Great program
Thank you. I've been using it for years!
Bloody awesome.
Thanks
This version of MortgageCALC is an update which has an “improved’ user interface. I increased the size of the “Touch” areas for controls, and added ability to swipe on graph control to change from one graph to the next. I also included “swipeability“ to the list box for the amortisation listing.
In writing the program I have tried to make one version of the program which will install across as many Windows Mobile platforms as possible (ie smart phone and touch screen type devices, in all screen configurations.)
I have found that not all Windows Mobile devices are created equal, with inconsistency in hardware keyboards being an issue in achieving a “Universal” version of the program.
MortgageCALC should work on all Touch Screen (Professional) devices, with the Microsoft NETcf2 framework, and has been tested on Imate SP5 Smartphone style layouts. BlackJack devices may have a problem. The original Blackjack had an unusual keyboard layout, current version (the Blackjack II) is more conventional in its layout, however I don’t have one to test on, so I would be interested in feedback.
The original version of MortgageCALC, written some years ago, was coded in eVB. This version uses the NETcf2 framework.
The original version also had many more features that this release. Some of these feature required many updates each time a new OS’s was released by Microsoft, and many hardware compatibility issues. (ie.. never worked on Smartphones) This version of MortgageCALC is a very much simplified program, whilst still being able to do fairly comprehensive loan calculations.
Greg
Hi Greg,
Just would like to start by saying thanks for such a great product.
I would like some advise or direction with programing/tables. Is there a forum or a discussion somewhere about how to work or program these to better work with USA financing? I would like to figure how to create a script where it where auto-calc mortgage insurance, property taxes, home owners insurance (Impounds = yes or no). I would like the ability to manually edit the default factors if I wanted. I would like the ability to choose FHA (which adds an Up Front Mortgage Insurance Premium to the base loan amount) or Conventional (which doesn't). The "UFMIP" and monthly mortgage insurance can vary based on risk based criteria. My other question: is this programing available on the Windows Mobile version or should I attempt this on the older version?
Thanks in advance,
Luis
Luis,
The original version of MortgageCAL, which was written in eVB (embedded Visual Basic) had the feature of programmable 'Calculation Tables'.
The user of the original program can input formulas for local government charges, stamp duties, or any other cost, and the program would then calculate these costs automatically when working out loan costs.
The formulas are in a standard JScript syntax. Any reference on JScript formulas would give you an idea on what type of calculations are possible, and there are a number of example calculation tables included in the program download.
With the final release of the original MortgageCALC I was getting very frustrated with the continual changes to the code required each time Microsoft released a new CE version. The program accesses an undocumented interrupt address in the OS to enable JScript to run in a "Shell". The final version of MortgageCALC was written with a detection routine, in anticipation of Microsoft changing the address in future OS releases. This has enabled the program to continue to work on Windows Professional 6.0, however it does not work on Windows Standard 6.
I have not included calculation Tables in the re-written version of MortgageCALC (most recent release is version 1.4).
There are a few of reasons for this:
1. The new version is designed to be a much simplified program to the original. Aiming to be more user friendly.
2. The calculation table function had to be coded differently for different Pocket PC versions.
3. The time required,
4. The lack of access to the many different PPCs for testing.
I have written some code to test the possibility of inclusion of the Calculation Tables feature in a future release of the "new" MortgageCALC, however have not released a version with this feature yet due to the amount of programming time required to get it to the standard achieved with the original program. (Time is a issue with my other [paid] work commitments).
Anyway.... I plan to update the present release in about a week or so, with some minor user interface improvements, (But no Calculation Tables).
PS.. I anticipate that my Web Site will be taken down by my service provider in the next month or so.. I have had the site for a number of years, however a recent change in my ISP's billing arrangements means that once the present billing cycle expires I will not be continuing to use them. I have always paid them in advance, so have approx a month up my sleeve before the site is taken down.
I have yet to decide which ISP will get me as future customer. I will post the details on this site when the time comes.
Thanks for your feed back and much appreciated time you have put into this project. I currently have a Touch phone with WM6 and the older version works for now. I'll install the newer one as well as they shouldn't have any conflict with you each other, right? I will look forward to the new version, especially the one that will included tables. I realize this maybe a long time coming but most of us are faithful fans/users of program.
Thanks for heads us up on your site, we'll look forward to you see up again. By the way, I noticed you don't have a "donate" button on your site. I, for one, have really benefitted from your program and would like to donate some cash. I believe others feel the same way. Let's us know how we may support you in return.
Thanks again for the work you have done,
Luis
Can't enter more than one digit
First off - it's an awesome calculator. It has a very clean interface and very professional looking! I do have a problem with the latest version (v1.5) and was hoping you can help. I can't seem to enter more than one digit in any of the fields. I'm using this on a Samsung Blackjack II with Windows Mobile 6.1. Do you know of why that would be?

