w/ dcd 3.0.1 pressing any button will wake the phone - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

i click the power button to turn off the screen and put it to sleep, but pressing ANY button at all will wake it.
almost every time i get the phone from my pocket it's ON.
i've already sent a few texts by mistake.
is anyone else getting this problem?

It's not a problem, it's a setting. Mine doesn't wake unless I hit the power button.
Settings => System => Key Lock

thanks
i feel dumb

lol, me too!

Me too!! Was driving me nuts! I think my hip called 222-222-2222 50 times before I figured that out. The default setting must have changed.

I am so glad this thread is here, updated to dcd's 3.0.1 last night ad have already made 10 unintentional calls this AM.
Thanks for the education J Shed.

yeah, my bad. i meant to move it out of sprint and into all carriers, instead i deleted the setting. i had a few accidental calls too i will fix in next release, sorry.

Is it possible to enable the G-sensor to turn on the screen?

This is one feature that the *cough iphone cough* has...
When you're on a call, and pull the fone away from your face, say.. to enter a number or what not, the screen will turn on, and allow you to do so w/o pushing the standby/wake button...
Not quite sure if it's controlled by light-sensor or G-sensor, but... would it be possible to establish a similar feature on the Raphael?
Sorry if this has been covered... I had no luck searching...
Thoughts?

As I've said in another thread, 600GOL (he of changeScreen fame) and I have been working on an app to switch the backlight back on when the phone is not against your ear.
There have been some technical issues (such as the light sensor goes off when the backlight goes off), but I think we are close to a solution that will serve most people, i.e. phone against your ear = screen off, and phone in your hand to press buttons or look at something = screen on.
Give it another day or so, and I'm sure we'll have a beta for people to try.
Cheers,
Steve.

Request/Suggestion - Home/search/back/menu backlight

I'm currently using the Telus version of this phone (SGH-959D) and i'm finding it rather annoying that the home key backlight turns off very very quickly. Can anyone suggest an app (maybe make one?) that would keep the backligh on when the screen is active (adjustable brightness?)
I'm currently running 2.2 and have rooted the phone.
some people told me that the DISPLAY activates the buttons to light up, and messing with the screen it-self is very dangerous and most people wouldn't do it, but idk if theres a app/program to do this yet i'd love it as well. its making me go blind at night when im reading a book on my phone lol

I'm mostly having problems when using the navigate in the car at night, the screen stays on, but the buttons go right out, so it's guess work on wether you are hitting the home button or the menu button. I could see similar problems when using other apps that leave the screen on for an extended period of time.

Home button delay?

Hi All,
Just got the sgs2 yesturday and so far its brilliant. However I have a delay when pressing the home button. There is no delay anywhere else but what ever I am doing and I press the home button from any app its takes about 2 secs which seems to be a long time.
any one else experience this?

I think this is a bug. I myself have this problem too. Also had it on older firmwares
Me to hopefully a bug as it does get on me nerves abit
Yep, me three!
Winds me up when I want to unlock the phone. Stupid bug for an otherwise very fast phone.

The reason it's delaying it, is because it's waiting if you are going to press it a second time to activate voice control. If someone can work out how to disable the double press voice control, it should remove the delay.

Agreed. Freezing voice input will prevent the app running, but not the delay.

Agreed. I'm getting my phone hopefully in a few days. But I never used voice commands as I'm not a native english speaker. I noticed this with the SGSII I tried in a store. It would be cool if there was a fix for this so the home button reacts instantly.
+1
I'd really like to see a fix for this... I don't need the voice app either.
Mine's not doing it. It's maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 second slower than launching an app with the screen. It's instantaneous when waking the phone. It's so slight I wouldn't have noticed it until you pointed it out and I checked. I'm on KE2. Did you guys go directly from the shipped ROM to KE2 without KE1 in the middle? I did, maybe that's the reason.

Everyone's doing it. If you make a button that can react to a double-press it isn't possible to make it react instantly on just one button press. The phone can't know that you are not going to press the button a second time.
I played with it again, the screen is definitely going from calculator, Rhapsody, and the browser to the home screen fully displayed in about a 1/2 second. I get what you're saying about the double-press, but a 1/2 second seems livable to me. Someone said "two seconds" which would drive me crazy too. So the question is, is it a 1/2 second or two seconds? If it's the latter some phones are behaving differently than others.
Yeah, it isn't 2 seconds, I'd say it's a little bit more than 0.5 seconds. But even with 0.5 seconds it feels too long for me.
I've had a HTC Desire before the SGSII and the Home Button was instant on there so that's why it's really annoying to me.
Hi,
My came phone with the latest rom. Its about 1.5 secs but iy does feel long especially when everyghing else is so fast.
If its possible I dont mind disabling the double press option for voice cammands if it can make the one press action faster.
Someone posted 1/5 secs, if that was the case then I didn't mind either, however this is not the case with my phone.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I get roughly a 1 second delay, my phone came with KE1 stock.
No reboot in 27 hours and home button varies randomly from 0.5 to 2 seconds.
mine is pretty much always 2 seconds on KE7. It feels like an eternity comparing to everything else on the phone which is instant. I hope a fix for this will come soon, 2 seconds might not sound like a long time waiting but overtime its very much irritating.

