Cannot execute the remote communication program.
Please make sure that the USB/Serial cable is properly conected.
active sync is working and syncing data fine what im i doing wrong?
p.s. i even tried to go back to the "special" rom but get same responce.

iphone
hey thanks for all the help so far! i've got 2003 loaded and want to mod it to look like iphone now is there a good way of doing this or should i continue to put to geather my own from parts of others work?
do a search for iphone skins in the forum there are tons!
and such skins are not taylor'd for specielt devices as a rule
most programs made for windows mobile work for all devices
better mods
i hate to be a bother but the best most complete iphone mods need wm5 or higher! is there a way to get this old wallaby up to wm5?
or should i just keep hacking togeather my own?
P.S. Thanks for all the help you guys are great!
esn hex?? Cricket??
Hey guys I got a good rom in and got a mostly working iphone mod going too.
Now i would like to put this phone on my Cricket account and they say all they need is a esn # and hex#, do you know how i could get these #'s or do i need to flash the rom to something else to make it compatible with the cricket perpaid system?
it been a while guess this is not posable?
The wallaby is a gsm phone, cricket runs on cdma (sprints i believe, correct me if im wrong) they two networks are not compatible
please rom cookers have a look .can u guys cook rom for our device by this method .
if we got success in this matter no device will be bricked.
i m not so aware of technical terms .so i cant advice u guys!!

sorry for my bad english
i hope u will understand what i want to say
thanks!!!!!!!!
We are aware of this system, but right now, the system is under testing and not fully working. Rest assured when it becomes fully ready and if its possible to use it on gene, we will definately use it.
I said if it is possible, because, on gene, the concept of ULDR partition doesn't exists as far as i know. And ULDR partition is an integral component of that system. ULDR was most probably introduced in WM 6.1 but since Gene is a WM 6 device, it doesn't have the parition layout entry for ULDR. I could be wrong, this is just what my logic says based on my current information.
Also, it wont prevent bricking, as for the system to work, you will need to flash a ROM that supports the ULDR partition and the update system itself, before anything else. For that, you will need to patch your SPL as cooked ROMS will never have the HTC's digital signature. And as we know, patching the SPL is the reason behind all the bricking mess.
But anyways, thanks a lot for sharing
Double Post!
Will it ever work?
I have read the thread sometime back, but I have a few queries...
1. When you upgrade your OS from, say 98 to XP or XP to Vista, there always is a performance issue (compared to formatting your hard drive and doing a fresh install). And since our WinMo are nothing but hand held PCs (well you can say that, it got a processor, a hard disk (ROM), RAM), I guess that issue will crop up here as well.
2. What will happen if you have a 3rd party s/w which is incompatible with the new version of WM? Those of you who are in the PC tech field for a long time, you know after you have upgraded your OS, you can't use that software, neither can you uninstall it ...
So there will be issues, if I am not wrong.
But thats only my opinion. Most pple here are head and shoulders above me technically .
@Addicted: Well, Here are my opinions on your queries :
1. Yes, if the registry of the PPC is having some problems, then it will be an issue. Its a bigger issue in PCs as compared to PPCs coz in PCs the software are huge in size and they write thousands of entries to registry, modify system files etc. SO when an upgrade occurs, these changes either cause a corrupted registry, or in the second case when system files had been modified or replaced by a program, these files will be again updated by the OS and the program may not work, and if its a system level program with deep roots in system functionality, it will cause the system to slowdown at least or crash at worse.
These issues dont affect PPC much coz, for one, PPC software are usually small, they dont write much in registry (ms office on pc for example on PC writes a few thousand keys to registry while registering COM servers etc while MS Office on PPC just adds 10 or 20), and since the OS files are in ROM, they cant be touched by a software. They will remain overridden, if they have beem overridden as the updating process doesn't touch the phone memory.
2. Think again buddy, this is not applicable for WinMO. When you flash a ROM, you already change your OS version, so that will happen anyway, if you flash a ROM or you use the update system on an existing ROM.
I hope this would have cleared your doubts.

