I know this is somewhere but I couldn't find anything definitive. I put WM6 on my phone but want to put it back to WM5. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I have to ask this - WHY??????????
-There are some programs that are not WM6 compatible
-There are some features/programs missing from the cooked ROMs
-If you sell the phone, and the person needs warranty work done, you want WM5
-You need to send it in for warranty repair
-You want actual tech support from your operator or HTC (even though this forum is better)
-You like being behind the times?

You don't NEED to do ANYTHING! Personally, I'd keep 1.40.Oli as your SPL, and 1.38.00.10 as your radio, and put on Cingular's 2.06 rom if you want WM5. Use Black 2.0 if you want WM6.. You can always downgrade radio and SPL if you need to later on, but, for now, leave it alone.
Well the only reason I ask is because I do plan on selling the phone, so I just want to make sure That I'm doing everything right...if that makes sense? I did super CID the phone though...

Leave the radio and HardSPL on the phone if you are selling it. Id say they were a good upgrade to sell alongside the device.
To mrvanx
In your this guide you use romkoch to generate NBH from NB files.
http://www.mrvanx.myzen.co.uk/hermes_guide/Downgrade/
But in the romkoch software there is a tab NBH to NB tab, why is it that your quide don't use this to extract the NBH file?
I personally prefer to use NBHextract.
Im changing to guide to use a different app soon anyway.
Do I need to use that app to downrade if I am going to use an official rom from Cingular... their updated one?

The downgrade guide is fine as it is, however i am updating it. Its up to you wether you use it now or after i update it.
Here is an RUU that i patched with guidance from Olipro and Cmonex to not (always) hard reset when it has finished flashing (useful when you want to flash just a splash screen or radio update). This should be used in conjunction with a patched SPL (e.g HardSPL) and shouldnt be used for full OS ROM updates.
Have fun
Edit: new version attached: asks about hard reset. packed properly

Could anyone possibly tell me how I would go about using this to flash a Kaiser Radio Rom update to my Dual?
I've got the HardSPL on my device now, just wanted to see if it would work.
I did try it using the updates on the FTP site and this RUU, but I got a device ID error, probably cause the Rom is signed for the Kaiser.
Suppose what I'm asking is could someone take the kaiser radio update and sign it so the dual will accept it?

I can do that for you, and if you are willing to risk you're device then fine by me but i make no guarantees at all that it will work, let alone it wont turn your device into a paper-weight.

Here, this should work with my customruu if you really want to risk it:
Warning: This is untested and probably not safe, do not use. (Click me)
If there is a chance updating the Radio will activate wifi I'm willing to try it on my Dual, but would need some help with the required steps.

I have tried kaiser's radio you give, after flash, noting happen, the radio rom is 1.58.16.27,is it right?
Oops, ok, looks like you beat me to the punch.
Using the CustomRUU.exe I'm not seeing "Image Version : 1.31.73.09" to "Image Version : KAISER RADIO" - are you seeing that too ?
Had you dumped the default Orange radio first, need to look into how I can do that.
I saw that,but I didn't dump
ok, haven't found a way to do it either, so it seems the flashing lef your device in its previous state, odd !
I try again ,it's from 1.31.753.13 to kaiser radio
sorry i packaged it up wrong, ive done it properly now and flashed myself and bad news it sim-locked my phone and i now cant use it
my phone already locked sfr,so doesn't matter
I'm giving up on WM6 because of the missing DUN (and a T9 bug).
I have another 3125 with the original ROM in it.
Is there a way that I can back up that ROM to my PC and install it to "upgraded" phone?
If not, is the original ROM available anywhere? I've been googling for two days and nothing. The closest thing is the AKU 3.4 from HTC which is missing DUN as well.
I've tried the WM6_BT_DUN cab file and that didn't help.
rom
do a search on this rom
RUU_STAR100_4.1.502.5_02.79.30_CWS_SHIP.exe
it is the cingular wm5 release

Thanks lewnetoons, I saw that ROM on the wiki, but I'm under the impression this is the DUNless version of WM5. Am I wrong?
rom
I'll have to load it on my phone this weekend and let you know if it has the dun, I think it does but it has been a while since I loaded a wm5 rom, will get back to ya.

