as i have been reading in other post by users of any rom version that is based on cloudyfa's lates rom (S4V.19209.01), there are two major bugs:
- beam/infrared not working
- keypad backlight only working until switched off
moreover, i found a lot of residues of voip in the registry. i once read voip is supposed to be an integral part of wm6.1, which i have never noticed...
anyway, if we all put our heads together, maybe we will find a solution, since cloudyfa has not yet replied to my message concerning this topic here.
so, let's get down to work!
Good idea!
I remember the IR-thing has been mentioned before concerning an other ROM. For the moment I can't find wich one but I will report back if I found out.
Now I think about it, the hardware button light problem was there too, a few month ago. It seems that old issues have revived...
Can't comment on the other issues you mention, but IR is working for me (at least I did one file transfer) - don't use VoIP due to slow access speeds with GPRS.
ir is working for me too after you load wm6 the system turns off just turn it off and take battery out for 5 seconds then put it in and give a hard reset ,it erase charges to entire circuit board .
keypad issue was in gullum 7 so he must know how did he solve it in gullum 8
a cab for voip may be used for voip issue
although apart from keypad light issue ,when i use wifi the battery just goes down at unbelievable rate (1 hour or 50 minutes and device turns off) and sometimes device automatically shuts down around 40% battery left (while wifi being used) and gets heated too. although my battery is 10 months old now ,i can't figure out why wifi behaves so badly. a person who has used wifi on wm5 can atleast tell how many hours of wifi usage of wifi used to bring down 100% to 10%
yep this ROM is definitely energy-hungry, but IR is working with me too
I think, using the WM5 drivers for the keyboard and wifi may resolve some of these issues! I shall cook something up now with these changes and see what (if anything) is working better.
This ROM is slower than the ShadoW 2.0 Clean on my Prophet! Oo
So I still use the ShadoW 2.0 Clean (modded for my personal use) but I want the WPA2 drivers (with AES support) from Prophet S4V.19209.01! Any chance to get them working with my ROM?
well, concering speed i can only say that in my eyes cloudyfa's rom is pretty quick. only boot time is noticably longer.
i have already tried to recook the rom with a wm5 driver for the keyboard. but for some strange reason this bloody thing will not work. i never encountered such problems when playing around with the touch.dll. the keybddr.dll cloudyfa used is kind of weird as it says "for test use only" in the file properties. it is not even a module and also differs in size compared to other keybddr.dlls.
so, that is pretty much it what i can tell.

Because there's Startup Animation in ROM, it's disable by default, you can active it!

nice. some people and also me do have trouble with it though. in my case, i cannot establish a connection to my notebook via ir, which works right away under wm5.
could it be hardware related?
In this post, I would like to talk about two bugs that I have been getting till now:
- "Hung up". Only softreset can help.
- Typing SMS. To wait for a word appearing after typing is so slow.
Besides, entering the windows takes about 10 seconds. And releasing RAM memory is really not a strong point of this ROM.

Infrared works with me too.
mmm.. Cloudyfa's newest ROM is coming .
WPA 2 Support seems to be the first revolution I think.
Today I was at electronic shop (SATURN). Search something there. I take a look for HTC Touch, TOUCH DUAL and Atom Life.
Look up for this feature on official ROM WM 6.
And I found no WPA 2 Support there.
On OFFICIAL ROM WM 6. NO WPA2 SUPPORT FEATURE.
And it seems our Prophet has this feature for the first time. Since WM 5, which has its feature.
Cloudyfa. You are the best.
You are GOD OF PROPHET.
I cant agree with you any more

Both. HAve you made a hard reset after flashing? HAve you flashed from a no vendor WM5?
CIao
I updated from TrueNeytral 1.3, probably i have to downgrade to WM5 before?
thanks
I just installed this ROM (only worked at the 2nd time) and these are my first impressions about it:
- The splash screen is blue and the logo looks blurry. Looks like it was edited.
- Extended ROM customization started automatically.
- COMM Manager looks like the old WM5 one (is it?)
- WiFi seems to work flawlessly
- Charges from USB (over 260mA)
I'll explore it some more and let you know
EDIT: I am upgrading to WM6 from this WM5 ROM:
JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_ship (after the upgrade i update the radio to 2.69.21).
Thank you John-Wu for the link, a rom with very good face:
- And a lot of free memory, Many free ram. I like
- Wi-fi work rapidly and very well, I like.
- BT working good, I like.
- Rapid and stable, I like.
- Battery, consumes very much 1 % in 40 minutes (In stand_by and the screen off), I do'nt like.
it does not charge in the cigaret lighter of the car, I do'nt like
Greetings