I personally don't. The only I can think of is that it doesn't like your keyboard or input method. Try selecting another method. Good luck.
pkngo
Try changing the keyboard input by selecting Menu>Option>Setup>Menu>NumPad
Key a string of characters to represent the keyboard numpad layout on your device.
For example : 0ERTDFGXCV.
To represent: 0123456789.
Don't forget the keyboard entry for ".", which represents the decimal symbol key, to end the string.
Let us know how it goes.
Use with Blackjack II
I also have the issue of only one digit entry on a Blackjack II. I also notice after typing the digit, the battery indicator in the right hand corner goes away and the digits "12#" come up. After moving to another cell, the battery indicator comes back.
I tried to change the NumPad layout per your instructions, but when I get into that screen, I can't change anything except the two options under the menu selection - "0ERTDFGXCV." and "0123456789." Same issue with the "12#" coming up.
This give you any ideas? I'd love to be able to use this program...
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the info. Without feedback I (and other developers) can't fix issues with their projects across the various Mobile Platforms.
Your advice I think has helped me identify the issue.
The "#12" symbol appears on the screen as the text box in MortgageCALC is switched to take numeric only input. On most devices this is the right thing. On the Blackjack it appears to cause problems.
If you can advise the corresponding Alfa Keys for Numpad layout for the Blackjack II, I will release an amended beta version of MortgageCALC for the Blackjack, with a new option to turn off Numpad Alfa/Numeric switching.
For example : e = 1 ?, r = 2 ? etc...
Thanks
e=1
r=2
t=3
d=4
f=5
g=6
x=7
c=8
v=9
?=0
.=.
All are accessed using the Function key if e.g. I am writing a text message with the exception of the "." button.
Looking forward to a version where I don't have to amortize $9 over 5 years at 8% ;-)
mkuether
I have posted a update of MortgageCALC to 1.5.002 which I hope will fix the issue with the Blackjack II.
After installing Menu>Options>Setup>Menu>NumPad>Menu>?ERTDFGXCV. should fix issue on Blackjack.
You may have to exit MortgageCALC and stop program from running (see Task Manager?), then relaunch, to get change in MortgageCALC keyboard to be recognized properly. If you can advise if keyboard fix works I will release another update to fix the issue of having stop and relaunch program. (Restarting may or may not be a required?)
See POST 1 for new cab file.
Worked perfectly! I removed the program, then reinstalled using the new CAB file with no issues. I now have the ability to amortize at will...consider the Blackjack II issue put to bed.
Any other updates planned? I would love an amortization calc that would also spit out a balloon payment of principal at the designated time...saves time scrolling down to the month required.
Thanks for this app very useful.
Great to hear that it's now fixed.
Sometime its hard to get it right when you think your have fixed a problem, and there is no feedback on the offered solution.
I think everyone here at Xda benefits from feedback.
In regards to "balloon payments", MortgageCALC already has a method to calculate a balloon payment at a given period over full loan term.
1. First calculate loan over full term,
2. Change loan term to the shorter term required.
3. Select amortize.
MortgageCALC will then calculate loan over the shorter term, with a balloon payment.
If you amortize both the full term and the short term loan (with the same periodic loan payments) you can see a comparison of the two loans by scrolling the graph screen. The final balloon payment is shown on the amortize listing screen.
Whilst I've have considered an option to put in a fixed monetary amount for a balloon payment, option's inclusion in the program is unlikely due to the increased complexity it would add to the user interface.
I will be releasing an update of MortageCALC in the near future, however it will only be a minor update incorporating a refinement of the coding for the Blackjack fix.
Anyway, thanks again
Update 1.5.003 posted - Only change to program is the optimization of the keyboard code to fix Blackjack keyboard issue reported above.

