The last days I was reading a lot of posts, in order to get more information about this device and the options that i can have using a cooked rom.
But still have some questions, so please be pacient with me.
I have an 7500 with WM5 original rom portuguese language.
I understood that if I want to upgrade with AP5beta I need first to update the radio and then the SPL ( the SPL version will depend on the cooked rom ).
I will not need to unblock it, because it works with different sims.
Also for what I understood once I use the SPL3.5 I can not use anymore original roms ( or downgrade ). Is this correct?
If I upgrade my 7500 with the original WM6 roms, can I later use cooked rom's?
Does anyone, that have used only original rom's, noticed any difference between WM5 and WM6?

Welcome to the forum.
I noted your other post and it seems you are keen to play with your phone.
Sometimes when you do this , things go wrong , occasionally to the exent that it can't be fixed !
Most of the time , the mistakes have been made before, so if you are inexperienced, seek a friend to guide you or look and search on this forum before you do anything rash.
I would sugest first reading the wiki and asking questions showing you have done this first

After this I would suggest learning how to backup and restore data , before attempting to install the various program cabs.
When you are comfortable with this learn how to do a hard reset and reinstall your programs/data etc.
Next I would suggest that you find a copy of your original rom just in case you have to revert to it.
Next try an official Rom.
Along the way , I am sure you will make a mistake , but this is how most people learn how to fix their own problems.
By this time you will understand why you still have to use the athena unlocker

This should give you hours of enjoyment/frustration and along the way you may even learn the pros and cons of the various roms which , in the end are very subjective and depend on personal preference.

Ok, I understand that once I upgrade with a cooked rom based on SPL3.5 I can't go back to original rom's, neither to rom's using SPL1.2
So it means that is a "one go direction".
But what about upgrade to original WM6 and then if I want go to cooked rom's. Is that posible?
Sorry but I don't have this clear after reading your links.
Probably the best to do is going directly to an original rom, but of course if doing that doesn't give me the option of using cooked rom's I must be sure on what direction I must go.

No problem. Upgrade your ATHENA to official WM6 and AFTER you can choose to install the Athena WRAPPER and the cooked ROMs!

I m planning to upgrade to WM6..
After lookin at all the threads i m still havin some doubts..
1.I have finalised on PDA_VIET v4.0.0.1 is it safe for prophet ...with SPL 4 (on reset shows as IPL/SPL 2.15.001)
2.In one of the threads i read as to downgrade using RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID - is it important to do if i m to upgrade with PDA_VIET v4.0.0.1
3.If in case i m stuck in between of the upgrade will i be able to ROLLBACK to my existing WM5..

Can't answer all your questions but with regard to the actual upgrade then follow this thread. Its a sticky right at the top of this forum and is there to aid people through the process.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow it word for word. It works if you do this but you may get into difficulties if you don't - you have been advised.
I have successfully used the process a number of times to go back and forth between WM6 versions and then back to WM5.
Remember that if you want to go back to your original WM5 ROM you'll need the ROM upgrade for this in order to do it. The download links are there for everything you'll need for WM6 - use them.
If you are in any doubt then STOP and don't go any further. Ask for help in the forum or reread the instructions. The large numbers of issues that people seem to have are, I am convinced, caused by either not using the instructions or not following the published ones.
Having used WM6 on my Propher I'd have to say that currently the available ROMs whilst fantastic achievements, aren't really what I'm prepared to use on a daily basis. If you are happy to beta test and install your apps everytime you upgrade then go for it.
I am currently back on WM5 either until I see a WM6 ROM that I am able to use 'in anger' day to day.
I'm really interested to see if we get a working HTC Touch port - now that would be something.

1. Buy a Touch
2. Stay in WM5
The WM6 ROM for Prophet that you are looking for or for that matter, that many are looking for, is still in the kitchen, cooking.....
Unless you feel that you fit the pre-requitsite, or you feel humping Prophet is more enjoyable than .... then jump to the WM6 pool ......

