I've searched every combination of words for a video dialer I could use with my NEON 300. The touch dual dialer my phone shipped with has no video implementation, even though there's a front facing camera. Makes no sense. Anyone have a cab to share? Can't seem to find a solution to this one.....
Do you live in the U.S? I also have the Neon300. I'm not sure that the US carries video calls just yet. I haven't heard anything about video calls here, (i mean us).

Ok, so I've installed Skype for Windows Mobile, 3.0 Beta.
Is there a way to utilize the Sprint Touch Pro's camera for video calls?
OR
Has anyone figured out a way to attach a USB webcam and use it? Kind of stinks the CDMA Touch Pro only has the one camera.
No Skype doesnt support it, maybe on a tegra cpu in the future
skype does support video chat. The question is better clarified as:
Since Skype supports video chat on its mobile software as per skypes website, and since the CDMA version of the phone only has the back camera, is there a way to utilize the camera on the back of the phone to work with skypes option to video chat?
actually that isnt a bad idea but may not be possible yet since skype already uses alot of batter, cput and memory power
"Since Skype supports video chat on its mobile software as per skypes website"
got a link for that ?
because my x1 got a frontcam and don't support video calls
every test i've seen of even the new skype state it don't
and i can't see it on their site
when i try and record audio (mp3s) with my streak the result comes out high pitched. the stock sound recorder quality isnt very good. I have been trying out mp3/wav recorders form the market.
it almost seems to be a sampling issue.....but the recorders bit rates are all set right.....cd quality, etc....
any ideas?..... is there something i need to change....?
also.....i installed cleartune......and to make it work right i had to make it transpose to D and set A=427Hz.....i installed another tuner called "datuner"....it works fine....
very frustrating cause im a band director and really need to record things on the fly.....but not high pitched.....?
Rehearsal Assitant - can't comment on using for high quality recordings, but works for voice for me.
cool....ty ...
tried it.....rehearsal assistant still uses a lower bitrate when recording. .wav recording doest work at all....it looks like it is recording but is not......and the files will close and crash the player...
i need a solution to record at high bitrates.
man.... i have tried i think every recording program on the market..... the only one that would record at 44.1k was "Livo Recorder"..... it will record .wavs that sound ok...but at 5-10 Mb/min.... .wavs are just way too big to use and email....
all the .mp3/other recorders would record but the files came out sounding like they were being played in a slow fast forward...
this is very frustrating..... is it the streak?....is it android 2.2?
i need this to work.... i need to record stuff all the time....and .3gp at 8k is not going to work for concert band recordings....the end result is too muddy sounding.....i dont record to keep...only for review... it is an essential aid when working my band
any ideas?.....and thank you for your help
Recordings are horrible!?!? Would love to find an anwser too
I have had the same issue and I would love to know what can be done. I have tried contacting the developers of various recording apps, but get no response from any???
im sure a lot of other streak cats and maybe some android users in general are having the same problem...
this is a real bummer for me actually.....this could be a serious deal buster for me...i may have to go back to my iphone i bought the streak as an upgrade to my jailbroken iphone 3gs.... iphone sucks but at least it does what it is supposed to do...and yes to make an iphone bearable you really should jailbreak it.....
i also had to root my streak to fix several other issues as well.....lol.... i had to "jail break" my streak....lol...
like the tuner issue im having....being a band director i NEED a tuner...it is a must have....i know i could just use a dedicated pocket tuner, but..... the point is that something is totally not working right in the streak or android....being able to record these days at CD quality should be a no-brainer to developers and/or hardware developers..... i was recording cd quality back in 2001 on my sx-66(the original XDA phone...) pocket pc phone....lol....
anyway,......any ideas?
anyone else having these issues?..... have you found something that works?
Maybe list the recorders you've already tried, so someone doesn't repeat. I've been using pcm recorder for voice recognition (naturallyspeaking), but of course that's only wav. Probably the difficulty lies in the licensing required for creating mp3's.
Would ogg recording do?
A video link was posted in one of the threads here, in which the presenter said that the SGSII "supports" Skype.
Was that a dumb person's way of saying it has a fraont facing camera? Or has anyone actually ready anything specific about the SGSII coming preloaded with Skype?
Just wondering...
I hope it has video enabled Skype preloaded... but probably it won't have.
Most probably the woman in the video had no technical skills at all and just said that because it has a front facing camera... we'll see.
In either case, Skype is available via the market place, does it not support front facing camera?
I don't own a Android device as of yet so do not know. Can anyone confirm?