Actually you did not get me about the second issue, what I was trying to say is, if you flash your ROM, you incompatible program will be deleted (obviously) and thus free up space, but if you upgrade, your program will still take up space but will be of no use to you. Since most of the programs in Winmo are stored in Windows folder itself, it will be next to impossible for 99% users to identify the files to delete .
i already talk about image update in visual kitchen for gene thread, all this take lots time. da_g bepe and lots senior ppl are working on this its required new kitchen new rom format
as per i know it's required more rom space which not possible on gene rom
thanks !!!!!! guys for taking interest.
i like it because i have bricked my gene 4 times and got new motherboard.
but now my phone is not in under warranty so i cant take more risk.
i have done all methods correctly but unfortunately i was failed every time .
so after a year of trying i m still using wm5. so i want a new method without
zero risk for updating my rom.
Sorry buddy, but I dont think you can damage ur MB by wrong flash .
Hi allll...
ps : form the start to say i am not on drugs!! just come on!!!
all this info and all this reading and i am a IT guy and still don't get it at all!!
It is strange here we have 100 000 geeks, freaks and ...geek ,but no one knows how to explain in a cohesive way some presume u know it all ond the rest presume you should Google it..., why not make THE BEST EXPLAINED Thread from beggining to end whithout loosing sight what do we want to explain...
1) i am a newbie , which is why most of new people join the forum to find answers .
2) i want to switch my HD2 HTC from windows to android....
3) i have found 3000 you tube videos with retard that know only to click here and click there.. that is all fine if all goes well but if it doe sent(in my case it didn't)
i need to understand what all is happening under the hood to know what to fix...
s0... my questions are..simple and i hope someone ...can give all the answers and i will post it on my web page with pics to be one in all a good guide...
where to start...........
you need to have radio, wtf? you need to have "custom recovery installed"?
flash it from windows?(how do i flash it from windows if it is not going in to windows any more!!) ; NBH filess!!???CustomRUU (good for Radio and Splash) ?? what are you talking about!!!
i don't want to look any more for these terms... i want some who is a helpful person with sufficient knowledge and is a reasonable person to understand how frustrating this all is to a newbie to explain firs simple and then more details is it possible?
Android Flashing Guide ??
so explain like : when you get you phone it has windows in it's ROM and you have an SD card holding whatever...
and it is booting (starting the OS) from the ROM (it is usually this and this file)
for you to flash it you need to copy a file (is it leoimg.nbh ?) no idea...
to the ROM using a utility...
when you put that.... bla bla.... come on people!!!
What is radio what does it do? what is nbh file? where do i put and how ROM of my choice choice.
in my case i did the following :
Prerequisites
* HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL done ok....
* DFT MAGLDR Bootloader (DFT_LEO_MAGLDR111.rar ok so what it reboots and white screen?)
after that i did ..
* Radio that support 576 RAM i have some radio but i don't get it what is radio what are the differences of the version and wtf ram? (is it dependent on the SN , Model no or what) will t install even if it is not compatible with my hd2?
i did (Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14.rar)
so now i can get the boot loader menu but if you go to menu no 4 (usb)
DFT_Android (DAF.exe) does not recognize the usb so... am i stuck?
i notices in DFT_Android there are 2 files (system.img 255mb and boot.img ) i guess daf.exe does something with theem boot is copied to the boot partition? system image is copied to the ROM? can i somehow do that direly from the sd card?
what can i do now?
the only access i am getting is i guess provided to me by installing (HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL) that boot menu...
similarity and difference between
MAGLDR 111 is done very quikly (1sec) (both have a nbh file (ver. 111 is .5mb)
and
Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14.rar (nbh is 25 mb)
what is the... i don't get it..nothing
You will never flash android to wm and otherwise if you not kernel developer of HTC (as ex.).
Everything what you find and what you seen on youtube is Android runned from windows kernel, from SD card probably.
Natively is never happends.
Same **** you can find abou HD2 running WP7 instead wm6.5. Its also emulation!
To the OP. Have you looked in the HD2 specific forum? I'm sure you'll find all you need to know in there.
I know it's difficult trying to pice together all the disparate information that's out there but the best way to learn is to research, and then research some more

Absolute rubbish. Please refrain from posting if you don't know what you're talking about. Both Android and WP7 can replace WM6.5 on the phone, and ARE NOT emulated. Even with Android running from the SD card it IS NOT emulated!!!

