I read through all the threads about the new upgrades, but I have not seen anyone talk about power consumption and battery life.
Can someone who has done the upgrade lay out the differences?
It seems to have improved, but I've done quite a few hard resets and other various testing, so I can't say how much.. But it definitely seems to have improved..

About twice a week I have HELL days were the phone gets a work out and tomarrow is one of them.
The old Cingular ROM:
Turn on Phone at 6am-by 12 noon it would be dead, I use a lot of 3G and video streaming.
Tomarrow will be the first hell day since the new ROM, so I will report back tomarrow night and let you know how it goes.
After several days with the new ROM and a full day with the new 1.33 radio it appears that battery life is definitely improved.
I am running radio 1.27 and i can say that with this .rom battery has improved somewhat from what i saw in 1.20.....
The battery life is definitely better on the new ROMs. I'm running 1.27 Radio ROM and with a 3000mah battery my phone last around 10 hours now.
I certainly hope so. I would like to consider myself a power user. I have my push email downloading every 2 minutes. So I am usually dead by 3pm. I hope this will be better under those conditions.
Are people here using the battery saving hacks on the Wiki or are you using the default ROM settings? I have not checked, they might be the same in the new ROM.
I'm only using the default ROM settings.. Minus a few CABs in the extended ROM, but those are mostly things that annoy me anyway (like the Good Email and such)..

Has anyone tried the tweaks on the Wiki with this ROM? If so, how much battery asving do you get and what are the possible side effects?
bat life is so much better.... it would almost be dead by 10pm.. not its still over half by 10
There is a new Radio from Imate in the wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms Anyone try it and is it any better. I didnt download it yet but I imagine take the RUUSigned and put with RUU Wrapper v4 and I'll try it out today.
Here is the thread about the ROM update that is containing the new Radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299597
I combined the RUU with the Olipro RUUWrapper v4 and uploaded to a NON Rapidshare mirror and added to wiki.
http://www.bestsharing.com/files/INdT1250288/RUU Radio Only 1.38.30.10.exe.html
Radios can be uploaded to the xda ftp, the M$ crap was just for ROMs.
been trying it out for the past 2 days...i don't know if it's the new combo of the new Lvsw build with this radio but my battery has gone down faster. I work in a building where typically reception is from poor to non-existent. I carry the phone in my pocket and set to auto band mode and the past two days working from 8 to 1 Battery life have been going down to 40%. On the older wm6 builds with 1.38.00.10 I can typically get around 70% by the time I leave work...
So what's everyone else getting? Have you experienced a decrease in battery life?
On a plus note, I can see that it hangs on to a 3G signal longer before it switches to Edge and a very slight increase in reception.
its no real change from the 1.38 update.... just fixes for WCDMA on the 850Mhz band....

I noticed the battery drain too.
I noticed something "strange" but I can't assure (yet) if it's caused by this Radio ROM or by the WWE AKU 3.3.1 ROM.
The strange behaviour is that my phone auto switched-on apparently without reason (?). It happens when I enter in the underground and the phone losses the signal, and when I leave the underground and the phone catch the signal again...
Since I've installed the Radio ROM and the AKU 3.3.1 almost at same time, I don't know what is the cause. But I will return to a prior Radio ROM in order to know it.
In any case, did anyone noticed something similar?
BTW: Bootloader 1.11 is really fast flashing radio!!!
Fail at 7% ...
Trying to upgrade from the HTC ROM 2.11 which install SPL 1.11
When I run the radio only upgrade, it will start flashing but will stop at around 7%, then reboot.
Any ideas?

Tests finished. It's not a radio behaviour; it's a AKU 3.3.1 behaviour. Does anybody knows how to deactivate it?