SMSBubbles displays incoming text message or delivery receipt in a "bubble". If text of message contains a phone number SMSBubbles tries to find matching contact from the phone's contact list and according to the settings replaces the number by composed contact string. All phone numbers in a bubble are shown as links, so it is possible to activate them and then make a call to the linked phone number.
SMSBubbles works on Windows Mobile 5 and higher Smartphones.
Basic features:
* - Displays incoming text message in modal bubble
* - Displays SMS delivery notification in bubble
* - Silent SMS delivery receipt notification
* - Shows bubble even if device is locked
* - Resolves phone numbers in text messages and delivery receipts
* - Provides ability to set custom delivery receipt text
* - Customizable form of resolved phone number replacement
* - Supports both QVGA (240x320) and standard (176x220) resolutions
* - Supports landscape orientation
* - Bubbles can be switched on/off according the phone profile

not to be rude but whats the point of this? im slightly confused.
Do you have a smartphone (touch screen-less device)?
no, i have a at&t tilt. i remmber ur new menu app which i still use even on my tilt so i know you make good apps. just confused on this one! lol
Smartphone's do not have the built in ability to display notification bubbles. This utility brings them back and works beautifully.
Saman,
good to hear from you and glad that this has made its way over to xda. Congrats on this release.
oh, i now understand purpose of this app. nice job then
Nice Job SAMAN!!!
I'm enjoying very much this official application (as much as I've enjoyed the non-official one...)
looks good, but i dont have a smart phone, so no use. I like the fact that it tries and works out who it is, thats the most anoying thing with the standard WM one, just gives a number
great program. thanks!
Great app!! I'm using photo contacts pro which have pop-up windows for new recieved sms messages, can this app work in conjunction with photo contacts pro or will it just conflict? I would love to have sms delivered pop-ups aswell since that never happens with photo contacts pro.
@saman-cz
Can you fix it to respect keylock, it doesn't respect that when you receive new sms, and because buttons can be pressed when the phone is in pocket, it is possible to lose new recived sms even the keylock is on!
It is very good app!
Thanks a lot!
mugglesquop: I didn't understand what you mean. Unresolved number in delivery receipt?
owziee: I don't know photo contacts pro, so can't tell. Just tried that. It shouldn't harm your device..
matrix77: Showing bubble even keylock is feature, not bug. This same as with an incoming call..
Maybe this is information to all: I will not do any changes. App cost me a lot of time, so use it as it is, or delete it. Any additional work on that and will have to make that commercial. Maybe if i receive enough donations...

Thanks for the app. One annoyance is when you use reply from bubbles, the focus is on the to (phone no) field. It would be better if it is on the text entry field ( same behaviour as the default windows sms app when you use reply)
You may consider changing this if you decide to come up with a new release.
I also have a few suggestion to make:
a) There could be a choice as to what the left softkey does when the bubble appears. For example, instead of SaveRead, it could be View and open tmail application and view the message there.
b) Maybe the bubbles can be skinned.
c) If a picture is attached to a contact, it could appear in the bubble somewhere.
Great App!!! working perfect on mi Vox!!
thx!

