TomTom 7 in Flight Mode - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Im wondering if theres a way to get TomTom 7 to work in flight mode as I used to be able to do on TomTom 6. Im not sure if its the rom, radio or software. Thanks

Thanks Scrawnyb. Wondering if you found that your settings made a difference for your Geocaching? I'm using my XV6800 for Geocaching (using Geoscout) and loving it. I've made your changes but won't be able to get out to cache until next week and wondered about your findings. Thanks again!

I would get a program that shows the NMEA messages like GeoScout and see if you are even getting anything. Could be your GPS chip is hosed. Good luck sending that back in if it didn't come with it turned on like from Verizon. If you are in a clear space and you have reset the phone and you get no NMEA messages then I would think that either you have a bad flash and to start over or your GPS chip is bad.
Mine was acting similar which was every frustrating. SO tonight I flashed the new radio 3.42.50 and it did not help. I then reflashed DCD 3.2.5 and my GPS magically started to work again. I now lock 4 satellites from inside my house in about 15 seconds. The only bad thing is it shows my location in Gmap and Live about 10 blocks off. If I do a soft reset it has the correct location. If I exit maps and relaunch it is off 10 blocks or so again. No big deal really, I'm just happy it's working again.

GPS Questiona

Ok, so thanks to the help of a bunch of people I was able to flash my xv6800 with the latest rado and os ROMS. I started playing with the GPS now.
I've followed the instructions in the FAQ thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363431
Enabled location in phone settings, downloaded and installed VisualGPsce and the Gps Viewer but I cannot get any response from any satellites.
GPS Viewer, when I turn it on has all kinds of info scrolling in the message box but never even hints at connection.
Before I activated my phone after flashing the new ROMS today, I saw what I thought was the GPS icon on my phone. But after doing *228 (I think that's it) on Verzion the icon is gone. May just be a coincidence but maybe not.
Thanks for any help.
Edit: What ROM, RADIO, and PRI are you using? "latest" doesn't mean much. Need specifics. You can check this under Device Information control panel.
Install google maps
set the com port to 4, baud 4800.
Enable GPS in Google Maps
See if it says Seeking Sattelites (0) and if hte number changes. If it does it's finding sats.
Also make sure you're trying this outdoors.
Lastly I'd do the aGPS fix for Verizon that gc14 posted. WOAH faster locks.
ROM iw dcd 3.2.6 radio is 3.42.50.
I did load google maps and the number sits at 0. I have tried this outside with my garman right next to it and it was able to connect.

Just do yourself a favor and do the aGPS fix. It works. Follow gc's wiki EXACTLY.

Look it over, print it out, and follow it precisely..... then fire up the GPS and smile.

Ok, aGPS solved my problem. When I read the info on it it seemed optional but I'm guessing its pretty much necessary.
Thanks for the help guys. This board is a great service!

I have NEVER been able to have any satellites find me, and I just did the AGPS fix and used GoogleMaps and it WORKED!!!
I am so excited!! Thank you all - especially gc!

I don't think you run it from command line persay but run it by using file explorer and clicking on the file. I could be wrong though as I'm still learning this stuff.

if you use a file explorer like GSFinder you can go to your windows folder find DMRouter click and hold until you get a pop up to select open then select parameter then type in \Diag and hit ok... check the wiki page my backslash might need to be a foward slash I can remember right now to damn early
Does this work for ALLTEL? My gps already does work but it takes a FEW minutes to find satellites!!
Tried the file explorer found the router but it does not allow me to open it or do anything with it .

Follow Shadow-Tech's Guide for aGPS on Alltell.... HERE
Alltel has different PDE server info. But I think you can apply the same method using that info. I believe it's posted somewhere on this site and/or the PPCgeeks site.
as a side note, for Bell users:
I am on Bell, and for some reason I didn't have to do this method to get my aGPS to work. If you install the Bell carrier cab from dcd and update the PRI, the aGPS just works. It has something to do with the NV setting? I would love to understand more about why mine was so simple. The thread that I used was this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419855
Can someone explain what the newest PRI does and why aGPS all of a sudden works? I'd be most appreciative.
Any other ideas to try I would love to get this up and running .
THANKS NITRO! I will try this out and post my results.

My configuration:

Kernel: 2.6.35.7
Build: UnNamed ROM v1.2.0
PS
I live in Russia. Can it be so, that GPS works only in US?

