Possibe to repeat just one track in WM Media Player? - HTC Startrek

I got the Qtek 8500 for my wife, and I'd like to leave it in the easter egg with the sound of a chicken... so I'd like the media player to repeat the same track over and over again, but it doesn't look like it's possible unless I clean out the storage card and just leave one track. Im new to WinMo, Are there work arounds? Or do I have to install some other mobile player? I'd rather not, but if there are no work arounds, I'll do it. Grateful for any input.
Thanks

Hi,
you can repeat the same track directly in windows media player. just use "menue-random/repeat" and activate "repeat".
for adding music/sounds to wmp you need to refresh library. then choose only the sound/song from media library and activate repeat.
there's no need of wiping your storage except for the one you like to hear.

this actually doesn't work. Maybe you can explain more. But it just doesn't work.

In your music folder make a new one named as you wish...
Then copy the song you want to repeat alone in that specific folder. Next, go to WM Player > menu > Library > Menu > Open File > select the song from the "new folder" > hit: Enter or Play; it will start the song. Finally go to: Menu > Shuffle/Repeat > and activate Repeat...

Music file associations

Can some one kindly explain tome how to get my music file
associations back to standard please.
After downloading Coreplayer I noticed all my music files
had converted to Coreplayer association with the corresponding
CP icons in my file explorer,I would like to change this back.
Cheers for any help you can offer....
Open up core player, hit the menu or options button and you can get to tools then pages and you can find file associations just uncheck mp3, not the best description because i dont use it any more sorry, but its something like that

Cheers bud,I've done that, unchecked a few things and it seems the
WMA files I've got have reverted back OK to
Windows Media Player and have the right icon, but all my MP3's have the
Windows icon you usually get with programs and aren't selectable to play
from File explorer,if I select a track it just drops back to the home screen.
Music tracks are still selectable from HTC Player....
I'm at a brick wall at the moment, don't know what to try next ?
have you tried a soft reset?? and all so tried opening a track through windows media player that way it might pick them up
Yep tried that and updating my WM library, everything plays OK
but I still have this strange icon issue in File Explorer and
of course I can't select them to play from within there...
Seems like I will have to delete all the music and re-load them again,
all my ringtones and notification tones have stopped working.
Strange that they will all still play in hTC music player, but
are not selectable via File Explorer.
I would have liked a definitive answer to how to cure this, but
hey ho something to do on a rainy Sunday removing all my music files.
I ditched Coreplayer, not only did it cause this issue by associating all my
MP3's to itself,I found it quite irritating to use.
Well...deleted everything and uploaded all music files from my laptop again,
still no joy,I really need some more advice...
All my music files are still showing as Windows files with no music association...
please someone help !!
I can't get any of my music files to select as a ringtone,I missed several calls, texts and emails...
for the ringtone try dropping it into device-app data-sounds, i have no music on my phone, but i put ringtones there cause ms instructed me to do so, only problem is ringtone showed up in player and is ur music in ms format - wma i believe - i do not use i got 1.5 gb songs ipod format hope it helps
i decided to try and answer here instead of hd2 place
I have replied to your issue in another forum. Try using Resco File Explorer or Total Commander to set the file association back to wmplayer.exe.
Thanx Web,
but the issue isnt where the files are stored, they do already show up in my
selection of available ringtones and notification sounds (I had already been using them,so they are correctly placed in the phones folders.
The problem is if I click on one to hear it before deciding to select it for
shall we say my main ringtone nothing happens due to it
not having the correct file type....
I have selected 'Opens with' as WMP and they will open up from File Explorer
and play perfectly OK
and also in HTC player, but the file type is showing as 'unknown type'
instead of the generic HTC music icon it should have....
Hope that makes it clearer ?
OK I tried your suggestion Web and ringtones work now... thank fook for that cheers...
although they appear as more than one copy of each in the
selection folder now, this isnt a problem as I know to select the top
version of each to my alotted ring tones and can just delete the
other copies from where I have them stored.
So everything plays as it should now,it's just the icons that
are wrong.
thanks markt77 - appreciate the input - i try - and i am learning good knowledge from u and the other folks over there - boy it is sometimes really hard to get a response at xda when u request answers

How do you turn off ^3 Music Player

I just downloaded ^3 Music Player at the suggestion of many, and it is an awesome player. I want to keep it as my main player because it just looks cool. And unlike the stock player on the Vibrant, the Album Art is crisp and clear. But I noticed this app does not show up in the Program Monitor widget to chose End All. So how do you turn it off. Currently Im going into Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > 3 > Force Stop. Is anyone else not seeing this program as running in the Program Monitor widget?
I see your new to android... the following link deals with your question in part... but mostly with android and memory management.. (I read you have a program/app/task manager ) ... basically apps made to follow android api's do not need a dedicated stop/exit button, for media players, pause and back button ends the app ... so please read the info found in the link... you don't have to install any app , that's up to you, I just want to help you understand Android...

