Newest dcd/radio. did all the steps, using astro to launch. com 4, 4800, location on.
it's stuck at the waiting for a valid gps signal.
look up astrogpslauncher.

using it right now to launch tomtom, without it it says "no gps device".
With it it says "no valid GPS signal"
on the GPS status it says again "no valid GPS signal" but i see some round dots with numbers in them on the NorthWestSouthEast (radar?) thing.
have you read through the GPS faq?
I use TomTom 6, but I don't use AstroGpslauncher. Instead I use BAF's Gps Toggle on the today screen, then launch TomTom Navigator. Works brilliantly, get locks in 30 seconds (with crappy VZW pri).
just tried baf.
install it, toggle on, then launch tomtom. it does the same thing, it just stays at "waiting for a valid GPS signal" (kept it on there for 10minutes)
Is there a small simple utility that i can check if i can get a gps lock?
google earth
scratch that - google maps
TOMTOM 6.03 works for me
install VisualGPSce to test. TomTom is already communicating with your GPS, so GoogleEarth is bad advice since it is only capable of returning same lack of concise information that you have now.
Within TomTom you can also tap onto the bottom right corner and eventually (forgot off hand) get into the GPS status to see the condition of satellite reception and locks/or lack of.
Reset your phone and try outside with clear sight of the sky and leave it there for up to a half hour. You may get sufficient locks or not. Worse comes to worse, there's no software resolution and you have one of the Titans with a hardware fault/damage that inhibits satellite reception and locking.
(I've just updated the Wiki Titan FAQ with the above....)

Upgraded to new boot loader and installed the gps rom rom: 3.16... and radio: 3.27. downloaded newest goog maps and windows live. location settings ON, tried gps settings listed in forums, still nothing.
I go into debug mode ##33284# (or whatever it is), and under GPS, everything is NA. Is this mean my mogul don't have a chip inside?
I launched GPS from Google maps, and it stuck in the "Seeking GPS satellites" screen. A blinking blue dot appears and puts me in the middle of the ocean in the middle of the world map. it eventually times out after like 8 minutes or so and says i dont have a clear view of the sky or whatever, and ive tried the same with windows live, same thing, doesnt find anything. i have full working evdo service and am standing in a field, no working, and tried driving around, stilll does the same thing, will not work.
Any help?

i have sprint, i tried it all, what in that forum am i missing? i followed it
did you go to the phone settings and switch from 911 only to location on?
Go stick your phone outside with Google maps running for about 30 min....Some areas take longer before they aquire a GPS signal.
My phone found GPS within about 5 min. My girlfriends took about an hour. However once it find it the first time, you should be good until you hard reset.
location settings ON for 911. still no work
jnet,
The location should be turned to on. Not 911 if it is turned to 911 only then your gps will not function

##33284# will work only when some program is pulling information from gps chip.. ie if tomtom or google maps etc are getting info from the gps chip.. other wise under gps you will see n/a
I've been messing with different radio's to see which gave me the best signal aswell as the best GPS results. The outcome has become very clear to me and I thought I would share to see if anyone else has these results.
When on 3.39.10 my gps will lock in less than 1 minutes with no adjustments needed to be made. The only extra step is the normal priming of the GPS which I do thru Astrolauncher. I have run other radio's which wouldn't connect even after 15 minutes so this is definetly going to be my radio of choice until something different is presented with the same or better results.
thx for the tip
everyone has different results, even with the same rom and radio. i was using dcd 3.0.4 and radio 3.35.05 for a while and it always worked well. then i did the GPS fix on 3.35.04 and got even better results. then i updated my radio to 3.42.30 with the GPS fix and now my GPS gate locks before my today screen can finish loading.
When I first flashed DCD 3.1.6 I used RADIO 3.42.30 and experienced very slow GPS locks. I recently downgraded to RADIO 3.39.10 and my GPS locks are down to 10-30 seconds (This is on VZW with the "GPS fix" applied).
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I may very well update my guide to tell users to use the 3.39 radio for better GPS locks.
P.S. Can someone post the link for the RUU (even if its the Sprint ROM, I can just steal it out of there), thanks.
Well I tried it and all I can say is WOW. I even tried it on a fresh ROM with no GPS hack for verizon and it locks the first time in about 60 seconds and after that even faster. I actually experienced a 10 second lock a minute ago. Thank a million for posting your results.
Here's my results....
COLD START
2.42.30 radio
Used HTC GPS Tool - Locked in 1.5 minutes
Google Maps - locked 20 seconds later
took 1.75 Minutes to achieve 5 sats
3.39 radio
GPS Tool - Locked in 10 seconds
Google maps locked 5 seconds later
Definately weird....
I'll assume that because I flashed a new radio, that I can consider it a cold boot lock on 3.39... However I didn't initialize the clear memory
I think you guys are using HTC GPS Tool wrong with 3.42.30.
When you use HTC GPS Tool to prime, and initiate with a cold start, you don't have to wait until they turn green to switch to Google Maps. As soon as you see 3+ red bars, open Google Maps and Use GPS. I get locks in under 10 seconds with 3.42.30 even on the coldest of starts.
I don't even use the gps tool just Astrolauncher for iGo and Google Maps.
Well to each his own. Personally I'd rather get the improved signal strength from 3.42.30 while maintaining fast GPS locks.