YEAH! everything going okay. It has a build already used before by other roms i had. So the feeling is quite good in general. Now i am waiting as tiggerbcn does to see this whole night consumption. With trueneytral 1.2clean 8 hours was -3%. We'll see with this Vietnamese what happens.
I am pretty happy that we still continue checking with all these developments. Anyway this roms have a similar behavior as they are build 17217. I am waiting for TRUENEYTRAL's 1.3 fixed which is build 17913. So we may test something really new

Is anyone cooking Wizard's "WM6 Official Release MS 10.0.15342.0" rom for Prophet?
It seems to be the fastest and more stable ROM available so far. And given that it has new WIFI drivers, maybe it fixes the bug that WIFI only turns on sometimes.
There are also reports that this rom gives alot more battery time then the former ones.

Even thus it is more recent, it seems that 10.0.15342.0 is the best version for Wizards

Os 5.2.968 (build 17217.0.0.0.0)

- Active sync over BT stays goods after reset
-Sip look nice and is pretty fast
rest, nothing special to report, those willing can try for themselves.

Can you keep running this version and see?
There are a few things that we want in these beta ROMs.
Priority:
1. Stability: No frequent hangs, no missing calls, not to drain battery.
2. Usability: Basic WiFi, BT, Windows Live, IR ....
3. Speed
4. Good look and features
4. Good looks
Sorry reverted back to 4.0.0.3a
So... What is the best?
4.0.0.0.3a?
Or
4.0.0.0.4??
I think a3 is a bit faster than 4! right?

depends on what you want.. do u want speed or do you want the look.. to be honest, .4 rocks when it comes to looks.. you aint gonna get somethin' better lookin' than .4 at this moment. on the other hand if speed matters, then go for .3a.. but a word of caution, don't expect .3a to be perfect... there already have been known wifi issues and some bt issues too.. but all-in-all its perfect taking in consideration more buggyones than .3a out there..
I'm still waiting the perfect and stable Rom ....
there is no such thing as perfect.. perfect is based upon our own perspective.. when things that we need are fulfilled successfully, we call that thing perfect. have you ever heard about a perfect phone, a perfect computer, or a perfect software.. i dont think so because there is always something n something that the programmer/creator forgot to consider and thus there are some flaws in it.. so i dont think perfect will ever come straight into our face.. its a matter of us looking for it..
Hi,
I guess in this case that perfect means stable (no SMS, wifi or BT troubles)

Yup...absolutely right...current, i am using PDAViet 4.0.0.0.4 version and have trouble (sometime hang). in one day i can soft reset twice until third time and closing application suddenly. (it rare happened)
I use 4.0.0.3 (NOT 4.0.0.3a with no WiFi or BT problems. MMS works like charm. The only bugs I've noticed so far is the "word completion" module, that does not store new words and sometimes (rarely) wrongly redrawing Today screen.

It would be very helpful, if you tried both roms you mention, & report back here with your findings.
@P4k1t0
SMS is working fine in 4.0.0.03, but zoomsms (from eten) doesn't work. This always worked with other wm6 roms.
Both .3 and .4 work fab on my device, with some small quirks.
If you want a speedy rom, go for .3. If you want great looks with the expense of a small slowdown, go for .4.