The best way to learn is.... to learn! If you're spoon-fed all the answers then you'll just never stop asking. Just take your time reading, and don't rush into flashing anything until you're comfortable with what you're doing.
Well thanks to all (especial not heineken78 i hope you are not 33yrs and screwing people around here ) it is done but my questiions stand... i did it but like most people i dont quite get exactly.. what the hell did i do..
i did a lot of research come on guys i do you exepct me to write such a big thread whithout trying my best to figure it out myself?
im not trying to get spoon feb but come on...
all the instructions are like do this and that.. or radio is for buttons and .... but come on... i relay started this thread to point out that there is not one goood all in one explanation that will explain all aspects... and for any one to gather all this info and put everythin in cronolgical order that makes sense.. he would allready have to know a lot (or have some expirience with this) so i think it is imposible for a newbie to grasp all this from just looking at threads...so many of them and every thread going in some other direction
in any case thanke you all.
Hi all; I am new (here that is) but am fully capable microsoft certified & mvp coder.
Who is or want's to be or can help working on magldr compatible wp7 Kitchen and initial live-activated dwi rom?
1st goal here to make a kitchen then for hello_world just rebuild leo70 with live activated. Maybe get together here and setup proper dedicated irc. This may not be normal way to go about but I am not interested in social netiquette distractions. Just want to work on this and get it done. I have been using dumps (both my own and this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915978 ) along with jtag, and everything at my disposal.
I am doing this now with progress already made and have been working on this since prior to leo70 public release.
if interested or have news or info please post here or pm me- thanks.

Anyone use trivial ftp for FUU? anyone called these DLLs or used/moded these keys?
also: per Da_G partition layout and comments for wp7 hard spl: for FFU/RUU: is it serial or usb/kitl/ethernet?
I think injecting a certificate into leo70 and rebuilding dump up will then allow an ffu to be flashed; debugging this then leads to a lot; hspl, kitchen, new roms.

Where is all the action/info !?
I wish you all the luck to make this a wonderful experience. Hope people with relevant knowledge and skills join you for this cause.
first there need to be some tools to be made , like Reloc , rebuild imgfs , maybe a platformbuilder like bepe did.
after that you could make a kitchen.
Da_G have posted some interesting information in WP7 Development & Hacking section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649914
maybe this would also help to understand the structure of the (our DFT) rom.
Sounds good guys. Potentially integration of the android set up could be good bypassing the need to copy partitions across etc.
Wow ... good luck my friend

The imgfs rebuild with all modify is possible with tools here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685272
But a this time i don't find way to rebuild flash.store.bin (part04.bin = os.nb) content bin's:
LOGO
BLDR
NK
SLDR1
SLDR2
IMGFS
USER
...
Maybe the DFT wait to give the tool for community ??
;p
Good luck seems an excellent idea

Cool.
we can at least discuss it all here maybe: put all relevant info together.
I agree with u ceesheim, with tools required etc.
What about 7/CE platform builder though, modify, plus existing tools for imgfs etc? I was thinking also: for now anyway: just disassembling dwi.exe and figuring out all of the other partxx of this build which gets around non-wp7-spl. its a great hack and bears with it some interesting methods which may lead to other things.
I am really just exploring all options for now; any ideas, thoughts, discoveries? To be honest I am only reverse enginerring it all and have not yet tried to rebuild flash.store.bin (part04.bin = os.nb). Was going to try a few os.nb in there and just see response of magldr etc. Been lazy last few days lol.
But point is seems FUU/RUU and then Cotulla,DFT,Bepe' DWI give us two different paths to explore here!
What are exact known problems & current states on that: trying to do dump to (re)-build+flash?
I think that is where I will work - figure out other partxx.bin and magldr and disassemble dwi.exe to make flasher.
Thoughts?

I use them all depending on what I am doing. Da_G great: use all these tools 4 imgfs, xip, uldr, xph, etc and yeah - can get same for part04.nb to rie. Hope wp7 kitchen ppl can get together more so and get this done!