Thanks. But, didnt help me to understand why ^3 is not showing under the Program Monitor when it is running. When you play the stock MP3 player and when you hit back all the way to the home screen, the music is still playing. Same goes for the ^3 music player. The only difference is that the stock player will show as an active application under the Samsung Progarm Monitor. So all you do is just hit End Application and the app is no longer running and music stops. ^3 does not show as an active application in the Samsung Program Monitor as it is playing. Even if you hit pause on the stock MP3 player and then hit back until you get to the Home Screen, the stock player still shows as an Active Application. So when you say for media players pause or back ends the App, that doesn seem so since the stock mp3 player continues to show as an active application when it is paused.
In the end I installed Advanced Task Killer. When I run ^3, advanced task killer does show it is running when it is playing, so I just use the kill option on that for now.

HTC Sense Music Player - Playlists Question

Hey mates,
i'm wondering if its possible to make a playlist with the tracks in one folder and not sorted by album, artist, or so.
i have many albums which havent got id3-tags, so they're all in the category "unknown". but on my SD, theyre sorted in folders..
so is this possible?
hope you understand what i mean.
thanks in advance,
DN41
Move all the music to your pc, delete all the folders on the HD2 that have music in except the music file on the sd card, empty that file, copy all the music tracks into that file (not the folders) simplez
thanks for your reply.
but isnt there an easier way? just like sort it in the folders they are in the player?..
DN41
i found out, that a playlist created with WMP on my hd2 is also shown in sense player.
in wmp pocket its possible to create playlists by folders. so you can create in wmp the playlist with the songs in one folder and you'll have it in sense player
DN41
Still, one must admit iPod is much easier to use
I was an "apple hater" for many years, but after using my sisters Nano, Sense player just does not measure up for me
Maybe someone knows of an application that emulates iPod in WM6.5?

And for those of us that used to have iPods and, therefore, have a large collection of music encoded in the smaller-per-bit rate AAC format used by default in iTunes, Sense can't even sort our music into track order. So annoying. HTC's music player in Android doesn't have this problem for some reason...
Anyhooooooo, I can't help you with better software for your HD2, but we can get iTunes to kinda work with the HD2 - try iTunes Agent. Works well with itunes. Oh, it's free too : ) http://ita.sourceforge.net/
Dependent upon how you set it up, your HD2 will appear as a single playlist on the left of the iTunes window. Anything you add or remove from the playlist will be changed on the HD2 next time you choose to synchronise. iTunes Agent will also add the files to your SD card in Artist/Album sub folders if you like. If you turn on the right browsing options in iTunes, you will see the three columns at the top of the music list, Genre, Artist, Album - this way it makes it really easy to browse what's 'on' your HD2 (much better than one long list).
iTunes Agent doesn't yet support exporting playlists to your device, so if you want to go a stage further and export other iTunes playlists to your phone....
1. just highlight the songs in the desired playlist in iTunes, say ' melt your face off rock anthems' and drag them to the HD2 playlist, then sync with iTunes Agent to get them onto you storage card.
2. Export the first playlist from iTunes (Melt your face off rock anthems) by right clicking on it, hitting export, then choosing .M3U as the file type.
3. Go to where you exported it and open it with notepad. Delete the first line "#EXTM3U", then use the Edit/Replace function in Notepad to correct the file path (e.g Find What: "C\:itunes music" Replace With: "Storage Card\MP3") to reflect where you store music on your phone. Save (as Unicode if I remember correctly).
4. Copy playlist to Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Playlists on your phone then soft reset. Once the phone finishes scanning your card after rebooting, the playlist should appear in Sense Player.
There are two things to watch out for when creating playlists on your phone this way. First is the poopy way iTunes cuts off (appends - my old english teacher would be so proud, not) long track or album names e.g "01 My funky monkey groove mix shubbla ding fong.m4a" will be abbreviated to "01 My funly monkey groove mix shu~.m4a". These entries have to be edited manually in the playlist as far as I can see. (!!!!) Second, you can't edit these playlists on the phone. When you reset the phone the changes are gone. No idea why.
I know this doesn't quite answer your question, but give it a go if you have iTunes on your PC. It has made transferring music to my HD2 so much easier. The only bummer is having to connect the phone in disc mode, which is hardly major.

[Q] Problem setting mp3 as ring/notification/alarm tone.

Did someone able to set an mp3 as ringtone or notificationtone, or alarmtone using programs like "Rings Extended", "Tone Picker" or "HandcentSMS" that allow to browse and then select an mp3 stored anywhere in the SD?
On my O1 no one of that programs works: e.g. if I set the mp3 from Settings->Sound->Phone ringtone throgh that programs, when I call the phone it rings with a default android ringtone and not the mp3 selected.
The only 'working' method for me is to put the mp3 into
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms - for the alarms,
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications - for the notifications (sms too),
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones - for the rings,
and then select it through the standard Andori interface (Android system, that in my O1 shows me only the files stored in the folders just listed).
Could that these programs are incompatible with the O1???
In the HTC Desire with Froyo of my colleague they work perfectly.
Did you have the same problem or it is a problem of my O1 only?
Many thanks for the help...I'm going crazy!

