definitely looks sweet. i wonder if sprint will get it. also, is the phone cdma as well when/if it reaches usa?
does it have a stylus? if not it is worthless to me

yes, there are all CDMA versions of these phones, there to be released near the end of the year, it says so in my last sentence in my first post.
And yes, the Touch (Diamond) and the Touch Pro (Raphael) have Stylus's.
It's a magnetic stylus that wakes the phone up removal as well

actually i just made it more understandable as i could see as why it was a tab bit confusing, and i made everything just overall more oraganized.
288MB RAM, not 228MB ... as per Engadget
the battery life is something that is a bit interesting. I wonder though, why don't people test the battery limits when multi tasking (eg texting/iming or actively online) for a better portrayal of battery limitations? But so far this is a fantastic phone. unfortunately, I expect to get it next year when it is sold on ebay, heavens knows verizon won't release it till a year after sprint gets it (see htc touch for a good example of that)
Verizon, get your game up, or I will jump the shark
edit
on the negative side, no windows soft key, and the keyboard is missing some vital keys I use on my mogul. What gives?

I truly hope that Big RED won' wait as long as they did with the titan - This phone seems to solve both of the big negatives - screen resolution and RAM. Cannot wait until it comes out!!
would be nice, but I am not even going to get my hopes up thinking it will be with sprint... maybe if someone unlocks it we can use it on sprints cdma?

The phone posted is a GSM phone. It doesn't have a CDMA radio therefore all the hacks in the world will not make it operate on a CDMA network. The only way you will see this phone on Sprint or Verizon is if HTC manufactures CDMA models.

I thought there will be a CDMA version. It's already confirmed in Sprint's roadmap, I thought?
thought that too considering these phones are upgrades to the mogul and the touch...I'm pretty sure there is a sprint model for this because if there isn't...I will be very mad
The Sprint version should be out in October. The only change I'm aware of (other than ditching the GSM radio for CDMA) is losing the forward-facing camera.
Yeah I can't wait for the Sprint version...
However, I have some qualms about the claimed battery life... 8 hours seems ridiculous considering how WEAK the battery is... See reviews of the Touch Diamond for more info...
I get through the day on my Mogul and its got about 40-60% at the end of the day... doubt I could make it through the entire day with either the Diamond or the Touch Pro...
The Touch Pro has a 1130 Mah battery vs the 900 Mah battery Found in the Touch Diamond.

4gb internal memory
*Memory
- 512MB ROM, 228MB RAM
I was assuming it says that but it only has 512mb internal memory. So is the specs wrong or is this not a correct picture?
It could say 4gb internal Mirco SD or something like that meaning it's not SDHC capible but if our phones are SDHC capible then any newer models would be SDHC.
Also it says aGPS so it doesn't have GPS only assisted GPS. It's definately much better than our phones 64mb ram vs 228/288MB. But removing GPS is just odd since even blackberrys have GPS now.

Orange in Poland introduce new max speed in hsdpa 3.6 MB. At present only one laptop card serve this speed offcially /Novatel Merlin XU870 ExpressCard/. Is there any way to get that high speed on Hermes? I usualy use him like modem. I tested two radio rom 1.2xx and 1.38.00.10 and stable max speed in flashget is 1.9 MB.
I think the max HSDPA speed for the Hermes is 1.5MB (maybe 1.8MB), limited by the phones chipset. There are more discussions on this here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298618&highlight=HSDPA+speed

Theoretical maximum speed for the hermes is 1.8mbps
i have only managed to get 1.35mpbs maximum...
for me in Slovakia (Bratislava) maximum was only 900kb/s... but this technology is new in our country, and it is available only in our capital city. but it is the fastest mobile connection I ever had.
PS: is in here somebody from Slovakia/Bratislava who have better results as I have?
I second. It is 1.8mbps.
However due to data packets you will never get 1.8mbps worth of actual user data. That is just a fact.
Hermes ihas chip Qualacom 6275 with maximum transfer rate for HSDPA is 1,8 Mb/s( theoretical).
Newest chip from Qualacom 6280 has possibility to transfer up to 7,2Mb/s - but Hermes & Athena has still Q6275.
Can anyone compare GSM radio performance on the Rose to the Raphael (Touch Pro), or diamond?
I am having real trouble with poor GSM signal on my Touch Pro, and am considering switching to Rose - if it is better. I think Rose shares a lot of the hardware with the Touch Pro/Diamond, so I suspect radio performance will be similar.
TIA

RF always depends alot on where your at. I have both the S740 and the pro and find both have outstanding RF. I have no issues with either. I'm in Arizona and use t-mobile. T-mobile is big on coverage in AZ tho. I never have probs. with any of my devices here. I think you will see no better RF perf. with one over the other.

