Hi,
my prophet is fubar, so I am going to reflash and set up from scratch. If there is a new clean ROM like Korand due in a couple of days I would wait. Otherwise I will flash the latest clean I can find.

is it important to make a new thread???

Hello, I am new and not sure if this is the best place to post, but I just ordered an AT&T 8525, and once it arrives the first thing I plan to do is upgrade to WM6.0. But, I want to get rid of everything that AT&T put on there (logos, apps etc) and start with (what I imagine would be) the HTC version of the software.
I looked through the Wiki and can find dozens of versions, can someone point me to the right (and best/most stable) one that I need to clear off all the AT&T crap? Thanks.
the first and easiest way to clear off the at&t crap is to do a soft reset the moment the device tries to to the cusomization.
if you want to clear the at&t crap by installing a cooked rom, then please look in the Hermes WM6 forums. FYI there's is no "the best" choice when it comes to choosing a rom as there are so many choices and a lot of it comes down to personal preferences. good luck, welcome to the forums, and enjoy your new device
As XtreMe_G said, but if you want a stable rom as a starting block ( I flashed a Heap of roms before choosing which one I liked best) I would suggest TNT SE. It is pretty stable and has a heap of extras if you like that sort of thing. Ran pretty quick and was decent for me. If you want speed then you require a Lite rom. Pandora, and Shamanix are good for these but then so are Schapps & pays. As was stated above, it all comes down to personal preference. Whats good for me might be of no use to you. Experiment, But please read the wiki on the how to flash first. thats the single most important thing you can do. Suggest installing Olipro V7. BEFORE upgrading os as this helps if anything does go wrong. But as I said READ, READ, and then READ some more. Happy Upgrading And welcome to the community...
Thanks both, I have been reading and reading the Wiki plus various other posts. I have flashed a couple previous phones (Motorola V500, Samsung Blackjack) so have a little experience. Looking forward to upgrading the hermes when it arrives. I have already downloaded Schapps 4.31 but will also look into the TNT SE and installing Olipro V7 (I am guessing this is to do with Hard-SPL?).
thanks again.
Ello all,
I recently came by a Cingular 8125, which infortunately turned out to be a G4.
It already has HardSPL and the TNT WM6.1 rom. But said current rom... has alot of issues as is and needs to be wiped clean anyway.
So I was looking through the various roms... And I'm not really sure which are G4-okay or not. I understand that you cannot alter the boot loader...
Sheesh this is an awesome phone, especially when its major issue just required a quick reassembly of it ^.^
Hello friend....you can use most any of the cooked ROMs, seeing as MOST(Not all) are G4 safe. The best thing todo is READ the ROM threads, and ASK QUESTIONS if you are not sure! I cannot stress this enough, dont EVER continue with something that you are unsure of! But at any rate, the newest version of the TNT WM 6.1 is pretty stable, its what I use myself, that and also we have the ROM from the HTC Touch Diamond ported to the Wizard, witch is also pretty damn cool. But most of all, follow these instructions!
1=READ!!
2=READ!!!
3=READ!!!!
4=ASK QUESTIONS IF UNSURE!!!
5=FLASH!!!
6=????
7=PROFIT!!!
So I have had a Star Trek for awhile, and have been very lax in updating the ROM. I'm still on the original Cingular ROM that came with the phone -- 2.4.502.0.
So looking around here I'm very interested in updating the ROM of the phone. Have been actively reading up on different ROMs available -- first I was thinking of just flashing up to the current Cingular ROM available from HTC, but then thought, why not go for somethng REALLY good and try to upgrade to WM6.1.
So I've been reading up on both Pampooh's ROM (20282.1.3.6) and Erofich's (5.2.19949) and am not sure which way to go.
Things that appeal -- new OS, overclocking the CPU for speed, xT9 updates, etc. Current ROM is running fine, albeit a little sluggish.
So in prep I'm ready to do the application unlock, then need to decide which ROM will do the trick. Any suggestions between the two ROMs?
Any other tips before I take the plunge? Thanks in advance!
try both and see which one u like most, but definitely update your rom......the general rule.......any custom rom > stock rom
welcome to xda-dev
Well had some worries that I had bricked the phone but all is well -- the new NeORose build just took an inordinately long time to boot up.
Thanks -- the new ROM is much better than the old WM5.0 ROM.
Howdy All,
I had a look for a similair thread but couldnt find one.
I bought my wife a HD2 from MobiCity 6 months back... She straight away was having issues with the phone being slow and going through battery... So she joined up to here and we flashed her phone with a new radio and a few different ROMs until she settled on the "Energy" Rom.
Now she's having issues with it still...
I read that HTC had released a new ROM (http://www.mobilityminded.com/9951/htc-hd2-gets-rom-update-3-14-on-windows-phone-7-launch-day) and it seems like they may have finally fixed some of the initial issues.
So I've downloaded the ROM, and tonight we'll change it over.
But first I'm unsure if the changes we've already made will affect the genuine ROM going on... I got the Rom from (http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1043&news_id=782).
Does the Radio Version affect it?
Sorry for the noob questions, im very new to this.
P.S. great site... keep up the good work...
-Sam
The only thing you need to do sir is removing your HSPL.
after this you can install the latest stock ROM 3.14, this will brings automatic your radio version to 2.15.50.14
Awesome... was worried it was going to be a drama....
wait... is removing the HSPL hard?

No sir it isn't hard.
Use HSPL2_RUN.exe, run it and select spl version 1.66 that's it.
Hi Guys,
I would like to ask you a question.
I just got the lastest updated from viewsonic for my gtbab. This upgrade includes some improvements such as : support for mouse and keyboard usb,french and spanish language , full flash support...
So at this point.. I am wondering...is still a good idea to install a custom rom?
If so, could you please point out what real advantages I can get once installed a custom rom?
It's important for me if it is worth to do it. So I need your real expertise in the subject.
Thanks
ralex76,
It really just depends on what meets your needs.
The current stock ROM -- 1.2.4349 -- is way improved from the old software we got
back last November. But it still does not have Market and some of the little fixes
the devs have come up with here.
I would note that roebeet already has posted that he will not be too long in posting
a new version of his TwoTapsX alternate ROM based on the new update. I am sure
he will build Market and fixes into it just like he has all his ROMs in the past (though
I can't speak for him). So that will make it a pretty close alternative to stock with
everything in it.
Then, there's Vegan, Gingerbread, Calkulin and a whole host of other ROMs with a
wide variety of looks and features.
The choice is yours based on (1) what you like and want, and (2) how much risk
to you want to take in learning to flash ROMs (and if needed troubleshoot, etc.)
I tell all new folks to go slow, read hugely here, notice what mistakes everyone
else is making so you don't make them yourself -- and have fun!!!

I think you just need to search around and look at the benefits of each ROM and compare it to your tablet. We don't know how and for what you are using your tab, so it is up to you if a ROM is more suitable for your situaion.
I think if you are fine with the stock ROM and don't see anything that you would want differently, don't bother flashing something else.
Also, make sure to look at Roebeets post regarding the newest OTA update!
