i flashed my p4000 to the new rom, and my pst info cleared, which i have written down, but when i go to enter the new info in, it asks me for a unlock code...
in all the tuts i read it never told me how to check it or anything i dont know what the unlock code would be, i also bought it used, anyone know?
i cant use my phone until i fix this, and i really need my phone tonight.
Unlock code for the SIM or the phone? I presume theres nothing on your device till now, why not hard-reset or upgrade to another ROM?
Regards,
Carty..
htc p4000 have no sim cards.
im doing the ##778 to get into the PST menu, then when i try to edit it, to input my #, it asks me for an unlock code... :S
have you tried all 0s or 123456 or your phone number?
yes i tried a couple.
000000
123456
654321
i havnt changed the code...anyone know how to change it through an app or the default code?

If it's anything like sprint, then a simple call to your carrier should remedy the problem. with sprint it's called an "MSL" and they give it to you when programming your phone. So if you call and tell them that you need to 'reprogram' your phone, they should walk you through the steps along with giving you the code.
if i reflash it with the nueROM v2 build 5022, its a sprint rom...so that would mean i could use the 000000 as the unlock code?
also, after flashing to the new roms, my phone continually reset...would go on for a minute then reset... thats why i went back to my default rom, but now its asking for an unlock code >.>
Unzip this to your phone. Take your battery off and write down your Hex ESN. Run GetSPC.exe. Type your Hex ESN in the first box. The second box will be your unlock code.
*edit - removed file, missing keygen and someone linked to it on the next page.
k ill try that out, thank you.
any reason why my phone would be constantly reseting after installing the new roms?
k.
my EST is
but when i type that in, its saying "could not link to dll"
?
If I were you I would edit that post and remove that ESN # ASAP, people can use that to steal your service.

you might try the program found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1541466 (it's the program called GetSPC)
i tried it on my phone and it provided an MSL number. hafta admit, tho - the MSL it gave me didn't work (and it differs from the MSL i have written down for my phone).
i might also suggest that you SEARCH...it's what I did to find the above. you might also try calling your carrier and ask them what the unlock code is.
OH -- use a HEX version of the ESN, and use ALL CAPS for any letters in the HEX version. It still may provide you with an invalid MSL...but worth a shot.
Make sure you are using the correct number for ESN, just converting the number from the back of your phone to hex will not work. Click program settings and device information on the bottom it will say ESN followed by a 8 digit hex number..that is the hex esn, you then put that in GetSPC and it will give you your 6 digit master unlock code. Dial ##6digitcodeSEND and it will open up to a place with 2 settings that can be changed, enter your 10 digit phone number for these two settings.
If you still can't get it, call Telus & tell them you can't make any calls, they will walk you thru the reprogramming process.

Don't know why it didn't work, it's the exact same program. The only thing I took out was the PPC 2003 version so you wouldn't run that by mistake.
*edit - just downloaded it & it's missing the keygen. I don't know how that happened, sorry. I would've just linked to the original but I couldn't remember where I'd gotten it initially.
Hello all,
Last night, I tried updating my Rom on a sprint mogul to the recent dcd 2.2.6 and 3.27 radio.
I followed the steps of taking down the information, finding my unlock code, unlocking, and updating both roms.
It went with no problems. However my MSID was reset so i had to enter my unlock code that i got from get spc. before i reflashed my device, i checked to see if the code worked by trying to enter and edit epst.
But in windows 6.1 the unlock code didnt work, my msid and mdn were set to all 0.
I called sprint they gave me the same unlock code that didnt work.
So i tried reflashing back to the original sprint official release, that didnt work, i was getting an error 328 from the ruu.
I tried reflashing again dcd 2.2.6 rom, that worked but the radio wouldnt flash due to the same invalid command error 328 from the ruu.
So for a while i was stuck on the htc splash screen with a no radio display. I found a thread with a solution to the same problem. I flashed the leaked sprint rom 3.16, that worked and i was able to get up and running.
However in epst mode my hex and dec esn are all zeros. my original unlock code doesnt work, (the one from sprint), but when i enter in all 0 in getspc it generates the proper unlock code,
but i still can not connect to the sprint network even tho i am able to set my msid and msn to the correct values, my esn is still wrong (displays all zeros)
Can any please tell me if i can fix this, I was on the phone with sprint for 2 hrs with no avail. I need to set my esn on the phone to match my esn in hardware
Thank you,
Kevin
Okay, if I read your post right you do have your MSL number (unlock code) right? If you do, go to your keypad on the phone and dial ##3282# (##DATA#). It should ask you if you want to view or edit. Choose edit and type in your MSL number. On the main screen there should be an option on the left softkey that says "View Info". Choose that and then select "Advanced". At the top I believe you can edit your ESN number.
Hope that helps.

