Hi,
I'm the proud owner of a T-Mobile MDA II with vga camera. Half an hour ago I happend to find this interesting forum.
What is this Windows Mobile 2005? I've never heard of it. I searched the Microsoft website, but I didn't find anything.
I have no idea which OS is installed on my MDA... the ROM version is 1.72.01GER (in case that helps).
So... in case I want to upgrade my MDA.... what do I have to do, where do I get the files from etc. And, what is this upgrade all about? Is it a totally new OS, or what is it? I have no idea
Thanks for your help
Bye

Hi Bauer,
I too am a newbee. Just joined this forum about a month ago. If I may give you a clue ( though I'm not an expert in it), the Windows Mobile 2005 is supposed to be the next mobile phone OS from Microsoft. It is said to have many more user-friendly features than the one you are currently using. However it has not yet been officialy released in the market (I even doubt if its ready yet). But thanks to our great Buzz Lightyear (http://buzzdev.net) we are fortunate to get the taste of the new promised features. Buzz had managed to create his own version of the said OS and named it the Magneto. Why don't you try to drill further into other area of this forum or go to http://buzzdev.net. I'm sure you'll get the idea, and as it happened to me I'm sure you'll like it too. Good Luck.
Hi again Bauer,
Regarding the question as to where to get ROM upgrade, you can try this link http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=124&Itemid=32 to get the copy of the new ROM upgrade. However you are supposed to register yourself first to be able to access the link. There (and in this forum too) you will get a clear description & instruction for the ROM upgrade.
I would also like to get this opportunity to apologize to the forum (especially to Buzz and the development team) for not being polite enough to say 'thank you' for all the work you've done. I've had no significant problem with either the upgrading process or the tweaking around with both hardware and software (incl. 3rd parties). Everything works fine with my machine since day one I did the upgrade. I love the work. Thank you all, and have a nice day.
Hi Bauer,
Spend time reading the wiki site too which will provide you with a lot of background about your new toy and the sort of things you can tweak/ develop or pick up that others have done.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
Also learn to use the search function of this website as you can find most of the answers for yourself without relying upon good folk to give the same advice to the next newbee in the queue asking the same questions ('nuff said, we've all been newbees at sometime).
Once you've read relevant parts of the wiki and are comfortable that you want to risk changing your ROM (there are numerous pitfalls you risk (e.g. warrantee invalidation) and ultimately totally killing your machine if you have two left feet/ power surge/ massive bad luck etc) search these forums will educate you to the experiences of others developing/ beta testing/ exploring. Buzz's versions of WM5 are narrated a:

Remember to pay due homage to all his hard work.
Beyond that enjoy.

StarTrek goes wiki
A wiki page has been opened for the StarTrek
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_StrTrk
Please look here before asking questions on the forum.
All users can edit this page so you can all add information thus making it a better source of information.
It has the structure of the Blueangel wiki so you can use that as templet.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Will somebody please redo this page to keep it inline with the rest,
The structure should be like the Blueangel
I will remove this later

wiki updated
Guys, I've updated the wiki to include info on how to flash ROM's (most common question it seems), as well as giving it a quick tidy up to bring it in line with the other XDA wiki's
Feel free to add/change as required but let's try to keep the ROM links up to date, if possible.
Andrew
http://www.spv-developers.com/strtrkCID/ don't work. There's just a message write on white sheet. Is it normal?
This is not the thread to ask this question... it has nothing to do with the wiki...
The page works fine... try a different ISP.
Sorry , now the link works fine. The moderator can delete my message if he wants.

