DCD 3.0.1 WiFi Issue - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Hey guys..
WiFi was working for me at first, but now my phone pretends like it doesn't even have WiFi. Any way to fix this without reflashing/hard resetting my phone? I tried the uninstallation of WMWiFiRouter, and it still didn't help. Can I somehow revert back to a different driver without having to start over again? Thanks!

can you elaborate on teh issue a little bit? im also having a wifi problem, but havent found many others with the same issue. i want to know if yours is the same.

sounds like a wmwifirouter issue to me.

i dont think so. i have removed wmwifirouter from mine and still have the problem. it works once in a while, specifically after a soft reset.

I don't know what else to say. Turning on the WiFi switch does nothing, pressing the WiFi in Comm Manager does nothing, and I no longer have WiFi under Connections. I see Wireless LAN, but not WiFi. My Wireless Today Plug-In only shows Bluetooth and not WiFi anymore.
All in all, I guess it seems like my phone doesn't realize that I have WiFi.

I just upgraded to DCD 3.0.1 yesterday.
WiFi is still working for me (WPA-PSK, AES encryption). I'll test at work tomorrow.

I've never used WiFi Router and I get the issue on soft resets and usually when I someplace where coverage is spotty.

I seem to be having an opposite problem. My WiFi randomly activates while I am in a call.

ive seen that thread, and that problem, but mine at least, is different. ive done extensive testing and my problem doesnt ahve anything to do with wmwifirouter. the problem started before i ever installed it. and its not that it doesnt work, it just works sporatically. usually after a soft reset, its ok. until i turn off the wifi switch, or push the power button. then its like theres no networks...but there definitely are. i thought the problem was specific to me, but now that im seeing other people with the problem im starting to neglect my previous theories that only pertained to my situation, in favor of no explanation.
just wondering. the other people with wifi problems. what carriers are you guys?
im on vzw
thanks

Happens on my Sprint Mogul, and I have tried that fix in the thread.

Im on Sprint and I keep having the same problem with my wifi.... this all began when i upgraded to the 2.2.6 rom i believe. I used to not be able to get wifi, then after a few days it would suddenly read my network but it wouldnt connect. now after upgrading to 3.0.1 it reads the network fine but it and tries to connect but either it disconnects instantly after it connects or it never connects.
Ive never had wmwrouter installed and my network connection security is WEP 128.
Any ideas?

wifi problem
I have the exact same problem with my phone...started about a month ago. Upgrade to new rom (from 2.17) didn't fix it....

sorry you guys are having problems, but i am a little relieved to see that other people are having the same problem as i am.
my one question, is are you guys sporadically seeing the wifi work fine. mine does, usually after a soft reset for a little while sometimes, but once it "clicks off" it is gone until after a soft reset.
thanks

I have the wifi issue as well. I am running DCD's 3.0.1 ROM. I also have the WMWifiRouter program installed. In my case, the WMWifirouter program would run and my laptop will pick it up but then I can't connect to it. It also seems sporadic. My laptop will show full signal of the program then when I hit refresh the signal will disappear. With the wifi switch, when I turn it on the wifi icon at the top comes on and act as if it is searching for wifi signal but it would never connect to anything. Even when I am in a wifi hotspot my phone would not pick anything up at all. *NOTE: Even before I upgraded my ROM, I started to have wifi problems on my stock 2.08 sprint ROM.

yea it sporadically works for a short period of time but once it disconnects it won't work again.
Sometimes it finds the wireless network and sometimes it wont find anything. Its kinda random.

Since I was having an issue for GPS to take a while to lock on on top of this WiFi issue, I just decided to flash the stock Sprint ROM 3.35 and then reflash DCD 3.0.1. Everything is working beautifully now.

it is this app
ok then test it on a phone that has had it an another one that has not! remember that once its on there you will find that it may never go away even if you flash, i been ther buddy
dont for get to change the routers name so you don't be dumb about it mmmkkaaayy.