thank you for your reply.
I do have my unlock code. the ##data# shows the esn in advanced settings, but the box is greyed out and will not allow me to edit it.
It still shows 00000000.
Thank you, any other ideas, maybe a registy edit?
It sounds like something happened during the flash process. I talked to a PCS rep and they said you would have to bring it in and get it swapped. I can't think on any other way to get that info updated. Sorry.
no there is another way, you can sniff for the spc, the original thread about getspc had directions @ ppcgeeks

I went to a sprint tech and they said they i had to replace the phone, and they would order me a new one. but right now i have to wait the warehouse doesnt have any instock.
there is another way however, if it was erased by software, it can be changed by software.
I did not find anything relevant on the link above, i will keep looking through it. If someone could point me in a closer direction.
I do have my unlock code, currently all zeros, so im not looking to get my MSL number, im looking to change my ESN back to what it was, somehow it was set to all 0's during the rom update process.
Thank you,
Kevin
Perhaps you should change the thread title to something more specific to separate yourself from the masses who can't boot because they didn't upgrade their radio.
Perhaps try an RTN reset? This is a hard reset that erases provisioning data. I don't know if it can restore an ESN, but worth a try.

The phone needs to have the unlocker program run to install a custom rom. The code from GetSPC allows you to edit the settings not unlock your phone.

Look i dont need any smart comments.
Well actually for your information, the MSL code is used to unlock your phone. the unlocker program is used to unlock your bootloader to accept a custom rom.
MSL - master subsidy lock, this locks network settings so that a user can not change them, the code given by getspc is stored in nV ram on the phone and is used to gain access to these files, thus "unlocking" the phone. unlocking the bootloader is another story...
anywho, i was able to get my phone working, i reprogrammed my esn, reprogrammed my MSL from all zeros to the proper value, and now my phone is back on the sprint network.
if you guys are interested i will write a tutorial on how i did this, just to respond to the other post, a hard reset does not restore esn data.
Good for you! I'm glad you figured it out. I would be interested on how you got it working again.

This would be a handy bit of knowledge as they go thru great lengths to keep it from being done. Ususally the filesystem for that section of the phone is locked and protected, requiring the QXDM (Qualcomm Extensible Diagnostic Monitor) software to get in. I have an older version that I used to use to play with older phones and it worked great, but a newer one would be needed for these phones. Old style glitch corruption will mess up any filesystem and even mess up protected areas, which is likely what happened to yours. I would love to know how you did it without QXDM ;-)Thanks.