Ok.........
Anyone looked at rgu for serviceapp.exe or got anything on this? calls to DLL for Trivial FTP for FUU? Also: questions if any wouldnt mind:
anyway to tweak dwi.exe just like daf.exe and use switches like |ro| and other switches and set part layout size etc? originally thought could force magldr to convert-extract by putting other partxx.bins on part(0) user then do userdata dump to .img but layout! and prob it just dump in original .bin anyway? not quite sure how dwi places converts- containers, fs, etc?
What IS known about magldr, partxx.bin(s), dwi.exe?
Yeah, im being lazy, maybe too hopeful here on these ones, but worth asking. I will fully disassemble dwi.exe later on .
If problem with rebuild .nb/.nbh perhaps use another kitchen like zero or visual osbuilder with wm6 and just rename .nb to part04.bin to even see if it will load at all; debug this and watch this strap up; I might try this with stock os.nb made to fit to size. CRC?
it may fail totally but I want to see why and where/when/by what. ie: interaction with wp7 hd2 spl emulacrum and other parts+magldr. Will cotl' spl etc get wm6; should 'understand' wm6 os.nb?
Might lead to exploration of other partxx.bin from within wm6 or mtty. another thing is mtty. Mtty brings other ideas into play; if we know Cotulla and DFT layouts etc and truly understand magldr, partxx.bin, dwi.exe, and emulacrum spl, then we can go another way: that is all I am really saying here.
Especially considering how it is built and lack of tools/info on this ***particular*** wp7 build.

Yeah, im being lazy, maybe too hopeful here on these (ffu/ruu) ones etc, but worth asking. These are what I will figure out/we need to. Also noted "wph" string in daf.exe for droid. interesting. so yes, bypass option seems real.
edit: going back to what I said above, replacing part04.bin COMPLETELY with equivalent size os.nb (rename back to part04.bin) and flashing with dwi.exe? there is a plethora of things that could be attempted this way. crc? size? errors? not sure, but there is that hd3/hd7 experimental leaked "hd2 wp7" rom that wouldn't flash to hd2 under normal spl. and a lot of other things here to do; I am just interested in this as it bypasses all normal known spl mechanisms completely! You can flash anything you want without checks etc. And then explore interaction with Cotulla' spl (wp7hd2LEO1000) and other partxx.bin etc. Thoughts?
As far as orthodox methodology goes, so, bepe_cotulla_dft made a complete new platform builder and bsp? thoughts on where to start without this?
Please note I am a windows (nt) kernel coder and getting my head around phone7, ie bsp/oal=hal (!) so please bear with me! Who is working on Transaction Safe exFAT? any progress towards cracking? what is Encryption used in TexFAT? Along with kernel/drivers (nt x86/x64) also have cryptography experience. Sorry for all the questions! umm, in summary:
I am also assuming other partxx.bin(s) of DFT release are SPL, OEM, OEM RO, etc.
***Anyone got up KITL and/or can debug this leo70 release? (please answer with instructions etc!).***
edit: with above factors being case, I will fully disassemble and reverse magldr, partxx.bin, cotulla wp7 hd2 spl, os.nb, dwi.exe later on . edit: am doing now. whilst reading architecture for windows 7 phone! Kitchen will be done, but ability to just flash and part layout initially required imho! I am going to take control of magldr, cotulla wp7 spl, dwi.exe first: doing this now .
Sorry to spread over few posts!
Ultimately thus, concluding, I think key here is to reverse engineer all (cotulla' wp7-hd2-spl emulacrum, magldr, os.nb, all other partxx.bins, dwi.exe) then create new open set of each these and new flasher: anyone explored this, disagree, agree?
This is what I am doing now .
Got IP address & can see what is being done.
i like your work
keep up what u doing and i hope to get it done so we can finally use wp7 unlocked and activated
thank you...
@Leo70
I'm a coocker (for windows mobile 6.X) so if you need some help i think i could help you. Just PM me if you need
Why don't you ask Cotulla? Reverse Engineering will be much more longer?
I think they are working on a new MGLDR so why do your own thing on your side?
Can you put a file in the installation process where we can put our Live ID Code?
If every one have the same market ID that will possibly be a problem in the future?
I'm not trying to teach you anything don't really now about dev stuff just wanted to share my thought and opinion.
looking forward to this kitchen....
ok, after 3 days of attempting to download RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.60.401.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10_Signed rom i had finally been successful so i thought i should try out swapping stuff to determine what each part**.bin represents.. started off with the basic os.nb swapping and tried flashing magldr to see the changes..
i hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems partition size & info are hardcoded into DWI.exe so the file size change doesnt allow for a successful flashing..
so lets hope it will be more flexible when magldr 1.13 is released (which is going to be released "soon" as in no specific eta) otherwise this kitchen might just serve the purpose for building nb's/nbh's for other devices..
But im sure this issue is only present in magldr 1.12 dwi.exe as the wp7 rom wasnt released officially in xda, however only time will tell
Only time will tell, fingers crossed
this project sounds great. a already tweaked rom would be awesome and an pre activated rom even better.
keep up the work. maybe you should contact cotulla and ask him rather than reverse engineer everything. maybe he will help you and save you a lot of work.
I'm mostly a business user and neither Android or WP7 can fully do what poor little 6.5 can do as of now.
I did search this & saw in a link in:
HTC Leo: HD2HD2 Windows Phone 7HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A and General
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922030
but I thought that since 6.5 would have to be ported to an SD card, this topic shoould be in HD2 6.5 section? So I thought I'd start a thread here for any news or updates....
I know Cotulla/DFT is working on it. I would imagine there'd be a great interest in this. I personally can't wait.
Also a Question:
If/when it is ported, would a ROM have to be specifically made for each port i.e. Dutty ROM or KWBR ROM or would you be able to drop any ROM onto SD card?
I guess with 300,000+ subscribers I'm the only one....

