I was unfortunate enough to have to wipe my faithful Lobby today to restore the factory default settings.
Now I find that the BBC DAB radio stations have reverted back to their old logos. I seem to recall that these magically updated to the new ones a while back. I have re-scanned the radio channels a few times and tried to update the software, but the old logos remain.
Not a major thing, but I wonder if anyone knows how to update them? I have no idea how they updated last time round!
Sorted
The newer BBC icons are now back! I can't tell if this was done over the air via DAB, or when I selected "Update Software" from the software menu (under Menu / Options / Update Software). I did try this several times, but it always failed.
However, this morning I decided to give it another go. The software update failed, but the logos updated. Hurrah!
by the way is there any update for the dab app?

Very very unlikely, as BT Movio (writers of the software) have pulled out of the market.

Virgin Mobile were their only client. Unless some bright spark wants to write an open source version?

Just wondering if anyone has anything (good/bad) to report about the OTA update. Figure this would be a good place to post those issues for the people who are still hesitant about updating. I have the 2.1 v3 non-root and have yet to update. Thanks.
Having issues with 2.1 I can't find ANY HTC widgets. Tried to reload the digital clock with the weather app at the bottom and realized the phone doesn't have any HTC widgets, only shows the android native widgets. Anybody else having this problem, got any advice how to solve this?
I just manually updated to 2.1 (Official) and now my weather app doesn't work. Widgets are ok, just opening the app causes a force close. Any way to fix this? Might call customer support tomorrow and tell them the OTA got to me and it won't work now.
From what I've seen around a reboot might fix that if you haven't tried that already

Haha thanks, but I've tried it several times. Also, the recovery doesn't work with the official update.zip. I'm assuming that it's because the versions are the same, but if it says RECOVERY then I'm wondering why it won't RECOVER like I'm trying to do now. Any other ways to reinstall the OTA?
I manually updated my wife's around 10 am today and about 3 hours ago, she started havin no sound issues. couldnt hear through the earpiece, phone vibrates instead of rings, speaker will not play volume. I have tried everything. Making sure all settings are in place like volume TTY. Reboot fixes it for about five minutes then right back to the same thing. Hard resetting now. If it still does it I'll probably take it in and demand a new one i guess...lol
EDIT: Should I have to reprogram on a hard reset after this update? Hmm somethings not right about that...
Ive had no problems with the OTA. I went from stock 1.5 to OTA 2.1
It seems that people with leaked 2.1 v3 won't get the ota. My friend has an Eris with 1.5 and just got
it but I didn't.

I don't think anyone who is running any leaked version is getting an update right now. There is an issue with the hboot versions it seems.
Don't worry, two things have been confirmed.
First the OTA will not work with the leaked ROMs installed.
Second, the OTA is exactly the same as the 2.1 leak v3.
This was confirmed on Android forum by someone that took the time to compare every single file and CRC the binaries. The only difference was that the leaked ROMs use a different bootloader to install as they did and the actual OS and apps are exactly the same so if you got leak v3 you got the OTA.
The OTA won't install because you are already running it.
if you have rooted 2.1 (test keys) and you downgrade to back to 1.5 any one if this will allow you to get the OTA update? i installed the rooted 2.1 (test keys) but never installed a custom ROM (the second half of the directions on XDA forum) and I still haven't received the update. but I was thinking of downgrading to 1.5 to see if i can get the update.
anyone having problems with live wallpapers on 2.1? or was this not included with the 2.1 for eris?

Unfortunately it wasn't included.
just found out about 2.1 this morning...
I'm a verizon rep for an authorized premium retailer, and one of my customers came up to me today with her eris complaining about all her contacts being gone and her album not being there... her exact words: "What happened??? I clicked the update thingy and now half my ****'s gone!" Personally I laughed slightly, then checked the software version, found it updated to 2.1 and figured the deal. Her sound is working fine, she now has a couple more widgets she wont know how to operate, and albums is now "photos", and contacts is now "People". also required a resync to get her contacts back, but now she's golden.

