Can you share your phone's internet using WiFi? A few times, I've forgotten my cable and my laptop doesn't have bluetooth. It'd be nice to share it through wifi.
ThankS!

Hello everyone!
Got the X10 recently and want to connect it to the internet to get the contacts on via Gmail and to set up device overall.
- I cannot use my network operator's internet because it's waaay too expensive.
- There are no WiFi hotspots nearby.
So... How can I connect X10 to the internet? I tried AdHoc with my laptop, but later found out that X10 needs to be rooted first, so one could enable AdHoc connecting.
I've also tried Conectify and VirtualRouter applications, but I cannot use them, hardware limitation. Only AdHoc supported.
So I ran out of ideas. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Impossible

are you high
it is not possible. Unless you are able to tether your internet in which you made this post, then you are screwed

You need to have Win 7 in order to make Adhoc wi-fi connection on the laptop. That way the laptop becomes like a wi-fi hotspot.
Do you have internet at home with a wireless router?

How do you think?
Hi Guys. Need a little help.
Scenario: I have a wired ADSL connection in my home for internet. I have Windows 7 on my PC installed. I have a TP-Link TL-WN321G WiFi card in my PC as well.
Now, I want to share my PC's ADSL connection with my Vibrant through my WiFi card.
So far, I have failed to achieve it. I have tried doing it the TP-Link way by establishing a Soft AP through a software provided by them, but no success. I have tried connectify, no luck here either. My vibrant detects the network but never connects to it...
Any help, what so ever will be really appreciated...
Easiest way, get a $30 router at your local store. Will save you a headache. Otherwise bridge your wired and wireless connection using windows.

Well what you will need to do is allow ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the wired NIC card and allow other users to share the connection. It should DHCP the wired NIC and assign your wireless card an IP address like 192.168.137.1 and Subnet of 255.255.255.0.
Actually I don't want to buy a new router, want to use my WiFi card. And it is possible through it, so I think I should not spend money on a router...
I have tried everything... ICS is not working... Connectify is not working either...
There is some way of doing it through Adhoc network, I read somewhere but I have also read that Adhoc network is not supported in Android...
If someone can help, that would be great...
Odd because I'm doing ICS via Windows 7 and mine works perfectly..
***Edit...you might have to add in the default gateway ip and primary dns server ip on the wireless card for it to look for your wired NIC
just right click on your wired NIC and go to status and then details
Hmm... I am going to try this but do I share the internet with my WiFi card or the Virtual WiFi Miniport?
You share the wired NIC "allow other users to connect " it will act as your DHCP server and assign an address to your wireless card
Nothing is happening for me...
My Vibrant detects the WiFi AP but does not connect to it... It evens show the signal strength to be "Excellent" but does not connect to it...
Man... Its really frustrating when you can not get something to work...
So it just wont connect period?? Not even to network? Or will it connect and just no internet.... Hmmmmm
It just wont connect. Period...
Thanks for your willingness to help though...
Google "set up adhoc windows 7" to get your wireless set up properly, then should be easy. Keep it simple at first. Broadcast ssid and one you will recognize, and no password to eliminate any problems. Once configured and workinggo back and set up a password.

I have tried this Ad Hoc connection as well but I have read somewhere that Android does not support Ad Hoc connection. If there is some way around, please do tell me...
Finally... Got it working guys...
Here is the link: http://www.itgeekdiary.com/windows-7-as-an-wi-fi-access-point/
Followed it and it just worked...
Man, I am relieved...
reverse tether i guess?
trying to ultimately share my US vpn conection via my phones wifi to my ps3 ...but ... can't do that and get my phone connected to my router's wifi at the same time ..soooo...

Firstly this is a question so should be placed in the Q & A section.
Secondly does your laptop has wifi ? if yes there are software like Connectify which share the lan/DSL connection by turning your laptop into a wifi hotspot Google them and you'll have your solution.
Also they are free

Thanks a lot for the information.
I'm not talking about using my phones wifi to connect my phone to my home network. I got my internet shut off for a couple of days and want to use my phone as my internet for my house until I get cable back on. I know I could turn on the wifi tethering and have my devices use that but what I am trying to do is different. I have one of my roku players disengaged from my home network (an accident) and it will not reconnect to it (so I can stream my files from my PC) because when it goes through the testing on the roku it cannot access the internet on the home network, so it won't connect to my home network. My theory is that if I can connect my phone to my router, my roku will be able to connect to my home network because it will now have internet connectivity. I just don't know how to do it if its even possible.
I hope that makes sense.
I have a dlink dir-632 wireless n router, if it helps.
My friend u can use Commview for Wifi is google it and i think it will work for you. If u have any doubt pm me

Thx but that's not going to help me with what I want to do. That's a packet sniffer/wireless network monitor software.
