This will work on a 32 bit machine.
1) Install the driver listed above.
2) Connect USB Cable to computer.
3) Put phone in Diag Mode. ##3424
4) Connect USB Cable.
5) Open QPST Configuration and make sure it sees the phone.

Yep, that method works, but the problem is the RUU itself. Allthough you have the right drivers after this procedure, only a modified G3 RUU will be able to flash on Vista.
The traditional way of flashing using os.nb with the Upgrade.bat works though.
Works
The on above does work, but I tend to use ShellTool more often.

Can you explain about ShellTool?
edit: I found some info. If I understand correctly, ShellTool is the "traditional" way of flashing, integrated in the Upgrade.bat?
vmware
A virtual machine loaded with XP is the best option for flashing comfortably, if you (unfortunatelly poor you) have vista on your pc.
VMware makes it simple and fully functional.
ciao!
I'm happy to say , the vmware does work !
I tried VM+WIN2K on Vista . It works perfectly !
i agree with vmware, have not had a problem running vista home premium running vmware/xp pro & all flashing is A-OK!!
hi.
please give some information about this program ( vmware ).

thanks
I'm using a simplified version of vmware found elsewhere on internet .
I'm not sure whether I could put the link here or not ...

Of course they have a trial version, but I am not interested. I want that simplified version, coz 189 dollar is way too much only for upgrading. I better keep my old xp machine.
Are you guys sure you have tried all the methods ? I have a G4 prophet and the one from this link

does work on my laptop with vista! No problems at all !
Try this one at your own risk , lol ,

When i use vmware+xp under vista:
Do i have to install activesync under vmware for flashing?
Do i have to deactivate something in Mobile Device Center in Vista
so the phone is only recognized in xp and not in vista?

In Vmware menus , there's a 'removable device' option to allow you plug in usb devices . After you activate the function from the menu , your phone will be disconnected from Vista and recognized by the OS you installed in Vmware . Then , you can operate in the VM updating , synchronizing , everything as usual .
In addition to the previous advice, you must install ActiveSync under your VM-XP. You must look at it as a seperate computer, it needs to have all the software and drivers to perform.

You purchase xp...or...ask one of your friends for their copy when they upgrade to Windows 7.

Usb Driver for Windows7 SP1 x64

Hi guys the topic says what i need..i drivers i was using in Win Xp(approx 15mb) is not working here..it says it is missing some digital signature blah blah..
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

[q] android drivers for windows 8?

So I have a laptop with windows 8 on it and it wont take the drivers that are suppose to be installed in fastboot/hboot. If I load windows 7, install the drivers and upgrade to windows 8 they work fine but i cant take a windows 8 laptop and put windows 7 drivers on it from scratch. Any ideas?
Run the drivers in compatibility mode for windows 7.

This.
If you're not sure how to do it, right click the installer > Properties > Compatibility tab > Check the box to run as a different version of Windows > Select Win7.
Did that to get some Creative drivers for my sound card to install under Windows 7 when they were Vista drivers (installer explicitly checked for Vista, and if it didn't match that version of Windows, it had a fit and wouldn't let you install it).
Alright, I have a question that kind of relates to this. I have windows 8 dual booting with windows vista. If I wanted to go with just windows 8, how do I remove the windows vista partition? U am asking here because I have come to rely on the smart folks here, and their advice. I know this isn't about the rezound, please don't flame me....

Go to the regular desktop (not MetroUI). Go to the start menu and right-click on my computer then click properties. Click Advanced System Settings on the left then go to Startup and Recovery. Pick Windows 8 under the default OS, reboot your computer then delete the Vista partition.

Don't forget to expand the current partition too, otherwise you're wasting space .

you cant expand the partition if its at the end of the partition table. you would have to move and then resize and then grow the filesystem to fill the partition.

His partition may be at the begining.
But, I don't think those rules apply to SSDs right?

FYI, HTC Sync is actually at version 3.3x.x now. Anyway, wouldn't HTC SyncManager be better...it's specifically for Vista and later?

HTC One and Windows 8 64-bit

So I'm using the HTC One with Windows 8 64bit pc and when I plug in my phone it won't mount the sdcard so I can copy files from my pc. This works just fine when I plug the phone into a Windows 7 machine. Any ideas what is going on?

Might have to uninstall and reinstall drivers. Or it could be a USB 2.0/3.0 thing.
When I plug mine into my widows 8 tablet the htc sync doesnt show up.
are there drivers specific for windows 8 for this device?
Mine works in my usb 2 and 3 ports, but I had to try a few different drivers until I found one that worked. Windows 8 refuses to detect it in fastboot, though

can you share the drivers you are using for windows 8?
This is the driver that I am using
Same here. MTP works fine, Sync works fine, ADB works fine. Fastboot refuses to work, and mounting in recovery so far unsuccessful. (Win 8 x64).

No setting I know of. I think I'm using drivers from AIO Toolkit. Also installed/uninstalled Sync so not positive, but one of the two. FYI I had to uninstall VMware because it was hijacking device and giving it some virtual USB driver, might occur with others like VirtualBox also.
i had the same issues with my Win8 64-bit, Dell XPS12 Ultrabook with USB 3.0 ports and this thread helped me solve all my USB issues with the HTC One. May be worth trying...
I had issues on Win 8 64 bit on my One X a while back.
This worked for me and solved the problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2156665
. I used the program to uninstall the drivers and reinstalled them.
Also just realized that no mounting in recovery is normal ... still learning to remember that I have a new device .
Recoveries don't support pure MTP media devices (yet), so it is not possible at the moment.
maybe drivers can not work for 64bit system, or use the windows 8 enterprise 64bit to try this again. some program can not work fine on my windows 8 pro, but my friend's windows 8 enterprise can
