Hi,
Everynow and then when I click on a URL in an email etc Opera does not launch. The wait cursor spins and spins to no end. I then try to start Opera myself using its icon ... same result. I close all running applications wondering if this is memory related and try Opera again ... no difference. So in short I've had it with Opera for now so I want to go PIE way for a while.
Does anyone know how I can change the system default such that each time I click on a URL PIE opens up instead of Opera?
Thanks a lot for all your help.
The easiest way is to untick setting ...set opera as defaiult browser
cheers
Exactly what I was hoping for. Where is that setting though? I've looked around but seem to be missing it. Thanks for your help.

Bro, i tried to convert the original cab into reg den removed the setup.dll and reinsert the reg into it.
Overall i think the problem lies with the setup.dll as they tried to protect and in force securities into the installation cab which causes the compatibilities issue with our atom.
The issues why it affects our atom i guess is due to the certmod.dll in our atom which Jiggs told me that it cant be disabled or hacked in our atom
So lets hope Jiggs managed to solve this which will most likely solve the installation issue with many Appz.
If anyone have programming background and know how to extract the info from setup.dll please let us know. I really think a bit of altering will let it work properly in our atom.
And if anyone had other device which can install PocketPlus, do extract the reg info and let me see. Maybe i can try to manually insert those reg entries and see if it will works on our atom
THank!!
Have been using it.It's great.Smart scrolling function is there but cant configure it to set contacts or other programmes to scroll.Same goes to close button where although it does really close pro grammes but the option tab does not seem to appear on the task bar
Hi
I installed and configured everything from the scratch and it is working great. I have not tried to use the closed button function.
This version is more flexible and faster that the previous ones.
unable to install trial version from SPB.. its always unsuccessfull?..
I have it working well on WM5, which reg keys etc are needed?
Issues...
The today plugin works after setting a few options in the control panel.
The close button and battery meter didn't work.
I was able to get them to work by going setting the PocketPlus service to start automatically. I used MemMaid to do this. Just go to startup items, use the dropdown at the top to select "Startup Services." On mine it was the first entry. Set it to auto and now things seem to be working.
Smart scrolling isn't working. I think it is because there are no applications defined for it.

Can you please backup your settings and post the file here? Smart Scrolling isn't working for me. I think it is because there are no applications defined. Hopefully if you backup your settings I can restore them and then have the default apps working for smart scrolling.
Could you also export: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus\
Thanks in advance!

Enable Smart Scrolling for Resco File Explorer
Here's the registry to enable Smart Scrolling for Resco File Explorer. Please rename Smart Scrolling - Resco File Explorer.txt to Smart Scrolling - Resco File Explorer.reg. Copy to your PPC and run it. To experiment with this feature, open a registry application:
1. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Spb Software House\Pocket Plus\11\Applications
2. Create a new key. Name it after the application executable file's name you wish to enable the Smart Scrolling on
3. Browse into the new key
4. Create a DWORD. Name it "Enabled" and set the value to 1
5. Create a String. Name it "UserName" and set it to the application's name
6. Create a Multiple Line String. Name it "WindowClasses". This is the one we need to experiment on. The value is the name of the Windows Class which we want to scroll. I do not have any program to detect this. In Windows, a program like Spy++ can be used, but in PPC, I do not know

Smart Scrolling continued
With Brando's registry settings I now have all the entries in the list for the Smart Scrolling feature. They are all enabled, but it still doesn't work. I would guess there is another service not starting. I tried enabling _PocketPlusTouch.dll, but it just returns "invalid function."
It also seems that when I reset the Atom, the PocketPlus service does not auto start. I have to restart it from MemMaid each time I boot.

is a multiple line string value
such value is identical to SysListView32
Don't worry about it.
It looks like this (hex) when being exported.
However, I tried to copy and paste the registry from the above message, it has problem in creating the key WindowClasses.
You might first export another existing entry, e.g. fexplore.exe, and then modify the key name to the exe filename,
and also the UserName (as the name appears in the list), save it and import. should be safe and easy enough.
The most easiest way is first use a registry editor, create the exe entry, e.g. "Explorer.exe",
copy contents in other entry and paste to it, make minor modifications.
To make the changes effective, need to disable and then enable the smart scrolling.

If you create a shortcut (for anything) you can place it directly in the ..\windows\Start Menu\Programs ( also add \Sub-Folder of choice as desired)
Here is an example View attachment 298575 (unzip and copy to ..\windows\Start Menu) which starts IE and opens the BBC web site. The syntax of the shortcut is simply
Code:
:MSPIE www.bbc.co.uk
It will then appear in your Start Menu screen in the appropriate location.
You can easily duplicate an existing one and then alter the argument to the desired web address.
Position of icons within the Start Menu is controlled within the Registry and can be amended by tweaking.
Thanks, but it opens internet explorer and i prefer open Opera mobile, is it posible?

Hi, you simply need to replace the :MSPIE in the shortcut with the equivalent call for Opera...
It will be something like
:OPERA www.bbc.co.uk
I don't have opera installed just now so can't immediately check - have a look in the \windows directory (or it may be under Programs) - find the Opera executable and it expect it is something straightforward like Opera.exe - un which case the above will likely work. If it is somthing a bit different, edit accordingly.
Sorry can't be definitive, but should be failry easy to sort.

