Hi, this thread is here for posts that has no room in technical discussion related to this rom. From tech discussion, irrelevent posts will be deleted without excuse, without reason. So here's the correct place for them...
Well done
I just wanted to say well done for the new fast clean rom. I'm finally over 2.5!
Everything I need to work works and well and fast. Thankyou !
Now how do we get the touch interface on the Charmer as they seem to be getting working on the Prophet??? Maybe wrong place to ask, will wait. In the meantime, thankyou again.
the bt works fine with car set

nice to hear...go on with testing
WIFI confirmed
WIFI SDIO function has been confirmed by beta tester, loskarlitos - with some limitations like control panel not working , WIFI connection has been confirmed as stable and able to survive standby mode
Thanks Loskarlitos!
Excellent, a new rom to try!!
I can't believe I have only just found this. I could have been playing with it this evening. Its a little late to start messing now!!!
Thanks for all the hard work Nocturne.

i think the wifi control panel only works with built in hardware. thats why its removed from the official charmer roms.
hope you are right. i wil think about removal of it for the next ver.

I dont know if that's such a good idea. Some people use SDIO wifi cards and find those wifi settings useful.
Cheers,
vlodeck
as reported from my beta man, loskarlitos, and as reported above, this wifi settings applet seems to be working only with built-in wifi modules, settings are inactive for sdio cards.
Wifi SDIO owners, please share your experineces - than i can build fully functional rom stripped down from useless parts
Hi,
first of all amazing rom. Really really fast. It syncs great under Vista. To flash from Vista you have to use the "Another Flash Method". I encountered no problems with the 12 apps running, alarm or landscape problem.
Only the Calender and Contact buttons are still hardcoded to Start and Back.
problem with alarm was solved - it was really caused by underclocking charmer down to 95mhz (I'm using BatteryStatus for dynamic overclocking. 95MHz is simply not enough power to bring alarm window up and system behaves strange)
problem with changing landscape/portrait disappeared and never came back - but will keep it in buglist until this is really confirmed
lagge number of running apps stil remains - if lot of apps running, softkeys are not working as they should...hope somebody could try this on another wm6 device?
Calendar and Contacts issue
Been testing this rom for a day or two - I get the problem where Calendar and contacts won't start (whether from soft keys or the Start menu) and I have to soft-reset to egt it working. I admit I have been using iContact as well so I will uninstall that for a few days and see if the problem goes away.
closing some apps does not help? it helps for me...
customization?
Hi, when i flash yours new rom and make HR system was start and customization from old wm5 was started. In rom 4.4 customization was not started after HR, is this was changed in this release?
sorry for my english....
This was reported and will be modyfied in next ver. Till then, just skip the customization after HR
Ring tone changes....
Hi, next thing is that my ring tone changes to default without my command. I've seen this before in previous roms but in 4.4 it was ok.
I installed this last night. Seems nice and fast.
I noticed that the phone pad SIP and MMS are missing. (Installed these manually)
Also, i'm afraid the Bluetooth A2DP appears to still be the older, poorer quality version.
Cheers
phonepad sip is missing because i don't like it - it is not necessary. everybody can install it easily manually. but it will not eat precious memmory for us who does not use it ,-)
MMS support is there - no problem with it, thing you report is a bit strange...
it's hard with A2DP. Some testers were reporting it's the best A2dp they have seen - you tell the opposite. The worst thing is that i cannot test it - i do not have a2dp device :-( is possible that transfer quality is also dependent on used HW?
regarding those ringtone changes - i was testing this today (about 10 calls, some restarts etc - no problem. aren't you using any 3rd party software for phone profiles or things like that? I saw this with pocket zen phone..if not, try please to search for some dependency of this behavior so i can repair it
Thanks Nocturne.
I'm really starting to think I've flashed the wrong ROM. I've got so many on my PC now.
Can you confirm what I should be seeing under Device Information?
Thanks
Hi all.
I'm currently running PDAViet 4.0.0.0.4 PV but have noticed also on some other roms that after a bit of use, wifi will not turn on any more. Tapping it in comm manager results in my prophet thinking for a bit, then giving up and failing to turn wifi on. I have no programs running, so I assume its not a memory problem.
Is there a "more stable" version of comm manager that always works, but that may not be as up to date as other versions found in newer roms, and if so, where can I find a copy? If not, does anyone know what my problem might be?
I'm running base 4.0.0.0.4 PV rom with SPBDiary, audio manager today plugin, slide2unlock, and the new contacts app by tene added to it. Nothing is listed in the currently running software list while trying to get wifi working.
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks all.
I should also mention that a warm boot fixes the problem temporarily.
Cheers guys.

