What SMS /Text Message programs do you guys use?
So far I have tried Sms-Chat.I like the interface just just feel it needs more.

Default one that comes with DCD/WM61 works good enough for me... Threaded and everything. Running the Arcsoft CAB in the other thread for VZW and I get picture messages again.
Life is Sweet.

i use cody's threaded sms its a good program tat does wat i need it to do and it is seamlessly integrated with regular sms so no additional programs to run. it keeps me happy

I use pocketcm for contacts and sms

Built-in
WM6.1's built in sms is fine for me.

SMS Chat. loves it

I use the one with WM 6.1... works perfectly for me, threaded and everything...
Before that I used PocketCM... one of the best free apps that I have found for WM devices... easy to use, customizable, themable, and free!!!

Palringo is a nice application as well.

Recommended threaded SMS replacement for Mogul?

I am ok with the threaded SMS included in dcd's unofficial roms but I have read that many people prefer the Treo SMS application or some other... what are the best SMS applications available for the Mogul, free or paid for?

Although you won't find a CAB file on here for the Treo threaded SMS application (it was ripped from a Treo 750), you can find it by searching google for it. There are other threaded SMS programs that are available though that you can get a CAB for, such as this one:
PocketCM Contacts & Keyboard
Def can't deal with PocketCM is pissed me off..
Check the 6800 section of the wmexperts.com forums.

Sweet thanks. I installed that cab
One thing I'm concerned about is keeping my old SMSs. I loaded one threaded SMS program and it used a different database to store SMS, so I couldn't see my old ones. However, they were still there and once I uninstalled it I could see them again. Does anyone know if any of these use the same database as the default app?
I would like to get P-SMS running in 6.1... I loved it... The one over at WMExperts.com is pretty good though.
Edit:
Nevermind... just got it going...
which one out of the two in the zip file is recommended? I don't want to reassign my email button, but where is there an sms button?
okay, i installed hte sms softkey application, however, wehn I try to send a msg i get the "you're not provisioned to send multimedia messages, message not sent".
any ideas
sending double text
I have Cody threaded sms and people are telling me that I'm sending a message 2-4 times. Does anybody else have this problem?
I uninstalled, soft reset, and reinstalled. But I don't think that fixed the problem

Its still doubling but i think its because when i uninstalled the cody threaded sms there waqs still some files left in my phone. Because when installed the shogun all my old sms from cody was there.

6.0 compared to 6.1?

Ok so I install the latest Sprint rom on my Mogul. It works perfectly. I dont use HTC today plugs so I have no memory leaks. After 11 hours I still have 20mb of memory left. The phone runs stable. No freezes. I use Spb mods for all my other needs and sirius radio, tcmp, flash bundle, opera mini for all my apps and needs. I run Slingbox and Orb to connect to my home PC media. I have zero problems with the phone so far.
The reason for my post is I was wondering what the benifit to using 6.1 would be. I dont have memory problems. All of the menues work the way I need them ect.. As far as I can tell 6.1 boasts better memory management? I realy cant find any claims to fame on the MS sites for it.
Any info is a big help ty much!
If you use SMS a lot, the new threaded SMS client is MUCH better in 6.1
Question about the threaded SMS. If I backup my sms and load it back in after loading DCD's rom, will it still be there with the new SMS program? Basically, I want to keep my SMSs just like I keep my emails. Does the SMS program use the same database to store them? Will I be able to view the old ones in threaded style? Also, does it distiguish between conversations or does it just thread all the sms between you and said individual?
Also, here's one thing I found talking about 6.1 advantages.

The only negative I've found is that WM 6.1's PIE seems to take quite a bit longer to "render" webpages.

After reading those ppl's comments, I clearly realize that most people are oblivious of the capabilities of WM phones. Also, the 2nd guy says he wishes he could get WM 6.1 on his XV6800. I want to tell him that he can, but that would make me more of a dork.
hahah!! i thought the same thing about that guy and his 6800! hahahaha

Yes, if you use PIM Backup to backup your SMS, when restored with WM6.1, it will restore it as threaded. It distinguishes the conversations. It will restore email like normal.

It does not distinguish the conversations in the way that Poke_N_PDA asked. Every interaction between me and my brother, for example, gets put into the same thread. We might not send messages for a week, but then once we do, it creates the messages in the same thread as our previous messages. You end up having a single thread for each contact you correspond with by text message.

I don't think I have a problem with that. It would be nice to be able to divide it yourself and start new conversations, but I can live without it.
Also, can you still view and look through messages individually like you could in 6.0? It would be really nice if they just set it up as a view option to where you could select different styles.

Has anyone made a SMS Application?

I am looking for a "iphone like" messaging software. I like the sms built into PocketCM, but don’t like the rest of the program. Any suggestions?
I have tried:
Sms Chat - would use it if you could get skins for it
PocketCm - the sms is great but you have to access the whole program to use it. And you also cannot set it to be the default sms.

i use sms chat, why would you want skins for it? as long as it's functional thats the main thing.. adding skins would uneccessarily make the program bulky and slow it down.

I agree. I use sms-chat & love it just the way it is.....
I just wish I could receive MMS pics within the app, but none of them do that.....

SMS Tweaker
I use SMS Tweaker and like it a lot. It even lets you set a background pic to your messages when not in Threaded Mode.

Thanks for mentioning SMS Chat, just tried it and love it. I've been looking for something similar to this....

[Q] What sms and dialer app do you guys use?