Hey thankks a lot for all your valuable time...
so i conclude that this is not the right time to jump to WM6 as far as prophet is concerned..as the ROM are still BETA am i right ???
but what if I wanna use the PDA_VIET v4.0.0.1 is it safe for prophet ...
or any other ROM.
Also will the newer ROM (if any coming) will be having the TOUCH features..
m really looking fwd to it on my prophet..
Finally do we really gonna have the official WM6 rom for prophet..by any chance ,if yes when...

There will never be an official WM6 release for the prophet, these wm6 roms you'll find are from other pda's made ready for the prophet.
They are all safe to use if you follow the steps that you have red in the upgrade topic.
If you want the HTC Touch gadets on your Prophet you should read this topic and try out the Fantastic Mobiz v2.0b4! rom
You can always switch back to wm5 if you dislike wm6 roms
Any advice: make an backup of your contacts/messages/photoshoots ect. because you will loose anything on your phone memory and find out if you have a G3 or a G4 phone!

I can't say which rom is best for you, they all have their own advantages, you'll have to find out yourself which one suits you
Upgrading your rom has nothing to do with your GSM service provider, but your GPRS settings will be lost after an rom update so you'll need to know how to set them right

I have read so many treats for upgrading (New Method).
I am not expert in this.
I have upgraded my Neo form WM5.0 to WM6.0 ,now on Transformation 1.1.
As after reading so many treats seem so many user are seem to be confusing to use new upgrade metho.
As others are doing in a click need to admit on their understanding.
Can any one answer on some of my question ?
I am sure this will help in removing my as well as others doughts.
1, For Hard SPL.
After Hard SPL is my current operating (Transformation 1.1 WM6) will remains the same or only which colour screen will apear on it and I have to update withs some WM Rome.
2, If Hard SPL donsent affect the existing rom.
Then after doing Hard SPL i just need to restart my Neo --> connect to PC
Through Active Syn. and need to exectue ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe from the folder with the ROM.Thats it new WM will be update on my Neo.
3, If I had Hard SPL once,
I read that once you have Hard SPL then no need to do it again,
does it mean once i have done Hard SPL then for any WM i just need to run WM rom that it no need for any Hard SPL.
I am dam sure all Great Gurus of this form is dong or else playing with all this upgradation process for WM 6/6.1.
All of us who are confuse on this new upgradation process will be really thankfull if some one just post some documents with sceeen shots for complete process form beging till the end to WM 6/6.1.
I know all those information are avilable on this form, also tried to read as much as i can but got confuse.
Seeking the answers form Gurus.

Your questions are a bit difficult to understand, but hee.. not everybody is educated in the English language...
I think I did get your point, so I'm trying to answer your questions:
1) HardSPL doesn't affect your OS, it only replaces the standard SPL. This makes it possible to flash any ROM with the RUU instead of only the Vendors release. Keep in mind that this universal ROM has to be in a nk.nbf format.
2) I did answer that question in point 1: Yes after a succesfull installation of HardSPL (you can check the systeminfo at startup) the only thing you have to do when you want to upgrade is to put the nk.nbf of your desired ROM together with the RUU-package and run the RUU when your device is connected through ActiveSync.
3) HardSPL stays resident, that means that you only have to execute that step once. Keep in mind though that most official ROM's install a complete firmware-package: OS, Splash, GSM and SPL. If you install such a ROM the included SPL will overwrite HardSPL. No big deal, but you have to install it again when you want to flash a homecooked ROM again.