Krazeintentz,
I would be very interested in your final fix for this problem. The exact same thing happened to me a while back and my only way out at the time was a replacement titan under warranty from vzw.
If we had your steps to recovery then we would be a lot closer to having a disaster recovery wiki.
As another poster said, yours was a real rom flashing problem as opposed to the numerous "brick" cases that we see everyday from just half done flashes. So it makes it all the more relevant that we have a wiki for this problem.
Regards
Since he has not said, heres a theory
The filesystem is protected from editing in the address range where the ESN resides. The QXDM software shows the actual file structure of the chipsets flash and the files have actual attributes and the ESN file is read only, so the EPST is not supposed to be able to edit the ESN (as this would be cloneing a phone and not legal). If you follow the steps in a flash memory update, you would see that the contents of these protected files are read, saved, and then the flash is totally erased, then written with the new revision, and finally the protected storage is written and the attribute is set to read only. The QXDM is required to manually unlock these attributes, but there is a key that allows the flash utility to erase the stuff. if the flash was interrupted either by hardware or software error at the point after the erase and writeback but before the write of protected file area, the ESN would be blank and also the EPST in the phone would be able to edit it in edit mode because the attribute is the very last thing written. I bet thats how he fixed it and now has a cloneable phone too and can change his ESN any time he wants, at least until he flashes the radio again which will fix the glitch by process. Thats probably what he did.

Hi everyone, well i been working on this all day and have finally gave up..
Right now, since i flashed about 2 weeks ago, i still have not had a working data connection.. always fails. GPS works great, but useless if i cant use google maps, and my main reason for purchasing the phone was for the data connection.
I would really like to talk to any fellow *Telus* members that have GPS working + data connection. I seem like i have done everything i can.
Also, if i cant get the data connection working, I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get the OEM Telus rom. I would like to revert back to a stock phone, radio/bootloader/rom the whole kit--incase i want to send it back to telus
Thanks
[edit]
Im currently running dcd 2.2.3 rom
radio 3.27.00
[UPDATE]
See my last post for info on how I fixed my problem!
I am having similar problems on my XV6800. I first went from stock to 1.6.10 with no problems, then up to the 2.1 to 2.3.1, no problems. I then downgrade to try out 1.7 and now I cannot get data to connect. Everything else works fine, but no data. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I've followed the same "upgrade path" as you and now have the identical problem with my vzw xv6800 and dcd's 1.7.0. I posted in dcd's 1.7.0 kitchen thread since this one's title didn't really match.
So i guess the real question is how do we revert and go back to a stock device so we can try again from the start?
Its weird, so many people have their gps & data connection working fine. I know for me, all i have found is sprint information which is useless for me as a telus client again, any of you telus users out there id like to know your secret
I was having data problems when I first upgraded. If you can try going to settings, personal, phone, services, internet, initiate IOTA, see if that works. If not you may need some programming on the end of your carrier. After calling Sprint it got sorted out and my internet works just fine now.

Here's the "upgrade" path I've taken on my vzw xv6800.
Stock -> Olipro 1.20 -> 1.40.00 radio -> various dcd 1.6.x roms and others -> Olipro 2.40 -> 3.27.00 radio -> various dcd 2.x.x roms and others -> Olipro 1.20 -> 1.40.00 radio -> dcd 1.7.0 rom.
I've never needed an A-Key or had a problem with voice or data after a flash.
The data connection seems to reject any username/password I enter. I've tried using u:<number>@vzw3g.com p:vzw, and leaving both blank and checking "save password", neither work.
I can make/receive calls fine, IOTA seems to work fine.
I've tried flashing a rom with dcd's BuildOS defaults, and one with only a carrier change to vzw, same behavior with both.
I've found one other person that followed the same upgrade path, and has the same problem, in this post.
Any ideas?

You have previous data session active from other ROM build. So your account is still logged in on verizon server.
It's like IRC when you get disconnected from internet, then reconnect and login to IRC and see your previous name is still in the channels. You need to wait a bit for it to "timeout".
Have to either call verizon and have them kick off the ghost, or turn off your phone, take the battery out, and wait about 20 minute.
Goodluck!

