Hello, I was wondering if someone, maybe dcd himself , could explain to me why the Vogue dialer from his kitchen does not have different graphic files for each button and each action (up/down)?
I'm trying to use the skins from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372098
I've currently put the numbers on the background image but I can't use the pressed animations.
These skins suppossedly work on the Touch (which IIRC is the Vogue) and someone in that thread even said they work on the Mogul. Should I have chosen the titan335 dialer in the kitchen?
Thanks ... and as always props to dcd and company for his work.
Not sure if this will work for you but when I run the kitchen I DO NOT select any dialer. This will install the standard WM6 dialer then I install the cab for the dialer I want after the phone is up and running. I made a custom dialer to match my matrix theme and never took the time to OEM it. Works fine when I do it that way. To be honest though I'm not sure about the animations you are speaking of.
Thanks for the reply. The animations I'm speaking of are the different images for a button pressed and not pressed. lllboredlll what optionsdid you choose when you compiled your carrier images in dcd's 3.01 thread? I tried your Verizon one too and it didn't work. Thanks.

He is essentially using an alternative. It doesn't seem as he is using the original TOUCH dialer because it might conflict with some Mogul / 6800 operations and is using an alternative.
Search for Mogul Big Button Dialer. This is closer to the dialer that he uses in his ROM's.
It essentially looks like the Touch dialer but you cannot assign skins to the keys when they are pressed. But you can skin the entire dialer.
You are free to install a true Touch Dialer or even the CAB that is called WizardRetouched. These are all alternatives, but conflict with some features on your 6800.
check out this post for more info on the Mogul Big Button Dialer " post 8"

Here is a pic of my dialer that I use on top of the Big Button Dialer CAB.

the all black one that he has on the pictures with blue writing on the buttons on the bottom
That's the Vogue one, you can select in in the kitchen [should be selected by default]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372098 search this thread. If you can't find one you like Google..... Vogue Dialer
I have searched for ways to skin dialer, most are themes or dialer (big button etc). but no one has offered a way to put a picture in the background of the existing dialer for 3.0.1.
I have the grass picture as my today background and would like to use the same idea for the dialer. Any other dialer that I have found is seriously deficient in some feature (911, smart dial, buttons disappearing, barfing). All I want to do is drop the jpeg behind DCDs dialer.
Any help?
if im not mistaken, big button places ALL the images used to create the dialer in the windows directory. by editing these files you could change the way it looked so i suppose you could just photoshop your grass into that file system
You will have to work with Dialer_BkgdL.png, Dialer_BkgdP.png, Progress_BkgdL.png and Progress_BkgdP.png for the vogue and htc dialpads, but if you have just the plain wm6 dialpad its a matter of matching the attributes of dlrback_port.png and dlrbackland.png in your windows folder and then replacing them with what you want. It's a very simple dialer to skin and make custom buttons for. I've never custom skinned one of the HTC dialers so maybe someone else knows what you will have to do.
If you want to use the wm6 dialpad and don't have it installed you will need to cook a ROM. If you want to use DCD's just simply don't select a dialer when cooking your rom. This will load the default.

I think you have the information backwards, or at least that is what I have read. In DCD's 3.01 kitchen if you want the wm 6 dialer do not select either of the dialers in the kitchen. I believe the HTC Vogue Dialer (PhoneCanvas) is a version of Paul_Hammons Mogul_Big_Button_Dialer which is easily skinnable by just overwriting image files in the windows directory. This dialer also does not break any CDMA functionality, AFAIK
Information on skinning Pauls dialer is available at http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/91652-sprint-native-big-button-dialer-theme-here.html
If I am wrong, I would like to be corrected as I have been fooling around with this for a while.

You are correct. I use that dialer and have made many themes. You can skin the dial pad, the background, the smartdial screen, status screen..... the only thing you can't really skin is the dial pad when it is being pressed. it just uses a solid color rather then an image.
But overall great dialer to work with, if you want to skin your own dialer.
Not true my friends... I have on my laptop a program and an OEM dialer that works great with it.... You can skin the dialer background and buttons ANY way you want.... even the keypress.... I am not by my laptop right now and can't remember the name, but gimme a couple hours....

So if I am correct.. Your allows you to skin the dial pad when pressed. ( So that the digit will still be displayed rather then just showing a solid color?)
Because I can skin the dial pad when pressed but it doesn't display the digit only a solid color that I want. ( This is for the Big Button Dialer -- Aka New Vouge)
If you are using the program to skin the orginal Vouge then yes you can, but that dialer messes some things up on the 6800 functions.

Hey bro. Here is the dialer skins that you might need. These are for the Big Button Dialer aka New Vogue.
Yes!!!
Dude you have just completed my phone. Grass background, Vista skin for MortPlayer, your dialer, and a custom S2U2 background of my daughter running
The cab is sweet, easy install and I can cook it into my rom next time. You are the MAN Carlos!!! A million thanks!
Did you find these or make them? Either way, thanks!