Newbie here. I own two smartflips bought from i-mate hq (Dubai). However, i'm now in Aus. WM6 looks nice and i must say, great work and appreciation for those who cook up these ROMs. However, i noticed that all these ROMs start off from either Cingular or QTEK or HTC. why leave i-mate ROMs behind guys? Anyways, before i try out any of these ROMs, i just don't want to end up killing my phone. I've searched high and low for i-mate stock ROMs (WM5). I saw one in a post but that was like WWE or something which i'm not sure what it means. I don't want to register on i-mate and do loads of form-filling and IMEI filling just to get some ROMs. Anyone have any idea of where i can acquire some 'stock' WM5 i-mate ROMs (not qtek or cingular or htc or wotever).
The other thing.. i haven't SuperCID-ed my smartflip. I tried to get to the bootloader (for no reason.. just experimenting) by pressing the keys n all but it doesn't show up. it goes to the i-mate screen.. then flashes an HTC logo and boots WM5. Once again my smartflip is Out-of-the box, hope that helps someone explaining the phenomena. i do have the i-mate CD that came with it. However didn't find and option to install Windows Mobile 5.0. I need a ROM to keep a backup in case i screw up. If anyone could help me obtain an i-mate WM5 ROM, it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, how would one find out the IPL and SPL of the smartflip? As i mentioned i wouldn't like to brick my phone. It is mentioned somewhere that the 3.06 or wotever IPL and SPL version are not capable of flashing through micro-sd card. Not sure but i think the 4.0 or wotever can flash through micro-sd card. Apart from the link(to files) posted in a thread, isn't there an 'official' way of getting to update the IPL and SPL?
Sorry for such a long post. One thing i must say, great work guys. I would like to suggest people to follow up on their threads. there was one 'bricked' post but the person said he found a solution but never posted what his solution was. You used to be able topick up Imate roms from ftp://ftp.clubimate.com
But they won't be nearly as good as the cooked Wm6 ones. Just follow the instruction and flash away.
(WWE means worldwide english)
Flash one of the cooked ones! I use Erofich's 6.1 and it's great.
WWE just means WorldWideEnglish as opposed to other languages.

I have a SmartFlip upgraded with GnatGoSplat's WM6 ROM (Eurofich' WM6 is better but GPRS doesn't work): it works fast and without problems.

Thank you all for your responses. i-mate roms at imate ftp site is confirmed. Thanks unwired. The thing is i take calculated risks and have most info before i do some thing. so if i end up somehow bricking my phone, i will know what to do before dad kills me . Now i just need to update the IPL/SPL and get into bootloader to see if it works. Then gonna flash with WM6 or WM6.1. I just needed a stock ROM to keep as backup because its mentioned somewhere that if your phone is bricked, u can try to flash it using micro-sd card flashing. but that only works with stock ROMs if WM6 flashing fails. Anyways, thanks once again. i will keep you guys updated on my progress.. Thanks!

I Try WM6.1 but it gives me problems importing old sms (the inbox elements are stocked in send items)... i must import old sms ^^'
Jony_aa with Neo is very nice but the home isn't so custumizable: so i flash Gnat's ROM.

IPL/SPL

Sorry for multiple questions. I still haven't been able to get into the bootloader by pressing the voice notes and camera and power on key. I'm still not sure how it goes. Do you have to hold the keys, press the power button and let go immediately of all the three keys or do you have to hold the power button for long with holding the voice and camera keys? i need to check which version of the bootloader i have to make sure it supports flashing from micro-sd. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I was also looking for some way to backup software from my current WM5 ROM. There are some apps that come in-built which i like. But since i don't have the .cab(s) i was wondering if there would be a way to backup software and later on install it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Out of a million tries, I only managed to get into the bootloader ONCE that way. Okay, I exaggerate, but I found it almost impossible to use RECORD, CAMERA, and POWER to get into bootloader. Instead, I've found with the phone OFF, press RECORD, CAMERA, and plug the USB connector into the PC while holding those buttons. It goes into Bootloader every single time that way.
You can back up the built-in apps, but it requires figuring out which files belong to which app, and also getting their registry entries. Then you can either manually copy all those files into the phone and manually import the registry entries, or make them into a cab file to automate it.