My phone doesnt have the Internet option there. I also installed iota.cab but something tells me its sprint specific, it failed aways.
I called *22803 and did the over the air programming that way. It fixed a roaming issue i originally had... somehow after the flash i had ended up with a wrong PRL.
One thing that i have noticed that is very odd. When i enter ##778 and click edit and enter my unlock code and click the View Info and M. IP Default Profile. The NAI value is my hex esn and sprint in the form of an email address!
When i was writing down my provision data (before my first flash) i did a quick look thru of all the options and that value was [email protected] -- not sprint.
Its weird that im a telus user, yet have spring information in my phone.
Further down the list is HA Shared Secret and AAA Shared Secret. These have strange data that i think are probably wrong if the NAI is wrong as well.
Any ideas?
When I first called Sprint they had me replace the HA and AAA secret stuff, but it didn't help me. Somewhere along the lines some of my data was lost and needed to be reconfigured on their end. That may be what has happened to you. You might try downgrading , but in my experience it did nothing, I was still unable to use data when I downgraded.

did they have you clear the fields? or enter some info? im afraid to clear it just incase and it would be *super* hard typing it back in lol
They had me retype the HA and AAA, but that wasn't the problem. I think it is best to call them up and see what they have to say. Just tell them you've done a hard reset and then your data connection quit working. Don't let them know you flashed a custom rom and tell them you think you need to reprovision your data connection. That should get it sorted out.

Also, I have tried cooking a couple roms using dcds 2.3.2 kitchen but not luck -- still no data connection. So fustrating being the only one without a data connection lol

I called telus and played dumb aswell. I asked them if its possible that things got screwed up on their end such as having a phantom me still logged into the data service but the lady said that it was impossible. I also asked if there was anything reprovision yadda yadda..
All she suggested was check my MDN and MSID and if that was ok (which is was) then take it in for warranty.
With all that said and done though, flashing to the stock rom worked. so some how the roms i have been trying just arent allowing me to use the data connection
I don't use Telus so I'm just guessing, but when you "played dumb" did you simply say that you can't establish a data connection after doing a hard reset?

I am with telus, mine is working perfectly.
Been using different version of DCD roms. I was having lots of problems. like the phone freezing not connecting to active sync after installing programs. I have since cooked 2.3.2 rom and been using it for a few days. Everything seems to be working perfectly.
maybe try flashing your radio again? I was gonna suggest your MSID..etc. But it seems you have checked it with Telus already.
Have you looked in modem and make sure you have #777 in there? (I am sure telus prolly would have had you check that...but just incase)

Perhaps try doing and RTN reset then reprovisioning your phone? RTN reset is a hard reset that also wipes all provisioning data to defaults. Then you will need to reprogram your phone with MDN and MSID. Only proceed if you know your MSL, MSID, and MDN. Or after doing the reset have Telus walk you through reprogramming your phone.

Heres what i did on my latest flash using a rom someone else has no trouble running:
flashed from the bootloader screen after the device makes a beep on the computer
first boot, set up screen by tapping points
rom makes customizations and does a reboot
i check my MND and MSID via ##390215 - everything checks out (its my number with area code)
next i head to phone settings and check the number is good there. yep
now i attempt to call my voicemail - works
i call someone - works
next i wanna test data so i first have to set up modem...
Settings > connections > connections
Advanced > select networks - I choose a name "my isp name"
under modem tab i add new and select a name for it "my connection"
next, enter #777 for dialup
fill out user/pass (user being my phone + @1x.telusmobility.com and pass being esn decimal form)
i click finish and open up pie
enter a website - www.google.com
pie tells me its invalid and does not try to even start a data connection
I try installing google maps, so i copy cab to sd card, in file manager copy, nav to My Documents folder and paste
I get access denied. be certain there is enough memory yada yada and same thing happens when i try to copy a file to the sd card -- weird
so i try use camera take some pictures, they save to the sd card and not the internal space - and manually copying doesnt work either
so i check how much space i have free... Storage total: 167.40mb inuse 3mb free 164.35mb, program: total 46mb in use: 23.77mb free 22.23mb
storage card tab says i have 1857.91 mb free
Activesync will not let me connect to the device so i cant try installing software like that.even though i have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, seems to be device issue due to rom
so i double check my device settings: ROM version DCD 2.3.2, Radio 3.27.00, browser msie 6.0, ESN is correct in hex form
at this point i dont know what to do
tried to make this as detailed as i can so someone can possibly tell if i missed a step along the lines somewhere
I think you problem is here:
# next, enter #777 for dialup
# fill out user/pass (user being my phone + @1x.telusmobility.com and pass being esn decimal form)