Teathering Data Drops using Verizon Anybody else?

Hey all ive been searching for awhile on this and have not found anybody else complaining about this problem which I am sort of surprised by seeing as it has been happening to me for some time now.
Here is what is going on. I am on the verizon network and I am tethering my laptop to my phone through the USB using ICS running DCD's latest 3.0.1 ktichen .
Pretty much what happens is the phone connects fine to the itnerent and it passes the data connection to the computer then after about 5 to 30 minutes the connection will just disconnect on the phone and I will have to unplug the phone and then hit connect and plug it back into the laptop and again off it goes and works fine again for another variable amount of time usually 5 to 15 minutes.
There dosent seem to be alot of rhyme or reason to when it disconnects it just does it kinda randomly at different time intervals when im tethered. I have noticed its more likley to disconnect if There is a heavier load on the data connection say you are downloading a 20 meg file or something. It will almost inevidably drop connection halfway through the download sometime. its really weird and kinda annoying constantly reconnecting it.
I have tired WMWIFI router it does the same thing disconnects after a certain amount of time no real set amount of time sometimes five minutes others more like 15 or 30 minutes.
My 6700 would stay connected forever pretty much unless it lost signal or got a phone call. This phone hasent been real stable in teathering through any of the roms ive tried.
Does anybody else experience this or is it just me? i have a hard time believing its just me but maybe seeing as nobody else has really brought this issue up.
Possibly its just people on verizon I really dont know it seems as though the majority of people on here are on sprint so perhaps their system works a bit differently then verizons. Any way thought id share my frustrations and see if anybody had a way to fix this problem or if its just an inherent problem with the phone or radio or what.
Look forward to hearing if anybody else has any experience with this
Lee
OH and If you read this DCD your roms are kick ass keep up the good work I have enjoyed running every version you have put out. Much appreciated
Had same problem with 3.27 radio. Got 3.35 now and no any kind of disconnects!
I had more problems with Verizon's Access Manager dial-in connection than I do with ICS on my phone. Access Manager would disconnect for almost any reason. Sometimes I could keep a connection for a long period of time, but I never really taxed the connection. If I fired up my Cisco VPN client, it would disconnect from the internet each and every time (within a minute of establishing a VPN connection. Yes, I tried IPSEC over TCP, UDP, and SSL).
Now, using ICS and the USB connection (radio 3.35 and DCD 3.0.1), it works MUCH better. I will get a disconnect here or there, as most people do, but I can hammer on the connection (about a 100KB/sec download, VPN, etc), and it doesn't disconnect for any specific reason. My VPN client also works now.
I never tried radio 3.27. I waited until there was an "official" radio release for the 6800, and therefore am using 3.35. You could always try going back to the original VZW stuff to see if it is a hardware problem. If you're not on radio 3.35, I would update to that first.
I've downloaded over 100 MB without a disconnection, actually since I went to 3.35 radio, I'm not sure I've had it disconnect at all unless I lost signal.....Leedawg check your PM's.....
Thanks for all the replies it appears as though not many of you experience the problem with radio 3.35, I am running radio 3.35 seems just like 3.27 so perhaps I will flash back to the stock vzw rom and go from there and see if I still have the problem.

i am a VZW user as well, with the latest Sprint 3.35 radio.
i also am booted from my tethered connection periodically. even when just idling and no transfer, i can only keep a connection for about 5 mins max..
but i don't need to soft reset or anything, i just need to restart the ICS connection ..
Weird thing for me is, I tether BT and it drops me.. tether USB, and it doesn't............

XPERIA X10 Wi-Fi Problem!

