Please help. Desperate. - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

I am a US resident and an AT&T customer. I purchased the Nike on ebay and have already SIM unlocked the phone and it is working with my AT&T sim card.
My question is simple(I hope).
Which OS and Radio will work best in my situation?-I am no rookie to upgrading Windows Mobile cell phones as I have owned many.-I fully understand the risks to my phone and am prepared to face them.-I already understand that I am my own tech support thanks to the lack of support of this phone here in the US.That said, can anybody help me?
Dan

Can noone help me with the question? Over 12 hours and 60 some views but not one reply...
I really need an answer to this question as right now I am not able to access the internet on my phone. I really love this phone but if I can't really use it, that's gonna fade quickly.
PLEASE, PLEASE, someone help me.
Thanks, Dan.

Maybe you should have thought about that before buying it?
Anyway, be pacient, maybe anyone can help you...

One could only hope I suppose...
I know it is possible because I had a T-Mobile MDA and then the T-Mobile Wing on AT&T configured to AT&T's settings but the Dual isn't native to my country. I knew it would be more difficult but knew someone here, if anywhere, could help me.

i got niki off ebay as well and used it on AT&T for a few months before switch to T-Mobile. i used it with the original stock ROM and the Niki Project ROM. my signal wasn't always the best because there are areas near me that use the 850 mhz band but now that i'm on T-Mobile, everything is good.
if i were you, i'd try the Niki Project ROM. it's stable and fast.

Haha will do.

You don't need to flash the radio if you're not having problems with it. If it's not broken, don't fix it. (I read that from someone's sig)
But I second the suggestion regarding Niki Project ROM.. it's the best so far.

Rogers Canada doesn't even sell a Hermes Device, you need to figure out what kind of device you have and then see if there is a forum for it.
yes they do check the website http://www.shoprogers.com/business/...BPRB7CKGVECV4DAK5&PRODUCTID=TYTNREN&summary=1
GUESS WHAT N00b 1.40.30.00 is not a ROM but a radio .nb so why dont you go read the wiki before you ask foolish questions and make a fool out yourself on this forum or end up bricking your device!!!! better yet just ship me your hermes and i'll take good care of it unlike you !!!!!!!!

They just came out with one then, I was in Rogers 2 weeks ago and they had no idea what I was talking about.
I have to agree with austinsync, you have days of reading ahead of you before you should be doing anything unless you prefer to try and make calls with a paper weight.
Thanks for the info re:rogers having HTC hermes.

Anyone succesfull hardspl a Neon400 yet??

Ive spent weeks researching my neon400, and the options I have with it, and I have discovered that there are no options! Or so it may seem.
I've tried to hardspl it a few times now, no luck, the sspl-nike does not work with it.
I want to know if anyone out there with a neon400 specifically has managed to hardspl thier device, and furthermore if they have managed to get any custom rom to work.
The neon400 actually has more in common with the diamond than any other niki or neon, it has a different processor chipset than any other touch dual variant, its CDMA not GSM and does not use a sim card. The chipset it uses is identicle to that of the HTC Diamond.
I think we're out of luck - the Neon400 is only sold in Canada, so people like you and me are SOL in terms of getting a new ROM.
It is similar to the Diamond, but not exactly, so the Diamond stuff doesn't work with it.
If somebody could instruct me or find some sort of hardspl developer's guide...I'd love to give it a shot.
I would even extract any info from the phone to assist some other developer. Right now, the current ROM eats up ridiculous amounts of memory...we need custom stuff!

Wow, this is rough, I have the Telus version, and I don't know how everyone else's phone behaves, but this thing's stock ROM is light years behind my previous Apache with custom ROM. It takes it close to 7 seconds to hang up a bloody call!! That's uncalled for
My girlfriend has the Telus version, she is who I'm trying to hack it for.
Her's is all right, and only that. It's def sluggish and needs a lot of the stupid crap removed.
I think this version also has GPS, which needs to be unlocked I believe.
the gps is already unlocked I have a Telus Neon 400 and it works great, mine also is solid in terms of speed and does not take 7 seconds to hang up a call. major issue for me is well i want WM6.5 so lets get cracking people what do we need to do to get a rom cooking.

Newbie to flashing - Best ROM for Sprint TouchPro

Howdy Folks,
First, I apologize up front about being such a newbie to flashing phones.
I've been reading through numerous forum threads and was just wondering if someone could point me to one of the best ROMs that I should use? I saw a number of them @ ppcgeeks and on here, including Vetvito's, RSTG, etc....but I wasn't sure which one I should use; there's just too many for me to choose! ;-)
Thank-You very much for any tips, I really appreciate the help!

It is really up to personal preference. If you are looking for speed, I would go for the NRGZ roms (at PPCGeeks). I used to use his stuff in my Raphael and they are blazing fast and stable (comes with the price of extended battery drain though).
MightyRom is also a good choice as well. After that, I returned my wife's TP, so I have not had a chance to play with Vevitto's stuff.
One last one, NFSFan... his roms for the Vogue are fantastic, so you may want to take those for a spin as well.
Like I said, ultimately, it is up to you...
Happy Flashing
Thanks for the tips! I guess I'll just have to try a few and see what I like!
One question that I just thought of.... Are there any that have 'good' battery life? I notice the mention of NRGZ being a little rough on the battery; I travel for work, so I don't believe I could handle anything that hits the battery any harder than the stock ROM. LOL
NFSFAN's latest TP ROM update is by far the best out there.

