Hi all,
This is probably a British only question! I have been trying to watch ITV on line (British TV on line) on my Athena using AP 4.0 ROM. It uses an embedded video player and works great on the laptop as you would expect, however when trying on the Athena it tells me I don't have flash player installed. Now on my PDA I do have the mobile version running, but it fails to use this. Ive been having a play with it but I'm beginning to think its a lost cause. to save further strife does anyone know if I'm wasting my time on this one? I got you tube running a treat, but I'm to tight to subscribe to a pay for TV viewer

The flash we have in WM6 is version 7. They probably use version 8 or higher, so no joy.

I was thinking along the same lines that our flash player is not advanced enough to play this kind of video. I will have to get a shift. maybe the new Opera will work when its finished on a final.

check this:
http://www.pockettv.com/
if you upgrade to 2003 then you get mp9

Actually I am using 2003 and use Windows media encoder 9 on a computer at home to broadcast my tv at a very watchable bit rate. I wouldn't suggest using it to watch anything with lots of action but for news or your typical sitcom it is great.
does the tv get streemed to the pda using GRPS ?
if so then wow
Yeah it is streamed through GPRS. Don't get me wrong... it's by no means perfect, but I have no problems watching it. Sometimes when there is not a real good signal it my buffer a few times but other than that I have had no probs.
I use microsoft enconder too, but use on my bluetooth network and it works quite well at 109kb and 148kb. Will be buying a wifi card soon should be able to get it to stream at least at 548kb.
Hi,
I've had no luck trying to get a live stream onto HD2. When on the BBC website: Opera doesn't support Flash and IE just times out without getting a picture.
What's the best way to view F1 please? BBC show live streaming via the 'red button', can we get a feed from that perhaps onto phone?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Pete
You can do it by opening opera on your phone, typing 'opera:config' without the quatation marks into where you put the address. this gives you what looks like a webpage, and if you scroll down it says 'User Prefs'. CLick on this then scroll down to 'custom User agent', which has a box underneath where you have to enter 'HTC_Touch_HD_T8282' (again without quotes). As far as i understand this tells Iplayer youi're using a different version of Opera, the one from the Touch HD, as the HD2 version isn't recognised.
This comes from a great thread with loads of tips on it which you can find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Check it out, for most of it you'll need to know how to change registry values. You cn find that information on this forum or google easily enough, i knew nothing before.
alternatively put android on your SD card and use that, you get a higher quality stream on that and it streams the video directly i the browser.
As far as i know both methods work only on WIFI, and i can't take credit for any of this, all other people's work!
Hi will,
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I already had this reg tweek setup as you need it to watch BBC iPlayer (which works fine).
The trouble is, that with the BBC feed, they do it via 'flash player in a web page' (and not directly through the iPlayer). Even though I have tweeked the reg, the BBC website page for F1 (on HD2 via Opera) still shows the error message, "The media player requires Adobe Flash 9 or higher."
I'm not too keen on putting Android on SD card but I guess if there is no other way of watching it via WinMo then that's that.
Thanks again for your reply.

How about using manila TV (TV Tab) as in Omega ROM?
Hi,
recently I wanted to stream content from my PC and my archos asked for the cinema plug-in.
Actualy several question came into my mind as I thought about bying it:
1.) What exactly is it? Just some codecs - so the archos default videoplayer can play MPEG2,..?
2.) As I don't use the stock ROM - will it work on custom rom's too (UrukDroid)? Dont't think Crayogen will work as it doesn't has the archos player app - am I right?
3.) Wouldnt it be more easy to use another videoplayer instead (-> different ROM usage possible, cheaper then 15€ propably,...) ? Can u give me an advice wich app is worth it if so?
4.) What about hardware decoding then?
5.) What about UPNP capability of other players? Already had UPnPlay - but seems to be qute slow atm.
6.) Oh and one last question abut the Plug-in: I read its enabled in several stock Rom verion atm - did they disable in latest 81 again or is it still enabled?
Well - hope i find some help.
greetings

1) Actually we all have the codecs, the plugin just watermarks the device so the codecs are "free" so we can use it.
2) I dont know if its gona work on Urukdroid, i think no because urukdroid have its own partition..
3) The other video players arent so good as the archos video player because the most of them doht have 4)&5)
6) The cinema plugin is disabled on firmware 2.3.26
Tip:
I have the openAOS boot menu with Urukdroid as normal os and the archos android 2.3.26 for watching movies from my hdd
(You can find instructions in my thread at general section)
I know that since the 4th to last firmware it is free for everyone, don't know if it's been blocked again in the last version but it still works in urukdroid, that I can say for shure

The cinema plugin was "disabled" on firmware 2.3.20 and 2.3.26
In the newest 2.3.81 you need the plugin.. so on 2.3.20 and 2.3.26 it was a failure from archos
I bought the plug-in.
I tried first to install the plug-in on urukdroid but got an error.
Also after 3 times. Then I switch to Android directly the plug-in installed successfully. Back to urukdroid and tried once, but still the error. Then I checked the plug-in status in the settings and saw that the cinema plug-in was installed. Tried to play a video with ac3 audio and was working.
I ordered the plug-in on pluginsky.us for 15$.
I received the key after one business day.