My battery is holding charge just fine. My phone hasn't been plugged in since I left for lunch from work yesterday afternoon. I have used it to make several calls and emails since yesterday and it's still showing a full charge.
Of course I live in an area that has really good coverage as well, so my phone doesn't search for signal that much.
I can report the same... no noticed change to battery life.
I have noticed a massive change with battery life. Also i cant go a call more than 30sec with out it breaking up, never a problem before with 1.34
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
I have been running version 2.11 for the HTC Qtek (South Africa) on my imate JasJam, it was running 1.38.00.10
I upgraded the radio to 1.38.30.10, and three times in 24 hours now I've noticed that the jasjam was asking for my PIN code and had switched the phone off.
This never happened with the earlier 1.38.
Has anyone experienced something similar ?
Thanks
JY
No, not to me..
Maybe depends by the ROM installed..
I upgraded the Radio for 2 days and can tell the followings: -
The time required to search network in Hong Kong (3 HK) has been reduced and the signal is stronger than 1.38.00.10. However, I notice one problem, I tried to call my mobile a few times after the upgrade, and 2 out of 10 calls had been directed to voice mail (signal was strong at that time). Don't know it is the problem of this rom or I had that problem long ago (as I hadn't tried before to call myself so many time).
Hi, everyone knows, that 4.000.6 Touch is the best ROM ever made, but as I read through many threads and topics on xda-dev, it seems that probably about one fifth of all users of this great rom is having a terrible problem with its battery drain. Normally, the drain is supposed to be quite good, even better than on WM5. Usually about 4% per night, some even 2% or less.
BUT those with the battery problem have often 5-10% per ONE HOUR. The drain after wake up is from 50mA to 120mA and the drain when using the phone (no wireless, display at maximum level) goes from 140mA to 450mA and so. (Drain after awake is supposed to be around 5mA on well-working ROM).
SO, if you have experienced similar problem, please write down your phone settings. Mine are below and I HAVE drain problem. So we can find out, if there is something we have in common or not and we´ll be able to solve the problem. (it is enough if you post only your Radio (GSM) version, but for being sure, I post everything )
Greetings
HTC Prophet
ROM version: 4.0.0.0.6 WWE --------------l
ROM date: 2/02/07 ---------------------------l
Radio version: 02.07.20 ----------------------l (these can be found in settings/system/device information)
Protocol version: 413.1.03 ------------------l
ExtROM version: 4.0.0.0.6 PV-Touch -----l
IPL: 2.09 ----------------------l
SPL: 2.09.0000 --------------l(these you can see during soft-reset)
I have radio v 2.19.21 and had battery drain issues but also with radio rom 2.69.xx. Usually 1-3 soft resets resolve the draining issues (and I mean _real_ soft resets with the stylus and not with ShutXP).
These problems seem to be related to the lockup-on-boot problem, the first time my battery drained that fast was after one of those lockups.
All that makes me think the problem could be registry-related, since WM6 flushes some reg settings when you do a real soft reset and keeps them when you make a software-induced soft reset.
I had the same issue as Infestor,
Not usually any massive issues, although my battery does seem to drain quicker than some of the other roms I've tried, but once my boot screen froze my battery was practically flat by the morning ( it froze overnight I think)?
The problem is in the new camera app...
ok, I´ll try few soft soft-resets and see what will happen. But I´ve never had any problems with boot lockups (and I have flashed this ROM several times already).
Also the new camera drivers shouldnt´t cause the problem, because then everyone using this ROM would have this problem as well. Btw I think, that in 4.000.6 Touch are the old camera drivers used, but I am not sure, so I will check this out...

It's the old camera driver in the rom not the new driver
Well, well... After around 7 soft-resets (in different combinations) the problem seems to be still here... 135mA with screen on level 3
I thought that flash on Gollums new ROM may solve the problem, but Infestor is apparently using it and he experienced problems too, so it will not be probably something breathtaking
the camera driver in 4.000.6-Touch is really the old (supposed to be good) one: Camera 3.02.23018
Who will solve this is the Master of Riddles.
I havecome to the conclusion that it caused by SR sometime don't clear the memory and therefor there is not enough memory to boot the system so it just gets stuck.... we need an app that starts first in the boot that clears the memory or something like that.... I think that the solution we should look for
Hm, yeah that sounds interesting, but again, I have to say that my Prophet after a week of hard work and lots of SR haven´t experienced any boot stuck. It works with its memory very well, only my battery acts like water pump during summer floods. But certainly such an app might help solve even this.

Let me see... hm, nothing special. Only poutlook.ink, Services.ink and WiFiInit.Ink
Somewhere I´ve read about WiFiInit problems, but it should have been solved already I think.
i think i figured the problem, i had some occasional HUGE battery drain issues,
then my phone wakes from stand by the battery drain was huge.
i did a hard reset, installed everything except battery status, and everything got a lott better.
i think there is an incompatibility with battery status beta 1.04 and this rom.
I had the problems with PDAViet 5 and 6, I installed gullums Touch v6 just yesterday and I have no complaints on this one so far...