There should not be any username/pass there...at least I don't and it is working for me. I think it is more to do with your ##778 under you NAI...change it there...
I upgraded my new 6800 yesterday using the directions Here.
I upgraded to Olipro 2.40, CDMA Radio 3.42.02 , and DCD Titans 3.20 ROM. The upgrade went smooth enough. I was unable to use my 1GB microSD card but I was able to use USB. When I was finished I installed the verizon carrier cab. I called *228 to program my phone. Programming failed and it failed because my ESN was now set to all zeros. I attempted to reset the ESN using CDMA workshop and the instructions in the troubleshooting section of the wiki. It failed and now CDMA workshop is unable to access my ESN at all. See my previous post. When CDMA workshop reads from the phone it pulls all the info except for the ESN and the Number fields . It says ':: Failed ::" in the phone information box on the left for both of those fields. It also gives me an error "Cant read EFS" when I try to pull up the phones setting using ESF. It is like some portions of the phone are now locked (or deleted).
I decided to try to flash back to the original stock ROM and I am unable to do so. I am unable to reflash my bootloader, the radio, or the DCD ROM. I cant do it using the microSD and when I try doing it via USB I get an Error 328, Invalid Command. My phone boots fine but I cant change any of the ROMS. I can also see all my phones programming settings using ##3424, using CDMA workshop, and QPST) but I am unable to change any of them. It is like my phone is partially locked.
My current bootloader says
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
and during startup it says:
M 09
B03
P DCAAXAM-4350H
R 3.42.30
D 3.20
Since I cant access the ESN to change it, my phone is not usable. Can anyone help me reset my esn to the correct value? Any suggestions on what to try myself or do I need to send it to someone with the correct tools? or is my phone beyond repair? If you need additional information, I can provide that as well. Thanks.
I'm looking into it for you. Give me a little.

Thank you very much for any assistance you can give me.
Have you tried ##778 enter 000000 for the unlock code. Use edit. Just a thought, we may be talking about 2 different things.

I did try that but when I had EPST in edit mode, I could only change a few of the values and the ESN was not one of them.
I was able to fix my phone. I tried to re-flash my phone again back to stock but this time I tried it using my laptop. I still could not get the microSD method to work but USB did work this time. When I was finished, my esn was reset again to all zeros (previously it had been a mix of my real esn and zeros like 35782000). I ran CDMA workshop again and this time the change from all zeros to the correct ESN was successful. My phone also activated successfully using *228.
I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere in this forum...but no matter how I search...it does not reveal anything I can use.
I recently upgraded to DCD 3.2.6 with the .50 radio and SPL 2.47 and used the Verizon carrier cab
My data connection fails every time I try to connect. I get the message PPP Connection Error.
After reading a few post within the forum...it was sometimes suggested to re-run the carrier cab which I did about four times...it tell me that it successful but still fails to connect.
I then called Verizon and they where unable to resolve my connection issue...so they are sending me out a new phone...oh I'm using the XV6800 Verizon.
So...what should I do now?
See if somebody can help me to get my data connection working and tell Verizon not to send out a new phone...or reset my XV6800 back to stock ROM and go for the new one...which of course will probably have the new stock ROM on it...which will not allow me to install a custom ROM.
Any suggestions?

what do you have for your Data Network Connect? #777 and then you need name, password, and domain. I don't remember what those are off the top of my head but need to right or you will not connect. You do have a data package from Verizon, sorry I am in support and have to ask all the simple questions as well as the hard ones. Also have you tried to reload the radio ROM and the DCD ROM again, with the Verizon CAB of course? Most of the issues are cleaned up with reloading the ROM not the carrier cab. Also make sure that your data connection icon in the Comm Manager is lite up or on.
Verizon Data Tech Support ran me through some setting which one of them was to make sure I had my phone#@vzw3g.com and the pass of vzw set correctly...which I did
That still did not work...when that did not fix the problem...he went no further...and said we need to send you out a new phone.
I'm in the process of downloading the ROM radio again and going to try the procedure again...