Hello!
We have exchanged some e-mails about translation of the application in Greek. Ι tried to reply to your last message but I got a permanent delivery error. So, I am writing here.
Thank you very much for responding, first of all.
And you could be right about the UI incompatibility but I have my doubts
(I will talk later about that).
Secondly, I totally understand your disappointment about people asking too much from you and your application.
Moreover, I understand why you may want to be paid for it.
But, at this point I have to make a reference to people who compile much more complicated applications and they keep it free.
Don't these people spare their time?
Don't these people make efforts?
They do, just like you.
Take SmartToolKit for example. It could be sold for 30 dollars or even more! But it is FREE and it is updated and improved very often based on users suggestions.
And the developer was kind enough to make localization very easy, by just editing a .lang document in Notepad.
Keep in mind, for your own sake, that the attitude you are showing
won't make people pay for your application.
It is indeed a great application and a very useful missing feature from Windows Mobile Smartphones, but you have to admit that it has its drawbacks.
And IF it could be localized and IF you listened to people's suggestions about bugs or wanted features without negative attitude,
then -believe me- you would get paid.
Because that is what happens with people compiling applications and share them with the internet smartphone-users community.
What did you actually expect?
OK, localization may not seem to be important to you and you might say that it won't fit the UI (which I actually don't think so, as I have translated more than 10 other applications in Greek, with much more complicated strings and commands, including AbstractStart, PhoneAlarm, SmartToolKit, Don'tForget, etc)
but trying to do so, instead of telling me "I will not bother", means that you're working on the application and that would make me feel that you worth being paid.
I am not saying that you did not do a nice job.
But think about it this way: we live in a world of PR (Public Relations) and with this attitude you will not get any attention, respect or money.
At least as long as there are other developers that do constant work on wonderful applications, for free.
I am telling you all this, as an advice, I do not mean to offend you at all.
It is your right not to want to develop this application further and I respect that you choose to ignore my suggestions and, of course, I will not bother you again.
You can ignore my advice too and this post altogether. I just wanted to point-out one or two things.
Cheers,
Bug in replace number
if you have
+1234567890 (1) in the sms, the number will not be replaced by name
OR
+1234567892 (+1234567890) in the sms, the number in the bracket will be replaced but the first no will not ie you get
Carmen Electra (+1234567892 (+1234567890)) where the name refers to the number in brackets (+1234567890)
My_Immortal,
if you want to continue with public conversation, ok.
Let's clear one thing: if i ever wanted to get paid for it, i would make it commercial.. But i didn't do it.
If you so smart about comparing applications and efforts, try to make one app, release it and continue with development.
Of course i know some other free apps, that are more complicated (i.e. mentioned Smarttoolkit).
A can only say. It's the decision of the author how he releases app and provides support for it.
And what you know about authors?? One could be a single student on college with plenty of time and other working man with family. You cannot compare them. The latter definitely treasures its leisure time much more.
A simple rule: free app is mostly created it reflects creator needs. Any other stuff is only good will.
Localization: I wrote you in email your greek strings won't fit until i regroup ui. Clear example:
"Use FileAs" (that has another input besides) vs. your "Προεπιλεγμένη ταξινόμηση επαφών". How it should fit in the current ui, wise guy?
I know, editing some "lang" document is easy. But it is not default feature of the OS API. Each developer must provide ability in his app to parse such file and design ui to count with different lengths of different languages. I'm not telling it is hard, but it's a bother.
And my listening to people? I always check and react on bug report, once i have a time..

I never meant to take it in public, it's just that I could not e-mail you.
And of course, I do not intend to take it any further, as we both expressed our opinions, so case is closed. And for the record, I never said I was wise, I have limited knowledge on programming and I just put my thoughts in words.

Looks nice, trying it today! Please see if you can make the links PPC downloadable, and if you haven't already, make it support AppToDate.
I use Egress right now, but it's WAY to too twitchy to scroll, hopefully this one is more natural.

Excellent! I've just started using it today, noted a few bugs, and a suggestion.
I had never used Google reader before, so I didn't consider to go to the website and configure anything first. When I logged in using your client, it crashed because of a zero index. I didn't write down the exact wording, but I suspect it's because it had no subscriptions.
Another consequence of me being new to Google Reader, I did some quick initial setup of some feeds I watch and then looked at them in your client. Then I decided to move some things into different folders, but those new folders do not show up in the client, even after manually refreshing.
Wait, interesting. I refreshed once, no updates. I exited, no updates. But I've just launched it again, and the new folders are showing up. Perhaps some quirk here?
Suggestion! Is it possible to make it (at least optional) to show two lines of the headline? Overall the presentation is very nice, and the scrolling is very very nicely controlled, but there's just not enough headline shown to really see if I want to read something.
And is it possible to scroll in the Browser? I assume you're just embedding PIE, so perhaps not, but worth asking.