well as far as I know it's the problem with wireless drivers in the WM6 Roms, Try truneytral's WM6.
1. A2DP icon missing
I want to re-direct skype audio to my bluetooth earphone. How can I do that?
2. I can not login MSN/windows alive though skype can login without any problem via WIFI. Seems MSN try to get online through different connection setting? how/where can I define the connection setting for MSN?
3. Phone module die without any sign. All incoming call is diverted to voice mail automatically until soft reset. As if the phone is switched off.
(I am not sure whether this is WM6 related)
this means you might miss important call without any sign!
Does anybody have same experience?
1) I dont think that was ever a default thing? Did you install something and forget? have a cooked rom? There are A2DP solutions in this forum, "Use the Search luke."
2) No, its shagged. I installed the windowslive50.cab file I had on universal, it works now.
3) No idea, mine works fine. Hard reset? Check your sim?
I can get online with my WLM but it does sometimes take a resync of the whole account to do it.
Skype did say (unless changed recently) that they were still working on transferring calls to bt headsets. Which means, currently, that it does not work through anything other than headphones and the mic on the phone.
Comm Manager
Hello,
It is possible to change the green color from the Comm Manager ?
Thanks
French Keyboard
I have upgraded my french Advantage and all is OK apart for keyboard layout. On my old Universal (also french keyboard) I had changes the registry for hklm/software/oem/qwerty layout to 1040C (hex) and it had worked.
On the advantage this does not seem to change anything, any ideas?
Also has anyone got integrated VoIP working? I have used a CAB file from Universal to activate it and SIP Config Tool to do the set up but it does not allow me to select VoIP from today menu.
Anyone got this set up and working? Integrated VoIP is the reason I upgraded to WM6!
Messenger Etc....
Live Messenger stops working correctly after a soft reset. Initially it works fine. Contacts show as offline, although they are still able to contact me and vice-versa.
As far as I can ascertain push email still functions correctly.
I cannot confirm whether this is related to MS's side (rather than the program) as I haven't had chance to check if anyone else experiences the same problems.
Have tried installing the separate CAB file but I am subsequently told that I do not have the necessary permissions (or something like that).
This comes from tests on a T-Mobile branded Ameo (not the brand new one I'm selling, if anyone decides to cross-check!)
I haven't come across any other problems. Seems a bit less laggy than the original T-Mobile ROM, loads up web pages slightly faster too it seems.
No other issues as yet.
Ive had no probs at all since installing the messenger cab.
Still using it now.
Do we know what version of WLM is on this new ROM?
I've pulled \windows\wlmmessenger.exe to desktop and looked at the Version tab...10.6.28.2700 is what comes out.
Pyrofer - can you do the same on your cabbed version and let me know what the version number says? Not always an accurate guide but worth a shot. Also the digital signature is 3rd May 07.
Cheers
Ant
EDIT - never mind, just seen ur post in general Athena tab...10.6.0026.1400
I wonder what is different? If anything? I also wonder whether this is actually a final release of the ROM that's just been leaked early, as WLM is a pretty central component to web using Athena owners (myself very much included) and for it not to work after a soft reset...hmm.
Hi royalmail,
I've got exactly the same problem you mention about the phone.
I was unable to answer calls.
So I belive you've use the second file to upgrade to WM6 (HTC001 ... with ipl...).
You have to go back to WM5 WWE using the last ROM posted in the Athena upload folder in the XDA FTP. After flashing your Athena to WM5, Use the first ROM posted (the one with a readme file included).
And voila! No problem at all since I've done it this morning, everything works fine!
Hope this helps!
Hi Thibale,
I flashed with the t-mobile version. the phone dead only once so far, though i am not sure it's caused by WM6. Anyway, thx for sharing your info.

Also, read through the forum regarding some of your other issues.
Try to disable your GPRS and see if your calls start coming through.

@Pyrofer, could u upload yr WLM5.cab here? thanks in advance.
I believe most people face this problem. I hv no solution to it, but I personally believe this is not a hardware prob and it can be solved. Hope to start this thread so everyone can discuss this together and come up with something.
got this from other thread...

put registry editor shortcut in \windows\startup
put wififix.reg in \Program Files
all this does is set the HTCPreloadwifi=1 everytime i need to reset my device. i think the problem is the value was resetted to 0 everytime you reset your device. That's why the wifi doesnt work. not sure if this works for everyone. but for me its working nearly everytime.

Pehaps it is useful to give some more specific details. Indeed there are several users that run in to these problems, but many more (including myself) never experienced any misbehaviour whatsoever. There must be a difference somewhere.....
i faced the prob which when u set the HTCPreloadwifi to 1, it revert back to 0 after soft reset. then i found that this is actually bcoz of the file "WiFiInit", which is in the startup. so i removed it from the startup, set the HTCPreloadwifi to 1, then power off and on it instead of soft reset (soft reset might work, just play safe.)

rondol1, will you stay here in this thread. who knows, we might spot the difference between your "working" device and our "half-working" device. appreciate that.
The point is, I never changed anything after flashing the ROM and WIFI works right away. I have noticed that with WEP encryption enabled things don't go that smooth. Without security OR with WPA enabled, I don't experience any problems with WIFI. About Bluetooth, I really don't use it, only to connect my TomTom GPS receiver and that give no problem whatsoever. But that comparison isn't fair, cos the TomTom app takes care of it by itself, without the general WM6 settings.
Perhaps it's good to mention that I use the latest WM6 builds, I red your post in some threads from older ROM's too. Could be that those earlier release had more bugs on this point.
i'm using Fantastic Mobiz v2.0b4....actually wanna to load up other new wm6, but instead of avoiding, i think we shd try to solve the problem..
anyway, i am thinking about whether there is anything wrong with the registry that caused the prob, or any 3rd party software that is interrupting the bluetooth's functioning. is there any way to "compare" the registries?
I don't know, but I hardly use any 3d-party software. And about solving the probs on early WM6 builds: isn't that a Microsoft job? If there is a problem in the OS, we don't gonna solve it by changing some regs!