That's very nice of you but please don't do that just to help me. I'd feel terrible if shyt happened while you were flashing. You know, there are hundreds of billions of lightning bolts in Florida every day....
Seriously, I'll check it myself and let you know of the results. That's very cool of you to offer.

Now how about a way to backup the whole ROM from a phone to install it in another phone?

Thanks lewnetoons, I couldn't find this file, but I ended up switching phones with my wife and now I'm back with DUN. Pain in the butt, but a solution nonetheless.

omar
Take a look in the wiki, also the threads are easily found in this forum

Why don't you dump your fuze's rom then upload it for everyone else. That way, you help yourself and others.

Kraize: I have an ATT Fuze and would like to have the original ROM just in case. Can you explain what is and how to do a dump? Is it like a backup of the OEM ROM?

Yeah I have the same question. I used the Sprite on my Fuze but I am not sure if thats the same thing as the Stock Htc Fuze Rom.
Also if you unlock your phone with the code is that software or hardware?
Thanks in advance..

oh... okay then i'll won't do it..
anyone else got suggestions/tips?
since the X10 has quite different hardware from the Hero, it will undoubtedly be a *lot* of work, hardly worth it..
pleeeaseee do it, ive been waiting for someone to tryy...
it wont hurt, as he said, it shouldnt brick it.
of course i want todo it, but i don't want to brick my device
it wont brick the device as its only firmware not bootloader that gets affected. It most likely will hang and not boot and will requrie a wipe/install afterwards tho. Would love to try the x10 firmware!
ok, well i'll make a port, just simple as explained in the tutorial, and then i ask a romcooker to look at if it's safe, ok?
rightnow i'm dlling the decrypted version of the rom, and i will try to edit it, with some hero stuff, and send it to a romcooker before i will flash it..
first i downloaded the decrypted rom

not trying to be rude here, but if you need to ask these questions you'll probably fail at porting the rom... no offense intended. you cannot brick your device by just flashing the rom, for bricking you need to f* up the radio or the spl.
Sorry but im just a beginner and i wanted to try something, and i wanted to be sure i wouldn't brick my phone or unroot it..
When im home ill try to port it.

good luck with that, just be warned that the guide you linked is in now way a guide for porting. what it says about porting is the part everyone could have come up with. it totally skips modules, drivers and libraries. i wouldn't really know where to start either, and i have quite some knowledge about android by now.
don't let this stop you from experimenting! just be prepared to fail a few (or a lot of) times before you succeed.
btw, i'd love to see the x10 rom on the hero
Hello.
Even if you can port it, I doubt it'll run smooth on Hero, the hardware must be pretty gay for that rom.
Why u try to flash a complete ROM?
Only Mediascape and Timescape App is needed !
hf
because the whole rom of the X10 is just great!
when i'm home im starting the port, and i will upload the rom, when it's just booting on my hero..
and ye, i'm not really good at driver-coding and stuff.. so i think i need some pretty damn much good help from some proandroid-developers

we already can overclock the hero to 710 MHz.
I think that will make a pretty performance improvement

It's depending on your CPU, for exemple on mine I have to set it to 650Mhz for it to be stable, and over 670 it's crashing
And I guess overclock + X10 rom would mean a HUGE battery drain.
hmm.... yea you got a point..
well if i succeed we will see ;D
hmm i unpacked everything, but i can't seem to unpack the .sin files :S
i already tryed to change the extension to .zip/.rar and tryed to open it with notepad, but it doesn't seem to work :S
and i need to get in these files, to make it so i can try to flash it to my hero..