Oh well. Unfortunately, where I live and work, network coverage is pretty poor. And in this situation I know that my S710 (vox) totally outshines my touchpro for reception. I was hoping the S740 radio performance would be more like the S710 than the touch pro.
By the way, I am on GSM 900, and I guess you will be GSM 1900, so you are likely to have more densely arranged cells - the nearest base station to my house is over 1.5 miles with a large hill in between. The fact that I get any signal at all is quite impressive I suppose.
I had a S710 before - my new Rose has even a better reception (Germany, T-Mobile) ...
Have to admit, from going from a Tytn II to the S740 my signal quality has dropped by at least a half for indoor coverage (from full on the Tytn to 2 on the S740) but no difference in outdoor quality.
nothin is confirm yet but just for kicks!
For all the verizon and sprint users! Would you still buy this phone, if no LTE or WIMAX?
Since they want to keep the Form-factor of the original SGS2
The poll excludes Tmobile and ATT user, since im sure theres 4g for them.
Yes
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA Premium App
Definitely, I'd rather have HSDPA+ and good battery life than LTE and terrible battery life.
I would much rather have Verizon's LTE (if this phone comes out in time before they kill the unlimited data plans in the summer) but I will still buy the T-Mobile version with 21 Mbps HSPA+. However I refuse to buy AT&T (no unlimited data, no free tethering) or Sprint (service and speeds are terrible in my area and in buildings even in NYC).
Yeah. LTE is expensive and not available in my area.
Probably not, as I'm in an LTE area.
With VzW's aggressive LTE rollout plan, I think it's going to be problematical for them to sell high-end phones not capable of supporting it. Those phones will have a very short shelf life and fail miserably in VzW's largest markets.
i'll prefer 3G+4G it's more universal than WiMax technology
No LTE = no thank you. The Verizon version better have LTE, or I'm guaranteed to be waiting for HTC's flagship dual-core LTE product.
3G has always been enough for me, and I'm sure that once 4G starts to become a more natural and everyday thing, if I ever go back to 3G I'll be like "Damn this is slow". But as of now the 3G is enough for me and it has HSPA+ or whatever the **** is, which is not 4G, but a faster 3G, and AT&T has that.
Also, I have been on AT&T for not even a year yet(before then I had T-Mobile for a long while) but I was lucky enough to get onto it just a while before they stopped the unlimited data plan, and so now I am grandfathered into it. So anyone just now looking to join AT&T, I'd see why you don't want to, but for me it's great. (This part was kinda directed to the guy who said he wouldn't buy AT&T.)
Anyways my point is this is one of the fastest and thinnest and best smartphones so far and probably for the year. There are some other phones that can compete, but this definitely kills anything I've seen. Just look at that flash performance! Straight in the browser, watch a video, or whatever, no lag. I could really care less when it comes out, as I have to wait till June anyways for my 1 year upgrade(which I hope is not too expensive, since AT&T seemed to raise the price on that) but if it's not out by June that's okay with me too because I know it will come soon afterwards and I can be one of the first to get it!
But guys the S2 with LTE has a 1.5 Ghz Dual-Core processor. Reason for this is due to the addition of the LTE, so If you are not going to use LTE then wouldn't that mean you get 1.5 Ghz for your apps processing requirements ?
Wouldn't it be better to get the 1.5 Ghz version rather than 1.2 Ghz version ?

Yes that's what I meant, so don't you think we will be able to use all the 1.5Ghz goodness .(Under the condition we are not using the LTE at the time). for our apps ?
As many of you are well aware... regardless of its 4G capability, the 4G frequencies/bands of the Huawei MediaPad (Honor) X2 are not the same as U.S. carriers... so the 4G is pretty much useless here.
I've heard of antenna mods, frequency/band mods, and frequency/band unlocks on some other phones (particularly the HTC One M9), and would like to know if there are any similar solutions for the MediaPad X2.
I understand the HTC One M9 has this capability due to the total spectrum hardware, for which the various carrier specific models simply have their respective frequencies selected and others deactivated. I'm not sure if the MediaPad X2 may have the same loopholes/capabilities, but seriously need a resolution.
My ultimate goal would be to have full carrier spectrum for either U.S. Cellular or Verizon's network (prefer Verizon).
I know this sounds like a lot of work, but I have been running a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (version R960 for U.S. Cellular). I love my large screen and single device solution for calls and browsing... but I need a replacement. The X2 seems to be the only phone with a larger screen, but my job (driver) requires full carrier spectrum capability to maintain communication.
I'm hoping someone with greater capabilities than my own can help me solve the freq/band issue, or point me in the direction of a 6.3" or larger phone with full Verizon network spectrum coverage and modern (better than my Mega 6.3) hardware.
I know this is a tall order, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I have no issue with paying through the nose for a mod/hack phone... so if you know a modder/hacker to construct a device with Verizon compatible Samsung hardware and the MediaPad X2 screen, I'm open to price quotes. I don't care if the frame is made of wood, weighs 20lbs, and barely fits in a tablet format... I just need a tablet with call capability, full spectrum coverage on Verizon's network, and a screen as big (or bigger) than my Mega 6.3 with 1080p or better resolution.
Rate this thread to express how you think the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
it does'nt have dual band wifi
Going by the way Asus is targeting its phone and the audience appeal. Definitely it will be developer friendly. With the recent drift by the Asian OEM's moving closer to "Openess" i believe they will allow BL unlock and release the kernel sources as well. (Example, Xiaomi's approach have change towards kernel sources. And now you can buy Redmi 5, minus wait time and flash sales). All the best to Asus for bringing in this device, looking forwards for Developer community to accept it and bring in some action.
Can any one confirm that dual band wifi works or not. Because dual band is supported by soc but not listed in spec sheet

