Okay, so Im trying to do a PRL update on my Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V. I downloaded all the required software (CDMA Workshop, QPST v2.7.323_(2008-09-19), and the newest PRL for Sprint 60683). I installed the LG Universal Serial Drivers v3.3, and then installed CDMA Workshop. I opened Device Manager in Windows start menu, checked the current port of the LG Android Platform USB Serial Port (which is set to COM2), I then enabled USB Debugging on my phone, opened CDMA Workshop, clicked the drop-down menu to connect to port COM2, and it connected, BUT sometimes it randomly doesnt connect. After it successfully connected to COM2, I clicked on the "Security" tab in CDMA Workshop, clicked the drop-down menu under "SPC / User Lock" and changed it to "LG method", and then clicked "Read", itll start to attempt to read, and then in the bottom of the window in CDMA Workshop, it says "Failed..Phone does not answer".
What in the world is going on? Ive tried rebooting my PC, reinstalling the drivers, restarting CDMA Workshop, and changing the ports up but it NEVER reads my MSL!!! Do you all know whats going on? Is it becasue im running IHO BACKside CyanogenMod 7.2? Do I have to be using a Stock ROM when retrieving my MSL? I even tried the method of logging into my Virgin Mobile account, and then clicking that link (this https://www1.virginmobileusa.com/myaccount/login.dofsdf that says Error 404 not found, but the page doesnt even say a 404 Error, it says "The specified URL cannot be found".
What do i do guys???
Get MSL LG Optimus Black
I Am Not 100% sure this will work for your model but i downloaded LogCat to my PC and searched the code is under
D/InfoItems( 1572): Msl is filled as : 111221........................ hope this helps... your MSL probably isnt the same but it worked . you may have to search in the edit box for msl and just keep clicking down til u find it.
Hi,
im following Ryan Mogul's instructions for the ppc 6800 to unlock the SPC from the code to 000000 , ive gotten to the QPST add port and there is no phone listed , any ideas ?
thanks
Posted to wrong section please move to general q's mod!
Also more info , ive installed the diag cab it works flawlessly and also dialing the code on the phone gets you into diag . But when plugged into my laptop , win7 64 bit , it does not show up in qpst when i add port. On device manager it has a yellow triangle , indicating driver issue i believe ? I saw a thread days ago about using a set of drivers posted here by another user ?
Anyone ? Any help is appreciated i want this phone activated on cricket to use for wireless tethering
did you put the phone in diag mode? ##diag#
yes,
in Ryans instructions he has you install a , "Diagnostic Shortcuts cab" which gives you access directly to the application on the phone so you dont have to dial codes , same as epst , if you use the file manager you can just go to the windows directory and open epst , so i opened that and followed his instrutions to let the app start and when in diag mode the program would just hide itself , i did that and then tried to find it on QPST with the add port option and nothing shows up
epst and diag mode are different. flash back to stock and put it into diag, then write the SPC to whatever.
Hey everyone,
After finally getting my S3 I wanted to check out some stuff in QPST, but I can't seem to get the phone to be properly recognized by the program.
I was able to use the dialer code *#7284# to get into PhoneUtil but I'm not exactly sure what to do from there. It won't let me set UART to modem and I'm not sure which option to set it to under "USB," but I was able to get the computer and QPST to recognize the phone as modem-serial thingy in a COM port.
QPST sees it but a question mark shows up under the phone column and I can't see anything for it in "service programming."
Thanks in advance!
Which version or company is you're gs3 from... I used ##3424# brought me to phone utl. chose first option cdma modem, I haven't tried qpst but read somewhere that 266v is the one to use.. I will update with you in a few to let you know if I was able to connect and read phone!
Use the debug + modem setting, you can read phone and get some info but Not the akey with cdma workshop. That is obtained another way...........
Thanks, this was before I tried CDMA Workshop, which actually works.
It would be nice getting it to work in QPST too, though...

The only on I can get to recognize the Slll is QPST 2.7 Built 3.74 but when you try to read it, it stops in the middle of it and gives an error message.
cdma ws sees/reads, but i suspect the drivers arent correct because only limited functionality with that program
I was able to read the nv items 465, 466, 1192, and 1194 using efs browser in QPST 2.7 Build 378 setup on a Windows XP machine. Then I used CDMA Workshop 3.8.0 to change what I needed to change.

wouldnt that include the personal info? why didnt you backup that range before writing to it?
I know I was dumb for not doing that i did a backup on CW thinking that backup would include those files but tried to go back to that backup and still having the same issue signal goes on and off couple seconds after phone resets by itself unless i put it on airplane mode
I have my Rezound on PagePlus. My phone says it's Mobile network type is EvDo-rev.A but I get not 3G icon and no data.
I get voice and sms only.
Would ESN reset work?
**Note: When I was at stock 3.14.605.12 I was still having the same issue. I flashed to NeWts to get access to the hidden menu.
I would appreciate any suggestions besides pay someone else to do it for me.
Thanks in advance.
Did you write the CDMA settings to NAM1 and NAM2? You will only get1x data on the Rezound as far as I know. I have not been able to get any better than 1x anyway. Here's some info for you... need to substitute the verizon settings in there instead of the Cricket ones of course...
