Can I use a T-Mobile sim card in a 3125 (star trek)? I have a nokia phone with T-Mobile but it's pretty crappy. I have a nice star trek phone that I kept from my last job because it was actually two broken star trek phones that I combined working parts (screen) to make it work. Well I would like to use this phone with my T-Mobile sim card but I do not know the unlock code.
I see there is a page called imei-check I think that will supposidly send me files to unlock it, but only after paying them $40.25 USD. The exchange rates to the UK currency are more than 2:1 right now, so I'd rather find a program to do it for free. I used to use AT&T 8525 and Siemens SX66's and it was a piece of cake to unlock them. All it was was an executable file copied to the device and then ran under the device. Why is the 3125 so hard that no one has been able to figure out how to unlock this device? I would of thought an 8525 would be harder to figure out as it's more complicated and more powerful. Google searches yield everything for CID unlocking and Application unlocking, which is not a problem as I'm running WM 6.1 firmware on this device.
So is SIM unlocking really that difficult? Why is this one of the few devices that I am struggling to find SIM unlocking programs? Is it just not a popular device? Any route I can go? Thanks for your help.
You can SIM unlock your device for a money. There is no free service.

Ok actually I called AT&T and they gave me the unlock code after knowing the original phone number and IMEI number.

Anyone know how I can unlock my SIM on my G4 8125?
hi friend you need lockwiz v3.0 i dont remember as well witch version is but also is for charmer and prophet
enjoy it
Where can I find this? And is it possible to brick a device trying to SIM unlock?
its a joke you will find here in the xda forum or the wiki also this program only reads the sim code unlock no faluire or brick device if you intent a cid unlock with a g3 unlocker you had a 10-35% of brick your phone
My CID is already unlocked on My G4 8125.... Had to pay 30 something bucks to do it though.. now I just wanna unlock the SIM... I found Lokiwiz here on the forums.. and I'm gunna attempt it as soon as someone comes over my house with a non-cingular phone with a sim card.. lol
30!?!?!?! ghehe ohw srry that's pretty ****** up when you can do it easy lie yourself
If Cingular is your carrier and you have been their customer for a while you can call them up and request a SIM unlock code. They are obligated to give you one.
you had all reason if you re a cingular custumer yo can speak with they to get the sim code in fact the cid unlock in a g4 cost 30 bucks - 20 euros for a g3 is free
I called Cingular.. and they gave me a SIM unlock code, but they said there was some other code I forget what they called it that they could only give me if I met certain criteria, like contract is up, purchased phone at full retail or are travelling out of the country for an extended period of time...
Where do I input the code they gave me? Just incase what they were referring to was something totally different then unlocking the SIM
You'll have to find a non-cingular SIM card and put it in your phone. When you turn it back on, it'll ask for the unlock code.
Im gunna have to get one of my buddies over here so I can try it.. lol
As mentioned earlier, find someone with a T-Mobile SIM card. Thats the easiest way to test. They (Att/Cingular) should have provided you with unlocking instructions.
btw after all how u do the sim unlock ???
Hello all.
This is my first post on this forum so forgive me for being a noob! I have searched this forum and the web, but couldn't find help for my prediciment so, here goes.
I've got an O2 3G SIM. I originally got the SIM & contract with an ORBIT2. I lost the bloody ORBIT2! No insurance
So I bought a standard T-Mobile AMEO from a geezer on ebay. Happy Days!
I had the IMEI unlocked
I ran AthenaUnlocker.exe and followed the instructions for this
I downloaded AP DUAL 3.0 ROM with add-ins
I followed the instructions to upgrade the ROM
I got O2 to unlock my SIM
All was good when I rebooted. The screen looked good, I had all 4 bars of GSM connectivity showing, and I had a G next to it. I ran the O2 software to configure the device and rebooted.
It all went tits up when I tried to make a call. Nothing, no error or anything, just wouldn't ring.
Then I tried to connect to internet and got error message;
"Answering modem disconnected" then notification;
"Problem connecting to GPRS network"
1. Is this me putting in the wrong settings?
2. Is the AMEO just incompatible with anything other than T-Mobile?
3. Is my O2 SIM not behaving?
4. Am I obsessed with numbered lists?
Hope someone can help! Any advice would be much appreciated
Not sure what you mean...
1. I had the IMEI unlocked -IMEIs are not locked - they can be blocked if the device has been stolen but then they can't be unblocked - what do you mean? How did you do this?
5. I got O2 to unlock my SIM - as per 1 above, a SIM can't be locked - what do you mean?
Did you try the SIM bedor upgrading the ROM? It should have worked as T-Mobile don't lock their phones.
Does the SI< work in any other phone?
Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I don't know the correct terminology. I've got to admit I know next to nothing about phones!
1. I got the SIM and the phone at the same time. When I put the SIM in the phone it said SimLock and had a code window to enter a code. I thought this was the SIM code, so entered this, but it kept saying 'wrong code'. I then searched the internet and found www.deblocage-htc.com. I gave them my IMEI number, they sent me the code that opened the phone up.
5. O2 sent me the SIM as a replacement for my lost SIM. They put a lock on the SIM when I reported it lost.
I wasn't aware that T-Mobile didn't lock the phone! I wouldn't have bothered to change the ROM. The ROM does look good though, so I'd be happy to keep it, if I could get it to work.
I didn't try it before I installed the AP DUAL 3.0 ROM. Wish I had now. Do you think the ROM is to blame? I've search the web for a couple of days now and not found a similar case.
I'm gonna get my wifes old orange phone unlocked to try the SIM in that.
If it said SimLock then it was locked - you didn't pay to unlock it though, did you? It sounds like a problem with the unlocker.
download the unlocker from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315831 and run all three steps and let us know if it works.
Then demand your money back from the idiots you paid...
So are you saying that i've probably bought a stolen phone? I haven't bought a stolen phone, I've got evidence to support this. I know the email address of the guy on ebay. he's had the account for a few years, paypal account etc. Although it was simlocked I could still see the files on the phone. The guy had left his CV on there with his email address etc. So it was his phone.
Anyway, yes I did pay to unlock it. Was that stupid? I used the unlocking software after I unsimlocked it!
I've got it working now anyway, it was O2 that hadn't lifted the bar on the sim.