Quick question about TaskBar (process killer) widget. Anybody know how to program it to ignore certain processes? Like sense... I tried using it but it killed sense every time. Along with mail and the weather process, which I don't care so much about, waiting for sense to reboot every time is a serious pita though...
I previously had 1.5 stock eris. I downloaded the official OTA zip and manually installed it. I had a few issues at first.
1. I had Spare Parts installed and had set my End key to first goto home screen and then lock. 2.1 did not like that setting and so my end key wouldn't do anything except turn it on from sleep and end a call until I changed the setting to just lock the phone.
2. Couple apps wanted to be updated to a new version after installing 2.1 before they would work.
3. Here is my unresolved issue - All my apps that I had installed before 2.1 no longer have write access to my SD card.
For example Astro File Manager showed my permissions on /sdcard as dr-. Reloading the card, rebooting, etc did not fix the issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the issue.
Why did this happen in the first place and is there an easier fix than uninstalling/reinstalling all my apps?
I've had the same disappearing HTC widget issue as was mentioned earlier, but a reboot (with a battery pull) didnt fix the problem. Is a hard reset my only option?
my girlfriend installed the OTA and now only the stock ringtones work when receiving a call- she set up custom ringtones for a few contacts, but if they call, the default ringtone rings.
I was running the leaked 2.1 eris rom on a MyTouch 3g and had the same issue, so i'm guessing it's not an easy fix. anyone else seeing this?
2.1 OTA back to 1.5
Hi everyone, I had many problems with 2.1 I manually installed 2.1 OTA from 1.5. everything went smooth, once running first thing i notice I click on the HTC clock weather, and it force closes, ok great, found a trick to delete the cache for weather provider, boom works, then i find out I do infact have the 50% time without signal issue, well I figured it wasn't too big of a deal, but after basically cutting my time in half going from 2 days no charge, to barely making one day, and I've heard that it would just take time as it did when first getting the phone.. which makes sense as it was the case with 1.5, week later not much improvement, so..
I would just like to comment on my experience. It went so smooth, it was in-fact easier to set back to 1.5 than it was to initially, manual install the OTA 2.1... I downloaded the MR2 file, unzipped the file, went through the computer on screen step-by-step process, Took less than 10 minutes, and of coarse as soon as turning the phone back on with 1.5 I see the OTA msg. I'm, just praying it doesn't get too annoying..
since installing the new market i've noticed that after reboots sometimes i have to reupdate apps that i updated maybe even days before.
anyone else?
Are you sure the apps are rolling back are you "have" to "re-update" them or is there just a new update available for these apps? It isn't uncommon for a developer to have an update pushed out then realize (after it's running on a large sampling of phones) that it broke something else or a new bug has popped up and, therefore, release a new update.
Check the version number (bottom of the market description) and see if you are in fact needing to reinstall the update.
positive.
today after a reboot i had 10 "new" updates and they had all been updated either earlier this morning or in the past 2 days.
and some of those had already been updated twice.
and when looking at the recent changes nothing was newer than the last update.
I've noticed the same thing as well. Thought it was just groundhog day or something! Tried clearing the Market's cache and it didn't make a difference.

the phone seems to have issues holding things after reboots. just like hte home screen icons.
another problem.
it seems to also lose saved contacts that are new if you haven't had them backup over google yet.
some real issues with internal storage somehow?
just got the new market and after it updated i'm not getting any internet connections from the market or from browsing with the browser. i can browse the market but i can't download any app.
i uninstalled the new update and had to restart the phone to get everything back to normal, but after exiting the market and going back in, it's updated again.
any of you guys get this?
The data problem is a known issue. Never heard of it re-installing itself though.
anything that i can do to get data connection back?
are you on froyo (4.1.83), updated via OTA to gingerbread, or installed gingerbread manually via unlocking your bootloader?
If you are on radio .30, try downgrading to .15. I am currently on .30 but i think that radio is causing issues.
I fix it by enabling Airplane mode and then disabling it. It resets the radio and the downloads continue. Garbage, but whatever.
The new market is def the culprit for crappy network connection! Someone else posted about this, and how to fix and it's absolutely solved my issues! The solution? Go into SETTINGS, APPLICATIONS, ALL, click on MARKET and then "uninstall upgrade". It reverts back to older market style, but alleviates all the network connection problems.

i'm on official OTA update gingerbread. didn't root.
except by uninstalling the update, the update will continue to install once you exit the old market.
i guess it's either something that either moto has to fix or google themselves. this is ridiculous.
moto is pushing the new market to all devices now,so if you revert,it trys to reupdate
Sucks knowing that it still does this on official 2.3.4 and with official market update. I love the market look but can't use it.