I made it with the help of the grass background you provided on your first post.
Sorry guys - Never got back to my laptop till now..... Here's the program and dialer I use....
I use Tiermanns Tdial Designer program from http://tiermann.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1:tdial-designer&catid=1esktop&Itemid=3
I works great with the Dialer I am uploading..... I made an OEM of the dialer. His program is real kool in that you can just drag and drop the files into the OEM dialer folder and replace them with yours OR it makes a CAB so you can just update the skin as needed..... SWEET program......
Sorry it took so long, and I'm glad Carlos helped ya out....
Now that our community knows how to skin dialers.. I say we post some of our unique work here.
Well not only to see what we all have but to share our work too.
I will upload mine later today. I dont got the files with me right now.
Here's my latest creation.... I had some Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders on there, but alas, the wife didn't like em.... go figure... lol
Thanks goes out to Tiermann - You da man.....
Edit: When you press the buttons on mine, the text and outlines turn red while the background of the buttons shades darker so you can see clearly what button your pressing....

Looks good.
One thing that I see is that in portrait view the call history and back buttons stay grey, as does the mute button in landscape.
Is there a way to make all the text one color?
When using the gloss functions there is no way to have white text?

When needed I just photoshop those files to match my dialer. I dont believe their is a way to change the color of those objects rather then just manipulating the image.
How does he manipulate the other number buttons? They are all png files, I don't see why those can't be included with the numbers, or even better, have their own color selection....
I'm not sure tiermann wants to go throug the hassle or if he has the time.... He's a busy man.....
Here is a couple of screen shots of my Reanimation Themed Dialer.
Also A vista big button dialer with different history and back buttons ( to show that you can change them by modifying them)
Is there a theme for this background because I applied it as a jpg and it was white and washed out, the dialer CAB looks Much better than the background Just using the JPG file. How did you make this your background thanks.

i tried the dialer a while back ( by installing his cab) and it doesn't support some CDMA features. It seems as this is for GSM.
You can fix this by installing his dialer first -- go into the /windows directory, and copy all of the png files associated with the dialer -- save them to your computer -- remove the dialer -- and copy the saved png's to your /windows and you should be good..
no loss of functionality but with all of the looks.
I hope the GSM version isn't cooked in the ROM.

You know what else you can add to your this theme to make it a bit better. optional Poorlyduck HTC Home Theme , optional Vista Cube, optional Vista Skin for S2u2, optional Vista Skin Splash screen, and if users use psshutxp optional Vista Skin for that.
Well that is what I did for mine.
Ohh yeah I saw your dialer screenshot on ppc geeks and it shows two call call history things.
If you still haven't been able to remove the annoying one ( the small text ) you can remove it using the registry to eliminate the "call history" text
go to HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin/Dialer/Portrait (Landscape)/verbbutton/
change the following
textflags = 986895 (dec)
Can you provide CDMA compatible vista theme dialer OEM? I have it on my PPC but I just modify the gfx and not use actual dialer, so i can't get graphical effects like the real one can have.
CommManager OEM also, if possible!
OEM's please. nice job

ill include of set of files for the dialer but I modified it a bit. I made the dialer look like the big button dialer.
Ill include a screen shot.
I want the Vista dialer with the individual button graphics for each number and symbol... lol

manilla 2D
Did you use the kitchen to cook your own ROM? If yes then there are several phone themes in there that will get you the large buttons.
If not then you can do a Google search for XDA or PPCGeeks for bluefrog. This should get you a good dialer as well as several skins.
I have WM 6.5 with M2D.
Where can I change the backlight, change ring/vibrate (without using side keys) and how to know we have a lost call? (I dont have call history on first screen, I only have a button on taskbar...)
WM6.5 is very finger friendly, but there are some things like this that are annoying me
How to control the lock system ?

It depends on wich rom you are using but let's give it a try,
- Backlight: start/settings/system/power/backlight
- Change ring/vibrate: start/settings/personal/phone
- Change volume: with the side-keys on your phone, or on the topbar by touching the speaker (not in all versions) and for vibrate by pressing the # button on your keypad (not in all roms)
- lost call: You see a notification on your screen if you missed a call otherwise go to the dialer-menu.
There are more ways to get the same result, so go playing with your phone and you'll see it for yourself.
Hope I helped you a little bit in the right direction.

Ok two problems solved By the way, there's not a way to place a shortcut on "Programs" of anything of "Setting" ? Just for programs ?
One still to solve. The problem is: in my screen I dont have a line 'missed calls'. It's selected on M2DC but I just cant bring it. I tried aply themes from here:

Themes .cab dont work (png's over png's and so on), extracting .zip on \Windows same thing, and importing .m2CT crash M2DC Customizer. Have any idea how cant I change M2D Theme? (2.0.1920.1520 TouchFLO)

Hi again, for your programs make a shortcut of folderview.exe, you can find it in your windowsfolder and copy it to windows/start menu/programs.
The version of Touchflo you are using I'm not sure which one that is but if you want to learn more of m2dc just go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392&highlight=manilla
Hopefully you can find your answer there.

By the way, how to install that bottom bar we see in many WM6.5 ROMS? (With start icon, back button and X button but on the bottom).
Also how to get taskbar without start button ?
I saw many roms with and without, confused if its WM6.5 function or not.

Ok to get back to your question, it just depends on what rom you are using proberly you are now using the naked version from DJ, and that is a com 2 branch, it means that it don't have a bottombar, in my signature you see a rom I made and that is one with bottombar also DJ made beautiful rom's with bottombar just search for his threads.

There is an app for that - I have a link on my insomnia thread for the cab - here is the link to the thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542482