Yup! Worked like a charm! i have IPL/SPL 1.02 or wotever.. so i don't need to worry about micro-sd card flashing problems ( i hope i never need to use that in my life). So if it works this way.. i would recommend others who have bricked their phones and trying to flash it holding the record, and camera button while phone is off, plug it in the usb. As soon as i did that, Vista picked it up as a mobile device. the bootloader ( the screen sucks! what a dreadful combination of colors!) also shows a usb sign at the bottom. I hope this info helps those who bricked/killed their phone and were finding it hard to re-flash it. As it is mentioned in some thread... if wm6 flashing fails, u have to revert back to stock rom WM5 (cingular rom for cingular phone, i-mate rom for i-mate, etc) and then re-flash with WM6. I wonder if rom update utilities work when in bootloader connected to pc.

I did check over onto the i-mate site and found a file 'Arabic...' something. it didn't mention it as a rom so i'm hoping they are the software packages that come with the default middleast rom. You might have heard of 'Portableapps' on PCs. They are little beauties. Because the original windows and windows mobile are linked closely.. i might wonder if there could be a way to port those ( or even create your own) onto windows mobile. I know how to make portableapps so if you need any info, i think i could help unless someone knows better.

Thanks for the file Erofich. Unfortunately, I've just been caught up with studies and hence will not be able to work on modding my i-mate until i get some free time. however, i'm still going to try to work on an 'Ultimate WM6 for Startrek Guide'.
Its just that its better for end-users because some of the information is scattered around and 'some' of the instructions are a bit hard to follow (no offense to anyone). If anyone has any concerns or is against my actions, please let me know.

You can translate some menu (in the post of WM6 by Eurofich you find how) but not all of them.
You can get the xT9 with spanish language with a cab you can find looking in that ROOM.

2. second link is specially for imate smartflip then i don't now what's your problem ( maybe don't install your new rom correctly )

I have a HTC TyTN in German, and I can make squad out of it cause I don't understand this language. (it was a gift btw)
Now I have gone trough the manuals and trough wiki but for a total beginner like my self a lot of this stuff is confusing. So here is my plead:
Can anyone put in a small manual how to convert this German speaking HTC TyTN in to nice and understandable English one
Now when I do the OK+POWER+Reset stuff this is what shows up on the screen:

The Phone Info on the other side shows this mambo jumbo:
ROM-version: 1.18.257.2
ROM-datum: 07/22/06
Funkempfangerversion: 1.03.03.10 (told U is in German)

ExtROM-version: 1.18.257.8003
Now keep in mind this is the only place that I have found that has this kind of info so go easy on me.

First of all you will want to Sim/CID unlock your phone.
That is here

Then flash HardSPL, to help make sure you dont brick your phone.

Now, you can flash yourself a custom rom, or a shipped rom.

Out of the cooked roms I like CRC's the best, I would go for 11.2 if you need 100% stability, or 12.8 normal if you don't mind a faster but "beta" rom, not that I have ever found his roms to be buggy.
PDACornerPro.V19's is also popular (Would recommend going for "RBSN" if you chose his)
And MRH's are more "loaded" roms cooked off CRC's.

Well this is exactly what I was looking for.
Just one more thing: Tell me what would be the most appropriate ROM, cause I just wanna change to English language, I'm not looking for anything extra!

I got a Nike form a friend. It has a original Dutch HTC rom on it, i think.
I want to upgrade it a little. I've looked through the forum but can't get figured out wat to do.
I want to backup the original ROM
I want to upgrade the radio
I need to hardspl
I want a WM 6.5 based Dutch ROM
Can someone point me to the right locations where i can find the appropriate files and instructions.

Hoi Hans, I'm gonna try to help you, but it's important for me to make sure which device you have, because there are a lot look a like's but it's just another phone, to make sure which device you own just take a look under your battery and tell me if you have a nike100 or another version.
The second thing I need to know, does your phone have a simlock.

Hola hans, any news on your plans? I just "revived" my old nike today after beeing in a drawer for years, and I must say, it´s been a full success and it only took me less than an hour to do so. Now I even have WinMo 6.5.x and "sense-like" tabs