I have installed battery status just because I wanted to know how big the drain really is. I wouldn´t install it if I haven´t experienced battery problems before BS instalation, because I like SPB pocket plus much more But maybe thi sversion is somehow strange...I will find out, what version is mine... it is 0.04.203
i must add that strangely even when the thing is in absolute low consumption (hibernation???) it wakes up. and after the previously configured time goes on then it tourns off.
i know this because:
a) have seen it
b) ching battery status (i think its the name), that also has an up time counter, shows me that it has been on more than it should, 'cause i hiibernated it.
there you have a power consumption issue...
The BatteryStatus that goes well in this ROM 4.0.0.6 is the 219
The radio goes the 2.61 well to me
PS: Not English, i use translator, sorry by the annoyances
battery draining is so if you use htc cam.if you remove htc new cam your problem should be fixed, but another problem may be begun, you can not use our perivious cam, because all things in it rotate 180 degrree.
I have flashed to Gullums V6 Touch and battery problem is solved
It is not as quick as Cloudyfa´s one, but still good and very stable - and lasts more than one day
mine does get me into the 3rd day.
it depends on how many times i connect to my wifi network... or how many hours i listen to my mp3 gallery....
usually it last 2 days... using pda viet, and although the little thingy that it turns on ....
I have the problem, too.
My xda neo shows in the morning 100% and, without use, in the afternoon 8%.
My battery hold only one day without use, then I must charge again.

Recently tried some roms and settled for energy warhawk... I also flashed a new radio. 1.02.25.28 to replace 1.02.25.19.
Today, I had insane battery drain. 100% after overnight charge... Off the charger at 6am. 10% warning at 2pm.
Only 1 call, some GPS testing and no wifi or bt...
Is it the the energy warhawk or the radio rom?
Using the same ROM with radio 1.14.25.30.
I didn't have any battery drain issues (sofar)
Maybe this question would be better placed in either the radio thread or the Energy ROM thread?
Try to check out if your device is not in screenoff state instead of sleep state.

If you use that ROM, have you read the first few posts in his thread? Between others it is stated that you should wait for several charging cycles till the battery meter "settles". I think all users of the EnergyRoms know that by now. The meter is just fuzzy after a hard reset and needs some time - in my case 3 days - to come near to reality.
I live in Greece and my carrier is Voda (as you can see).
I tried warhawk titanium + 1.02.25.28 radio and I had the same issues. Batery meter in today screen indicated 70% and system batery was 82 for example. Also batery drain was auful even with GSM only.
I flashed warhawk standard + 1.12.25.19 - Raphael Radio from Test rom (best radio for my device) and everything is fine.
I 'm stick with it.

EXTREMELY important. Normally the rilphone.dll is in the zip included. If not, try to search the radio thread.
However, in some cases, the rilphones might be different to the radio version and still perform well. Like in the latest EnergyRom for TP. Here the chef recommends even to have a combination which doesn't fit in their versions. But it is widely tested and found good.
Normally if rilphone doesn't match the version of the radio, you will have awful drain, the phone gets even warm if not hot...
Search, search, search

Keep in mind that your device STAYS off if you have the power off device checkbox checked in power settings. Just pressing the power button doesn't guarantee it really stays in sleep mode
try changing your file system caches in the tweaktool to normal.

Hi all,
I am sorry if this has been already asked.. I searched the forum but couldn't find what I was looking for.. I am using SD build of American android (CM7.1 based). I dual boot it with WM6.5.. I am on HardSPL 2.08 and radio updated to 2.15.50.14, before installing American Android. My battery drain is not less than 60mA in standby (99% of time) and what I have learned through this forum, It might be due to the current radio version. I intend to downgrade my radio to 2.12.50.02_2, hoping to resolve inappropriate battery issue. My question is.. Is it safe to just flash 2.12.50.02_2 radio without doing any harm to my hd2? BTW, mine is the European version T8585. Thanks in anticipation.
I've only gone up in radio builds not down but I can't imagine it would mess anything up to downgrade. I doubt however that the radio rev is causing the drain issue, it might be but I'm on 2.12 and have similar problems. The number one factor for me is the SD card. With the stock Sandisk HD2 16gb card, all is goodness, I even purchased an identical card so I could easily swap out builds but when I use anything other than the stock card I have massive battery drain issues. So much so that the phone gets physically hot and I'll go from full charge to almost dead in the span of a couple of hours. I've also noticed recently that when I try out a new build for the first couple of hours I get big drain, I'm guessing because the phone is syncing and updating but it's more noticeable now than before.
If you haven't done so try out the MIUI builds, they are incredible.
It's not your radio it's the ROM,
you can safely downgrade to that radio with no problems.
With Android, you don't want any radio below 2.10.50 because then you get problems in the ROMs, you can safely flash any of those (2.10.50 and above) on your phone.
Thanks!!!
Thanks both of you for the prompt reply. I just fully discharged my hd2 and recharged to 100% through AC outlet (not USB). After getting to Android the current widget log shows 7mA on standby.. earlier it was not less than 60mA. So I guess I have to wait and see.. There's no hurry! Thanks again both of you for being so helpful!
no worries man, glad you got it back to 7.