I have do that question to know what you (people using those roms) knows about that roms, bugs, etc, etc!
Let me tell u one thing............................
why don't u try .3 first for a couple of days, then try .4
u know, there are different problems, some1 has sms problem, some1 does not have this problem
so my advice to u is, try urself, and find out urself
it's not a question, which is better n which is not. the one which solves ur problems and fulfill ur desires, is the perfect one
think u got that
i have test .4 ... on first day, this rom has perfect!! but 4/5days later this rom has so slow :S, i dont have install nothing on that... none app, nothing!
So... there is no wm6 stable at this moment!
Hey guys, I really love the x10 and have read many reviews about it. There are many pros/cons about it, especially with the whole underlying 1.6 OS and no multitouch, trouble with keyboard, etc..
From the people who have had a inside perspective on the X10, are you guys quite happy? I use a cell phone mainly for music and text messeging, and need a phone with a good processor that does not lag, and have good phone qualities( calling, multitasking, etc.) .
Any replies will help.
This is my first proper Android phone. I used my brother G1 for a bit on the standard OS 1.6.
I went ahead and got the X10 mainly due to its hardware specs and the hope that it would get rooted and upgraded to 2.1.
However, I am absolutely blown away by the phone and its capabilities and it doesnt bother me its running 1.6 and not 2.1

I agree, it was hard for me to choose between the Desire and the X10. In the end I choose the X10 because of the design, bigger screen and camera. However I was afraid the X10 felt old because of the Android 1.6. Now after 3 days of use if let's say SE won't release the update it won't bother me at all. This phone is an absolute stunner!

my sentiments exactly. the SE customisations really make all the difference. i thought i'd not enjoy it much because of older version of android and the fact that HTC Sense UI was getting lots of good reviews, but damn, its amazing.
one warning though- the battery life is horrible, there are lots of people experiencing really bad battery life. Its unsure why this is happening, but one theory is the phone hardware wont go into a low power state, at idle consuming almost as much power as the screen at max brightness.
still waiting to see if the software update resolves this. its the only major problem, if not the only problem i've experienced so far.

About the keyboard: SE really screwed it up, I had a lot of missing strokes with the stock keyboard and the word prediction sucks. I replaced it with this keyboard which can be found in the Nexus One Section:

It's way better than the stock SE one. No more missing keys for me
It's the same as this HTC keyboard but then skinned to match the X10.

However, I am absolutely blown away by the phone and its capabilities and it doesnt bother me its running 1.6 and not 2.1

Exactly how I feel. This is my first android phone, so it didn't matter much to me what version OS it had, all i can say is it puts the X1 to shame.
Its so fast, I've noticed no lagging at all using menus etc. Been using the SE keyboard, I get the occasional typo but I'm still getting used to it tbh.
Was a bit apprehensive when watching Youtube vids with reviewers saying it was laggy and the keyboard sucked(i know you can change that anyway!) but the phone has really impressed me.
Definitely recommended.
x10 sony or x6 nokia
which one should i go for.
how bad is battery life on x10
About the batterylife, for me its excellent! I can use it for a full day which includes alot of browsing and listening to music. It is however my first android so i cant compare it to another phone
Hello guys!
I have one question about this phone. I realy don't feel to make a new therad about it so I leave it here.
I want to buy this phone, I'm getting bored of Leo, and I mainly use my phone for texting and music. The SMS issue drives me CRAZY! So, I want to try this phone out. But I have one quesiton; can I sync this with my Hotmail? I mean with contacts, inbox etc. This is a must for me, all my contacts are on my hotmail account.
Thanks in advance
Im pretty sure X10 is going to be my phone now. I just got a couple of more questions
Does the android market 1.6 have a lot of good games on it? And do many quality 3d games require multitouch?
Thanks for the help guys, you overall gave me good insights on the phone.
Well, i was pretty sure will be my phone too but today i saw this:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/11/samsung-galaxy-s-hits-the-fcc-with-atandt-bands-onboard/
Now, i'm in doubt.
4" super AMOLEd, multi touch, divx & h.264, HD video, etc.
Now, is only 5mp camera it seems but if is better than the HTCs cameras ... everything will be fine
What i don't know is if it has radio but i have a MW600 BT so, it won't be a problem but the worst part is: camera without flash.
the quality of cameras on samsung devices tend to be top class. with technology, as always if you wait you'll always find something better around the corner. so if you dont need a new phone now just wait and get one when you do. It'll be better than the X10 for sure since its coming out summer/autumn. Thats a long time in phone years.
Tunay: Yes, you can sync with hotmail. However having a gmail account is better if you have an android phone because android supports push gmail, so you get your email instantly on your phone just like a blackberry.
i've certainly been impressed with the X10 so far, i'm liking it more than the nexus one. Although i'm missing a few things from windows mobile.
X10's capture light isnt fantastic, and as far as i know there are no android devices with xenon flash yet.

