WIFI doesn't work (WM6) - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

Hi,
My Athena runs WM6 with ROM 2.21.405 and Radio 1.50
Activation of WIFI in COM Manager => OK
Connection to WIFI access point => OK
Get IP address => OK
Open web link on IE => NOT OK with error "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again"
Doing a soft reset doen't help
I tried accessing the Internet from my PC through the same WIFI access point and it works fine. The router/WIFI gateway is from EDIMAX
Thanks a lot for your help
John

Try - Start, settings, connections, wifi, network adaptors tab.
Under 'My network card connects to' ensure it says 'The Internet' and not 'Work'.

Pantaloonie,
It says "The Internet" and not "Work" so the problem does not come from here.

If am not wrong, you need to check
Start/Settings/Connections/Wi-Fi/ click and hold on to your network name/Edit/Next
does your Authentication in Athena match your router setting?
In Athena, there are few choices,
Open, Shared, WPA, WPA-PSK, WPA2, WPA2-PSK
Normally Open is selected, otherwise set your router to match.

pdajoy,
WIFI is not secure, there is no WEP encryption. Authentication is set to "Open" on the Athena but it doesn't work.
Thanks

Is your network name shown in Configure Wireless Networks page?
If yes, then tap on it, should brings you to next page,
If your network name hidden, tick the option box, otherwise blank,
Leave Device to device connection un-ticked, Next
Authentication: Open, stay,
Try -Data Encryption, WEP
Try -Key is automatically provided, tick and un-tick, Next, Finish, Connect.
Correct selection for the above is important.
If still unsuccessful,
you may need to verify your Athena with other available unsecure wireless link.

HD2 WiFi Internet Problem please HELP

In the Wireless Networks it says "Connected" next to my "SSID" i have the correct key and dns/static ip setup. I go on Marketplace, internet browser (Opera), and another internet browser (Skyfire) and none of them work, so basically I'm connected to my router but I have no Internet.
I have HSPL3, ChuckyROM, and Radio Radio_2_11_50_26, I used to have Radio 2_12_50_02_2 but the internet didn't work with that one either.
What could be wrong??

First off why are you using static?
Second have seen these types of issues before with static , try dynamic(DHCP).
well i have to use the dns, i don't need the static ip, i switched to dhcp and only input the dns but it is still not working.

In your settings, when you configured your wifi , in the box that says "connects to:" did you select "The Internet" or "My Work", this should be Internet ...
yea its says "The Internet" and by the way, after i removed the static IP my connection just says Unavailable when i try to connect (I hide my router's SSID so i input the stuff manually)
Oh and i had a motorola cliq before and it connected just fine
ok so for some reason i retried it just now and the internet works...so i guess problem is solved
Hi, I searched the forums and found this thread regarding wifi Internet problem so I'm posting my problems here.
I'm having similar wifi issue. I can connect to home router just fine but when I'm out using either free wifi from some stores (like panera or starbucks) or School wifi, it shows up as "Connected" but when I try browser it won't even show the home page or log in page. I switched from "Work" to "Internet" but it still won't work...
I don't think it's hardware problem but more so OS problem or something i'm missing. This problem only occurs with WinMo 6.5(I use stock rom), and when I boot Dan Android, wifi works fine. I'm not sure if Android's usage of wifi is somehow affecting my WinMo's ability to log into wifi but this is my wild guess.
If someone knows what my problem is could you please help me?
thanks
i think my problem was that when i tried to connect to my wifi, my hd2 was connected to my pc via usb. when i tried to connect when i'm not connected to my pc it worked
that's about all i know, hope it helps
did recognize this too...i think w-lan is disabled when active sync is activated...because the phone can use the internet connection of the pc.
back to topic: do you use static ip's in your home network or does the other networks (school) require a static but you're on dynamic ip?
DN41
hm, I have no idea which ip I use when I'm connected to home or public. How do I check?

Show network key

This is a bit of a strange request but I've managed to forget the wifi password on my router. I connected to it before with my HD2 so I've got the network key saved on it. However when I go through the advanced settings and go to the Configure Wireless Network, it only shows asterisks in the Network Key box. Is there anyway of finding out what the key is on the HD2 withou having to go into the router settings?
Thanks