I think that is key for me, because I thought you had to wait for the bars to turn green before doing anything.
Do you leave the GPS tool open when you switch to Google Maps? Once I get the bars to go green I have been closing the app and going to my GPS software, does it work better to leave both open?
This is exactly what I do...
Open QuickGPS and download ephemeris data (only required every 7 days)
Close QuickGPS
Open GPS Tool
Com4, 4800 bps, Cold Start
Open
Nav Init
Switch to Satellite tab, wait for 3+ red
Leave GPS Tool open and open Google Maps
Use GPS
Once it locks, close GPS Tool
I get locks in under 10 seconds every time.

Kool...
I have been looking for something like this and I have been doing this ALL wrong. I sit there waiting for a green for minutes at a time. I am using tt7
So when I get the 3+ red then I will NOT hit the 'ok' to close the GPS tool but now hit the windows key to open tt7...cool
thx man...
Yeah again, this is only for cold starts too. No need to do this again 5 minutes after the last lock.

forgot to ask...looks you do not do a soft-rest? Also do you always go COLD even if you have used the gps once or twice earlier that day?
No need for soft resets.
It depends on how long it's been since I've used it. If it's been more than a couple hours, I cold start.

How many people do you think are waiting for a green lock in HTC thinking they are not locking?
This would be a great thing to make more visible GC, you may want to post it on your "fix" page. There would be many more believers in your fix if you do. I think that 3.39 is faster at getting an all green lock, but using this method 3.42 gets three faster from home. I will be testing this more. Thanks!
well until today I always waiting for the green but not anymore...may hardest lock time is in the morning so I will see then but by noon I can lock and continue to lock all day. I can lock up to 3am but when it comes to 8am-10a during rush hour I had no luck...but I will see in the morning. I am doing this from one location my home so my position is the same for all the successful connects...

Hi gc14,
I was also under the impression that waiting for the satellites to turn green meant a lock.
I just tried using your method and received a lock on 5 satellites in under 30 seconds. The only problem is that running HTC GPS Tool and Google Maps at the same time causes severe lag. Do you minimize HTC GPS tool and then launch your navigation software or just launch the navigation software?
I have a vx6800 using mr2 and i have the agps working perfect, with google maps. tomtom7 and visual gps wont pinpoint my location. i was told to try using a program called gps gate to rerout the gps data to a virtual comm port. i did this and while tomtom sees the gps data now on that port the data is all over the place and cannot loc on my location even with 5 or 6 sats. HELP please
I'm using mostly custom ROMs (Win 6.5). I highly recommend GPS Gate for your Tom Tom. I use IGO8 or Garmin XT.
You must get a local lock onto the Sats. Your GPS gate will Glow or be Green when lock is achieved. The first time you must be outside with your unit. If you generally do not travel more than a few hundred miles with the GPS off, it should lock onto the Sats within a few seconds. Any GPS will have difficulty if you move or are moving during the lock-on.
Today, I reloaded an old ROM (win 6.1), I had to go outside to lock on. Inside or without a clear view of the Southern skys will result in a long or poor lock on (long time wait) for the initial lock-on. After the initial time wait, within 5-6 seconds, even indoors, I get a green GPS gate indication after the screen turns on. After the GPS gate indication, as soon as the GPS program starts, I have a map location. Set the GPS gate to turn-on even after a warm boot (read the documentation). Turn off or Exit GPS gate if not using the GPS to prolong battery life.
see thats whats weird, gps gate is green, even inside it says "gps data with valid position" but tomtom still has my lat and loc going all over the place every second or so. same with visual gps
Hello guys I recently had CyanogenMod 7.1 on my SGS2, and i wanted to test out the GPS on some navigation services, and it didn't seem to work.. so I tried to get it back to stock android (2.3.5 XXKI3), and it still doesn't seem to work..
I live in Israel..
Here are the things I tried (on both CyanogenMod and stock Android):
1. stay in the same position for 5min with 2G networks only
2. stay in the same position for 5min without 2G networks only checked
3. stay in the same position for 5min with 2G networks only + WiFi on
4. stay in the same position for 5min without 2G networks only checked + WiFi on
5. tried to enter *#*#1372365#*#* and *#1372365#* to get into gps testing - didn't work..
1. I saw that when I use a program called: "GPS Test" - I only get max of 7 Satellites (this is at least the maximum that i got), and i know i only need 3 satellites to get it to lock, but still it doesn't seem to lock on me.
The "GPS Test" program shows satellites "In Use"=0 , 0 satellites in green or yellow (which really means that i use no satellites) , The maximum signal i got from satellites is "43" (and it was grey)
2. When i click on "show me" in Google Maps it shows "Waiting for location" and after a couple of seconds it shows "Your current location is temporarily unavailable"
What should i do??
(btw i know there are probably thousands of this threads on google - i say.. i seem to kind of tried everything..)
Thanks in advanced,
Din.
I suggest you take a look at this thread, it may help.

otherwise you may have a hardware defect in the gps chip.
Thanks, I will try that out..
Hi everyone
I've just got my player but I can't get the device to lock on with the gps, has any one had the same problem?
Have you try doing it out door with an open sky? It will still take a while to get an initial lock. If you have a wifi connection, it will be faster because Google will use the wifi access point location in estimating your current location.
Get the program GPS test. Turn on your GPS (you do not need wifi at all). Go outside. You should get a lock in less than a minute. The program will show you the satellites it sees and when you are locked. When locked it will give the latitude and longitude coordinates and the UC time.
First time I turned on the GPS indoors the samsung "saw" 9 satellites, and locked in less than 30 seconds. The GPS is the fastest I have seen on any device. I have locked on in a moving train as well.
Ive found a fix for the problem
All is now working fine

"Ive found a fix for the problem."
Mine worked without this so-called fix. My device is running Gingerbread, and the GPS worked and I got a fix the first time I tried it.