Mine is now on about 5-6 seconds and driving me crazy. Could it be due to a widget?
Don't know if this might give anyone any clues, but it's not just to do with pressing the home button. Mine does exactly the same when I go from an app to the home screen by pressing the back button.
Mine was doing it too (around 4 seconds!) untill a restart yesterday fixed it... for now.
Anyone got any hope on this?
This seems to be the biggest problem for me

[Q] powering on the screen using back or menu soft keys.

Can.
It.

Done?
wow 60 views and NO ideas?
No, it cannot. They are inactive until the screen is turned on. Your phone wouldn't be able to go into deep sleep if it was anticipating you touching soft keys.

why not? surely it doesn't take all them brainy quad cores to monitor one little button.
The HoX can do it so why cant ours?

what is the big deal to press either power or home botton to wake up screen....
Hard botton is always prefferable for unlocking the screen otherwise each accedental tap will make your phone awake and drain the battery to zero in your pocket itself...

With paranoid android you can turn on the onscreen buttons and some people actually prefere this, some even have remapped the home button to a soft key. All i'm saying is that some people do not like the feel on the home button.

Its actually a mod that you install, and the battery issues are not present in most the custom roms
why cant any of the devs make the back key, when you hold and press, the task manager appears. i think holding the main button dow will eventually mess the button up. at the moment when you hold and press the back key, nothing happens. whereas if you hold down the menu button you get google search thingy

When the CPU is in deep-sleep, none of them are awake. Actually the CPU sets itself a timer to wake up, check for work and go to sleep again.
(Not really different from what we do all day =) Only with the exception that it's not supposed to oversleep ^^ )
I'm not sure as for the hardware but there are 2 possible reasons for the CPU not waking up to softkeys:
- they might be polled (the CPU asks their status every X milliseconds) instead of interrupts (notify the CPU with very high priority about any changes) That would mean the CPU had to be awake for them to work which drains a lot of power
- Some interrupts are capable of waking up a deep-sleeping CPU , others aren't.

i don;t think that is really an issue, this has been the same on the S2 as well and it didn't mess up the button.

phone unlocks when i put it down :S

hey, i dont know if this is in the right section so if it isnt im sorry, also i am on o2 as i live in the UK but decided to put it in the Verizon section, sorry again
sometimes when i lock my phone and put it down onto my desk it unlocks itself and goes to the home screen, this is worrying because i have a pass lock on it...
i have made sure lock with home button is enabled and it is, motion sensors are off etc so i dont know
any ideas?
If this is what you're experiencing:
1. Phone is awake and screen is on
2. Press power button to turn off the screen and lock the phone
3. Put phone down on table/desk
4. Instantly the phone wakes up and goes straight to the homescreen
Then yep I am experiencing this exact same thing myself. It's not consistent at all, sometimes it goes a full day without happening, but it does happen. Seen it a dozen or so times so far and it's really frustrating. I have no idea what could possibly be causing this. It's almost like a bounce-back wake up where the phone isn't done doing something when I lock it and it goes "no I'm waking back up not finished yet." Because once it wakes up and I re-lock it, it hasn't done it again since. No back to back wake ups.
Wierd. Hopefully more people can post that they too experience this.

yeah thats exactly whats happening, like you say it is inconsistent but is annoying when it happens
This has never happened to me.
I haven't had this happen either. Can you turn off all motion settings and see if it still happens?
I can't definitively say I've had this happen, but there have been several times when I've woken the phone up and thought 'I swear I didn't hit the power button...'

This has happened to me quite a bit. I can go days without seeing it and then some days it happens until I power off the phone for 5 or 10 mins and then boot it back up, once I do that everythings hunkey dorey for at least a day if not more. Its a very odd bug though. Ive experienced it on all the stock and all the AOSP roms so it could just be a hardware issue of some sort. But then powering it off wouldnt help, at least I dont think so......
Anyway, its more annoying than anything but it has gotten me in trouble for dialing people and saying stuff they werent meant to hear, like my fiancée hearing what she was getting for Christmas.....

its happened to me 4 times today , i just hope it doesnt happen that many times every day and thats pretty unlucky with your fiancee