Hi!
I find the default sms app a bit lacking in features, it's not very nice/pretty and it's slow. I've tried handcent and go sms pro, and they're OK but I feel they're also a bit slow and sluggish. So what do you guys use?
And hm, the dialer, why oh why can't they implement it like for example the HTC Sense one, where you can dial the "letters" of a contact with the dial-pad and it'll find it? Like 2 = abc, 3 = def, etc... Anyone know a better one for SE?
Handcent was always really quick for me until recently.. about a month ago maybe? (was using it for ages on my X10..) Would like to know if anyone can suggest an alternative to that..
I used superdial for a while, but it's not being supported now as they're doing a complete re-write.. however, dialer one looks pretty good.
I am using Handcent SMS although it seems slow & sluggish now, was quick on X10i. I have tried Go SMS Pro also, but Go SMS is way too slow & sluggish on ARC So i have to live with Handcent... As i am a SMS-person, i need a fast SMS app I will try Chomp SMS within days...
I use stick dialer
For Calls, I recommend Dialer One. It has Speed dial (type numbers for letters), and it's customizable. For SMS, i'm still with the default one.
For dialing I'm using TouchPal Smart Dialer:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cootek.smartdialer
For sms I'm using Handcent SMS: ( not sluggish at all for me )
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms
for sms ... go sms pro ... but i didnt use the handcent to compare so ill try it and tell ya
for dail . default becuz i feel the other is complicated .. but im gona try again hehe
ARC of NOAh
I have purchaised donate version of Chomp SMS today.. Using it & it is quciker & faster than handcent & Go sms pro so far, but need more testing
Touchpal dialer and go sms pro. Both do the job good for me.
Sent from my Arc using Tapatalk
i used to use dialerone but have recently switched to youlu which loads much faster. the latest version is integrated with sms. i prefer to use a separate sms app (go sms pro by the way) so i downloaded v1.5 from the internet which was the latest version before the sms function was added.
I am using RocketDial Pro - cool dialer!!
I have tried pair GO SMS + GO Contacts, but it had not good localization, & after RocketDial found i`ve delete them & now use standart app for SMS.
I've always been a massive fan of handcent SMS, havent gotten around to installing it on my arc yet, but if it's really laggy i might give one of the others a go.
Was happily using diallerone on my previous phone. However there was a recent update of the app and it suddenly started to request *far* too many permissions from the phone for a simple dialler app, so i wont be installing it on my arc.

I have no lag at all with Handcent, so I'd suggest you try it if you use to use it. It can always be uninstalled if it's bad for you.
I was really liking the stock sms app. Even liked it on my x10. But i just realized that the arc's messaging app doesn't have the search function.
I used to use it all the time. Anyone got any other suggestions. I want it to be just like the arcs standard app but with search.

power search is great.. and you'll be able to search calendar and pretty much anything else!
i use the GO products from the DEV Team,
i like go sms pro, and also uss go contacts and go dialer,
i was using go launcher ex on my HTC desire before, but right now i stayed with the SE ARC's normal home launcher
I use Go Dialer and handsent for sms,,
Never sluggish for me,,,,,,
Go SMS is definitely much better than the stock app
Are any of the various SMS apps mentioned here better suited to landscape usage?
The stock one is ok but when viewing previous messages the bar along the top of the screen with the contact information in it takes up a lot of room - the picture etc could easily be shifted to one side instead.
And when composing a message, the send button is hidden behind the keyboard, with the pointless 'add media' button above it.
If anyone knows of a messaging app that addresses both of these issues, I'd be interested to hear.
I will be trying Chomp, Go SMS and Handcent soon anyway but I'd still appreciate the feedback.
I use chomp SMS and dialer2. Chomp is similar to iPhone with the conversation bubbles, it comes with several themes or you can create your own...its very customizable. I highly recomend chomp. Dialer2 is ok. It is all black with white text and numbers. It doesn't have many features but it can search your contacts using the t9 number pad like sense.

Is there a way of disabling the default notification when using another sms app? when I installed both Go and Handcent I get two notifications for each sms.

Can somebody please recommend a non-threaded/inbox SMS app that works on Marshmallow?

I have been using an old GO SMS version up to now, being very careful not to update it since they have removed the one feature I kept it for, the inbox. I sincerely hate the threaded stuff, I have hated it since it first came in Windows Mobile, and then on the HD2 and up. Pansi was great, but didn't work anymore because updating stopped. I have no interest at all browsing a box where I see the messages I have sendt, I want it to be like a mail program, not a social media thing (I don't even have Facebook or other social media...). So is there a non-threaded/unthreaded/inbox style SMS app out there? I have spent an hour on Play to find it, but failed.
I've used about every SMS app that's out there and I don't recall this being an option. Lemme just clarify though as it seems like an odd request to me (no offense - not odd bad, just odd different). You want an SMS app that only shows their messages to you, but not yours to them? If that's so, the only half assed work around I could think of would be one that has the ability to theme all components of the message and make the out going messages blend in to the background.
So you haven't been around very long, then? That was the only way until around 2008 for smartphones, when Windows Mobile 6 came with threaded messages. Until now there's always been apps that supports it. Basically I want an SMS app that doesn't use threaded messaging, so I can go into an inbox and see the messages I have received, not the one I have sendt, yes. But blending in doesn't help, the main thing isn't the separate "conversations", it's the separate inbox where I only see the text of messages I have received, nothing else. So just like the inbox of MS Office Outlook, if that helps. Or like K9 mail for Android, if that tells you more. I just don't see why what's widely considered the efficient way to do things in mail is so different in SMS. Almost all mail programs has one inbox and one sendt box.