Hello everyone..i know this has probably been answered but i cannot seem to find it...I have a friend that has gotten a G4 8125 that has a cingular sim card...she wants to make it so that it can go to Tmoble...but tmoble says that the "phone" has to be unlocked..i Looked into the lockiwiz program but it says you need the other sim card..tmoble wont give them a new sim card..so how do i unlock the "phone" so that they can bring it to tmobile. If i do the Hard SPL without flashing the rom and keep it...will it seem to be unlocked when they bring it to them
As far as I have been able to discern, the only way to SIM unlock a G4 Wizard is to go here:
http://imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php
It will cost you 20 British Pounds that you can pay by paypal.

If you're an AT&T customer, just call them and tell them you're planning on traveling, and want to use foreign pay-as-you-go SIMs while abroad. They'll talk you through the SIM unlock on the phone.
Otherwise, you are right, you will need a different SIM to use Lokiwiz. You could buy a cheap pay-as-you-go card from TMobile, I believe. Just use the minutes up, or sell the card on Craigslist when you're done with your SIM-unlock.
Do not do HardSPL for this, it has nothing to do with your issue. That's only for flashing the ROM, not for unlocking the SIM.
Hello
In the last 10 minutes i unlocked a Cingular 8125 G4 with Lokiwiz03a. Lokiwiz03 give you an unlock code to your phone. You only need a NO Cingular sim card but i think you can got from a friend or another one.
Good luck.

I'm using a Rebel Sim II in my Orange locked Hero, and it's working perfectly. I also flashed it with a Generic firmware, instead of the orange one.
@dobbs2010
well i was looking for a more software oriented solution. rebel SIMs are kinds flimsy and i tend to lose them
i was reading about a CID-unlock but that requires a fair bit of tinkering in the workshop and although i am not averse to the whole idea i would rather rty something simpleer if i have the choice. i heard the t-mobile one isnt locked and can be unlocked with a code.

The T-Mobile Hero does not seem to have the problem with respect to getting an unlock code. However, I'd imagine we'll be seeing quite a few T-Mobile Hero's turning up on Ebay with the T-Mobile 2.73 update already installed, which means you won't be able to root the device or flash a custom ROM (yet!), so I'd be very careful before getting a TMo Hero right now.

Dave
@foxmeister
so i am assuming the 2.73.xxx android update is responsible for patching holes in code that allowed sim unlocks in the earlier heros. would that be true?
so is there any way i can unlock a new hero on 2.73.xx now? anyone?
No, the issues with the un-rootable 2.73 ROMs and Orange SIM unlocks are completely separate. There were problems unlocking Orange codes prior to the latest update.
As I understand it, you have two options at present.
1. Contact Orange and ask for the unlock code, as they seem to be the only people able to supply it.
2. Use a Rebel SIM.
Regards,
Dave
@foxmeister
i was afraid you would say that. We can safely say that i cannot ask orange for the codes. and the rebel SIM i would have to explore more. Is there maybe a way to SIM unlock these babies in the near future? is someone working on it? I am a recent iPhone convert so I am used to having this warm feeling inside that someone somewhere is always working on a jailbreak
There must be a way!!!
There probably is - it just isn't known yet!
ferraripassion is actively looking into the issue (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570089)

Hi people, Ive searched on this but can only find people talking about unlock codes and wondered if it was possible yet to unlock HD2 for free like you can on the HD1?
Ive just purchased a T-Mobile HD2 on ebay that is 2 months old and was wondering if we cant unlcok via free method is it possible to unlock my phone via code as ive noticed various people having problem with T-Mobile 2010 models.
Thnx in advance.
Free sim unlock is not available on HD2 yet.
Free unlock is normally only possible on old or obsolete phones.
For now, your best bet is take your phone to a shop that does unlocking.
I would not trust most online unlock firms for newish model of phone.

Unlock threads talking about codes, are mostly to change from manufacturers ROM.
Thnx for reply but think I will be trying with a company on ebay who do unlocking I explained it was only 2 months old and they said it wont be a problem.
If it is I will try the "Rebel" Sim card which supposedly unlocks ALL htc devices without codes etc. You simply slot it in underneath your sim and it allows you to use it.