Wireless Router Problem

Hey guys, I've been searching around the forum and on google the whole night, but haven't managed to solve this problem I'm having.. I'm using Energy rom aug 10th version Cookie gtx.. I'm trying to use my laptop to browse the net using phone as a wireless router. Managed to connect, but it always shows "Limited Connectivity" on my laptop.. Meaning to say, I can't browse the net... I've gone through what some others have suggested eg. turning off "N" mode in bsb tweaks, making sure that the 2 adapters are one "Use server-assigned IP address", making sure that connection is to "The Internet" instead of "Work", updating the drivers for the wireless adaptor on my laptop ... but still, no joy for me... It's been a long time of searching, and I'm pretty worn out, so thought I'd post this question here before I hit the sack.... Anyone knows how I can solve this issue?? Sometimes my home network can be pretty buggy, so I thought that if I could use my HD2 as my router instead, I should at least face lesser problems, but turns out, I can't even connect properly! Help guys... Thanks!
*EDIT* Solved! Peeps who are having issues with using your Leo as a wireless router, follow the steps below!
Note: Credits go to DN41 as he was the one who walked me through it. Please thank him.. =) I'm just posting this as I'm sure that there are others who are also looking for a fix to this.. This may not be the best method, but in my opinion, it's better than no method at all... This should be the last resort if after trying out everthing else, and you still can't get it to work..
First step - On your Leo go to "Settings ---> Wireless Controls ---> Wi-Fi ---> Advanced ---> Adaptor and networks ---> Network Adapters"
You should see the Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter and also the Broadcom 802.11 DHD Network Adapter...
Tap on them and change both these IP addresses to "Use specific IP address" and punch in 192.168.1.1
When you're done, go out of that screen and it should be saved...
Second step - On your notebook, go to "Network and sharing centre ---> Manage wireless networks ---> Adapter Properties"
Untick the "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)"
Click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) ---> Properties" and click "Use the following IP Address"
IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Click ok, and then close the box. *NOTE: Do not use alternate IP's etc. It won't work.*
Start your Wireless router on your Leo and wait for it to start up, and from here you should be able to
connect to your Leo using it as a wireless router! Hope this has managed to help you guys! Thanks once
again to DN41!

not sure, but seems more of a PC problem,
what system are you running - I vaguely recall, that in Vista you could define the Home/Public connection type or sth like that
I'm not sure but I guess PC problem might also be the issue... I'm using Vista Home Edition... Do you know how to define the Home/public connection type and what kind of connection type should be set? Thanks a million!
I use Vista only sporadically, but the last time I tried to use my HD2 as a router for Vista laptop, I only succeeded after several attempts, what helped for the final and successful one was deleting the "Wi Fi router" from network list on PC, soft reset of HD2 (just in case) and start from the scratch
hmm.. so you deleted all the wireless routers?
no, only the HD2 one, which accidentally is named "Wi Fi router"
ok, will try and update here.. =)
=( Still no joy... Sigh...
The Wireless Router I used last week asked which provider to use at the bottom of the main screen. Vista will tel you that you have limited connectivity if you are associated to the WAP but don't have internet access. This implies that you have the wrong provider selected at the bottom of the main screen.
so you are using dhcp?
its worth to try static ip's, or not?
for example: LEO has IP 192.168.1.1 and your pc 192.168.1.2. make sure, that the gateway entered on your pc is LEO's IP..in this case 192.168.1.1
also make sure, that you have disabled IPv6 on your notebook.
that should really work...i dont like dhcp configurations and so i always use static ones...that ever worked!
DN41
okok.. this is getting a little confusing... Can you elaborate a little on what steps to take?
i think you should first check the advice one post before

Ok, which means to say, when you set up your wireless router on your Leo, you are given a choice to choose which provider am I right to say? Let me check and update you guys again.. =)
I've tried changing the settings on my wireless router on my leo to the one's which my provider uses for internet, but still, no internet access on my pc.. =( Going mad trying to configure this... anyone else knows how to fix it?? =(
now you could try static ip's.
i'm not sure, if wm asks you which ip to take while configuring the wifi router.
if yes, then you can give your leo the ip 192.168.1.1 - that should be everything for your leo.
on your pc, go to the settings of your wireless lan adapter. disable ipv6. then go to ipv4 configuration. set ip to 192.168.1.2, subnetmask (is this right translated?) is automatically 255.255.255.0 - finally set as gateway 192.168.1.1
that should work...
DN41
Ok, slow down a little here.. =) So on my Leo, the only place which I can see my IP is under the Settings ---> Wireless Controls ---> Wi-Fi ---> Advanced ---> Adaptor and networks ---> Network Adapters
and I see the Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter and also the Broadcom 802.11 DHD Network Adapter... So I'm to change both these IP addresses to "Use specific IP address" and punch in 192.168.1.1 ??
Next would be for my notebook, where I follow as above to configure the Ip address is that right? I'll update again after I try.. =)
ALRIGHT!! You're da man!! =) Managed to connect and I'm now typing this using the connection from my Leo as the router! Great! Thanks a million DN41! =)
it's a pleasure =) have fun

Hi guys,
Since I flashed Energy Nov13 on my HD2 I've had the same problem. Previously, I would just switch on the wifi router and connect automatically from my laptop, as if with DHCP, but now DHCP isn't working.
I followed the instructions above and I CAN connect to my phone now, except I can't access the internet through it. I changed the two adapter IPs to 192.168.1.1, my laptop is 192.168.1.2 using gateway 192.168.1.1 and the connection is eastablished. However when I try to load a web page I get an "Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found." in Chrome.
This sounds like a DNS misconfiguration on my HD2, but nothing about DNSes was mentioned above. I can access the internet (with Opera) from my phone while the wifi router is active, but it doesn't seem to be routing that connection,
Any thoughts? This is kind of important, though I don't think I'm going to get it working today...

