Does Prophet support Long press End Key? - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

So i noticed some new apps from the diamond roms and that lead me to the "long press end key" app. I always wanted this key mapping on my prophet but I figured it was a limitation of the OS. But now that WM on kaiser and others supports the long press end key, I was wondering how to make it work on the prophet...
I found out that on the kaiser, all you need to do is create a shortcut lnk in the windows directory called "Long_End.lnk" and point it to whatever you want to run. I tried that but holding down the end key doesn't trigger the shortcut.
Is there a specific driver that needs to be loaded? Or is it limited via hardware?
I'm running WM6.1 (cloudyfa's s4v UC rom)
Thanks,

The keyboard drivers for Prophet do not support this.

=( thanks for the quick response...
The prophet is certainly growing long in the tooth... At least I recently flashed to 6.1 and everything is nice and peppy again!

The Prophet hardware is essentially the same as that in the Touch, so I think it'll last some time yet!

Magic Button?

Anyone have Magic Button running on the Athena under WM6 without any issues? I really want to install this again but I had problems. I don't even remember what issues I had. I just know I uninstalled it the day I flashed to WM6 because of some issues. Let me know if you've had any issues or are running it without a problem and thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'm currently running it atm. Kinda missed the top "home" icon and also running programs icons. I deactivated the task master in WM6 and also in my ILauncher. Running OK so far.

When transitioned from my old WM5 to Advantage’s (HTC X7501) WM6 I also tried installing the Magic Button but didn’t quite work. I strongly recommend buying the WisBar (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/ ) which not only incorporates ALL functions of Magic Button but it adds up tons of new, exciting and very useful ones. You’ll love it.

Actually the latest Magic Button or WKTask, both freeware, are beautiful with WM5 & W6. No need to spend money unless one of these later versions dont accomplish a specific task.
ive never had a problem with magic button on PK3.but once i found out about wktask i switched.much better program that does more.

Hi hamleto,
i´ve searched many weeks, and today i´ve got the answer:
here in the forum i´ve found a little tool/program, called ZapIt!. And there is an article in the german magazin "Pocket PC Magazin 8/07".
put the cab to pda, install and then go to: Start>Settings>Buttons. Here chose for the OK-Button (3) the program Zap IT! as assignmet. Then, the OK-Button close finaly all programs. That´s all for english ROM.
For German ROM´s: copy "Zap IT!" from Windows\Start Menu and paste to Windows\Startmenü.

now that is cool but just one big problem..... now when listening to music it's not posible to minimize to player without closing the player
yes, that´s right. But I have changed under Start>Settings>Buttons the Assignment of Button1 to <Today>, instead of <Start Menu>.
So, when I listen music, I press the Button1, so I´m on the Today-Screen to make other things. For me, that´s what I want.

that or you press the windows key twice (quick succession, like when you double click the left button on a mouse)...it should auto default you back to the Today screen and everything will be minimized
I tried on my PDAVIET 4.0.0.0 touch and it works like a charm.
Thanks

too bad it does not have the option to make some programs exclusive..
HButton will do everything you need. You can map button press to OK/Close, and button hold to Quit (close properly)

I try it with mortscript but how can I set a .lnk file to the ok-button?

Sorry guys, have you tried InClose Mobile?
I use it and it enables not only really close applications, but also has a minimise option...
Check it out and post your oppinion.
VJOkButt was developed to do this, but for now it doesn't support user defined exceptions (eg press ok in Contacts, press minimize in Phone) etc.
But otherwise it works ok I think.

You can map a button to InClose, so when you press the button the InClose menu is dropped down and you can choose what do do with the window.

This is what i have got. "InClose_XE_EN[1].ARMV4I.v5_Setup.exe"
It looks like it is v5, but the problems is that sometimes the menu is not working and that makes everything hanging. Just a soft reset to solve.

hi all
many thanks to all who contribute here. I have a nike w supercid and hardspl which has allowed me to upgrade to wm 6.1 from htc.co.uk. here is my wish list, can you tell of which are possible with some rom?
1. ignore policy-enforced 15 lock timeout so phone never locks
2. turn my useless internet explorer button into an enter key
more to come shortly

Ok, shame, but thanks for the reply anyways
My Nike has been locking up once a week.. hard lock, as in only way to get it working again is to take out the battery. It was doing this on WM6 before I upgraded it, and now also on WM6.1 (with different versions of everything now including radio).
Any way to debug this? I would love to try putting on some "barebones" ROM that has very little in it to see if this helps. I would be willing to sacrifice quite a lot of functionality. I don't know of such roms... Recommendations?
thx