I can do this on my HD2 now, I get mails instantly. Won't this be possible with X10 with an hotmail account ?
i havent tried with my hotmail account as i dont use that for mail- just for MSN. Maybe someone else can confirm.
As far as i know windows mobile is the only one with push hotmail? Im not sure though.

ah =/
I'll wait for someone else to givve me a answer then. If push hotmail does not work, this phone is useless for me.
Hi,
I have came from a rooted Htc Desire to this Samsung phone, i never tried the stock samsung rom, i just rooted and flashed a custom rom straight away.
I have flashed about 30 roms and have not fiund one that is not lag free.
Why is this?
Cheers.
If you tried ics then all of them are not fluid till now...

Mine is very fluid...
To OP, lag is usually caused by kernels more than it is ROM's. I would suggest you do all wipes and flash a kernel cleaning script before changing kernels etc.

This also depends on the firmware version.
The first ics were slow at scrolling... but this is improved in later version.
Also every version has its problems.
Hi,
I always do a fresh wipe and use the kernel cleaning script, i have just flashed the Omega rom with the speedmod kenel and although they are great i always have a slightly laggy home screen and the app menu is the same.
Also the homescreen button has a bit of lag when you switch on.
I have had this problem with just about every rom i have tried.
Anyone recommend a rom that is smooth?
My phone is still laggy with all roms i've tried so far, mainly the app list screen, home screen and contacts screen.
Are there Hboots for this phone like there was for the Desire?
Cheers.

Which roms did you actually try?
No such thing as hboots on samsung phones.
Hi,
I have probably tried all roms up until 3 days ago, the most stable rom i tried was probably lightning rom flashed through Odin but was still not very smooth, i am about to flash Omega 9 rom with the latest speedmod kernel and see how i get on with that.
No ICS ROM is going to be perfect, and I think you should commemorate the work that developers have done to get the ROM's up to the standard they are, considering they have to work with little to no source code from Samsung. Samsung is always very slow at releasing source code, and therefore developers have to work with leaked ROM's which are still in development themselves.
I'm not trying to hate, I'm just saying that all ROM's will have their issues at the moment, and simply stating, "Why are all ROM's laggy?" is very general and very untrue, because I use Simplistic ROM, and I have not experienced any lag since flashing the latest version a week ago. Most ROM's now are getting to an excellent standard and great performance and battery life.
Chris.

I remember the GB stock roms were pretty lag free usually. But a huge battery drainer and for me, ugly(TW).
If you really really really really want a lag free(almost) experience, get an iphone. Not the best suggestion but i bet that most of us android users out there right now experiences more lags than the norm iphone user. I have my galaxy s2 and although all my friends and family has an iphone, im greatly satisfied with this little wizz. rocking latest CM9. and not switching phones anytime soon.
Or maybe flash something GB
MIUI
You might have already tried MIUI Roms for your Desire?
Galnet GB 2.3.23 is fully lag free and stable......
ICS MIUI also well accepted and appreciated by the people now, but to wait for a fully bug free one for couple of weeks more...
Thanks for the replies!
iam on stock 2.3.5 wiv 385+ apps all big time an my phone is neva laggd or crashed i get a decent batt life iam pretty satisfied wiv it,i tried heavy mutitasking but still all is good , don kno wat prblm ur facing...may the kernel is not matching wiv ur desired rom...pm me for any comments or doubts
I use this, GB with no laggs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422742&highlight=tweaky
There are more recent kernels, so try: Siyah, N.E.A.K. or new ikki (all of them are top noch).
And flash latest jKay:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154278&highlight=jkaymod
Try to make it lagg
Edit: Sorry I just checked that it was uploaded on multiupload(dead). So if you wish I can upload it with all new stuff added.

Haha I love your signature. It is so true, the amount of people that don't thank helpful posts.
And straight after you posted that, the OP just went “Thank you everyone,” and didn't thank anyone for their wasted time. Classic.
Chris.
Is odd, surely depends on the rom you have installed, are you having the same problem with a stock firmware?

If you are hell-bent on performance and battery life, try HyDrA0SP.
You can forget all the luxuries of TouchWiz though
