Which ICQ Client? - HTC Startrek

Hi.
Does any ICQ Client work? I tried QIP newest version, doesnt connect. Also tried Prelude ICQ, doesnt connect either. Is there some client which work? Or does anybody can say, what to do that one of the two programms mentioned, connect? thanks

use latest mChat

hm.. thanks for the answer.
but it seems, that mchat 2.3 is not compatible with windows mobile 6.1 standard.
i tried several downloaded .cabs
wasnt able to install one of them.
beside, if you know, pdf reader? free?
found foxit and adobe reader so far.
but they cost a lot of money

Hi bloodyking!
Try this one: http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick
Works well with windows mobile 6.0.

It seems that I am stupid <.<
Because that programm cant connect either.
Dont know what I am doing wrong. IE is working well.

ICQ client
I use Palringo which covers off touchscreen and non touch screen. There are version for other platforms as well. Quite well done. It covers off MSN,Gtalk, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo chat, iChat etc. I have used it on iPhone, my HTC S710 and my Cingular 3125 without a problem. Almost useless on an iPhone given the lack of background tasks.

Customized 1.72.181 Extended ROM

This extended ROM is based on the latest UK release of 1.72.181, and was customized for asian users of the Xda II.
All the latest versions of the software in the base ROM are included, minus all O2 UK custom settings and software, however all configuration settings are set to the old Asian extended ROM version 1.60.44.
I also added the latest drivers/software for the Socket Communications SDIO Wifi card and the Xda II Thumb Keyboard which automatically install as a part of the post install tasks.
I had to remove the Java MIDlet Manager included in the base ROM since the size limit of the extended ROM was exceeded, and I also removed the O2 Active UI since it is customized for O2 UK users. I included the installer .CAB file for the MIDlet Manager in the .ZIP file so that it can be installed manually after the ROM upgrade if desired.
I am currently using this custom extended ROM now and have not encountered any problems. It is ideal for Asian users of the Xda II.
Enjoy...

The actual file size is 8.2MB
You are aware that build 181 is for those who need Blackberry, WAP and Mobile Web to remain connected when a phone call is received. It will disconnect any GPRS connection running, requiring a manual re-connection of GPRS.
Build 187 allows GPRS to remain connected when receiving a call. I suspect this is the PRIMARY build everyone should use.
The reason I mention this is that at this point I haven't heard what differnces there are in the Extended ROMs (specifically).
Blackberry support
Yes I am aware that this is the one for Blackberry, I customized this one because my provider, Globe Telecoms, has Blackberry service.
Have you connected to the Blackberry service?
We dumped Blackberry since it has crappy PDF/Excel/Word/Project support. We now use Pylon Anywhere and Pocket PCs, must say this solution is better than Blackberry.
THanks

Umm, if you read the documentation, you'd see that the Mobile Web and/or blackberry connection will remainconnected. All others will not, therefore unless you connect to GPRS without the default settings, it doesn't really matter.

Yes, it is part of the O2Active stuff.
Ultra Profiler
As dcs mentioned, it is part of O2 Active UI.
I cant remember exactly where in the forum I got it from before, but there is a way to get just the Ultra Profiler and enable it on your unit. Try doing a search in the forum, the instructions and necessary files were provided.

I found a post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4278
However, it is from way back, so someone with the current version of O2 Active installed needs to build the same solution.

Could you please post the link to download your customised ROM? BTW, how do find with that customized ROM? Is that all stable and the bluetooth has been improved a lot?

Its actually on the first post, but my friend also experienced problems with the download link not appearing, so here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=1623
since they upgraded the site, you would need to log-in first before you can see attachments on threads.

I tried playing around with the Blackberry software but i guess only O2 UK users can benefit from it at the moment. Has anyone else in Asia or other countries besides UK tried it out?
Zeroxtreme,
Did the blackberry work for you? Do u also have the sync prog for the desktop? isnt this required when u first connect the blackberry to the desktop to sync Lotus notes?
thanks
Blackberry service
You will have to be a subscriber to the Blackberry service before getting it to function.
Globe Telecoms provide this service, I also know that Smart is also providing it.
I am still in the process of inquiring if the service can be subscribed to without purchasing the Blackberry device.
actually, yes, i am aware that we need to subscribe. Our company supports the feature as well in our domino server.
Have you tried it already though?
thanks

Yahoo and Aol Messenger for the Mogul like MSN?