"poor little 6.5 can do as of now"....
well in my opinion it's not., my 6.5 is a BEAST! thats why i didnt switch yet to wp7 or android.. winmo 6.5 is the main source of everything stable and fast.. without it there will be no wp7 and android on our hd2..
Hi, I also would like this to happen, as i have inported WP7 to my HD2 which is good but lacks good apps.
As for WP7 im looking for a good sat nav like Tomtom and Copilot live 8, but they both say that they are not making one for WP7.
Thats why I would like to run WP7 and have a SD bootable WM6.5 for Tomtom or Copilot which I had before on my HD2 WM6.5
So please can someone make one
I to think being able to boot Window Mobile 6.5 from SD would be really awsome. We all know that the DFT has annouced they are working on makeing this possible but I beleive this is going to be even harder and take much longer than Andriod did. You have to take into consideration the meir size of the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS is so much bigger than other OS's. So compiling all the code to work in a SD format is going to take time. But if anyonr can do it the DFT are the ones. I really wish there was something I could do to help those vuys out with this venture, but I am not versed enough with writting and compiling code yet to be of any real assistance.
Kudoes to the DFT and all thier hard work.
wm6.5 to sd card
hi,
this is exactly what i wish, i hav tried wp7 on hd2 android sd version, but what makes wm6.5 as my preferd os is
- wm6.5 is less dependant on cellular data connectivity
-ease of access to file system through file explorer and total commonder, though android has evolved from very little to a lot better explore but still u cant beat the wm6.5
- a lot of file and work can be accessed & edited if u wish to work offline
- wp7 & android have made user more dependant on online storage of documents & programs so i feel like being dependant on the online storage
- Most important point is that the progrem setup cabs can be saved on the device and it gives the ease and conveniance to install mod or work back to user coustomization without the need to connect to the desktop/laptop or data connection.
So all in all wm6.5 is still preferable as a choice as one of the os if there is dual boot(in my case wp7&wm6.5 dual boot)
all i can say is though i do like wp7 but until it gives evolves to the freedom & ease offer wm6.5 i think we feel the need of having wm6.5 sd port/rom.
if any developer will be working on porting wm6.5 to sd card i will be happy to contribute to him.
Please if any developer is already doing so then kindly point me to that place
My gut feeling is this won't happen :-(

@pinkjpr: there's a solution for your last problem, though it's a bit complicated. Install your program via the marketplace. Then also need ASTRO file manager (probably other tools, maybe even free ones, will be suitable as well). Now go to tools-->SD-Backup Manager (or something like that, can't remember the name). Chose the program you want to backup, click the "save" button (or similarly named). Now you can use the search function to look up your newly created apk (distinguish between them via date of creation). Tap and hold +send via mail or connect your phone to the PC and copy the apk on your computer.
The first step (Backup Manager) isn't always necessary.

My friend, u r missing my point,. please correct me if i m wrong, but apk files are for android os, just like the cab files in wm6.x, and i am referring about wm6.x & wp7,
secondly most of the android applications are web based and advertizement sponcered so u need a working data connection to use most of them (i m not saying all of them). & that brings u back to working internet data, and if u are in a remote location where u dont have network then u hav only limited functionality& cant use most of apps, so the device is more like a flash light or a paper waight,
finally about customization, i am not saying backup restoration, i am saying a fresh installation with what ever apps u want to use again and leave the ones u dont wish to,
and lastly u are saying to connect to PC/Laptop, so again u must carry ur laptop with you so u back to the dependence on PC & data connectivity
i think u havent explored windows mobile for long so u are underestimating its potential compared to android