I have a very apparent problem on my phone similar to the Iphone 4 problem but only with Wi-Fi. It's very minor compared to Iphone 4's recent problem (which was fix not too long ago..). While holding the phone in landscape mode and having your left (or right) hand on top the phone reduces the frequency of Wi-Fi and utterly disconnects. I have this problem in my room because my router is 3 floors down, it isn't the greatest reception but it works. So in summary when Wi-Fi is 1-2 bars, holding you hand atop the phone disconnects or lowers your Wi-Fi reception. This is a piss off... Either someone can fix this, or we need to complain to Sony ****ersson about this problem.
or move your router one floor up...
No, thats not something im going to do, the iPhone got a fix, why cant we?

@zephyrix i agree with you or better buy wifi antenna booster..... solve the problem...
That's not a problem, its simply because you are far away from the router, when it happens to you when you are at closed range, come and talk about it.
and cleary you don't know the real issue the iphone had...

I Think I have a WiFi problem as mine fails to turn on constantly. It will only start after I freshly boot it, then it turns off after about 15 minutes and is unable to start again until I power off, and back on.
If I go to the settings menu, wireless controls and tap to turn on WiFi it shows "Turning on..." for roughly 15-20 seconds then says "Unable to start WiFi"
This happened before and after I rooted with R2BA023 Firmware.
Anyone else encounter anything similar?

Hi Reeonimus - I just finished rooting my x10a from Rogers and I can't connect to my wifi at work, it was working before, so now I have to figure this one out.
I will see if I have the same problem at home tonight, will keep you posted
If you were having problems before, maybe your wifi in the phone is the problem
did you connect to wifi when you first received it? before doing anything to it
There is wifi patch for people who rooted the phone. Go back to the same rooting thread and look at the 4th post.

well I tried it last night and it connected perfectly at home.
I'm going to have to figure this one out
home is using WEP-Personal and so is my office.
but at the office it gives me a "Obtaining address" but just stops there.
I have full signal strength, but unsuccessful
It was connecting before the root
Patch file : I just installed it and it didn't fix anything, if anything it actually made it worse I think
What does that WiFi patch do?
And has anyone gotten WPA2 enterprise, or PEAP working? I'll need that for uni...
I came across this: http://pboos.ch/wordpress/2009/04/android-using-wpa2-enterprise/

I barely used the phone before I rooted so I don't know if the problem was there before. The bluetooth also had problems turning on.
However I reset the phone to factory settings and returned it for a new one. Then I realized that resetting it only reset the apps and everything, it was still on the R2BA023 firmware. They took it back and gave me a new one because they didn't notice though.
Rooted the new one and have had no problems since.

Hi guys, I'm an AT&T user on 1.6. I am looking for the wi-fi patch, as my wi-fi drops off with my cellular reception. Will this patch fix this problem? If you can point me to the rght direction, I would appreciate it. Trying to search but it appears search is down for the moment. Thanks
Screw it. I'm ready to jump to 2.1, since AT&T doesn't look like they are going to be rolling this out. Does 2.1 still have this wi-fi issue?
coughee, they have a stock 2.1 out now, just use the search to root it. have you checked for seus updates?? lately?

Wifi not turning on as well as other problems. Please help!