I have searched the web for yahoo and Aim messenger for wm6 and can't find it. does any know where or if they even make it for our phones?
IM
Sorry bud. I dont know about AIM because I don't use it, but Yahoo is definitively a no-no. I think its to do with deals between Yahoo and the carriers so you have to use their own IM engines.
But you can easily get around the problem. Just install a 3rd party app that can run all the different IMs. I use Slick. It can run MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ etc., in one interface. Its not as "slick" as yahoo, but more than adequate for a QVGA screen.
You can get it here.. http://www.hotlinkfiles.com/files/694662_kifqj/slick_0_30.zip

slick from lonely cat's website. The cab is somewhere in it.....
slick
Sorry, I gave you a dud link. I would check at the lonely cat website as suggested by hindjew1. I have it running on my machine with MSN, Yahoo and ICQ. Works perfectly with my WM6.1 titan.
If you cant find it PM me and I will send you the cab file that works for me.

no i have it on my wing but ny wife wants it on her wing.
Well a search at ppcgeeks turned up this. I haven't tried it because slick is just fine for me. You might give tis a try. the post that had this mentioned that it was for a vogue so it should be a WM6 program.
It comes standard on blackberry's and as you can tell from my name, i am an ex-blackberry user. Thats where I came up with the blackberry reference. Sorry for the bad info before.

SETH´s NEON V3 FINAL & V3 LIGHTER

SETHS V3 FINAL & V3 LIGHTER
Band Patch added thanks to BenMHarvey.
This is the Rom i have been using for the last month, it was going to be the ongoing work from V2.
I have made the decision not to develop Neon Roms anymore, so this is very much my last project. There are a few people that i would like to thank on this forum for their support through my learning process and i wish them best with their future devices. (They know who they are)!
I´m not really to bothered about Rom builds and numbers, my only objective was to find a Rom that worked well with my device. And being happy with this current one i have used it for months.
This Rom is UC compliant, basically you install what you want and have complete control of new cabs that you might want to add on.
Its simple:
1st - Create a document in notepad called SDConfig.txt
2nd - Add this text onto the file:
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Storage Card\Cabs\Opera Default Browser Registry.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\Cabs\DiamondCalculatorSkin2.cab
LOCK: Disabled
RST: Reset
3rd - Change or add the name of the cabs you want to install on your device.
4th - Save the file onto the root of your storage card.
5th - Create a Folder called "Cabs" on your storage card and place your cabs there.
Note: The name of the files have to be the same as the ones you typed in the SDconfig file.
Now when you install your new Rom, the cabs will be installed automatically.
Attached is my sample SDconfig file.

Removed Apps:

Some Ringtones
Just in case you prefer a lighter version with more space, besides that exactly the same as V3... And very fast.

Hope all you Neon users enjoy.

I think you're the only, or one of a few, people developing for the NEON. Your rom's are the only ones I've tried on my NEON that actually work for any ammt of time! Don't go! Was it something we said? The lack of donations? Bummer....Thanks for your hard work and the contribution you made to this forum.
thanks for your great work
I'm with the previous reply. Please don't go, Seth. I just went from V2 to V3 and I finally have a phone that works the way I want. If its a matter of donations, let us know. If we need to be more vocal about a seperate forum, I'll shout it out.
Please, don't stop.
Bump
New Rom added.
Seth does this fix the band issue that was in V2??
Edit: Still suffers from incorrect bands
Works great Seth, its sad to see you leave mate new rom looks great
any screenshots of this ROM?
Looks just like his V2 but better some great additions and lots of handy little things added akes it one of the best roms to flash and go no need for lots of changes

I have also noticed you have left of the java VM is there a way this can be added?
Thanks Wookienow.
I have the same problem in Opera 9 and 9.5. It works good in V 8.65.
Telstra Foxtel on Next G - How?
Hi All, thanks to my good friend Mike and seth, I now hope I have a faster NEON200 having just completed the leap of faith and upgraded my workhorse phone However, I miss my Foxtel TV - anyone got a streaming player and a way to have the Telstra WAP Gateway authenticate my NEON200 as a bonafide Telstra device so that I can watch Foxtel TV again? Thank you.

Well I did pick on something else as well as not being able to play Foxtel mobiletv anymore, and that is the calc.exe was missing its skin SpbCalc_P.gif so here it is for those who want to use this O/S ROM by seth. Once you unzip it and drag it over to your NEON, it has to sit in the /Windows directory of your NEON because calc.exe looks for it as /Windows/SpbCalc_P.gif