Try creating a new APN with the same HSDPA settings you currently have.
(APN - phone, MCC - 310, MNC - 410, APN type - default,supl,agps,fota,dun, everything else not set.)
Guys, I'm trying to help out my dad. He has an Atrix, stock unrooted and locked. He updated to 2.3.4 last week. When he installed the new market, he says it signed him out of Google Talk and other apps, and he starts getting lots and lots of Force Closes. I had him "uninstall updates" to revert and the problems went away. Then he tried again and the same issues happened. He can uninstall updates again I guess, but eventually he's going to need the new market, right? Anyone else have this problem?
looks like the new market is causing network connection problems. not sure if there is a cure for this yet. either the new gingerbread ota is causing issues or the new market is causing the issues.
hopefully we get an update from moto or google updates the market with some bug fixes.
Yeah really not impressed with the market... im sure the bugs will get fixed soon though. It has potential.

Yeah I just had my dad test it on WiFi and the problem disappeared. Thanks for the info.
i've noticed that once the phone goes to sleep everything is fine. apps that were selected that failed to download will download while the phone is asleep.
just wish either moto or google would have tested out the new market a bit better.
I would try to find a program that can "freeze" the market updater. You can do it with TItanium Backup but you need to be rooted. I think it will only updat via WiFi so I downloaded everything I needed, then froze the updater and never had an issue. The new market is a pain in the rom.
Already a few threads about this. Please search before posting.
Cheers!

1) This is not helpful after several hours and two pages of activity.
2) The only other thread with "Market" in the title on the first three pages of the general forum or the Q&A forum is one [Q] thread about how to keep the old market, and it's a) not really the same topic as this thread, and b) newer than this thread.
So.... yeah. Cheers to you too.
Reset via airplane mode works for me
Like "ecapox" on page 1 said, just reset the radio put putting phone in airplane mode and then out.
Interestingly, you only need to do it once. After that, the data connection is still good even with reboot.
Enjoy.
How do you get the new market?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I keep getting told an update is available on the live tile, but when I go into the marketplace nothing is there! Or I get told there's 3 updates, but there's actually 2.
Might be a coincidence but it's been happening since I updated to the 12070 firmware via the cab sender. Although hard to see how low level code would affect it.
Is anyone else getting this?
I've been notified of updates with the marketplace title and haven't had any issues since updating via cab sender. I used it on a newly flashed 11501 firmware.
Hmmm I must have a rogue app causing it.
It's doing it repeatedly. Updates work fine, it's just the notification count that's wrong.
So my T-Rex finally arrived yesterday.. and I figured I'd get it set up quickly and start playing with it.
Phone: Galaxy S9/VZN/Android 10.
Watch: Amazfit T-Rex.. firmware 0.0.1.41
Loaded up the Amazfit software and it paired just fine.. and it immediately saw the new firmware (0.0.1.77) an attempted to update. At this point it starts.. gets partially through, locks up and the watch reboots. Upon reconnecting.. it generally tries again.. and again.. and again. I eventually got it to stop trying to upgrade for a bit, and saw some other weirdness.. but it wasn't stable long enough to really mess with it.
So.. I pulled out an old phone that had been factory wiped.. Galaxy S7 running Android 8. This time the update seems to succeed.. but it doesn't see the newer firmware when you check for updates. Also, I don't want to switch to an S7 on Android 8.
I tried Notify & Fitness.. and I have downloaded the latest firmware (0.0.1.79, I believe).. I'm tempted to try updating it from the S7 manually.. then seeing if it works better with the S9.
Any bright ideas? I'm surprised that this is the only place that has anything CLOSE to a support community for these watches - so thanks for existing!
I'm dangerously close to putting it right back in the box and sending it back.. because their support emails say 'average 2 days to reply'.. yikes.
Update - used Notify and Fitness on the older S7 to manually update it to 0.0.1.79.. which took.
When connecting it back to the S9 (the actual phone I need it to work with!), it showed the correct firmware but still keeps trying to update SOMETHING (resource library, I believe).. which causes the crash/loop again.
Went back and updated the resource library from the S7.. and when connecting back to the S9 it got stuck in some 'open app and check for updates' screen. Connected back to the S7 and it's happy.
Connecting back to the S9 keeps triggering an attempted (and failed) update. I can't get the thing stable enough to even see if it's worth keeping
Also - when I had it functioning enough to play with it for a few.. it listed almost all my apps for notifications EXCEPT my actual SMS program of choice.
This thing is a mess.

Hi , I’m facing a same problem with brand new trex with 0.0.1.77. What should I do if IPhone?
I decided to use the workaround to scrap the amazfit app and just use notify and fitness. No more issues on the S9
I followed the directions at freemyband.
No idea about iPhones

Hi,
Can you share where did you obtain a copy of the firmware?