Thanks, You guys are awesome!
Sorry if this question sounds completely stupid (I'm very computer literate, but not very phone literate): I've been wondering about this - I keep seeing the term "unlocked"; does that mean that once this phone is unlocked that I could use the phone on another carrier (if I have a contract with them of course)? For instance, this is a Sprint HTC Touch Pro, and I have a contract with both Sprint (for this phone) and ATT for another phone (that I really don't like); would it actually be possible to use this Touch Pro with my ATT contract?

no, when you bought your sprint touch pro it was locked..you have to unlock it in order to flash your phone.

Actually, you will not be able to use this device for any GSM carrier (GSM meaning any carrier that uses a SIM card in the phone for it to get service). Sprint is a CDMA network, which means that you will only be able to flash it to another carrier by doing two things: unlocking the device to be able to install carrier specific files (PRL and such) and asking your prospective carrier to put your device's ESN into their database and adding it to your account (linking your MIN and MDS numbers to the phone's ESN).
Unlocking for a GSM device works slightly easier. If you SIM-unlock the device, you can change it from carrier to carrier without even having to tell them that you are using a different device.
On the same note, if you do not unlock the device and try to flash a rom, your will semi-brick the device. And if you flash a rom not intended for that device altogether, you will fully brick it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks to all for the replies! I've successfully updated the ROM on my phone and it looks and runs great! Having a slight problem though, it will no longer connect up with my system (VirtualBox/WinXP Guest). Was working fine before the update, so I'll play around with it and see if I can figure out what has changed.
Thanks again guys, I definitely appreciate it.

[Q] Just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G, however...

Hi guys,
I just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G from Ebay. However I was wondering, what ROM should I use, since I live in the Netherlands?
I already noticed a few roms here, however, since I live in the Netherlands, I want to know which one I should use for the best performance within my country.
Can someone please advice me?
Thank you very much.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's the cell phone from AT&T carrier. I already know where to unluck it, thanks to this forum!
I am really sorry if this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything on it on the forums for Dutch people. :S
You're welcome.

I apologize for Shaydar. That is an incredibly rude comment to make for absolutely no reason.
Make sure the ROMs are compatible with your network. I know that Canadian users were warned to avoid using certain ROMs at first.
However, I no longer own an Atrix, so you might need to some more research on the subject.

No problem, luckily there are some more decent folk around here. Oh well, I guess on every forum their are a few a..........
I never heard of a provider blocking a ROMs overhere in the Netherlands. But then again we are allowed a lot of stuff overhere, legalised soft drugs, red light district and so on. So I doubt it will going to block a custom ROM, but of course you never know.
So the ROMs, depending they aren't blocked, do work without problems with other countries, right? As a matter of fact, it doesn't matter what or who's ROM it is, the ROM itself doesn't provide the connection (phone/data/gps). Right?
Sorry if I misunderstood. Oh well; even if someone said it wouldn't work, it doesn't matter that much anymore, since the phone will arrive here within 2 days.
By the way, you returned the Atrix 4G? Didn't you like the phone or was there another reason?
I believe Canadian Atrix users have to use certain ROMs due to hardware compatibility. I'm no expert in Canadian Atrii but they've been waiting until very recently for an SPL that's compatible with their phones so I assume it's either compatibility between the ROM and the phone hardware (bootloader maybe?) or between the ROM and the network.
Sorry if I sounded rude.
All roms are just original firmware with skin and some mods.
Guess the guy sold his cell cause the bootloader was locked and some things like the real 4G, 1080p recording, and gingerbread are not yet available for the phone.
I am from france and all the roms avaible on this forum worked fine.
Got a preference for GreyBlur.
Enjoy your Atrix when you got it.
Mine cost me 425€ all costs in.

Okay thanks. After doing some researching I will be going to use the GladiAtrix2v4.2.3 (not themed) version.
Let's hope I manage to get it working properly.
On a sidenote; my phone didn't arrive yet.
One thing: don't be surprised when you don't see the earphones in the package.
At&T just don't provide them.... But there's a HDMI wire.... Weird choice...
And plug your phone to the wall-charger if it doesen't seem to boot.

Ah okay... I don't care much about earphones, though other people might. But thanks for the information.
Also thanks for the extra pointer regarding the wall-charger.
Darn... I also wanted to order the Motorola vehicle dock including rapid charger, but it seems they don't have that overhere yet or in my neighbouring countries. :S
Cleaned the thread, back on topic.
Simple question; is there a way to disable those annoying messages about updates?
I rooted and installed gladiatrix and it has been working perfectly since then. However I am not getting messages about installing an update (4.1.83.en.US).
I select "Install later" every time, however after 3 hours it's back and it's getting annoying. Or is the update safe to use on a rooted gladiatrix phone? If not, how can I disable these messages completely?
