New email --> insert --> picture always goes to wrong folder (DCD 3.2) - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

So I have loaded DCD's 3.2 rom, and everything is working pretty well...
The one thing that kinda sucks (and is most likely just a quick tweak somewhere) is that even though I've set the camera to store images on the sd card, when I go to do a new email and insert a picture, I have to browse all over to get to the default folder on the sd card under my docs, my pictures... otherwise it defaults to teh devices my pictures, and when you choose storage card it then tries to go to the dcim folder.
Any fix for this? I have a feeling its a registry tweak, but none of the changes I've attempted have done anything :S
Thanks for the great work DCD

Seems like deleting the folder and then using the pictures and videos app allowed me to at least have it remember the my pictures location when I click storage card...
however, it still tries to use the my pictures folder on the device rather than storage card by default when you first go to insert --> picture... so still looking for a way to have it default to search the storage card first...

[Q] Photo Storage - Only Want SD

When taking photos & video - there is no consistency with where the images are stored - some store on the SD and some on the phone. Is there a setting somewhere that I can set to always default to saveing on the SD card? I haev looked but cannot find such a feature. Just makes it a pain when I have to go searching for a pic I have taken.

I am new to hd2 and I have the same issue. In my TP2, I had used advanced config to select my pictures vs DCIM in the camera setting and then in locations, I had selected storage card\my documents for my doc storage and never had a problem.
With the HD2, there is an extra setting available in the camera apps to select storage, either phone or sd card. If I pick card, it sends pics to the DCIM. If I select phone storage, it puts them in the my docs on the phone.
I just want them to go to my pics under my docs on the storage card.
Ideas?

[Q] Unable to capture photo

Hi really need help on this one, i was having problem with the sd card and was unable to capture photo or video unless i used the phone memory to save, so browsed and found a thread saying to delete the DCIM folder which allowed me to actually take pictures and record but doesnt save to phone or storage card
I seem to solve 1 problem then another pops up please help as i got this phone for the quality of photos and video it gives you.
format the sd card and ensure you are saving to it and not the phone
Hi
Start up the camera, go to settings on the camera start up screen. (Thats the one that looks like a small gear wheel/Cog.(Touch it) It will now show the menu. at the bottom left you should see a storage icon that looks like a sd card. If its showing a phone, then touch it until it changes to the sd card. Now all your photos will go to the sd card.
Regs Russ
ive done all the things mentioned, when i use the phone storage it works fine then when i switch to storage card the camera and video dont work i just get a message saying unable to capture photo or video. could it be the sd card thats at fault.
Use the attached tool to check for corrupt cards. Just unzip to your desktop and read the readme file

thanx will try it now

pictures not showing up in sense album

I've started moving over to QuickPic but if i use this program to edit, move or copy to another file (i.e. DCIM) then sense album just won't see it. Not really a big problem until i want to send it as a MMS because messages uses sense album to choose the image.
Even if i restart the phone or even delete the cache, sometimes the images just never show up.
The pictures are there, nothing wrong with the images, my file manager sees them no problem.
Another thing, HTC album widget doesn't see the changes if I use Quickpic to make any chages, i.e. cropping.
Is it just me? Any help?
cheers, john.

Im not too sure but i think it has something to do with the phones built in "HTC Storage" and your external sd card. I think the phone is looking at one of the storages and not the other. What i did was completely ditch my 32gb sd card since i dont even use it much and use the phones internal 16gb storage instead. But with all the partitions or whatever i get like only 10gigs back

Do you use Quickpic? Or another photo editing software?

Pics on SD card all TINY

Ok so tonight, I decided to clean up my SD card. I had noticed that some how I had 1500 pics on my internal SD card, SO I moved them over to my external one and cleaned everything up a bit, combining all the folders. Now when I go into my phone and SD card, all the pics are TINY in size. LIke if the pic before was the size of the screen, now its 1x1 inch. I use wallpaper wizzadrii to set my wallpapers and its setting them all for TINY as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
you probably copied the thumbnails
I did now what?

If you deleted the actual pictures and are just now stuck with the thumbnails try an app called DiskDigger. It'll find your deleted photos if it was just recently done. It won't go as far back as a PC would. But give it a shot. Oh yea, must be rooted for it I believe.

I wouldn't use an android app, I'd connect the phone to a PC, mount it, then use Recuva to scan it.

going to try that now.
Also, I just realized that all the pics were on my internal storage. I know I never set it up that way. I have always put them on my SD card. For future reference, how do i get everything to be automatically saved to the external SD card?
You mentioned that you cleaned up the images by copying them from your internal SD to your external one - if what you're trying doesn't work, do you remember which folder the files came from? You can just move them back but I have a sinking feeling that you're going to go to your Gallery and when you review your images, you'll see a bunch of white boxes with and 'x' inside which indicates that you're missing the image that was where it was supposed to be when the Gallery accessed your photos. I did something similar a while ago, trying to consolidate photos into a folder on my SD and when I moved the files, I had the white boxes I mentioned. The fastest way to fix the issue is to move ALL images off your SD, go to Gallery, erase ALL, then mount the SD card onto the PC and move images back onto the SD, go to Gallery, and let the thumbnails regenerate.
It's a pain but if you do this once, you'll not do it by accident again. Android does something similar to Apple's iTunes. You can have files in several folders and the program will 'find them' for you but if you move them, you can cause yourself quite a headache.
Good luck!

The app I posted works fine, I've used it before. It looks for only photos whole recuva will find any file ever...
For setting it to external SD that's an option in the camera
Another program you can try is testdisk. It's free and it has recovered everything I've ever needed and then some. I've accessed files on a drive that both windows and OS X told me was not formatted. Got all 450gb off of it and could also retrieve tons of deleted files. It's a computer app, not a phone app.

[Q] Stock Apps not recognizing external SD card (sort of)

Long story short: Just got my M8 so it is 100% stock, no mods, nothing. I copied my pictures and music from my M7 to an SD card and popped it in the M8. Go to load up the HTC music app, nothing. Go to Google Play music, still nothing. Go to Gallery, even more nothing.
The weird part is that ES File Explorer recognizes and can read the SD card just fine (Not write but I know that's a whole separate ball game), the storage section in settings reports everything correctly. I can even take a picture and move that to the external SD card using the Gallery app and it'll come up just fine, but I then tried moving one of my old pictures I had taken on my M7 into the same folder as the lone picture I took with the M8 and nada, only the new picture shows up. Any particular step I'm missing here?
Found the problem, I'll post the solution here just in case anyone else has the same issue (doubt it but still):
I somehow managed to have a ".nomedia" file in the root of my SD card. Deleting it fixed everything.