Just picked up a Finnish S411 from Hong Kong yesterday, after my T-mobile TP2 took a dump.
I work hard all day and the touch screen phones get fuked up, Newton rings, screen scratches, lose of touch screen sensitivity... etc
I've always been a flip phone guy, but have never liked there OS's, or performance, models like the BB flip although very nice locked you out of so much I felt restricted and strangled.
Love the freedom and availability of winmo apps
The HTC Startrek, is the only winmo Flip phone HTC. And I love it so, lets keep Rom Development alive!!!!
I'm currently using V9c its a nice build, can't comment on Stock because the Stock ROM was Finnish only
But having had cooked Winmo Roms on my Eten M800, Touch Pro, and my TP2 and I can say its missing alot of custom support.
No option for open close sound, etc
PLEASE STICKY THIS!
The purpose of this thread is to consolidate all software, roms, and information on the HTC Touch Dual Neon400.
The Neon400 was released as the CDMA version of the Touch Dual in Canada to Bell and Telus exclusively thus far. At this point in time this exact model is ONLY available in canada to Telus Mobility and Bell Mobility clients.
The Neon400 sports some MAJOR changes to previous Neons and the Niki. Inside it actually has more in common with the HTC Touch Diamond than a traditional Touch Dual (Nike). The specs are as follows:
Qualcomm MSM7501A 528mhz Processor (Same as Diamond)
ROM-capacity: 256 MiB (Same as traditional Nikes)
RAM-capacity: 160 MiB (Higher than Nike, Lower than Diamond)
Full GPS Capability
Same GPU / Graphics capability as Diamond (Altho no 3d interface software provided)
Rumored to have Wifi (neither provider has the drivers/wifi enabled if that is the case).
Both Telus and Bell ship the phone with WM 6.1 Pro as an OS.
Because of the limited availablity of the Neon400, and the vastly different specs, and the fact that it has only been available since Sept. 2008. There is next to none (I have yet to find any) software or rom flashes/upgrades available.
This thread serves as a place for the few of us who have Neon400's to test out new ideas, share modding experiences, give, and receive advice.
Few of my questions right off the top:
Will the previously established methods for unlocking Nike's work for this model? (anyone yet tested?)
Are there any TESTED and COMPATIBLE Roms that work on the Neon400 thus far?
Is anyone currently working on the above projects?
Thank you and Welcome Neon400 users! Lets take advantage of the extra horse power in our HTC Nike's and get things rolling!
instead of neon400, how about all neons? i have the neon300, all pretty much the same (of what you can install on it)
I just got my Neon400 a couple weeks back.
Hopefully we can get some ROM's going for this....the battery life is killin' me!

Always use the top search option to find answers : ) Very easy. This is for the Neon
Unfortunately this method doesn't work for the Neon 400. I should know, I tried. The screen turns black and you need the reset the phone.
So,no, the top search option doesn't work here.
yep i bid we should set upsomething like payment for someone who makes a hacked spl for this phone im willing to pay im sick of the bugs i really liked the touch so much sopport but for this one nothing there has to be someone out there that casn do this

You would think it would have to be somebody who has access to the phone. Since nobody else but Canadians can use it, I don't think there's much hope that any of the regular SPL writers would be able to do it.
I hope I'm wrong though. I've tried to PM Olipro asking for help, but to no avail.
We're seeking into this issue. If anyone got an original (shipped) rom for neon400, let me know.
Cya,
Viper BJK
I was able to extract the .raw files from my Telus "Neon", using the Kaiser tutorials, if this helps? I didn't know what to do beyond that...

I'm unsure if one exists. At least, I can't find one on any of the sites (bell.ca, telus.com, pdcphones.com, htc.come etc). I also heard from the Telus salesman that the phone is being discontinued. That's bad for updates. I don't know about Bell.
need HARDspl
if there is one its for the jap version of the neon400 dont know what good that would do
and as for updates htc site would have them if telus would not right it only makes sence
is there a way to extract the rom off my phone ?
neon 400's are also available in Gsm quad band not just cdma.
I've found a nice alternative to HSPL here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334667&page=10 and I've asked there if anyone used it on HTC Mega with no response.
So I'm opening this thread here and maybe anyone who knows better will light us up about how we can use JumpSPL safely with HTC Mega and what is the jump address for this device?