Hey guys - thanks for all your help...
So I think i stay with the version of Lenn for now and perhaps buy it one day if we get a propper upgrade to at least Gingerbread.
Lenn can u provide a link to their servers containing FW .36? can find it anymore and I sadly overwrote my file on my HD with the .81 FW

EDIT:
Damn - another problem showed up - dunno if it happens for any of u - but the default video player f***s up my sound somehow.
The whole sound sounds strange and blurry unless ich change balance completely to one side - then it sounding "hearable" but still not right (btw the balance deosn't chance the balance actualy for me)
What i tested for now is:
Uruk 1.0 with default Video player: sound crappy
Uruk 1.0 with RockPlayer: sound crappy
FW .81 with default Video player: sound crappy
FW .81 with RockPlayer: sound fine
Well as this is not topic regarded anymore we better close this thread and i open a new one:

Well personally I think its lame that Archos does that ****.i
With that Cinema Plug-In...
I just convert my video's with Hamster Free Video Converter it has a special feature for the Archos 10i but it works fine with Archos 70it.
Just Google it But here is the link to the site I have scanned the files : OK .
Well here is the link : http://videoconverter.hamstersoft.com/en/
If you have the money buy it if you want to save up and buy a case use the Converter...
(Hit thanks if helped )
I bought the Cinema plugin because some 40% of my movies were AC3-encoded. Didn't feel like paying $15 for it, but in the end I bought it from archos.com.
Then I installed UrukDroid 1.5 and saw that the plugin was recognized. It would have been pretty sucky for it not to work in UrukDroid.
so here is my sick question
if it works: buying and then use UrukDroid; shouldn't it be also work then to inst v2.3.20 or 2.3.26 of stock FW and run any UrukDroid?
EDIT:
will try just download the FW:
http://update.archos.com/8/gen8/gen8_2.3.26/firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos
2nd EDIT:
k - seems i have to downgrade for - let see if this:
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...8-device-28-32-43-70-101-2-0-71-2-0-54-a.html
works.
3rd EDIT:
downgrade work - plugin of .3.26 sadly not - even its telling registered (perhaps this is also the freeplugins)
I just want to point out that every player has UPNP and SMB capability on the Archos, even if it's not obvious. Just navigate in the filesystem to /sdcard/network, which is where the mountpoints are.

well y i find the network folder "/mnt/storage/network" or "/storage/network" wich should be the same symlinked propably
Thanks for this - nice to know.
Anyway it brings me back to another / old problem - as all what is in those folders are "not_allowed" folders due to unsufficiend rights and the missing capability of my archos to connect to win7 shares

droidmote
I managed to root the device. But running droidmote is still an issue. I got the server up and running, but when using the client it just doent give a response. When starting the server using the huge button it sometimes doesnt run. Just when using the button several times it goes to status started.
Im using server 3.0.7 and client 3.4.4.
I read something about uinput. My device has the sys/modules/uinput folder. But it just has one file called version. So i think i probably miss you right uinput files. Can somebody help me to compile such a file?

you have uinput. you must only use the last version of the server and the last version of the client otherwise not work.
last server version at this date and time is 3.1.3
last version client at this date and time is 3.4.4
the protocol between the server and the client is changed for that reason you need the last versions.
If you buyed the server why not update ? only if you not buyed you can't update
Hi Zulu99,
Yes it works now, i updated to the latest version.
Which "mediacenter" application do you recommend with this device? I installed XBMC but its terrible slow. I also tried a combination of XBMC nightly build with MXplayer. Playing the videos works fine now. But i think the interface of the Nightly build isnt that great. I prefer the interface of the official XBMC.
I also buyed the full version of Archos player. This player plays everything fine, but the problem with Archos is that it keeps scanning my whole HDD for new media, and i just want to select an folder which should be scanned. Any idea how to fix this?
Or do you know a better solution?
Thx
The best solution would be using the android standard video player in combination with XBMC. Till now the only player which displayed Avatar SBS 3d flawless was the standard android player. All other players like, MOBO, BS player, MX player lagged alot.
Does anybody know how to disable the bottom banner of mx player during full screen. I read something about Gesture applications, but this is more for touch devices and this isnt the case for me.
I use XBMC with MX Player.
I love MX Player for another reason. In combination with DreamDroid, i receive the tv streaming from my satellite decoder DreamBox.
I see all tv channels in any room on my Tablet or on Minix Neo G4 attached via hdmi to any tv. and control it with DroidMote.
I like the zoom-in functions for the video in MX Player and is full compatible and controllable with DroidMote.
look this video, especially the last part:

I just bought this tablet in bestbuy. I know nothing about rooting so I would like to make it simple. I would like to run software based on flash, at least that is what they said to me. I would like to watch movie channels on weeb.tv which streams live tv . All I have is black screen on each channel. When I used my PC I have no problems, it runs smooth.
My dream is to conne t my tablet to my hdtv and watch these tv channels in 1080p. I have just ordered micro usb to hdmi adapter. I hope that by the time it arrives you guys will help me.
I tried xbmc but it also has some problems because either it doesn't work or work but in frames, horrible.
I spent last 24hrs to find different versions of flashplayer, usually versions 10.3 and 11.1, but nothing seems to work or maybe I do something wrong.
Can anyone help me?

flash may fall with stock browser on 4.2 and higher, try Boat browser...

Hi, on my samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1 (GT-P5200) not rooted Android 4.2.2 flash did not work with next browser, boat browser, dolphin, standard browser or chrome. Flash works with Puffin and Photon browser. The Puffin Browser works sometimes very slow sometimes it is okay.
The Photon is a little bit better but not fast, but it is enough to stream web tv, video, live sports streams fluently. In the free version you must activate the flash player for each event/program again. I hope that will help somebody.
On my old samsung galaxy tab 10.1N (GT-P7501) rooted Android 4.3.1 flash works with every browser fast and stable.

I can give you only a general description (English are not my native language).1.Working only on rooted devices.2.Go to Adobe(Official site) downloads and download the flash player files for Linux.3.Open them on p.c.4.Transfer the opened files to the sdcard of the tablet.5.Open the terminal emulator give this apk supersu permissions and install the opened files using ubuntu commands without the command sudo.Starting like this [cd sdcard].And continuing with the files like this [tar -zxvf (name of file)].It worked on my device.

It is very likely that flash player can be installed on any rooted android device (including Samsung gt p5200), without using any flash player app.
From the page: http://www.dvd3000.ca/flasharchives.html#release ,you can download fp_32.0.0.207_archive.zip. Once you open this file inside, you will find the files:
flashplayer32_0r0_207_linux_sa.x86_64.tar.gz, flashplayer32_0r0_207_linux_sa_debug.x86_64.tar.gz flashplayer32_0r0_207_linux.x86_64.tar.gz,
flashplayer32_0r0_207_linuxpep.x86_64.tar.gz
If your android is 32 bit use the files:
flashplayer32_0r0_207_linux.i386.tar.gz, flashplayer32_0r0_207_linux_sa.x86_64.tar.gz, flashplayer32_0r0_207_linuxpep.i386.tar.gz
flashplayer32_0r0_207_linux_sa_debug.x86_64.tar.gz
Rename each one of these 4 files to something easy to type. For example flashp1.tar.gz , flashp2.tar.gz etc.
How to open these files:
It's easy for everyone who owns a Linux operating system. But there is an alternative solution.
Did you know that a rooted Android has the ability to completely open all these files with one command? I will describe how to open these files
using a rooted Android. Open Play Store app and type on search line: Terminal Emulator for Android and install this app.
Connect your Android with your PC and transfer all 4 previously downloaded files to the internal storage (SD card) of your Android. Next open Terminal Emulator app and type (After each command press enter):
[su]
[cd /mnt/sdcard]
[mkdir flashc] This command will create an empty folder with the name flashc.
[mv flashp1.tar.gz /mnt/sdcard/flashc] This command will move the file flashp1.tar.gz inside the folder flashc.
Repeat this command for all the other 3 tar.gz files. (Only the name of the file has to be changed).
Next type [cd flashc]
Next type:
[tar -zxvf flashp1.tar.gz]. This command will completely open the file flashp1.tar.gz.
Repeat this command for all the other 3 tar.gz files. (Only the name of the file has to be changed).
Installation
Next type (After each command press enter):
[".flashplayer]
[chmod 775 flashplayer]
[./flashplayer]
[./configure]
[make]
[make install]
[flashplayer *.flv]
[".flash] This command will unblock the terminal from file flashplayer. (When we start a script with the command [".] , we must end it using again the command [".]
Now using a similar process install the files: flashplayerdebugger , libflashplayer.so , libpepflashplayer.so
(Only the name of the file has to be changed).
Next type:
[".usr]
[chmod 775 usr]
[cp -r usr/* /usr] and unblock the terminal from the folder usr.
(Leave the terminal running for some days.)
Notes ; 1. I am not responsible for what will happen to your device after you try any of these instructions.2. If the installation is successful flash player will work on all browsers of your android and is possible to work after any upgrade.
3.Τhis installation can be applied on any android without root , but of course the folder flashc must have been created and prepared on another device.
This is how it works on Huawei P9 lite not rooted.
