WM2003SE or WM2003 NON SE ? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi,
I currently own a Himalaya (XDA II) with WM2003 (non se)
1.72.00WWE
Radio : 1.17.00
Protocol Version : 1337.28
I see that there are Various WM2003SE Roms avaliable for the Himalaya here :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Different Customized WM2003SE for HIMALAYA
Are these more stable and do they have better bluetooth performance? As I notice my himalaya cannot connect to many other phones on bluetooth, apparently thats a problem with the Himalaya I have been told.
Or is WM2003SE basically just WM2003 with Landscape mode option? or is there more to it? example bugfixes, better bluetooth performance/compatibility ?
Thanks if anyone can give me some info.
kidcash.

can soime one reply. id also like to know as i am same situ

Which ROM is the best? (t-mobile, qtek, o2...)

Hi Everybody!
Just got this wonderful PPC from T-Mobile, I have now:
- ROM version 1.60.00WWE
- ROM date 12/03/03
- Radio version 1.10.00
- Protocol version 1337.18
- ExtROM version 1.60.36
I'd like to know if it is available any BETTER ROM (English or Italian) and what could be the differences with the one I already have.
For istance, what is the difference between i-MATE, T-Mobile, O2 and Qtek ROMS? Which one is the best?
I heard rumors about the ROM version 1.66 that was affected with several problems (battery life decreasing...?)
Of course I don't know how to COOK roms...but I can learn it!
to mdkia: I'm really impressed of your skill about these stuff, can you give me a little help pls? Grazie 1000

bluetooth upgrade

Can anybody advise is it possible to upgrade the bluetooth stack in the XDaII at all? my current hardware/software configuration is;
microsoft PPC 4.20.1081 (build13100)
ROM version 103.00 USA
Radio Version 1.05.12
Potocol version 1337.12
can you advise on sources, success, issues and resolutions or otherwise please?
thanks
Pete
As your ROM is quite old (the first afaik), I would suggest an upgrade to
OS 1.72.00WWE
Radio 1.17.00
ExtROM Whatever contents you want.
To make things easier, I created a upgrade package for T-Mobile branded XDA2 / MDAII devices. Search for RUU172901*
Remind that you should only upgrade when your device is not working as it should be and/or if you need extra functionalitrybthat is supplied in a newer ROM (like Bluetooth in 1.72.00)

New MDA II - Where to start with? Advantage of WM2003SE?

Hi,
on Christmas i got a MDA II.
I started reading a lot but yet im a bit unsure where to start with.
My current system is:
T Mobile MDA II
ROM: 1.03.00 GER
Date: 09/25/03 (seems to be quite an old one, huh?)
Radio: 1.05.12
Protokoll: 1337.12
I already know there is a 1.72 Rom update from t-mobile out, which is probably the first thing i should "install".
The next thing i am curious about is WM2003SE. I noticed a lot of people seem to use it here, so what's the advantage to the current system? Will the english version mix up any German programms? WM2005 on the other Hand seems to be a bit buggy on the Himalaya?
Im going to use my MDA for Navigation with a BT Mouse, will upgrading on 1.72 + WM2003SE fix the Bluetooth issue?
Any other hints on "must have's" tool, software, updates?
Thx for any advises.
Hi, I also have the VPA 2 (the same like yours just from Vodafone).
At first I also had the original Rom from Vodafone. After a while I testet WM2003SE, which is much more stable then the older one. Bluetooth is also working better, no need of Bluetooth Tools anymore. The only bad thing is that its on englisch , but that is ok. It doesn't change your other Programms, when they are german they will stay german.
WM 2005 is also not bad, but not all the software is working there.
PS: For navigation use TomTom 5, its really great, and especially the warning Function of Points of Interest is great.

Hi Björn,
welcome to XDA-Developers.com (Herzlich Willkommen, es ist immer schön jemanden Neues aus Deutschland begrüßen zu dürfen)!! If you're looking for 3rd party programs, have a look here:

If you're looking for the T-Mobile 1.72.170 ROM upgrade, go here:

Which provider are you using your MDA II with? I'm using mine with E-Plus but am having problems with the GPRS settings. Entering them manually doesn't really work.
Thx for the links.
Actually, i don't really use any provider. I hardly used any mobile phones, so i only had an vodafon prepaid card. However i am currently looking for a well-priced option to use internet with my pocket pc.
@da4walker: Which WM2003SE build are you using?
IN Device Information there is shown: 2.20.07CHS (but its englisch)
Build from the 09/17/04
It's working really good, thats why I didn't try any other version
cu
The 2.20.07 translated SE ROM is the fastest and most stable SE rom for Himalaya imho.
You might want to try my cooked rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39938
Its just the 2.20.07CHS and 1.18 radio but with a generic ExtROM.
Advantages f this rom above the 1.72 or 1.75 non-SE roms are Intellidialer, Landscape, again better BT support (although with 1.72 you did not need those BT Tools anymore too)

WM2k5 [1].65b.96WWE for i-mate PE

I have read all the posts in regards to upgrading but I still need to make a clarification. Will the above upgrade which I have downloaded from http://buzzdev.net work for i-mate PE with the following specs:
ROM 1.72.00WWE
Radio: 1.14.00
ExtROM: 1.72.800
No impact on local telecom provider or with the fact that the device is i-mate and not xda?
Is [1].65b.96WWE the latest version?
yes , this will works fine , but , upgrade too your radio to 1.17 ...
1.65b is the latest u^grade , but some bugs are found ... if you wait few weeks ... maybe days , 1.70a will be released ...

I use to use WM5 and WM6 - it is my opinion only: wm6 is massaged version of WM5. If you need stability and andvance networking - I would use wm5; if you want to try "new" OS and you have a will of dealling with something "not working" - WM6. Said that, I see no big advantage of WM6 exept cosmetics for the average user (but if your life is latest and greates - go for it).
Now, bluetooth or Wifi were working fine for me in WM5 and WM6 (G4 unit). It is mostly related to the radio rom and drivers build in OS.