Really great app! Thx!
Easy way to change the gpsconf file!
I was having problems with my GPS as well where it would not lock on no matter how long I waited. I did not have this problem when I first got my phone and I'm not sure when the bug was introduced. None of the software fixes worked for me, including the ones discussed here, and the problem persisted across all ROMS, including stock.
Finally I found someone in a forum that recommended removing the battery while the phone was on. I was hesitant to do this for obvious reasons, but my frusteration drove me to desparation and I tried it. To my surprise the GPS works good as ever and typically locks onto my location in less than 10 seconds. Obviously if you can get the software fix to work for you, this is better, but this was the only thing that worked for me. Hopefully this will help someone else.

What should the agps settings in gps.conf be set to?
I already set ATT=0 and used Faster Fix, but still locking/fixing is very slow, sometimes taking hours.
Could this have anything to do with my location? I am in China now, have unlocked the phone so using on a local carrier. Last time I was in the US (using it with ATT) it worked great.
Solved - SGH-I777 GPS fix
The sirfgps.conf ATT_NETWORK_OPERATOR=0 did nothing for me on my AT&T SGH-I777.
I got that GPS fix app and gps worked but its full of spam adverts that show on your notification bar. They appear with a star infront of the spam advert.
I fixed it the old fashion way. By remembering how I fixed my AT&T Galaxy I gps issue.
in /etc/sirfgps.conf leave att_network_operator=1
change, SSL_ENABLED=1
save and exit
in /etc/gps.conf change the following:
SUPL_HOST=www.spirent-ics.com
SUPL_PORT=7275
save and exit.
now I get 7 second gps lock in Miami Fl.

Hero not getting GPS position - until restart

Hello,
I'm seems to be having this issue since I've installed my first modded rom or Radio.
Cannot recall it just now.
It does not matter which rom I have installed but the only way to get GPS working is to reboot the phone. Since then the gps works ok for some time.
Does anyone experience the same issue? Any solutions?
Cheers

I can offer 2 suggestions.
1) Give "GPS Status" a try. Android Market. **Edit: use this app to download new GPS data. Can't remember exactly what it's called.
2) Go to this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8176243&postcount=1)and search for "GPS". There are 3 files. Europe, US and Asia. Try the one for your location.
Option 2 usually works for me. I think it is compatible with any ROM.
Thanks,
flashing the radio and Heroine seem to fixed the issue.
I will keep testing it in next few days
I would also suggest the app 'GPS Status and Toolbox'.
If that fails then try a different radio.
How did you get on after a few days?

Is this a CM10/AOKP Bug?

Hello friends,
I am actually a Sense convert, thanks to the combo of CM10 and AOKP, found in ROMs like JellyBam and PAC Man...
The ONLY thing that's making me unable to use those ROMs as my Daily Driver, is the following issue:
1. Turn on 3G and GPS togther
2. Launch map and choose a place to Navigate to (Navigation is launched)
3. EVERYTHING LOCKS PERFECT! My turn by turn is now ready
4. Give it a minute or two on the road and BOOM! The phone loses signal, 3G is cut off, GPS loses its lock, and I am stranded in the middle of my destination
Give it a minute or two... sometimes minutes on end, and the GPS locks again (after signal is restored and 3G returns), but shortly soon after, the issue repeats itself.
Now, can someone please confirm for me that that is indeed a CM10/AOKP bug and all of you have this issue? Trust me, I have tested it in MANY areas, it's not a weak signal issue. If I only have my 3G on, the connection is RARELY lost (probably with bad signal), but when GPS is used WITH 3G, it's almost UNUSEABLE and dangerous to navigate with, due to the loss of attention from the road and losing your turns ALL THE TIME!
I would appreciate any help on people confirming that I am not alone on this one, and that if you guys know any fixes or workarounds for this? I would love to offer a Logcat even, but personally, I have given up on Devs never willing to do that for the issues I have reported in the past. Not complaining, just saying they are busy or just don't want to help me with Logcats.
Thank you and I hope everyone is well. Appreciate you guys reading the message.
I've been on cm10 for over a month and have never had that problem. I've used navigation for 2 hours straight without a hitch.
Are you on the cm nightlys? I use the irc builds.

I am suffering from the same issue, it persists for me on all CM10 builds and JellyBAM. I think I did what you said, but the bug did occur again (while using nav, gps and 3g signal goes out for a few minutes). I just wanted to double check what you were suggesting. When you say menu, reset, do you just mean reseting the phone after installing the GPS status and toolbox, or is there a menu option in GPS status and toolbox I'm not seeing?
Thanks,

Yea I'm thinking that's it. I'm not a 100% sure as I've not had this issue or a need to use the app. However that would seem to be it. If that fails look threw the settings for anything that has the reset option. Also being cautious is never stupid. Hope this helps.