Thanks for the headsup on that crash...I'll get that fixed.
Whenever you change your folder configuration in the desktop client it will not reflect those changes in Speeed Reader until you exit and log in again. What I am doing is mimicking the tag/subscription/article structure in Google Reader in Speeed Reader, however, I am still working on ways to refresh the whole structure (efficiently). Long story short, that ability is coming.
I can make the two line headline an option.
Scrolling in the browser is (very) limited since I am using the webbrowser control in .NETCF. I am looking for other ways to get around this problem though. I am going to be implementing gestures sometime in the future so touch scrolling will be added in the browser tab.
Any chance of adding support to star and share articles?

Yes, its already supported. If you go into settings and uncheck "Hide Google Tags" (requires program restart) it will display Starred, Blogger-Following, and Broadcast tags. I will investigate shared items. However, there is a bug where if there are no articles for a tag and you press it, the application will crash. I'm going to have a release out in a day or two to address that bug.
My thoughts on your program:
Once the data loads up, it is a great little program. I find it more useful than GReader's Iphone interface (www.google.com/reader/i) in Opera, particularly because the images fit properly in a story.
That being said, the initial load up time is prohibitive. I almost always want to fire up my google reader feed on my phone when I have a few free moments at work or in line, or something similar. Waiting a few minutes while the RSS data is retrieved every time is really a killer for me. I need it to load up fast so I can read quickly and then go on my way. I also want to see a lot of articles, not just a few. I know this is probably not a change that can be made, but if you could somehow get the RSS data to load very quickly...say, in 15 seconds or less, than this program would be very useful and would supplant my use of Opera + www.google.com/reader/i.
Thanks for the app.

Thanks for the feedback. There are definately someways I can speed up access (more threading or only downloading the articles as the user needs them <-takes the most time). I'll keep this in mind for future releases.

I made some updates to v0.6 (pending) that will significantly reduce the initial load.
Some background
My method of constructing the tags, subscriptions, and lists is as follows.
1->Retrieving list of subscriptions from GReader
2->Retrieving list of tags from GReader
3->Retrieving list of unread counts from GReader
I used all the above to construct a skeleton structure (no article data) that mimicks what you see in GReader desktop. This is very quick.
4->Then in, v0.5, I retrieved ALL the articles at startup from GReader which is slower (depending on the number of subscriptions) because I had to make a separate HTTP request to GReader for each subscription. I then add each article to each subscription as needed.
Now in v0.6, I do 1,2,3 only at startup, which greatly speeds up the first start. Then as the user browses to each subscription, the articles loaded when needed. (only one http request so only a couple seconds to load). The first load is always the slowest because once they are loaded, the articles are cached into memory, which speeds up subsequent accesses.
I still do 4, however, it occurs in the background (when you do a manual refresh or at the automated refresh time) and is undetectable to the user that this is occurring because you can still browse articles as before.
Another special request
You should use AppToDate to push your update.

Updated
V0.6 - May 20, 2009
Fixed two crashes dealing with empty lists
Fixed crash where closing login form using the corner X/Ok causes unpredictable program behavior
Significant loading performance speed up
Ability to view reading list for all tags (excludes ‘Untagged’ tagged since there is no official Google Reader tag for this)
AppToDate Support – need to have AppToDate (http://www.apptodate.org/get) installed to use this feature
[EDIT 29.09.2009]
Updated to version 2.1.8...future versions are planned to be released on Marketplace.
Note...99% of issues with "crashing on startup" is because people either have not installed .Net 3.5, or they have not rebooted their phones after installing .Net 3.5!
And one last thing, we will watch this thread, so feel free to ask for features, enhancements...we might add it in future versions on Marketplace.
Will update here when new version is on Marketplace with info about what is improved. ...it will most likely take a while before it is available...we are still in process of getting our account at Microsoft...
TrineFix is a utility that will fix a lot of issues you might have with your PIM data (Contacts, Appointments and Tasks)...and is you have no "issues" with PIM data, it still can be a benefit to easily do a cleanup with TrineFix (getting rid of very old appointments and so forth).
Duplicate contacts or appointments, FileAs on your contacts not as you like it, missing country codes, or not the format you want it to be!? TrineFix will fix it for you!