I don't know if it has been asked before but I've got a problem with the WiFi on my A101IT.
Problems:
Sometimes when I turn it on when it has been off it either goes into boot loop for no apparent reason OR just randomly freezes at the boot screen. When it doesn't act up and I finally get on and my home screen comes up and I look for my active Wifi signal.... it's not there?! When I go to try to manually connect to my Wifi in the Settings it gives me some b.s. "Error" reading! When I try to disconnect and reconnect my Wifi connection on my device it still continues to read "Turning on.... Error." Then, if I feel like messing with it, I'll go through about 5-10 tries of turning my A101IT off and back on to get my Wifi signal on my device to connect as it should.
Other side notes:
I have a Linksys WRTP54G VoIP router that is configured to Wireless G network. Never really had any device connection problems until a few weeks ago.... it just all-of-a-sudden started doing this on its own. I also bought my A101IT off eBay from someone who bought it as New and took very good care of it and only used it like 6 times in 1 month. Beside that, I never uninstalled/deleted any file/.apk I wasn't supposed to. (I say I never uninstalled/deleted anything because I have permanent root access via Chulri's Method for FW 2.3.20).
Any solutions?? Please help!
UPDATE: Archos' [email protected]$$ Customer Support representative said to "upgrade firmware and that should fix the problem." Assumptions, assumptions..... you know what they say?! Anyway, I really don't want to upgrade my FW to 2.3.26 due to known Wifi issues still occurring because as I have found... it seems to be that it is a similar hardware issue like Microsoft's Ring of Death for their XBOX 360 Base, Premium, Elite, AND Slim version gaming systems. I may be wrong but I believe it's a NIC issue where the NIC is not fully soldered on and/or the heat from the A101IT's battery cooks the connection of the NIC on the motherboard of the device to where it can only be turned on at random after about 6 months or more. That's my idea...
try to use Wifi manager to control the Wifi again. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager&hl=en
It solved my wifi problem on UrukDroid.
And if u want u can get an older version that has the widget to switch for free.
(Although as it's old it might have bugs that are fixed by now)

Galaxy S III Wifi Issue

Hey guys!
I'm not sure if this is my router problem, or my phone, but most likely my phone.
The wi-fi keeps continue to connect, and disconnect.
Here is the thing. When I bought the phone brand new, my phone behaved normal regarding the wifi, but when I flashed to a XXLF2, and using Checkrom with Siyah kernel, the wifi kept continue connect/disconnect all the time, so I gave another shot just reflashed everything to stock of XXLF2, still same problem.
Now, yesterday, I was flashing a new rom XXLF6, and then Omega rom, the wifi problem was still the same, so I gave it another try and just flashing the stock XXLF6, but the problem didn't either went away. I tried Ninphetamine kernel didn't help much either.
Anyone know what's going on??? You think it's hardware issue here, or something with the rom?
Hope someone could please help me out!
Thanks a lot!
Hi,
I not have the exact answer to you, but I think it is a hardware issue!! I have 2 router in my house (with the same ssid) with my SGS2 there is never problems when I cross the zones, it connects straight away to the other router. BUT with SGS3 it is a pain in the a..... I often need to turn on and off wi-fi several times before it can connect!!!! I think the 2 identical router confuse the SGS3....but not the SGS2 or my Tab. If there is only 1 router it connects straight away......
Yeah! That is actually what I was thinking too. It might be the hardware fault! I'm going to contact Samsung tomorrow, and see what's going on!
I have the exact same prob really annoying, but wifi driver is in kernel.I sometimes get "error bad connection " message.
Doesn't matter what kernel I use though.

No, but I do hit Clean Memory in the task manager quite often (because presto library is a piece of junk!) maybe that turns it off. I'll test tonight...
I'm also having the same issue, disconnecting, but appears connected in the Wifi settings. I have to go in and turn of power saving mode, but it comes back on after reboot.
Logicalstep
I had this wifi disconnect reconnect issue at work, but never happens at home. I initially thought it was some app I installed, I removed them and still happens at work, but not at home. All the phone settings mentioned here didn't make a difference.
I don't change anything on my phone, so I chuck it to incompatibility, and not an issue with my phone or it's settings.
Home Netgear WNDR3300 pretty much default settings.
The new firmware update XXLFB seems to update radio firmware and kernel. Maybe that will fix the problem.
Has anyone tried this?
Flash the rom and see if it helps.

What radio/modem version did you end up with, my UBLF2 (TTT) stayed the same after the update applied.

