IDK what to do now...
i have tried replacing XP drivers on my VISTA..
donwloading lots of RUUs and...nothing worked
this is very stressfull problem.
sometimes i managed to get to the UPDATE button but after the machine booted after WHITE-SCREEN,the RUU simply crash(after the device disconnected from WMDC)
I think this is because Vista cannot be used to upgrade ROMs reliably.
so..anything suggestions i can do to flash my prophet?
it can work (at least with a G3), I've been flashing ROMs for a few months now on my Vista machine. The key is to follow step-by-step the instructions and use the proper RUU.
Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385466
as long as you have a G3 it will work. There very well may be a RUU that will work for G4, but I haven't researched it.
If you are lucky to have a G3, there is a specific RUU that works with Vista after the driver-change.
But for the rest of us there is no way to use the RUU under Vista. You have to use XP: on another PC, using VM-Ware, or using a dual-boot setup.
EDIT:
This is not entirely true. I do have a RUU that works with my G4, but I am not able to replace the nk.nbf with any other file. Perhaps somebody can dive in to this? I have posted this RUU on my SkyDrive. I don't think you have to have VIsta, but just find out why the nk.nbf can't be exchanged.

By "Can't change the nk.nbf" do you meanthe flash won't work, or that the RUU refuses to use a different nk.nbf?

The last, if I exchange the .nbf, the RUU protests, saying it can't read the file.
That might be because the RUU is checking if the nk.nbf is signed or not. I can't remember exactly how a *.nbf file is formatted, but I am fairly certain there is some for of signing of the file...

That is my guess too, but now I'm stuck with the question: "How to sign the homemade *.nbf?" OR (better) "How to make the RUU stop checking?"

Flashed WMXL 0.20 yesterday. All fine. I stupidly installed a WM2003 program that seems to have edited the graphics driver. Now the thing wont boot past the HTC splash screen. I've tried flashing, same rom, different t-mobile roms etc. No luck, always same error.
What gives?
Installing a program does not usually brick a device.
And if your graphics driver has been modified,I suggest you do a hard reset on your device.
If that is not helping, please provide your SPL and Radio version, also Cid status and so on ,see who can help you here.

Sounds like you're flashing & writing before reading. I'm guessing you went straight to the WM6 rom and didn't do any of the SIM or CID unlocking. Read the following threads and you should discover what you need and probably loads more too...

Congrats and have fun flashing - it's addictive.
I'd suggest that you read and try Olipro's Hard-SPL before you go any further. This appears to be the answer to many of our prayers because you should be able to recover a bad radio flash. (I'm guessing that the 1.04 version will become most popular)

After flashing my locked T-mob vario dutch (for the 20st time) it now is bricked.
I tried to flash the Fun_Key_rom.
Hermes is stuck on the HTC logo 1pl-1.01 and SPL-2.03 not Super CID. (because of the warranty). I followed the thread about unbricking, but untill now no result.
I can flash it with Ruu.exe (and ruuwrapper.exe) the option 2.02/2.10 works for me untill 1% and then I get a invallid vendor ID.
I read the thread over and over again, but didn't seem to get how to unbrick it. Do I need to have a special rom? or other software?
no you need to flash Hard SPL on your phone right now!!! you can always unflash the HardSPL at a later date but you where just asking for a brick by not flashing HardSPL in the first place!

Had no problems for all those times..untill now I know it was stupid.
Trying to flash Hard SPL I got a 260 update error on the HardSPL v7. I also tried it with another upgrader and got an 270 error. It installed until 100% but no result.

Yes, you need to use CustomRUU to avoid the invalid vendor ID. It bypasses the CID check. That is why it works, even though you are not superCID.
Regarding the 260 error, try a couple things.
If you can, try SD flashing.
If you cannot do SD method, try using "manual bootloader" method:
- Put phone in bootloader mode
- NOW attach to USB lead
- Start CustomRUU
If that does not work, try taking the battery out for a while (5 minutes) and then try again.

It may be the RUUWrapper you have, but you can get it at THIS THREAD You may already have used it though, on the one that did not give you the invalid vendor error. Use it with the nbh file. If you only have an exe, then you can use winrar to take it apart into 2 files - the ruu file (the updater) and the nbh (the ROM itself). Once you are using the right CustomRUU, try the things I mentioned in my previous post.
Other things to be sure of...
If you are using Vista, check with MrVanx guides to see what you need to do.
You must have...
ActiveSync 4.5
.NET framework 2 or higher
Thanks for ur help. Really appr. it.
When I use the CustomRuu on any nbh file I'll get the Update error (260).
If I use the same nbh file on the RUU.exe file and I choose the 2.02/2.10 option it flashes my mobile till 1%. Then I get error 274 Invalid Vendor ID.
I see on the forum a lot of people bricked there Tytn on SPL 2.03.
Is Mr. Olipro having an solution?
Have you tried these things...

You are in a quite bad situation. I am not well aware about all the new ways to backup bricked hermes; but as far as I know the only remaining possibility for you is to flash your device using the default flasher AND a rom matching your CID.
Hopefully tmobile dutch released an updated WM5 release for your phone. You should be able to flash it, setup hardspl, and flash anything you want; but in a safe way this time.
There is maybe a way to tweak the CID of cooked ROM, but don't know anything about it (and there will certainly be signing issues).
In order to get your CID and see if something matching it is available at the wiki read the wiki about mtty (as far as I remember it is something like "type 2").