And if you sync with Outlook on your PC (or to a work server with Exchange), you will naturally get those data fixed on next sync too.
I have used it myself to fix my Outlook data at work...since my workphone syncs with my jobs Exchangeserver, so all fixes are applied at my work PC seconds later.
"Preview, manually correct, then apply the fix"
There are other applications that do much of the same, but TrineFix lets you always preview the data that will be affected, and even select/unselect individual items quickly, to give you full control.
Touchscreen, non-touchscreen, QVGA, VGA, WVGA, 320x320...
An another fairly unique feature of TrineFix is that it will adjust itself to different device types. If you have a smartphone, the buttons are smaller (since they do not need to be fingerfriendly), if you got a device with touchscreen the buttons are larger. If you have a touchscreen and no hardwarekeyboard, the software keyboard will show automatically when needed (option you can turn on/off under preferences). There are more, but I guess you are getting the point! ;-)
Some of the features in this version (2.0)
Duplicates (app, con)
You decide what fields should be compared (for example you might want to see all contacts that has similar names only)
Auto-remove exact duplicates, and get a preview of "near matches", and decide which instance to keep for these near matches
FileAs (con)
In Outlook you can set FileAs (ie. "Firstname Lastname", "Lastname, Firstname"...) differently per contact. I prefer to have them all the same, and TrineFix can set it as you wish for all your contacts in one go.
Country codes (con)
Change the formatting of countrycode on all your phonenumbers ("+1", "001", "(+1)", "(001)"...).
Add a default country code (your home country normally) to all phonenumbers that have no country code defined
Bulk deletes (app, con, tsk)
Get a list of all appointments, contacts or tasks that has a specific keyword/characters in them, and quickly uncheck/check all or some of these and delete. Might sound complex, but it sure ain't when you do it in TrineFix!
Built-in version check and download feature
TrineFix now has same built in version check as all TrineSeries applications, so you get a hint when there is a newer version, with info about whats changed/improved since the version you have, and let's you download and install cab directly from the application
Truly finger friendly (no small buttons or menus)
Keyboard friendly (we do not leave poor Smartphone owners behind, do everything with the keyboard if you want to
DISCLAIMER
We have tested TrineFix a lot and everything works great in all our tests.
...but you should still for safeties sake, take a backup of all your PIM data before you use TrineFix, just in case... ;-)
You can for example use PIM Backup (http://www.dotfred.net/) which is free, and does exactly what it says!
Feedback
This is what this forum is for, let us know if something you want is missing, something works great, or heay if something plainly sucks, whatever...I think we can take it!
TrineFix...what a weird name!?
If you think the name "TrineFix" is weird...well, it's the name of my girlfriend (who has helped out with all my apps btw), and the reason I made this program when she got a problem while syncing with several PC's, and ended up with a LOT of duplicates, and it drove her mad...so I made an app that fixed Trines problem...ergo "TrineFix"...and later "TrineSeries"! So now you know the store behind the weird naming!
And her name is not pronounced "trayn" (like they did in the MsMobiles podcast...it made us both laugh ), but more "treeneh"...ok...diffucult to explain...it sounds nice in Norwegian at least!
Where's the scrollbars!?
Scrollbars are NOT shown as default, but you can turn that on under Preferences (Auto/Off). I have them off as default, since I think the scrollbars in WM are "ugly"...ok...I am crazy, I know! :-D
New versions
TrineFix will on startup check against our webserver if there is a new version available, this chech is done on a seperate thread and is very light on datatrafic (approx 40-50 characters/bytes).
Below are screenshots showing what you would see if you upgraded from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 for example...

All texts are in english, no special service for the Frenchies I am afraid! :-(
But heay, I am norwegian, and have given no special services for us either!
We are making a couple of more applications here, and all the new ones will be "international"...enough of "norwegian apps". But the existing/old ones we have currently for "norwegians only" are using local webservices and so forth, that are really only usefull in Norway.
But enough excuses...we will support the (english speaking) Frenchies from now on! :-D
And thanks for the nice words, we will do our best!