Well the answer is, after some surfing of this quality forum and also whirlpool, to watch Telstra Foxtel in all its glory (after you've subscribed of course) you just need to change the User Agent in the NEON200 registry from HTC_TouchDual Mozilla/4.0 to HTC_P5530 Mozilla/4.0 and also point your APN telstra.internet through the Telstra WAP gateway proxy of 10.1.1.181:80 and point Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE) to the URL of mobiletv.telstra.com None of this bizo of loading telstra cab files or default i-mate cab files (those cab files don't work and just add irrelevent Telstra and i-mate files to your NEON200).
What's more, by creating 2 different internet accessing connection profiles - one that uses the WAP proxy and one that doesn't - you can still watch all the free stuff on YouTube with the profile that doesn't use the proxy !!!
Work will be happy as well because I can still access my MS Exchange push email from my workhorse NEON200 LOL. Only now I won't feel like throwing it at the wall after it resets when when I want to make a phone call, or simply can't dial international without soft reseting the bloody thing.
Shall post up later how I started off with a slooooow Telstra off-shelf HTC Touch Dual 850 (NEON200) and got to the point where I am today thanks to Seth, Mike and other posters on this forum and on whirlpool. I ain't saying yet I'm happy with what I got, because I haven't had a chance to really use what I have now for any period of time. But I am hoping it will be a lot better than what I had based on comments in this thread
It's late now past 2am and I'm tired after working most of the day on this as well as my day job - what a day !!!

[Resources]Working AT&T CV Videos, Mobitv, Media Net and Media Mall on custom roms
I could not find a thread with a working solution. After hours of testing and reading I have a working solution for AT&T CV Videos, Mobitv, Media Net and Media Mall on custom roms. I have not tested on none AT&T phones but it should still work.
1 Install custom rom
2 Install opera.ini to \windows\opera9 or \Application Data\opera9
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=6d3a1e8e1f30ec60d2db6fb9a8902bda
3 Go to start\settings\systems\about\device id. Change device name to HTC_P4600
4 Soft reset
Go to cingularvideo.cingular.com and try watching a video. Media Net and Media Mall works as well for downloading games, ringtones and more. If you use mobitv then go to http://www.mobitv.com/supporteddevices/unitedstates_mobile_at&t_mobitv.php# and put in your mobile phone # to get new version.
Note: Some roms do not work. Htc streaming media will fail to play video (File re-entry error). Patch is posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3236379&postcount=1584 Thank you NotATreoFan for fixing the cab.
You mentioned on Rup's thread that you got CV to play using his 4.3 rom- is that correct. I have stayed with his v3.3 rom because I have almost no issues with it. The only one being that I have never been able to get CV to work again.

I don't know if this helps but I went to the internet proxy settings and put in the following:
wireless.cingular.com
saved setting and Media Net worked...but 1 problem came up:
I lost between 500-600 kbits in speed. I was getting 1800-2000 kbits on my Fuze before and then after I was only getting 1300 to 1400. My guess is that going through the proxy slowed me down.

Thank you Thank You Thank You!
It's really been bugging me that my Fuze, "the most powerful Windows Mobile phone yet", hasn't been able to do something I could do on my 8125 and Tilt!
I don't use Cingular Video a ton, but I used it some, and I always want all my options available.
Thanks again. You're the Ace of the Day!
Opera settings to enable CV
I just ran across an interesting piece of info- This might be of benifit. This is from this page. http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/howto/how_to_make_your_fuze_bloatfre.html
Here's how to get Cingular Video working in Opera again:
In Opera, enter "opera:config" as the URL.
Scroll down, expand Proxy, and for the HTTP and HTTPS Servers, enter "wireless.cingular.com:80" and check Use HTTP and HTTPS.
Scroll down to User Prefs, and for Customer User-Agent, enter: "HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
That seems to do it. For PIE, I think the CAB in the Windows folder called "restoreHiddenProxy4CWS.cab" is supposed to fix it. For me, it makes device.home work (whoopty do!) but the cingular video pages come up as XML code.
Update- I tried changing these settings by themselves to no avail. What is posted on the first page ot this thread works. Sorry didn't mean to add confusion.
Thank you so much for this thread, this has been an issue that I have been working on for a while.

I have this in the opera.ini from the first post.
Link this thread to RRE's
Very good work body. I see that some people here mentioned they are using RRE's ROMs. Since RRE's is a FUZE ROM and the majority are AT&T costumers. Maybe it should be a good idea to ask "arupp" to have a link on his first post to this one, I asure you it will help a lot and save people a lot of time.
PD: not only for RRE's but all others creating FUZE ROMs.
Control Graphics off
I installed the .cab fix for CV that you have in your third post and it made it work... but the only problem I have is that the controls graphics of the player are messed up. I attached a screenshot.
Step 3 isn't needed. That's just what the default Fuze is set at. You can change it to whatever you want. The important stuff is the proxy settings and the user agent. That's the only thing AT&T's servers can read, and thus the only settings needed.
As a demonstration, if you have firefox, you can set the proxy to wireless.cingular.com and the user agent to HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) and browse MediaNet and watch CV.
The file in post 3 is for roms that get file re-entry error while trying to play cv videos with htc streaming media. If you do not get a error do not use cab from post 3. The menu is weird after cab install. I am working on a fix.
Nah, not post #3, Step #3 in post #1 isn't needed.