[Q] Connecting to 802.1x EAP network

I cannot get my Evo 3D to connect to a wireless network secured with 802.1x PEAP MSCHAPv2. I know my login/password are fine. It just hangs on the "Obtaining IP address" and retries, but never connects. I used to be able to connect to the network, but it would have problems staying connected (would show it was connected, but would not transfer data). Now I can't get it to connect. I am able to connect fine using my ipod touch.
I've searched several places and have seen that not being able to connect to enterprise wireless networks occurs across many different android phones and has been a problem for many people for years.
Does anyone have any idea on how to get it to connect? I've tried the Wifi Advanced Config to change things and manually adding the network suggestions that seem to come up the most when searching this problem to no avail.

Wifi at my college campus is setup the same way, I had to use Wifi Advanced Config Editor from the Market (LINK) to correctly configure the settings for the network. The other way to do it is manually editing the wpa_supplicant.conf file in /data/misc/wifi, but it's much harder and easier to mess up.
Good luck!
Yeah, I've messed around with wifi advanced config, but haven't found any settings that work. It's weird because it used to connect. I've flashed the stock rom, my own rom based on stock, and the aosp based roms. None of them will connect.

You could try this
Open Wi-Fi Settings from Settings, Wireless & Networks If need be, write down the SSID of the 802.1x network (Case sensitive) Select Add Wi-Fi network Enter the SSID, select security 802.1x Enterprise, EAP method is PEAP, Phase 2 authentication is None, CA certificate and Client certificate are N/A, Identity is your RADIUS or Domain Authentication username, Anonymous Identity can be left blank, and Wireless password is the password to match your RADIUS or Domain Authentication password.
If you change your password you have to 'forget' the network and start again
Or you could look here

But it is for the network which is hidden. It will not be helpful if you create for visible one.
Try the "Leap WIFI free" app from Play Store
Try the "Leap WIFI free" app from Play Store. Its an app provided by a developer called "OneGuyInABasement".
I was having the same issue where I couldn't connect to the (802.1x EAP based) Wifi network at my workplace.
I configured the network through this app and now I can connect just fine.

My Friend's Galaxy Player 5.0 Can't Connect to His Home Wifi

My friend has a Galaxy Player 5.0 and he can connect to other WiFi Networks(It can connect to our school's network, the public optimumwifi network, etc.) but his house's. All the computers in his house can connect to his Home WiFi. His network name shows up on the Wireless Networks list on his Galaxy Player 5.0. He tries to connect to it. He types in the right WiFi password. It says "Connecting", then "Obtaining IP Address" and then right away, it says "Disconnected". Then when he sees it on the Wireless Networks list again, below his network name, it says "Disabled, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK" His router is a Belkin G Wireless 957B73 and all his computers in his house can connect to it, but his Galaxy Player. I tried to help him via Skype ShareScreen. I thought it was because of some setting on his router. I told him to go to 192.168.2.1(His Default Gateway) for the Belkin options and stuff and I don't know what to do from there. I'll keep checking thread and will try to reply ASAP to your post replies if need be.

Do you know if he has MAC filtering enabled? if he disables all security does it do the same thing?
You can have him try and clicking on "forget this network" on the droid and then try logging in again

I'm not entirely sure what MAC filtering is, but I'll do some research on that and tell him about it. I'll also tell him to try different option with the security. Thanks!

Every device has a unique identifier called a MAC address, in the security settings you can enable MAC filtering to only let on devices you have listed connect to the network. chances are he dost have it enabled (most people don't use it)

The Galaxy Player 4.0/5.0 have a ton of issues connecting to Belkin Routers for some reason (it's a known issue). What you have to do is create a static IP for the player in the advanced settings. Go to Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Wi-Fi Settings, hit the menu button and then hit Advanced.
After that select "Use static IP". Now you may have to call Samsung to help you with this part since we all have different settings, but I believe your
"IP Address"- should be set to the one that is shown above, however, the last number should be changed a number that's between 2-255 (don't use the same last number )
"Gateway"- is the IP of your default gateway. On your PC (Windows 7) go to "Network and Sharing Center" then click "Wireless Network Connection Status" after that click "Details" and Look for "IPv4 Default Gateway".
"Netmask"- most likely 255.255.225.0, or 255.255.225.1
"DNS 1"- Is the IP of your DNS Server. Again on Windows go type "Run" in the search bar, then type in "cmd" and press enter a black box should pop up. Paste this "ipconfig /all" without the quotes of course and Look at where it says "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connects:" It should be the last one and say "DNS Servers"
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-find-out-what-my-dns-servers-address-is/ (in case you don't get the DNS 1 thing.
Hope this helps