Your probably not authenticated on the VZW network. Its miserable when that happens. DO you have a spare phone around? If so activate that phone against your phone number. Wait five minutes and activate the 6800 again. I do it all the time. It will resolve this issue. There is something called a "group password" you are missing. Only VZW can put that in by re provisioning the phone.
There tech support never catches this. IF you have to, call them and just tell them you need your AKey reset. You will get transfered to a security department. They will walk you through a bunch of crap then finally reset your AKEY. You should be able to authenticate as you as you dial the number that lets you program the phone. Cant remember what it is off the top of my head. ##xxx

You can revert to a stock pre-gps ROM. There are instructions to do it somewhere. From then you skip the VZW update and just follow the normal path. I have done it with my phone a 100 times. Thats how I know about the authentication issue you are having.
I do have another phone around here...I might try that
I have just finished re-installing the radio ROM and the 3.2.6 ROM...installed the Verizon carrier cab
ran the *228 option 1
waiting for the phone to reset.
I'm just wondering if I'm following the correct procedure upgrade the phone...
I used the Wiki...but it appears to be as organized as my home office...
so I'm not sure where the best tutorial is to follow upgrading the phone.
Edit...that's was a no go...same issue
Not sure what you mean in your last post...care to elaborate a little on that?
I also read somewhere that if I activate another phone...and then re-activate the 6800...its possible that I will loose my data plan associated with the 6800...
I guess I would have to call them or log into the account and re-add it...
Just an update...
I Spent about 45 minutes on the phone last night with Verizon Tech Support.
I called them back after ready your post above. I asked them if they would reset my Akey, but they wanted me to go thru a few other troubleshooting steps first.
finally at the end of the conversation...the girl on the phone said that the Verizon system is getting an A-Key from the phone and since its getting one...it can not be reset...
So...I'm getting a new phone anyway...
I guess its not all that bad...I have been seeing issues with it locking up on me when I was on the stock ROM...
Thanks for the suggestions...time to go find the thread that will put it back into stock status...for shipping back to Verizon.

I've been through that thread already
However, I'm just going to wait until the new one arrives and try again...
make sure your settings for your data connection do NOT have anything under domain. also, under Connections --> Advanced--> Select Networks, make sure that Verizon Wireless is selected for the first option. i havent heard anything about this for a while, but if this is happening when you try to send or receive an MMS, it can't hurt to make sure your X-VzW-MDN key is set to your 10 digit phone number (HKLM\Software\Archsoft\Archsoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\wspheader)

The first part of your message was checked by me and Verizon...just to make sure...
When I had everything installed and running after the upgrade...MMS was not even available...only thing I had was SMS and email.
I had to install that GC mms/sms cab file to get MMS back on the phone...and that did not even help.
As for the last part of your post
I know that's a registry key...but how do you get to it to check.
Also...just for sh**s and giggle knowing I'm going to be sending this phone back to VZW when the new one shows up...
After converting it back to stock radio, ROM and SPL
I used the official VZW MR1 ROM update and flashed the phone with that...same issue, unable to make data connections...
Thanks for all the support and suggestions...

I had the same problem and when I switched to my old Razr and then back to the XV6800 then ran the carrier cab it worked. It may have took 2 tries (switching back and forth between phones). I did have to reselect a data plan when activating the 6800. I also may have run the carrier cab a few times. It took a lot of messing around but I finally got it to work. I guess if your getting a new phone none of this really matters though.