Skype is available in the Android Market, however there isn't a video-call support for Skype as of now, on Android.
There are a few videos/articles floating about that there's a version of Skype designed specifically for the HTC Thunderbolt that supports video calling over 3G/4G.
Perhaps that's what the person would be referring to? That the particular version of Skype for video calling could also come with the S II. Anyway this part's just my speculation.
Thats BS, I use Skype on the iPhone to do a low of video calling with my clients, it would suck if I cannot do that any longer.
What a turn off.
Going to bump this, anyone tried installing skype on the new S2 to see if video works?
someone from my local forum said that Fring has video support for sgs2
I have skype installed. It doesn't appear to have a video call option.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

I can confirm that, no video support in Skype it seems.
just audio calls on skype, no video option maybe soon in update?
Skype's days are numbered one way or the other ... or do you really think Microsoft is going to offer a competitive Android client? (Would be a first, that one.)
I just got my new galaxy note (i717) on friday (immediately flashing it with OnlyOne beta 2 (ics)) and I would like to use it for a bit of podcasting using the front camera to record myself while I read text from some teleprompter software.
I can record video from the front camera just fine, and it actually comes out a bit higher quality than I expected even, but for the life of me, when i hit the record button and then switch away from the camera app to the prompter app, it gives me an audio notification that the camera has stopped recording.
is there prompter software that has an integrated video recorder? (that'd be pretty sweet imho) or better, some way to record video while another app (that's not particularly resource intensive) is in use? - I don't mind trimming and cutting the video together (there are actually some pretty decent editing tools for android i've found) but I can't figure out a way to record and prompt at the same time...
does anybody have any ideas?
I'm rather surprised that nobody seems to have any ideas on this... could someone at least please relay to me why this isn't possible (if it's not possible)?
I would think that this would be a reasonably popular thing to do (recording video whilst looking at a prompter or even a web page or something to do podcasting stuff...
Is this something I'm going to have to write? (I have no idea how to dev android apps).
well i'm glad to see that google does a good job at finding appropriate threads - here it is, a couple of months later, and I'm revisiting the same problem that I had before - I still can't record and prompt at the same time on my i717 (now running cm9 / cm10, not that it should matter)... I still don't get it.
i don't know what to say , u searched a program on google?i believe that is here at least 1 program for your note
Video app with built in teleprompter
There is a great teleprompter/video recording app. It's called VRT2. Unfortunately you would have to downgrade to an iPad to get it. When I saw it, I was tempted o make the switch, but I don't want to give up the advanced features of my Samsung Note 10.
I'm hoping that a great Android app developer will create something like the VRT2 soon.
When it's ready, I'm ready to buy it.
I still can't seem to find anything that does this and it would be *great* for quick video podcasting... I just want to be able to record myself on the front camera while either reading my notes or looking at a teleprompter with the outline i've created for the segment.
Video recorder teleprompter
Have you found any other software to video you with front facing camera with teleprompter on screen?
I know Ipad have one on itunes costing somewhere 24 dollars or £18 which is a professional one, not tried it but I now it does record you and at the same time has all the words you want to talk about in front of you.
Keep up to date, I don't know which tablet to buy because of this problem.
Darron
Anyone else care about how bad some videos look when recorded on snapchat. I mean I tried snapchat on a Xperia U (Cant even tell what's going on) on a nexus s ( better but not acceptable), on a nexus 5 (Motion makes the video look very low quality) and a HTC one s (Looks almost normal but still some odd pixels) Tried on multiple Wi-Fi networks and settings on video quality set to standard. Anyone know of a fix? or why this happens? (I'm guessing compression problems)
Man, no one replied to this? I hate that snapchats video on Android is so terribly compressed. Sometimes you can't even make out what you're looking at. I really they can get the video quality on the same level as the iPhone. Anyone know why it's not up to par?
This is quite old but seeing as the problem still exists... bump