Rolled out version 2.0.1 now, could not reproduce the exact problem, but did a enhancement in the "detect country code of phonenumber" part of my code...hope that cured it!
If not, the next one who experiences the same, great if you could PM me with phonenumber before and after fix...so I can reproduce the same issue in my end, and squash the bug for good!
Made a small enhancement at the same time, the menu where you select the type of formatting you want for countrycodes ("+1", "001"...) now will show examples with the countrycode that you last selected as default country...making the explanation on the menubuttons slightly more relevant for the user.
I am going away until sunday on my brothers bachelor party tomorrow (hope my brother does not frequent XDA, so I will not be able to do any fixes or replies until sunday evening.
"PrincessTrine" will monitor the thread the next 1.5 days, and reply as best as she can though!

Any plans to add a "edit before dial" feature? This is a feature found on most Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones but not on WM. It's so frustrating.

Could you explain a little how that works, since I haven't seen that...and maybe we will add it...just need to know what it IS first!
[EDIT]
Feel free to describe how YOU (and others can do the same) would LIKE such a functionality to work. So we can get better idea of the issues one tries to solve with this.
I presume, from the sound of it, that it has something todo with "editing a number before dialing it"!?
Tried too google it, but better to get a description from people who actually have seen it in action, and a short description of how people then would like something like this on their WM phone.
[EDIT2]
From reading this http://blog.jake.net/2009/06/01/edit-before-dialing-please/ article on the web...it seems like it really can be solved with just using +44 (meaning "+" and "countrycode") as countrycode prefix and no "(0)" / "0" in the number:
The number should be written either 020 7123 1234 (with the country prefix assumed) or +44 207 123 1234.
..or am I misinterperating the article and the issue.
Sorry the questions...quess I just need to calm down here...and wait patiently for some input here...!? :-D

Will it work with syncing with my PC and its Groupwise?
It seems as though this would work with my Palm Treo Pro (running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional) when syncing using the USB sync to my PC for my Groupwise PIM data, even when it is running my Google apps, especially the calendar. (I had a lot of duplicates showing up when I tried to run the Google apps, using CompanionLink and thus quit trying it. I would love it if your utility would fix those problems whether across the USB connection or live across the wireless instant sync.) Will it indeed do well with this kind of setup?
Sorry for all the detail, but I wanted to make sure that I gave all of the correct info.
Thank you....

Since I have not used Google apps, Groupwise, or CompanionLink, I can not say for sure. But since TrineFix will apply changes to contacts, appointments and tasks on your device, ANY sync program that syncs changes made on your device, would work fine.
Take a backup with PIM Backup, try it out...since it "should" work fine!
If not, I would like to know a little about what does not work as expected, and maybe I can add extra options/features to the duplicate-searches for example.
And no need to appologise for the amount of details...details is always good, that's my motto!

This program looks great!
Will there be any prepackaged maps for download? For Example, Canada, New York, London, Paris, France?
Great Tool, I like it really.
But some time the PC-Tool crash. After the next crash I will post the message.
@Maedhros
I think this is not easy, because the file for a whole country with every zoom level is a fat file (many GB great).
@NaviComputer
A great feature is a map update over the Smartphone (3G, WLAN, ...), or a auto download for missing tiles.
looks finger friendly... thanks for this
crash all the time...
Unfortunately the desktop software doesn't even want to start on Windows 7 x64:-( The process starts up, but UI never shows up:-(
P.S. Be careful with Google maps, caching their maps is against user agreement. Microsoft, however, allows it to some extend (though you have to get a Virtual Earth dev. license).
Very nice job, thanks for the hard work!
Hi,
here idea for a new feature.
A merge feature for the PC-Tool. So it is easy to download some segments and merge to one layer. I think this is not a great problem for the sqlite-DB that you are using as single file store, or?

The PC Tool isn't working on x64 Windows 7 installations. As mentioned before the process starts but somehow fails to initialize the user interface.

Same as Terracrosser but according to the description and comments looks WAY BETTER and maybe even faster to download the maps. Good work
issues with x64 Windows 7 installations
The PC Tool isn't working on x64 Windows 7 installations. The UI never showed up and the CPU goes 100%. Otherwise the concept looks great.
I can confirm the win7 x64 problem tried running with all admin rights on and in xp and vista compatability modes. always uses 13% of my corei7 920 and about 28Meg ram.
I can also confirm the problem with Windows 7 x64 - the process starts, no program UI loads, and the navimapper process loads a single core to maximum.
A Help file will be great.
Nice looking application....
BUT..............
On my XDA orbit (QVGA wm6.1) the buttons look a little squashed... Also so few options!!!! would love to seem more, such as the ability to change coordinates to a user one or distance from Kilometers to miles and vice versa. And may be the ability to specify the gps port.
Also the pc app is a little slow and the PPC apps doesn't see the maps when downloaded and transfered to device(for me at least)

More options will definately be added. Please notice this is first release version 0.5...
A Help file will be great.