Today I told it to forget my B/G radio and to connect to the N radio. No disconnects, none..
No changes made to the phone at all..
2 phones - only 1 with wifi issues
Hi, noob here. I have been following this issue on androidforums.com (same user name) but since the "fix" came from this site I thought I'd share my relevant info here as well.
My husband and I received 2 Verizon SIII's (32GB) this weekend. Mine works great. His, however, has the wifi disconnect issue. The *#0011# is only a temporary fix for him.
So, for what it's worth, it's not likely to be a router problem, since 1 phone has no wifi issues and the other does.
We talked to Verizon at lunch today and they were interested in the problem and will be calling us at home this evening, with a Samsung rep. I'll post more once we've heard from them. For now though, Samsung does not have it listed as a "known" issue since there haven't been enough reports on this bug.

WiFi Issues

So, I've only had my LGOG for a day and a half and I am having issues connecting with WiFi. At first it worked fine but when I left the coverage area and return a few hours later it would not connect. Tried turning off the WiFi but it kept turning itself back on. I reboot the phone and it works fine as soon as it boots up it connects the WiFi no problem. It is my work WiFi and I had no issues connecting to it from either my iPad nor my HTC One X that will soon find it's way to eBay thanks to this beautiful LGOG. If no one else is having issues, I will call AT&T and have them switch it out. I just wish there was an easy way to back up everything, I mean my home screens and app locations exc. It takes so long to set everything back up the way I find most useful.
WiFi on my device has been excellent.

The Wifi performance of this device is unbelievable. I get the best speeds I have ever seen with any device including PCs. It's either a faulty device or maybe your work has strange security settings?
I had this same problem with my LGOG and my home wireless network. It just would sit and try to connect until I rebooted the phone.
That was on stock though. I have not had any more problems with it after flashing the base rom.
My work has standard WPA settings and it was connected fine yesterday. I left again during lunch and when I came back, same problem and had to reboot the phone. AT&T is sending me another one already and a free case. Can't be too mad about it I guess and at least the phone reboots fast.
Have you tried using the ATT smart wifi app? Fixed the exact same issue for me.

I wish my wifi would stop re-enabling itself. It's chewing up my home bandwidth.
I have been having this issue as of late. It seems to have developed this habit in the last week or so. At first I thought it was Time Warner trolling me but it started happening at work. Something tells me it has something to do with the stock At&T Rom putting the wi-fi radio to sleep and not being able to bring it back online. Reboot fixes it most of the time but sometimes it takes a couple attempts. I have been hesitant to mod this phone still because I would really like to see CM working well before I flash. Also my instinct tells me another possible culprit could be IPv6 on certain routers. That, however, is far less likely unless someone with a decrapified Rom has experienced this issue as it would be a cross platform issue in this case. Anyone else have any insight? Otherwise it's time to get rid of the Att rom.

This is my second LGOG and have been happy with both except for some minor glitches on both with the keyboard freezing up as well as with the WiFi not re-connecting after leaving the area. A restart normally fixed both problems. My first one bricked after rooting and removing all of the bloatware (the phone checks for certain apps upon booting to keep you from removing stock apps). Tried a fix but I couldn't get a Rom at that point as the phone had been out on the market for under a week. I haven't messed with it since but I may try a new Rom and be able to fix the WiFi and get rid of all the bloatware that way.
Just got this ROM running today. No more WiFi issues at all. Some minor ui bugs I am OK with.

Seems like, as usual, At&T bloat ware is the culprit. I experienced the same on my Aria and Inspire. Hope this helps and good luck.
Also I had the keyboard problem but that went away when I switched to the Android default keyboard. One of the other reasons I decided to root was because rather than freezing, the Android default keyboard started typing then the auto correct broke and stopped displaying the words unless you touched the area you were typing in. It really bugged me when it started doing it right after I factory reset. Weird huh?