Following the same way, now we have the shortcircut. (Thanks a lot ) The next xtep would be changing the ugly standard icon by a new one related with the web page that we want to open... any idea about how to?...

Yes that can also be done. You have to spcify the location of the required icon as part of the Shortcut.
You need to add an extra section to the Shortcut in the form:
\DirectoryLocation\File.xxx,-nn
Typically you already have a file, be it an .exe or .dll which contains the required icon. Replace File.xxx with the required filename. The-nn specifies the location of the icon in the file, eg. -16
The easiest way to do this is use a dedicated app like SK Shortcuts Manager which can look inside and identify the icons and automatically create the shortcut with the correct syntax.

Hi I have a need to create a shortcut for windows mobile internet explorer that contains a "?" character in the url. When I include that character in the url string it is truncated at that point.
Example:
Code:
56#:MSPIE https://www .somedomain.com/indexapi.php?key=value
When the url reaches the internet exporer address bar it is only "https://www .somedomain.com/indexapi.php". The key and value are parsed out by the operating system I suppose. I tried using the ascii hex equivalent "%3F" instead and the internet explorer got the full url, but the apache server on the other end did not know what to do with the "%3f". Does anyone know a work around? I need the key and value as login credentials to the web site.
Is the a mod for the default browser to set the Google search to the desktop url by default instead of the mobile url. I'm using cm7.
Are you talking about the default User Agent setting (UAString) or what url the browser opens up in (http://wap.google.com for mobile)?
If you are talking about the User Agent setting then to see it in your Settings you must type in "about:debug" in the address bar and hit enter. After that you won't notice anything different. But if you go to Menu, then Settings for the browser you will see some new properties that are now exposed and UAString is the one that you will need to modify to change your browser's User Agent setting so the websites you go to will see you as either an Android device, a Desktop, or an iPhone.

If i use the search widget or type search in the browsers address bar it loads the mobile website. I would prefer it to load the desktop website.
Try changing the UAString as I've mentioned in my last post. I've tried all three and all three displays the results differently in the browser.

I currently have it set to Linux desktop but it still brings up the mobile. I think its hard coded in.
For me AOSP is still the best browser, it is quick, smooth and still does flash... The major problem I always had with it is that websites always loaded zoomed in (like almost every Android browser) because the viewport used to render the page was small. This has always been too big and blurry on all the 10 inch tablets I've had. The fix for this was to enter "about:debug" menu and untick "use wide viewport" in debug settings. I'm sure some of you have done this plenty, however this option never stuck and I had to manually enter "about:debug" every time I started the browser which gets confusing and annoying.
But now thanks to a handy XDA thread a quick recompile I can now browse with the correct zoom to my heart's content. The browser now loads in debug mode by default rendering pages spot on.
Before:
After:
This the AOSP browser was taken from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35551725#post35551725 recompiled apk is attached below.
Here are the instructions from that thread to install the browser:
Turbotab said:
> Must be rooted.
> Copy the browser.apk into the system/app folder
> With a root file explorer change the file permissions of the browser.apk to -rw-rw-r (you will see this represented as 664) If you don't do this, it won't install.
> You must rename the BrowserProviderProxy.apk & BrowserProviderProxy.odex otherwise the browser will force close, just add a 1 to the name e.g. 1BrowserProviderProxy.apk1 Do not delete them, if you still want to OTA update Android. Android checks for any changes to the system/app folder before performing an OTA, so you will have to delete the browser.apk and rename the two file back to stock, when it is OTA time.

Once you have restarted your device for the app to install you will need to open the browser and go into settings -> Debug and untick "use wide viewport" you should also untick the "show javascript console" box as we don't need it.
And you should be able to enjoy your quick browser without having your pages all zoomed in.
The chrome sync from the other thread should still work with this browser, but I have not tried it and cannot confirm this. The usual disclaimers apply, the apk is provided "as is".
Thanks to the original people who brought out the browser.apk in the original threads and thanks to the guy in this thread for the guide on how to keep the browser in debug mode and thanks to the other threads on xda which helped me in how to recompile apks. Hope I'm not stepping on any toes and have posted in the right place.
And here's my current favourite browsing setup on my nexus 10:

Thanks, was about to ask for a screen comparation! Awesome. However, I can't find the option that you say we have to untick (usew wide viewport). My browser is in spanish and I can't find it, where is it?
I'm not at my tablet at the moment but make sure you're in the settings menu, the debug option is at the very bottom.
I am looking at the screen on my phone and "use wide viewport" is the 8th option down, the javascript console option is the 6th option down.
I'll check where the options are on my tablet when I get home to be sure.

Oh, for me the java option is the 3rd in Settings - Adavanced. Seems it's pretty changed.
Hi, you seem to be in the wrong settings menu, you should have another option as below labelled as debug:
It is the same on here, the viewport option is 8th down. If you do not have the debug option type about:debug into the address bar and go back into settings. Have you definitely installed the browser apk from my post?