Have a look at animelover's Clean Black or BlackDragon's BD ROM
Both are minimalist.
I prefer to load mine up to the max - the programs are there in the ROM if you need it, and takes no space in RAM, whilst at the same time, keeping the phone's speed/responsiveness up.
Button remapper recognize this buttons, but can't remap it.
I think because it's read only (Poor HTC)
So we need to change it manually in drivers, by IDA pro or HEX editor
I hope this will be useful to who will try to change it

how to enable touchflo finger scrooling

i need help
i port htc touch rom containg touchflo 3
but there is no finger scrooling available can anybody help me what is wrong ?
did the touchflo 3d work with you?
and which rom did you try?
i read that it is still in porting stage as it is vga
and if it even has been ported it would be too slow
see ya
no man I m not talking about touchflo 3d
I I talking about thouchflo which enable finger scrooling in touch devices like elfin opal
which ROM r u usin.........?????
.....touchflo is enabled nly in prouser n manila vanila ROM....
No i think ankit is talking about full finger scrolling even in applications like MS WORD etc which is not enabled by GWES.exe in Pro Users ROM. HTC Touch (Elf) has it, for more details watch videos on you tube that demonstrate this phone.
@Ankit: Count me in buddy, i'm also wiling to do this on every ROM we have, or atleast on the newer ones. This is a very required feature and i am very sure that it doesnt needs any special hardware.
hi guys...
why not burn the free pointui into a win6.5 ROM with the vizta themes they have on their site...its FAAAAST and the themes look REALLY cool!
any feedback?
Regards
hotdoc0
PointUI 2's development is going on very fast. I dont think it will be wise to include it in ROM. THat would hamper updates.
sumit u got my point
now we want to know why it not working
is it required different touch.dll or some registry tweaking
I really dont have much idea about it, but i am searching for it. It can be related to gwes.exe and touch.dll but i suspect HTCStroke.dll, HTCGesture.dll and possibly Biotouch.dll which are part of the package HTCGesture in opal ROM, are reponsible for that functionality. Will try find out more.
@all: Can anybody please suggest me a tool that can be used to view exported functions inside Windows Mobile DLLs? There is a tool that comes with Visual Studio 6 and up called depends.exe that allows that for PC based DLLs but is there something for pocket pc as well?
@Ankit: I think the SmartTouch solve this problem. It is a complement to the touch flo and can be configured to work with different apps. In the RGU of the package already have some apps configured. You can find it in the ROM of iolite.

i try it its not working i think its for navi-wheel not for touch screen
Rightly said ankit. I too tried the HTC Diamond version of it and it didn't worked, and from the registry settings and all, i too got this feeling that its for some navi-wheel instead of touch screen.
Really the SmartTouch is for NaviWheel. Sorry. I will seek some solution, if I find i'll post here.

I think I saw in the dev / hack section that to get tf3d work you need specific tf3d compatible dlls, please search that forum, about porting tf3d.
^^Hey buddy, its not about touchflo 3D actually, Ankit is intrested in getting finger scrolling in all apps.
Hey Ankit, from all the effort i did, here is my conclusion on this issue:
There are two things that enable finger scrolling in WIndows Mobile:
1. MSTouch: This is the functionality built into WIndows Mobile inside the GWES.exe file which runs the graphical windowing system. All the latest builds of Windows mobile has this, including my 6.1 ROMs and your Wm 6.5 ROMs.
2. Touch.dll driver and Biotouch.exe a.k.a TouchFlo: In HTC Touch (Elf) and the others like that. touchscreen hardware is different and so is the driver. The touch.dll that comes with GENE is 27.7 KB in size while in all these touch phones, its about 57.7 KB in size. Apart from this, if you observe closely, the touch phones like elf can differentiate between a finger touch and a stylus touch. For example, if you open a long document in word and use finger with it, it scrolls, but if you use your thumbnail or stylus with it, it will select text. So its a hardware feature not only software. So porting it is out of question if my theory is true. To proove my point, i also tried replacing the touch.dll in OEMDrivers folder with one from Elf, it didnt worked. Device got started but touchscreen was not responding at all.
So thats that. I think we can only have partial fingerscrolling support in our gene using MSTouch. Thats it!
Closed as per OP Request.

I flashed!