LG Optimus G Wi-Fi Receiver Disconnect Issue
Funny...I've had some weird home wi-fi issues on two of these.
To explain, I bought mine in December, stock OS of course, and immediately noticed it turning off my wi-fi every time I tried switching between the two home wi-fi SSIDs I created when I upgraded to DD-WRT. This also occurred outside my house, but stopped shortly after the nearly-immediate Android OS upgrade came over (and forced me to install it, I might also note; I'd read the thing was just more AT&T bloatware, but two or three boots later, apparently I got no choice, and it auto-installed).
The good news was, somehow, this 'update' somehow stopped the thing from turning the wi-fi off when I switched between IDs (my base router has a 5G 2nd network which I wanna use when I'm around it, but DD-WRT won't support, as far as expanding it--thusly, I have another 2.4GHz signal I use and relay out around my yard).
That bad news is, though, that I screwed up the phone with the Root Toolbox (Lite) by merely fiddling with their bootanim settings on that original phone. And I mean bricked it, solid.
I'd never bricked any phone, so this ticked me off. Luckily, I was still within 2 days of my 30-Day Best Buy in-store replacement warranty, so I took it back, they fiddled too, and gave up on it.
Hence, my 2nd phone...which now, even after the system update direct from AT&T, still turns off my wi-fi every time I try switching to that 2nd SSID, so I'm left wondering if it was even the same update; I don't think I did anything else, and can't see it as a settings issue, because it did it right out of the box, and the first one stopped after the only system update before I got a chance to even figure ANY user settings out, much less any network ones.
So, now I'm 'going shopping' for 'some PlayStore app' that will skip this B.S. and automatically connect to the strongest home wi-fi signal (within reason--sometimes they're equally strong), without obnoxiously turning off my wi-fi receiver as I look at it.
This kind of malarky could spoil some phones for some people, but I'll struggle along due to the speedy quad-core in it [sigh...wah!].
I guess I'm a big baby, seeing as how I don't write one iota of code, but my personal haughty view is that any dedicated wi-fi devices should have better wi-fi connection than any Windows OS made...and, so far, this'n doesN'T!
What a dumb thing to let happen in such a potentially awesome phone...[AT&T!!!]
This might work or not but can't hurt to try. Apparently some people in the new snowleopard JB thread was having similar issues and for a few, changing the security from WPA2 to WEP worked. Although mines been good and fine on WPA2 but worth a try.
Using wep in 2013 is beyond retarded.

DUDE! Senior Members here can be a little uppity and rude...even if they're completely correct.
Glad you called out the 'behavior', and not the 'member', though...
but enough of the technicalities...I'm still looking for solutions...beyond blaming AT&T (too easy), or even the strangeness of getting into blaming some weird kind of manufacturing errors (QC at best), I'm left waiting for a substantial OS update (like, oh a better place of decimal, perhaps?), or worse, an app...anyone look at the state (and sheer number) of 'wi-fi' apps? Anybody here can guess, they number in the thousands, and a Play search for 'wi-fi' gets you astronomically different results from 'wifi', even, so I'm not sure I need to be looking at that.
Maybe it's even somehow that, with the first phone, I noticed this, and somehow added my own home network to the AT&T Smart Wi-Fi 'bloatware' that came with the phone (not the worst evil they've ever done, so far, BTW--it does exactly what I imagined should be going on in the background while you're driving around, indexing locales with free Wi-Fi for you to choose to save later...an idea I would call 'Tarzaning', if you get my drift).
I'm gonna try changing two settings in the AT&T 'Smart Wi-Fi' bloatware to 'My Spots' temporarily, at least, to see if it'll latch onto my home stuff more aggressively. I just can't wait to report back my fantastically successful findings here (right after I buy the domain name 'snarkasm.net').
Oh crap...it's already taken.
Is the AT&T smart wifi thing enabled by default? I can't remember. I thought it sounded useful so I played with it a bit but ultimately I didn't like the way it worked so I disabled it.
Still wanted some way to auto-enable/disable wifi. I didn't have anything to go on, but I picked up "Smart WiFi Toggler" which seems to work well. It uses location-based rules (based on cell signals) by default. I also use AutomateIt to turn off mobile data once wifi has been on for 1 minute, and turn on mobile data immediately when wifi disconnects. I have no idea if this saves me any battery life, but I do it anyway.