I'm going to add some FAQ here... Is there anything special which would like to be explained? I thought the PPC software is pretty much self explaining, however the map download procedure needs some more explanation. What do you think?
[APP] AmazonIt! 1.3 [2010.09.13] barcode price lookup
What It Does
AmazonIt! helps you shop. Ever see an item on the shelf that looks interesting, but you wonder
A) if you can find it cheaper online?
B) if it's any good?
That's where AmazonIt! comes in. Using AmazonIt!, you can scan a product's UPC or EAN barcode, and see its Amazon.com price and ratings.
AmazonIt! will also show you if the price of an item has changed since it was last updated.

How It Works
AmazonIt! uses a converted version of the java library Zxing to detect barcodes. It then uses Amazon's Product Advertising API in order to retrieve product information.
Requirements
Windows Mobile 5 or greater
.NET CF 3.5 or greater
Unlimited Data plan (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Hey... This app sounds great. Would it be possible to choose between amazon.co.uk and .de ? Should be easy to implement in your app. just a variable with the .tld inside. what do you think. with this trick you can use your app all around the world.

Yeah, that'll be in the next version. I just wanted to get this version out as quickly as possible.
Yay, front page again!
Just to clarify:
Currently, you can only see the average rating and number of reviews, but not the actual reviews - this will be added in a future version
Also, only Amazon.com prices are checked - future versions will check other online stores/resources as well as allow you to enter prices found in the field.
This looks great.
You mentioned that it will be able to use other sites. Would it be possible to have the ability to manually add a site or a location for search? I'm thinking, in the U.S., most people would use it for electronics, toys, etc.
The sites I'm thinking of are:
Wally World (ugh...)
Target
BestBuy
TigerDirect
NewEgg
Toys'R'Us
Fry's Electronics
B&H Photo
Adorama

The main issue with adding sites is whether or not they have an API for me to query them. I want to avoid having to parse HTML in order to search and find items. So unfortunately I can't make it so that anybody can plug in any search site.
However, I could provide a list of common search sites, and then launch that URL with the barcode, which would then open in your default browser.

Ah, I think that would actually be better. I think it would be nicer to get the list of the site you wanted to look at and then just check that. Sometimes you may not want to deal with online shopping, and may just want to check your local stores.
That sounds good man, keep up the great work!!
Love it thanks!
QVGA?
Will it work on a QVGA device?

It looked fine on my QVGA emulator
Thanks for the app, now i need to go out shopping, heh heh
This app is totally cool. I snapped a shot of my Windex bottles barcode and it knew what it was instantly. Lol..... A bottle of Windex appeared on the Amazon screen. I nearly crapped my pants in disbelief. Very cool if you're a bargain hunter or missing Amazon while out at the store. I can't wait to actually put it to practical use.
good job zaijian.
Will wait for amazon.de support =)
thanks. can be useful
thanks been waiting on a savvy shopper like tool
thanks for your work
Looks like a great app, but it does not work properly on my HTC TyTN II. When I try to recognize a barcode, it launches the camera but never does anything with the captured barcodes. Am I doing something wrong? I am using WM 6.5.1. Thanks!
awesome, works great on my touch pro 2
AmazonIt! launches the device's built-in camera dialog. Take the picture as normal, then hit the back/close/ok button or close the camera dialog. AmazonIt! will then try and detect the barcode. If it can't detect it, it will ask if you want to retry - if it does detect it, then it will add that item to the list and attempt to retrieve product information from Amazon.com.
If the application does not behave as I just described, then that's a bug, so please let me know.
Would it be possible for AmazonIt delete the photo when it is done? I was surprised to see all the UPC photos remaining on the phone when I was done.