I have also checked the website but in flipkart (e-commerce website) shows a,b,g,n is supporyed
As far as I remember, Asus always had bug in their software. Some Zenfone 5 got freeze when unlocked, Fonepad 8 brightness bug not solved. Maybe when custom rom ready, we can have ac Wi-Fi.
Up till now, there is no confirmation about the wifi ac. No one has tested it yet. From the SD636 spec, it stated SD636 should have integrated WCN3980 wifi ac (not like SD625 which can have separate module). Maybe the wifi ac is disabled to make sure it doesn't compete with the premium product?
ZenFone Max Pro doesn't have Wi-Fi AC. Even the Wi-Fi n has issues. After software upgrade it causing me problems after problems!
can any one confirm what is the max link rate achievable on the 2.4ghz band . Does it atleast got 2 x antenna to support higher throughput
As these days 2.4ghz on phone is good if we have 2x or more antenna to support spatial stream.
I have seen upto 173Mbps which is good and not possible if it dont have 2x antenna. As if the phone is dual band they dont host 2x antenna which can boost 867Mbps on ac and 300Mbps on 2.4ghz which is hard to come. What do they do with all the power just game. . Also ditching type c is really bad. I am disliking this model
wifi connection problem
can any one pls confirm, if they are having the same issue with asus zenfone max pro m1 --
google play store(many times), norton live update(havent worked yet) , and chrome (crashes and has to be restarted to access internet), these all are not working over wifi when mobile data is turned off or phone is in airplane mode. and when i try to turn off the wifi to switch it on again, the button when moves from right to left, the motion is jittery and not smooth, it hangs for a fraction of a sec in middle.
also my phone's -- android security patch level shows 1 may 2018 with build number opm1.ww_phone-15.2016.1805.318-20180712 ? is it the latest or asus have released any latest after this?
1 more issue-- under network & internet > mobile network > network settings, there it shows 2 mobile networks, where it shows one as card 1 (which is actually airtel)but other correctly as vodafone IN. the displays shows CARD 1 / VODAFONE IN.
and 1 more thing-- the option of enhanced 4g lte mode is available under 1 sim only.?? are those ****ty things happening with my device only or its universal apocalypse.
in short- accessing internet over wifi has many issues with many apps not detecting the internet.
lol...1 more issue--- in the quick settings drop down menu where it shows signal ,time battery etc there is no option of mute, or volume adjustment or volume profile soft key or am i missing something here. though volume menu is integrated separately and only pops up when u press hardware vol up/down key. what a ****ty device
Many apps doesn't work on wifi only work in mobile data. Don't know why many people has this issue.

Hi, it show 72 mbps on wifi info shown on my device zenfone max pro m1 4gb variant. Weird 2.4 ghz only can reach 57 mbps highest while my Samsung s8 plus 2.4 ghz can reach 100 mbps. Same setup no download during test. Maybe it's software not optimized? Anyone please test your wifi highest speed can get how much. Thnx.
N00b disclaimer: I do not vouch for the authenticity of what I state below
1) Our device supports only 2.4Ghz WiFi, however I believe the hardware may support 5Ghz.
2) Default Wifi bonding module probably throttles the speed and tweaking the WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini will support 40Mhz and speed up to 150Mbps (Magisk module available but not tested)
3) I have checked the WCNSS file (found 4 instances) and seen that there is no channel bonding mode defined for 2.4Ghz but it is defined for 5Ghz as 0. Devs may be better able to understand the implications.
Note: I have a 6GB 601KL variant running stock rooted v318 firmware with TWRP recovery.
It means that our phone is capable of running 5G ? It requires 5ghz of band something like that . I don't know much about it . Maybe Asus has kept it as a surprise for the users inside the hardware
I just hope in the future update our device support faster than 60 mbps wifi speed.

Well Asus has surprised us by keeping the Camera2Api code in its stock firmware which is why it can be enabled with ADB without root. But don't get your hopes up !
Who use more than 30Mb/s in smartphone ?
It's no make difference in daily use.
For me, 5GHz is not relevant.