haha...ya...but i meant a cooked version of wm6. the developer might hv added something which works on his but not on others. any assumption hv to take into consideration. i guess that is how most probs are solved.
seems like no one patronize this thread...ahah , anyway i will still try to update what i've discovered until the next version of rom is up. who knows, people might be desperate and found this thread. i just hope someone will join in the discussion or i will look like a bloody fool who participates in my own thread.
right now, i insert btdwake and btlauncher to my startup folder. it works most of the time (not sure it works bcoz of the files that i put in the startup folder).
i still think that it might be a registry problem. will compare the registry with a working set's one of these days.
I've got also a problem when trying to enble Wifi, what you've done exactly? Does it works?

hi Gaexu. well...it is easy to make things work, but problem lies on the steps that make them work. enabling my wifi is fine, but not perfect.
I suppose your prob is when u go to comm manager, click on the "Wlan", then u see the radar (loading), after that, nothing happened, the icon still show the grey icon with the cross.
steps:
1.)first you gotta remove a file called "WiFiInit" from \windows\startup\ folder.
2.)next, go to the registry using PHM Registry Editor. go to HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms, there are 2 reg dwords - "HTCPreloadStatus" and 'HTCPreloadWifi". change their value to "1".
3.)power off the device and on it back.
the reason to remove "WiFiInit" from startup is bcoz it seems to cause "HTCPreloadStatus" value to revert back to "0" after a soft reset. actually i've remove a few more things from startup, but i dun think there is any "linkage".
sorry about this, but don't expect the wifi to be enabled as easy before upgrading (at least not for me). to enable the wifi for the first time (after you soft reset everytime), go to comm manager, click on WLAN. then the radar thingy comes out, rotate a few round and disappear. while it is rotating, observe the "G" on top, it changes to the wifi icon and revert back to the "G". that means wifi is detected. click on WLAN again, and same thing will happen. now, push the on/off button to black out the screen(standby mode) and turn on again. wifi comes alive.
i am too long winded. this is my first time in my life typing more than 6 lines in a forum. do let me know if it doesn't work. good luck.
Thanks for your help
The Wifi works, but just for about 30seconds or 1minute... then it turns off
does anyone know this problem?
I will try it again and again,
thanks

hv u change the value in the registry?
Yes, "HTCPreloadStatus" and 'HTCPreloadWifi" have the decimal value 1.
HTCResumeWifi = 0
I will retry it with another network (not the one from my University) maybe it works...
Gaexu, so how's your bluetooth? working perfectly?
i looked through the registry and found that many of the bluetooth keys are incomplete after comparing with other devices...but i need to extract more info from a workin prophet...
Hi scarymoviesg
Now my Wifi works perfekt (not with the one from the University but with all the others)
Thanks a lot!!!!!

glad that it works... anyway...how's ur bluetooth?is it work?
I had some problems with some of the latest (>20000) builds of Prophet roms when using together with TOMTOM 7.450 and an external bluetooth GPS antenna. It happened that, while running TomTom7 WITHOUT connecting my Prophet to a power source (i.e. my car's cigarette lighter plug) after 2-3 minutes the PDA auto-powered off. You can imagine the stress...
TomTom programmers managed to bypass the power management in order to prevent this annoying (and also very dangerous while driving) feature.
Unfortunately seems that latest builds' power management settings are completely ineffective at least with TomTom7. You can set the battery power management to NEVER OFF but it still will go down after a couple of minutes when running TOMTOM. All the latest roms that I've tried seem to be affected by this bug...
But maybe I've found a solution...
Use your favourite Registry Editor and check this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\DisableGwesPowerOff
In my case it was set to 0.
I've changed it to 1 and voilà!!!
Seems that now everything works correctly:
1) TomTom Anti-AutoPowerOff is OK
2) OS's Battery power settings are OK
Hope I helped everyone who faced this annoying problem and I also kindly ask all the cookers to check this registry setting before releasing a new one.
Your,
Bodhi3
Bodhi3 many thanks for your information, I was having this problem and the only way that I found to solve it was to increase the sound in periods of time.
I will try it soon.

Rui
It must depend on the build i am playing with a ROM build 21015 and this reg key doesn't exist but it uses Gwes i will look into this on my version thanks
curious did this work for anyone?
i tried it and no luck on build 7.915.9196
am starting to think its my ROM if more people are not having ths problem. i'll report back after i flash.
after trying everything possible and nothing working having blammed problems on bug in TomTom, it seems the problem was the ROM.
so i flashed a different ROM and can confirm TomTom is working fine and stays on regardless of power settings in OS
