Hello all,
today I have AP4.0 running on my Ameo. Is good stuff, however there are lots of things I don't need at all.
Meanwhile "thousands" of good ROMs are existing - therefore I am asking for a few suggestions which ROM to test. Yes, indeed, I could make a test with all ROMS one by one - but I'm using the Ameo for business purposes and can't afford to have a non-running Ameo.
I'm using my device for:
- Internet access (opera is working excellent)
- Calender, Contacts, Tasks when being "on the road"
- Reading pdf-files
- taking snap-shots with the camera
- watching video (TCPMP)
- playing mp3 (connected to my car audio system)
- Routing through GPS (not yet installed, coming soon)
What I like in AP4.0 and should be included in any other ROM:
- mass storage functionality
- today screen with fast access to most important funtions/programs
- mp3 Player
Thanks in advance
Dieter
my rom have:
- opera in the addins (extended rom)
- iContact + poutlook features (of course)
- Acrobat Reader 2.5
- HTC Camera
- TCPMP with all plugins
- Audio Manager and wmp fully working + mp3 trimmer
- it have usb to pc and wm5torage for mass storage functionality
- htc home + calendar + device lock
bye

Hi XDAII(i) owners,
I sold my XDAII & bought an XDAIIi for the integrated wifi & better cam.
Very satisfied, don't need WM2005 (tested on my XDA2 nice layout, but I can also set nice themes on my 2i and less battery than WM2005).
As the ppc toolz are for both devices the same, here i add my favorite ppc toolz list up till today, cause there is so much new software everyday :
1. Tomtom Navigator 5 Europe with plus-maps & poi's & checkpoint
Nice 3D interface, easy to use, best GPS program.
2. Hitchhiker 0.32 (freeware Kasuei Consultant Group) 0.4 still beta with some crashes - best wifi-connection tool to get online everywhere 4 free (80% of networks no WEP keys)
2. SPB Pocketplus 3.0.4
Best program with shortcuts to all your programs & themes, ...
3. Marsware Weatherpanel
Nicest weatherpanel that updates daily the weather 4 free on your ppc
4. Photocontacts Pro
Dial someone by clicking the picture and see the picture when they dial
5. Skype for ppc : free calls to anyone (if other person has also ppc phone with wifi & skype or via desktop pc & headset)
6. Avantgo : your daily newspaper with technews, movie, sports, actual news, register and free up to 2000kb news / day / different channels.
7. Mobimate Worldmate 2006 (ideal traveltool) updates weather different travel-locations, updates flight-schedules!, currency conversions, international measurements, and other traveller stuff.
8. Pocketdivx : ideal to play avi's and other videofiles
9. Pocket Music Player Bundle v3.2 : ideal for playing music and use your xdaIIi as a mp3 player (direct play from desktop ppc-multitask possible)
10. Anton Tomov Pocket Mechanic - to format SD card (when problems) or other cleanup/tweaks
Which essentials are on your lists ?
I hate it that msn has no email plugin or you have to go for the paid version. There is a 'photmail' program but still in beta i think.
Cheers,
Innovator
Hi,
I'm looking for a replacement for my HTC touch diamond, and the Wildfire seems like a good choice when it comes to size and cost. But what about the screen resolution; will there be a very limited amount of apps for qvga? Should I spend some more and get the Legend instead?
yes the amount of apps is limited because not all devs updated their apps for qvga
and a few apps are very slow on the wildfire, the one where is a lot of graphics or the cpu needs to calculate much
but there are still a lot of apps
and a lot of them work very fine

You have lots of applications Thanks for the list but is there a certain program you downloaded from the market only to find out it does not work on the device? Have you came across programs that does not work on QVGA resolution?
Homerun Battle 3d does not work on QVGA, you can download but it will not launch
thats what i find out so far
to my knowledge this is already filtered out from our perview. so the market for desire is different for wildfire based on what the device is capable of. for example i wanted skyfire to play flash web content; this is available on my mates desire but not on my wildfire, until they update their app.
the only app i've had trouble with is the ebook reader alkido? it loses sync with the page dimensions after a few pages, can't correct through changing page margins or other settings. trying other ebook readers, to no avail. guess it doesn't make a very good ebook reader at any rate. still like the option tho
very happy with wildfire, tough choice to choose between the desire and wildfire, in the end i got it for £9per month with redemption (if i remember) on 18 month 3gig internet with t mobile. desire was £20pm 18month, 3gig download tmobile, but with a huge and undefined waiting list...istill have yet to cancel that one
After connecting my Hi-Fi system to my home server using an USB DA Converter (HRT Music Streamer II+) I needed a remote control solution for the foobar2000 music player that run on Windows Mobile (for my home automation system I use a bunch of HTC HD2 as remote terminals). Unfortunately, I did not found anything that I liked.
As I had some spare time I decided to develop a solution myself building a web service server based on the foo_comserver2 foobar plugin and a Windows Mobile client that access the server over Wi-Fi.
They offer:
- basic playback control (play, stop, pause, next, previous)
- playlists listing and selecting
- selected playlist track listing
- media library access as a author/album/track tree
- media library search
- filling a playlist with albums or tracks from the media library
The client supports touch scrolling and (optionally) rotation.
As I developed them and they works at my home I post them here. Note that they are not commercial grade software (no installer, no configuration utility, the client is fairly dependent on HTC HD2 hardware) but
- the HTC HD2 is fairly common and the client might run on similar WVGA devices
- the server is more general and many tools can develop applications that interface to a web service
- full source code is included
Server requirements
- .NET framework V3.5
- foobar2000 V1.1.5 (or later) with these plugins
- foo_comserver2 V0.7
- foo_runcmd V1.1
- foo_playlist_attributes V0.3.0
Client requirements
- .NET compact framework 3.5
- HTC HD2 (or something very similar)
- optionally (required for rotation support) TouchLockPro 2.12.8 with GSensor
enabled (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215).
READ the ReadMe.txt inside the archive and Good luck!

After some work to set things up it works very well on my HD2.
Thank you very much!

Hey Guys,
I am looking for advice on the best Android options (custom rom, apk, skins etc) for an in- car device I am trying to build. The device will run Android and connect to a smartphone for data and notifications (like Android Wear). I would like for it to have the following capabilities, without touch input/ voice only :
Device Capabilities/ Characteristics:
- minimal UI
- Basic Phone Functions (make calls, reply to sms, and get directions - all without touch input)
- A few select Car apps, from the Play store Apps (the issue is navigating the UI without touch)
A few options I've tried:
- Google Glass apk (issue: buggy, no play store apps)
- Google Now (voice commands), with Launcher (UI), Tasker (custom commands) (issue: navigation of UI, smartphone connection)