8. Put phone back into DIAG mode ##3424# call and to to WS 2.7 to unlock only. Go to QPST and connect to 8k port. Read from phone .For me I was able to follow the QPST tutorial with no problem and update both profiles did M.IP and PPP and wrote to phone with no issues. Reboot. When I tried doing the same on 9k port I got "Serious error encountered write aborted". I tried doing it without reading just writing and still got the error message. So I finished the EVDO settings for 9k port in DFS.
9. Put phone in DIAG mode go to WS 2.7 to unlock phone. Launch DFS 3.3.0.7 (I used Demo version and it worked for me) connect only to port 9k do not read! Go to PROGRAMMING tab select DATA tab enter PPP UID (your#@mycricket.com) pwd (cricket) write. Then Go to M.IP go to Selected Profile Settings enter NAI (your#@mycricket.com). Set Prim HA address to 0.0.0.0, set Sec HA address to 0.0.0.0 go to Share Secret User Profile. AAA shared secret (cricket) HA shared secret (cricket). Write current profile settings. At this point you may get failed to write messages at the bottom. Just ignore them. Repeat these steps for NAM2. Press Reset upper right hand corner. If your phone does not reboot on its own reboot it. If you want you can go back into DFS and read phone from PROGRAMMING and DATA tab to see if your PPP settings stuck. Do the same for M.IP if they did not try repeating the process. I had to do it a couple of times got error messages but sure enough they wrote to phone and I was successful in getting data 3g on phone.
10. To check your default settings press ##program# when it asks for password enter 000000 and check NAM CDMA Settings and make sure all your info looks right. Go to 1xEV-DO Data Parameters to see if your PPP settings are correct. Display grouping will give you the correct ESN for Cricket activation just write down your MEID (DEC) mine started with a 25#. Here you can also see your prl to verify its the right one. Exit. You can use ##778# and view your EPST check your M.IP default Profile to make sure your NAI looks all good. If you still see the Verizon NAI, Prim HA and Sec HA of 255.255.255.255 you may have to give it another shot.
Thanks for the reply.
You are right about port 9K. I cannot get the PPP Pass, HDR Pass, HA secrect, and AAA secret to stick.
When I installed the HTC drivers on Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8 64bit under Ports (COM & LPT) it installed as HTC Diagnostic Interface for both 8K and 9K.
In Windows XP 32bit 8K was HTC Diagnostic Interface and 9K HTC Projector Interface.
So I don't know if it's a driver issue which is causing me to not write the values. I've looked in multiple forums and have not been able to install the HTC Diagnostic Interface - 9K driver.
I have WS 3.8.7 full and it writes without errors to port 9K but the values still will not stick. I've tried QPST and DFS Demo; the values still will not stick.
Thanks again.
Solved
I don't know what I did but I know I didn't write the settings to port 9K.
I did use the "open sesame door" in QPST for both port 8K and 9K attempting to write the settings to port 9K, didn't work.
So I used the RUU 1.00.605.3 and downgraded and 3G started working!!
I step RUU from 1.00.605.3, 1.02.605.6, 2.01.605.11, and 3.14.605.12 and 3G was still working.
I restored my backup from NeWts and 3G was not working. I'm not sure why.
I don't have any screen from 3.14.605.12, but I have screenshots from 2.01.605.11.
I'm not sure if this will help anyone but thought I'd add it.
Voice, text, and 3G now working on PagePlus.
Hello,
I'm here trying to get help to solve a LG L65 D280n with the null IMEI problem.
I'm hopping there's no problem with the hardware as it was working ok and didn't fall or something else. It just got that way and it was nw unlocked some months ago.
Well, I've 1srt search and follow many youtube videos and read a lot of threads.
At 1srt I've tried to use official software form LG. LG mobile tool and drivers.
I download and install them everything goes well, phone is detected and after usb connection the firmware download started.
Problem was, after the point that it decompress the firmware and it was supposed to start copying it to the phone, the LG app just hangs with the windows error as it stops responding.
Using a machine with Win7 Pro x64.
From this saved the LG kdz file and the dll file that was downloaded.
I can't get another because the links from:
http://redirect.viglink.com/?format...g-phone-firmware.com/firmwar...-Tutti-50.html
are broken to the Europe/Portuguese version A or B of this phone that was original from MEO/TMN
Then I've tried another LG tool, older I believe. It requires qualcomm software, visual c++ etc.
All went well until I've selected a com port at the QPST configuration and then at the RF NV manager were I would try to write the IMEI it fails.
I select the COM port I've added before at the QPST configuration app but when I select the READ from phone option it just returns error ... DM command 19-24.
I was hopping to flash the modem only or to write the IMEI manually but its getting hard to solve the communication problem even after trying in different computer and with 3 version of drivers and software.
Recovery mode only shows if I wanna do factory reset, I did.
Can someone help?
Tried also EFS Professional now using Qualcomm NV tools, I can select the phone COM port but if I try to connect to it with 000000 Send SPC option on, It returns error, unable to send SPC to the phone.