A quick google search on the board returns THESE RESULTS. Or you could look at the spl downgrade guide HERE.
I'm having trouble downgrading too.
Following mrvanx's guide, I downgraded to Hard SPL 1.10 with no problem. But when I try to downgrade to either 1.04 or 1.06, I lose the ActiveSync connection, the phone never enters bootloader, and I get an error message from the RUU saying that the connection was lost.
After several hours trying everything I can think of, I'm officially stuck.
Any thoughts?
I had same problem yesterday. In CustomRUU you need to set Unsafe SPL it is the only solution for downgrading SPL. ATT: SPL 1.04.nbh

Hi all, I've created HTC Raphael CustomRUU patched to perform a 'task 32' instead of a 'task 28' after flashing an .nbh, so it will not format your device if you just flash a radio or a splash screen.
How to: Drop the .nbh file of your choice in the same folder as CustomRUU and start flashing.
Everyone NOTE:
AVG and other antivirus's usually detect a virus in CustomRUU.exe, it's false error. Disable your antivirus while downloading and flashing.
If you have problem with your antivirus try the Raphael Wrapper attached, Thanks to cmonex for this
Have fun.

Thanks cmonex, first post updated.
Yep works fine, might be worth updating the kitchens to reflect this change.
Yup Cmonex Ruu Wrapper works great.
Since Some Guy Called l3v5y nearly bricked my Pro with a clean Rom
(stuck on Preparing your device.......... screen)
Had to Go into Bootloader mannually first, but that also works.
Let's hope the Pro version Flashes. (have to be carefull, l3v5y never sleeps, he might find out i've been bad mouthing his work and ban me)
PS: Even Flash Update Screen looks great on VGA screen, nice crisp and sharp gradient.
Hail to the wrapper
Works perfectly!!
You guys amaze me every time with your skills.
Works Great!
So to get it clear:
The wrapper also does not format the device when only flashing a splash or radio?
What is the difference between the wrapper and the custumRUU anyway?

I am so confused with all these terms (hard SPL, soft SPL, RUU).
- Do I still need to run the HardSPL, to change ONLY the Radio - or Raphael wrapper.exe is enough ?
- If I need HardSPL, will my device be formatted and lose my data ?
- How I upgrade my Radio ? I have downloaded the upgrade but except from an exe file there is another with nbh extension. How I use this file ?
Can anyone help ?
Does the CustomRUU bypass the CID check so I can flash *ANY* ROM with this tool without HardSPL?

I'm very confused as well. I would love to do a radio update but I really don't want to do a hard reset.
I know I have to use this customRUU and I already have downloaded the radio file.
Can I start upgrading right away or do I really need to use HardSPL and loose all my data?
You need Hard SPL to use this Custom RUU. Unless you are going to flash a ROM by your carrier. Cooked ROMs, radio's etc require HardSPL.
Flashing a ROM OS will override all your data (well duh )
Flashing a radio, SPL or Splash should not override your data.
Custom RUU does not bypass the CID checks.

You can get GPS working on the xv6800 MR1 ROM by using the program listed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
This does not require flashing a custom ROM if you want to do that. Be aware that flashing to MR1 programs the firmware to operate in locked down GPS mode, which will make it difficult for you to get GPS working on a custom ROM without using the adapter program I wrote up + injecting the Verizon GPS driver into the custom ROM.
Note that this does not provide access to VZ Navigator, so you will have to supply your own GPS-enabled app (e.g. Google Maps).
In other words, there are two different approaches you can take here:
- If you are on the original xv6800 ROM, then you can flash to a custom ROM and get GPS working there.
- If you are on the MR1 xv6800 ROM, then you can try the adapter program I wrote, and get GPS working for most of your programs on MR1, without having to flash to a custom ROM.
Well I used the hard-spl-MFG.exe to flash the SPL but now my phone only boots to the three colored splash screen and show SPL-2.40.
How do I fix this?
Thanks,
That should be the boot loader. Now load the Radio ROM that you have. You might only have the SD Card version, so maybe you need to name it correctly on the Card and reboot into the boot loader again so it will read the card. Hopefully you have formatted it correctly?
I think I'm lost. I ran the SPL via active synck. Now I need to run the radio by putting it on the SD card?

Depends on which ROM file you got. It might be an EXE to run from your computer. Just get to the bootloader screen on your phone, connect it with the USB cable and then run the EXE for the radio. Hopefully it will have the installation screen to come up and it should find your phone eventually. Some of the ROMs were just the NBH file and if you rename it as TITAIMG.NBH and stick it on a correctly formated SD card in the phone the bootloader would install it from there. Kind of handy if you are out "in the field" and needed to strip and reload.

That's correct. It has the NBH file wrapped in a package with RomUpdateUtility and it's needed files. Just follow my instruction. Should work.

Ok, that's what I thought. Now the only OS rom I have is the DCD_titan_3.2.6.exe but that won't talk to my phone since I can't get it connected via active sync. how do I get an NBH for DCD's rom?

You should be able to run that one from your computer. Just hold down the power and camera buttons at the same time and poke the soft reset button. You will get the bootloader screen. Then connect via USB and then run that exe.
You will still need to run the Carrier cab from the phone and install to memory not the card after you get DCD's ROM installed.

Ok, did that, but it didn't load the new image.
Extracted the dcd_tiatn, renambed RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nhb, put the SD card back in the phone and did the Softkey + Reset button. It just sits on the verizon screen.

After the radio ROM flash I no longer get to the bootloader screen, it just sits on the verizon screen.
