It's not going to be the same. There was the threaded SMS cab, but it's not the same b/c it is a separate program. In WM 6.1, when you press the messaging button, you see your emails and text messages together. If you install a cab, it will be a separate program.

I've made a small application which adds a group of contacts as recipients to the existing messaging application. If you start the application from the start menu it will create a new SMS message for you. If you start it from the messaging menu it will update the already created SMS message. This makes it possible to forward received messages to a group.
As this is an extension of the original messaging application, all messages will be saved in the Sent Items folder.
Changelog and more information can be found at my website: http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=group_sms
The application will run on both Pocket PC's and SmartPhones with Windows Mobile 5.0 and above. Never tested on older devices, so it might work on them too
It supports MUI and can easily be translated to any language. Currently english and norwegian is supported.
Please give me feedback if you experience any problems.
To download, please visit my homepage at: http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=group_sms

Hi,
I'm still using version 1.3. I don't know if you remember my mail from then.
This is a part of it:
"Do you think it’s possible to add a group of contacts that’s in my SIM-list?
I mean, if I select the box All Contacts, only the contacts saved in Outlook are visible, not the ones on my SIM-card.
If not I can always save all my SIM-contacts to the Contacts in Outlook, but then my contact list is growing so big and a lot of double phone numbers are showing up."
MANY THNX to you
really this GROUP SMS is come to solve a big problem in PPC which is sending message to more than one.
NOW by using you GROUP SMS i can remove other silly program that try to send to many but big , not embeded in the options of message like yours
thnx again and again

make sure that there is at least one groupe (catergory)
Group SMS can't add a group at the moment. It can only read the Outlook categories. I will probably implement functionallity to add, remove and edit groups in a later release.
I recommend you all to upgrade to version 1.4.1. Some users found a small bug when contacts are member of more then one group. I forgot to reset a string before I used it again and this can cause the application to show a group multiple times with some strange characters.
The new cab file can be found in the first post of this thread.

I gave this app a try. First thing I noticed is that it wiped out the Mark All As Read and Delete All menu extensions. Unfortunately, these two options are much more useful than a group sms. Great work anyway and maybe you can find a compromise.
I will certainly look into that! Which device are you running on? Is the Mark All As Read and Delete All menu extensions a part of the ROM or have you installed it?
Nice app.
thank you
thank you very much for this app!!! i was looking for this for decades!!! great work dude!

I have
htc p3300
with B&B 3.7
and net V2 installed.
I have more than 1500 contacts divided in 10 categories.
when I try to use groupsms I get the first screen with preselection of groups (cateories)
I do chech one or various, then next.
Some seconds later I get just one, two and mostly nothing of contacts to check.
Where the problem comes from?
I used it with just one category and 200 contacts and haddn´t any problem ( has the program mem limitations?
Thank you for your great job
hello guys,
i am using kumara's WM6.1 rom posted recently. and now i am facing a problem that the sms are shown as conversations and not as individual sms.
because of this i cant forward them and also can not delete them as if i try to delete one sms the whole conversation is deleted.
the conversation is also something different....the sms of a individual is shown together irrespective of date received.

or use a cab that is attached in rom threads with some roms
Just search for softwares like SMS Tweaker, Mode SMS. They would help you to revert to the older style of Inbox found in WM6
I am ok with the threaded SMS included in dcd's unofficial roms but I have read that many people prefer the Treo SMS application or some other... what are the best SMS applications available for the Mogul, free or paid for?

Although you won't find a CAB file on here for the Treo threaded SMS application (it was ripped from a Treo 750), you can find it by searching google for it. There are other threaded SMS programs that are available though that you can get a CAB for, such as this one:
PocketCM Contacts & Keyboard
Def can't deal with PocketCM is pissed me off..
Check the 6800 section of the wmexperts.com forums.

Sweet thanks. I installed that cab
One thing I'm concerned about is keeping my old SMSs. I loaded one threaded SMS program and it used a different database to store SMS, so I couldn't see my old ones. However, they were still there and once I uninstalled it I could see them again. Does anyone know if any of these use the same database as the default app?
I would like to get P-SMS running in 6.1... I loved it... The one over at WMExperts.com is pretty good though.
Edit:
Nevermind... just got it going...
which one out of the two in the zip file is recommended? I don't want to reassign my email button, but where is there an sms button?
okay, i installed hte sms softkey application, however, wehn I try to send a msg i get the "you're not provisioned to send multimedia messages, message not sent".
any ideas
sending double text
I have Cody threaded sms and people are telling me that I'm sending a message 2-4 times. Does anybody else have this problem?
I uninstalled, soft reset, and reinstalled. But I don't think that fixed the problem

Its still doubling but i think its because when i uninstalled the cody threaded sms there waqs still some files left in my phone. Because when installed the shogun all my old sms from cody was there.
Ok so I install the latest Sprint rom on my Mogul. It works perfectly. I dont use HTC today plugs so I have no memory leaks. After 11 hours I still have 20mb of memory left. The phone runs stable. No freezes. I use Spb mods for all my other needs and sirius radio, tcmp, flash bundle, opera mini for all my apps and needs. I run Slingbox and Orb to connect to my home PC media. I have zero problems with the phone so far.
The reason for my post is I was wondering what the benifit to using 6.1 would be. I dont have memory problems. All of the menues work the way I need them ect.. As far as I can tell 6.1 boasts better memory management? I realy cant find any claims to fame on the MS sites for it.
Any info is a big help ty much!
If you use SMS a lot, the new threaded SMS client is MUCH better in 6.1
Question about the threaded SMS. If I backup my sms and load it back in after loading DCD's rom, will it still be there with the new SMS program? Basically, I want to keep my SMSs just like I keep my emails. Does the SMS program use the same database to store them? Will I be able to view the old ones in threaded style? Also, does it distiguish between conversations or does it just thread all the sms between you and said individual?
Also, here's one thing I found talking about 6.1 advantages.
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Hands-on-with-Windows-Mobile-6.1-Professional-article-a_2477.html
The only negative I've found is that WM 6.1's PIE seems to take quite a bit longer to "render" webpages.

After reading those ppl's comments, I clearly realize that most people are oblivious of the capabilities of WM phones. Also, the 2nd guy says he wishes he could get WM 6.1 on his XV6800. I want to tell him that he can, but that would make me more of a dork.
hahah!! i thought the same thing about that guy and his 6800! hahahaha

Yes, if you use PIM Backup to backup your SMS, when restored with WM6.1, it will restore it as threaded. It distinguishes the conversations. It will restore email like normal.

It does not distinguish the conversations in the way that Poke_N_PDA asked. Every interaction between me and my brother, for example, gets put into the same thread. We might not send messages for a week, but then once we do, it creates the messages in the same thread as our previous messages. You end up having a single thread for each contact you correspond with by text message.

I don't think I have a problem with that. It would be nice to be able to divide it yourself and start new conversations, but I can live without it.
Also, can you still view and look through messages individually like you could in 6.0? It would be really nice if they just set it up as a view option to where you could select different styles.
For example:
Rhodium's SMS tab has it so if you tap the message itself, you go to the contact SMS log within Rhodium. However, in previous version, and if you use the softkey menu to reply, it would go to the WinMo SMS section. Anyone know if you can change this, and if so, which manila file to edit (and how, etc?)
Would be sweet.. searched around for this, can't find it.
Well here's a cab to disable the rhodium sms app, and take you directly to winmo's sms instead. I don't know of any other ways to change any other tabs