Works like a charm for me. And i just placed mp3s in a /media folder on sdcard.
What works fine for you? Are you use an app like "Rings Extended"? Or are you set the ringtone from Settings->Sound->Phone with the standard Android interface? Or are you set the mp3 as ringtone from the music player?
I used "Ringtones" app and this works. But it seems that copy some melody into /sdcard/media/audio/notifications should be works too.

There are more than one app called "Ringtones", please could you link the one you use?
OK, maybe I am not clear in my explanation...what does not work for me are the various mp3 apps ("Rings Extended", "Tone Picker" or " HandcentSMS) that allows you to select an mp3 in the various settings that ask to choose a sound file .
If I go to Settings->Sound->Phone ringtone with the standard interface of Android I can see only the mp3 stored in the specific folders under /sdcard/media/audio; with the app installed, I can select any mp3s stored anywhere in SD, but even if I select the mp3 then it always plays a default tone.
Yes, this is solved using the music player or even Astro, but the fact is that I would use an app like EasyProfiles to create and manage phone profiles so as to change the ringtone when certain profiles are selected. EasyProfile (like any other apps like that) calls the same interface to select the tone as when I go to Settings->Sound->Phone ringtone ... with the same results (default ringtone is played instead the mp3 selected).
Has anyone installed one of these apps to select the mp3 and/or could do this simple test? (in the Desire with Froyo of my colleague the apps work properly).
I have just made a SW reset and the problem persists ....
I have not problem with it.
For firstime I download Ringtones app and tried download some sounds via this app - it works fine, but there are only some songs and I like anothers
Now, when I read that it is possible just copy media files into right folder I tried it and it also works fine. Ringtone can be selected and when I tried to call myself and everething was fine.
There is two possibilites, why it doesn work:
1) You have your phone conected in USB in USB Mass Storage mode - in this case mobile phone can not acess into memory card, so file can not be used for playing.
2) You call from number, which have selected their own ringtone.
Also I noticed this:
When you are connected in Mass Storage mode and somebady call you, ringtone is reset. In this case copy ringtone into memory can help, but in phone isn't many space for this kind of waste of space.
The link does not work, but anyway from your description I understood that your application download and set the tone so, to set the tone you have to open the application. This is not what i need to do: I know that if you use the music player or other app like Astro and now Ringtones all it works, but as said I need to use application like "Rings Extended", "Tone Picker" or " HandcentSMS" the provide only an interface to the other apps or Android system settings to select mp3 stored anywhere in the SD.
So, to be clear, the only test that can clarify me the problem is the following:
1. install Rings Extended.
2. go to Settings->Sound->Phone ringtone, select 'Rings Extended', then select 'Select musuc (Rings)' and then select an mp3 that IS NOT stored in the folders (and subfolders) /sdcard/media/audio/.
3. now call the phone (or go to Settings->Sound->Volume and change Ringtone volume to have a preview of the tone) and check if the tone played is the mp3 selected or a standard gingle.
I repeat, this operation works in other smartphone like Desire and Magic, but not in (my?) O1.
If someone could do this simple test I will so happy
It seems that here was some communication noise Yes I can confirm this issue for you. Simples way will be contact developers of this app and let him know, that it not works. For now I haven't idea how to make this app works properly.
Many many thanks!
I do not know if it is "correct" to contact the developer of the app reporting a bug...this app and all the others app that do the same thing seem work well in all the other devices only in the O1 do not work :-( .
I will try in anycase...hoping he has a O1 where test his app.

[Q] Pin All Music in Google Play Music App

Hello all,
For the Google Play Music app, I know you can pin albums and playlists to your device so you do not have to stream them.
Is there anyway to simply pin all your music? Instead of doing each album or playlist individually?
Thank you.
Bump
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Use a playlist
In the Web version Create a playlist with all your songs
In the App swipe to playlists and long press that play list to pin all
However its very slow doesn't keep the connection alive when the phone goes to sleep and puts the files in a folder where only a few other music players can see them

Google music is working in India???
can someone tell me how you create a playlist that contains your entire library? Hoping there's a better way than dragging every album/artist into the playlist.
Thanks!
Sorry for necroposting a little, I came across this thread while trying to accomplish the same thing, but dragging and dropping hundreds of songs onto a playlist didn't sound nice.
The easy way to go about this is to go to the Google Play Music web interface, go to My Library, and hit the "Shuffle My Library" button. That'll put all your music into the Queue, which you can open from the icon on the bottom right of the interface or from the side menu, under "Auto Playlists". Open the Queue, and hit "Save Queue", which will add all the music to a single playlist. From there, you can open up the android app and pin that playlist.
Hope this helps!