Ok, so I finally did it, I flashed a cooked ROM to my Fuze. Whew! I did run into a snag or two, but all is good now and I am even ready to try another one to see some of the differences.
I do have a couple of questions though. Flame me if you must, I can take the heat. However, trust me when I say, I read everything on this site.
1. I chose a "no manilla" version...why did it still have to do the "initial setup of touchflo interface..."? I thought Manilla was TouchFlo and therefore wouldn't need to be there at all. Since I really like SPB MS3, I didn't want anything TouchFlo.
2. I would like to try an NRG ROM, but I still can't quite grasp what customRUU is. Am I free to flash one of these with just the HardSPL that I already did? Or do I need somethign else before flashing one that has this in the folder?
3. Since I am still trying to catch up with what's available out there now...what the heck is CHome? At first, I thought someone mispelled that Google browser thing, but soon figured out that can't be it.

Welcome to the wonderful and addictive world of customized ROMs. It's one of the best ways to get the most from your Raphael, but sometimes we see things that 'aren't quite right' since they haven't gone through the rigor that vendors put their ROMs through. But then again, we get to play with the new, neat stuff!!!
As I understand it, Manila is HTC's interface/Today skin for the Raphael. You don't have to use it, but most ROM's will have it cooked in, so you'll need to go through the 'setup' as the ROM is first booted on your machine. If you don't want to use it, just go to the Today screen settings and de-select the TF entry.
CustomRUU is the application you run to do the actual install from a PC. There's no need to play with it all, just run it, and everything should happen automagically. There's also an option to run the install from a loaded SD card on the unit itself, but I stick to the Activesync connection version myself.
Sorry, can't help with CHome... I have no idea what that is either.
As I said -- welcome!
Therefore you are?

Do you mean the Stylus Alignment? If so, you should always perform a stylus/screen alignment.
Do you mean the G-Sensor Calibration? If so, you should perform the calibration; although you may not use TF3D, many application can "leverage" the G-Sensor capabilities of the device.

I thought that was 'Titanium'
congratulations
Here ya go:
ConfettiCore is the underlying display component shared between Start Menu and Today screen.
CHome is the Today screen itself.
Titanium is the skin; alternatives are Bronze, Neo.
HTH,
* EDIT *
Thanks Da_G for your ever so wonderful wisdom and knowledge about all that is Windows Mobile ...
CHome and Titanium are somewhat interchangable. They both refer to the new 6.5 "Default" interface. If you have CHome installed on your ROM, go to Start>Settings>Today>Items and check "Windows Default". Everything else will uncheck itself. Now you can see CHome in action. CHome is new and ofcourse not yet released by Microsoft, so it is not flawless. Showaco has made a great tool for editing CHome so that you can control what is on the today screen. It takes bit of playing to figure it out, but give it a go. I really have become hooked on the simple effeciency of CHome.
As for the Initial Setup of Touch Flow, this is a left over from a previous ROM. Most of the ROM chefs, do not bother changing the set-up screens because they do not matter. They are simply something to display while the phone configures itself. Other Chefs seem to enjoy changing this screen, so results may vary. In any event, no need to worry.
RUU is the wrapper that installs your ROM image on the phone. When you download a rom and unzip it into a folder, there usually are 2 files, the RUU and the NBH file. The NBH file is the real ROM image. The RUU or Wrapper is what installs it to the phone. If you unzip a ROM and the wrapper is missing, simply copy it from a different ROM you have unzipped and add it to the folder with teh NBH file you want to flash. The RUU/Wrapper does not change from ROM to ROM, only the NBH changes. With both the RUU and the NBH in a folder, launch the RUU and it will load the ROM in that folder.
HARD SLP is the first step that will allow you to Flash Custom ROMS. AFTER you Hard SPL according to the directions, choose a ROM, download, unzip and launch the wrapper. You must be attached via activesync. After that, off you go.
Enjoy. Every ROM is like getting a new phone.

DAMN! For months, I had been thinking "if only one of these XDA guys lived here, he could show me how to do this and I wouldn't be terrified of bricking my phone"...and here you are?!?!?
Actualy, Titanium is the base WM 6.5 user interface\homescreen, chome refers to the dll plugin being utilized by Titanium. chome was ported from the WM 6.1 slidding panels interface made for smartphones and has been optimized by Showaco and others to offer more pluggin options with Titanium!
Manila 3D is HTC's user interface it is used in conjuction with touchflo but they are different things kind of, touchflo just refers to being able to scroll with your fingers and how the physics engine operates.
RUU stands for ROM Update Utility, it creates a bridge to your bootloader from your PC to flash through Active Sync\ Device Manager.
Hope this helps some!