I would wait in your place to HardSPL before you make of your phone a paperweight. ..
anybody explain why is it so dangerous ? i know only that JumpSPL is more succesful on old devices ... but why ? and what's the real difference ?!

technically HSPL is very similar to JSPL and SSPL... with just one factor difference... HSPL has overwrite protection..... finding the memory jumpmaddress is easy... but making the SPL stable for the device is tough especially since HTC has improved security on newer MFG bootloaders.... SO WAIT FOR HSPL.. or youll end up witha very expensive paperweight
Jump SPL needs a SPL to load and jump to.
Unless someone feels like patching a Stock SPL to be a SSPL then this won't work. (this is where cmonex comes in )
And for the love of God, please don't test any other devices JumpSPL / SSPLs.
Dave
Thanks for the answer.

* Mod EDIT *
There seems to be a significant amount of animosity in the forums of late. I'm not certain as to why this is, nor do I want to hear any reason for justification; what I do know is that it is unacceptable. Additionally, signatures that encourage negative responses simply serve to fuel this type of conduct; such as your current signature:
"The next person who asks for it to be rushed will have to have their Mega surgically removed from a very unpleasant place."
@ALL:
XDA is about bringing together folks who have similar passions about mobile technology. In all cases, it is the responsibility of all members to remain respectful of one another. We all have different opinions, we do not all have the same level of knowledge, and some folks are looking to feel like they are learning while trying to contribute.

Ok, as previous DFT work, i was authorized from DFT Admin to post here their last release, The Green mango.
Here is a description (credits goes to zjw831 from DFT site) :
Sequence: Yesterday generation WP7 native machine release upgrade WP7 mango systematic approach, many people through this method to upgrade to Microsoft beta mango System (7661), although updated, system settings can not be set Chinese language (that is, no Chinese UI) , but the new system brings a multi-task and Chinese input method, and speed improvements. Visible, Microsoft released a year later WP7 improvement is still very large.
Through the efforts of DFT, the king of generation HD2 can experience the fun of mango, and green mangoes (not ripe mango) will be held today Login DFT. HD2 machine faithful cheer it. Than the generation of this ROM to upgrade the machine native WP7 bring more surprises, including five languages ??(Traditional 0404, 0407 German, 0409 English, 0419 Russian, 0804 U.S.). The new UI brings new Chinese experience, this is the generation of native machine now does not have. Haha (happy ah). Microsoft's Chinese UI, but it seems far to the edge Yeah, he slowly and understand it (note that this is the green mango).
Official ROM is completely tested style, no escape-related operations, and there is a serious BUG, mobile phone shops get in, but putting that loud, after all, green mango, we go slowly test it.

wow,thanks, flashing right now
Nice to see it 'officially' released if this is indeed 'official'?
Absolutely love it!
Why didnt DFT release this themselves?
Anyway - does anyone know if it's possible to alter the physical key mappings, id like them a little different if possible?
Cheers
Paul
It is official 100% , DFT didnt posts themself for their personal reasons that if they want will be say.
Original thread : darkforcesteam.com.cn/thread-25819-1-1.html
About the mapping, i really dont know, maybe you can register in the adove link and ask to the devs.
Cheers

+1 would like to know too?
Nice! Is it possible to see a CWM version of this in the future?
hello! I installed with success and now I want to get back to wm 6.5.
How to uninstall ?
thank you.
Boot into HSPL and flash a WM6.5 ROM of your choice as per normal.
2 Questions
Question regarding the SD card.
Can it be removed before installation and then re-added after complete so that it does not partition the SD card? Or will it still partition it after its inserted? Or will it just not allow a proper installation?
Can WP7 be added with Magldr 1.11 since in the screenshot it says you need at least Magldr 1.09 to install it?
You can just re-flash a Windows Mobile 6.5 Rom and everything will go back.

No changes for me. I cannot charge when the phone is turned off..
Oh man; so what if Christmas was 3 weeks ago. Thanks to all at DFT.
Understood about Live Services and syncing of calendar/contacts. But will it still sync with (my work) exchange server? That would help in making me decide to toss out WP6.5/Adnroid.
