Pull a rom from the 6800? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Would I be able to pull the current software off the one I have now and put it on another 6800?
I currently have nTelos 6800 and would like to flash another allte 6800 to ntelos.
Would this be a hard thing to do?

EDIT: Misread question
If you're trying to flash the default nTelos rom on any 6800 you should be just fine. But if you're already doing the flashing thing...Check out DCD's rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420075

So just flash with that rom and install a carrier cab huh?
I do not see one for nTelos. Is there any way I can pull one from my current nTelos phone?

Where did you get your 6800? I dont see it offered on the nTelos site... was it modified to work with nTelos?
*Edit - I found it on there.
I would try the stock rom, and a sprint carirer cab... nTelos is a sprint affiliate. then just activate under your ntelos account.

I was wondering how to put in the settings so that the flashed settings would work on the phone. (such as PRL, Internet settings, MMS settings) I saw it on the above link where it had all the carriers cab files.
Would it be hard to pull the info and make a cab file from it? Cant find any info on this. Maybe Iam not familiar with the technical terms.
Thanks.

flashing phone back to normal

i have had many problems since i upgraded my phone. sometimes if i do a soft reset, my phone gets stuck in the rainbow screen and sometimes takes a while to get back to normal. i want to just update my phone back to normal since i actually want to send it into sprint. Can someone please let me know what i need to do in order to do this, thanks
either go to htc website or sprint website and down load latest released rom and install. It should be a complete install back to original radio and rom.
Does anyone know how to return my verizon xv6800 back to factory, I unlocked/flashed to get gps to work and it updated to windows 6.1 which i dont like and I want it back to factory. Verizon cant do anything and neither can htc. has anyone done this?

Yes, relocker then the ROM and Radio are actually both included in the same file this time.
So run the relocker, unpack the ROM file and place the .nbh file in the RUU folder and run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
ok not so good luck so far, have ran the reLocker and went to your links to d/l and there is no program to run them, Im relativerly new to this and need help quick what is my next step????

ok so you are saying i dont have to flash the factory radio one??
This ROM file is the full thing that includes the radio as well, so no need for a separate radio flash.
So, just to recap here for anyone still curious...
Once you run the Relocker (which will restore your bootloader to factory - also disallowing any new custom roms) then you're ready to run the Rom Update Utility (RUU) from the ROM you downloaded from Verizon or HTC's website.
the ROM update will flash both your radio as well as your ROM. good luck!

I am curious because I have all of the files and know what to do, but so far I have not had any of the problems that everyone else has had so have not needed to try it yet, so let us know that all is well just for comfort. Thanks.
In fact, all is well.
I flashed back to the stock VZW ROM (third time I think), I made sure all of my provisioning issues with Verizon were worked out (finally had the tech "kick the switch").
1) Then I proceeded to load the 2.4 bootloader,
2) then the 3.16 Unauthorized Sprint ROM w/ radio,
3) then finally installed a cooked DCD 2.3.2 ROM.
Things to note:
1) I never let the Sprint ROM boot up
2) I had no signal so ran *22802 then hit End as soon as it connected
3) Still no signal after reboot
4) No A key, MSID, or MDN issues, but I did re-enter the MSID and MDN as discussed in other threads
5) After re-entering MSID and MDN then after reboot I had signal
6) never had to run *228 to OTA program (in the past programming with *228 has reversed the effect of re-entering the MSID and MDN)
In general, I feel that the OTA from VZW sends down some programming that conflicts with the 3.27 radio...but I have nothing to prove that.
GPS is running great (I just loaded the AstroGPSLauncher)
Not sure about Rev A. It does seem snappy. What's a good site to test from the phone?
I'm happy and not re-flashing until a solid radio for Verizon arrives.
just to let everyone know i ran the factory rom and it worked perfectly, phone is back to normal, thanks !!l

This is a bit off-topic so apologies...
But I am left wondering that if you can include the Radio into the rom,
Has DCD or No2Chem tried to integrate the radio flash into the rom and see if some of the issues with the radio goes away?
I doubt separate install could be a cause of anything but it might be worth looking into.

US Cellular ppc6800 update

US Cellular is notorious for not releasing updates for their phones unless it's truly broke. So it's unlikely an official 6.1 update will ever show up from them.
I know a few have successfully updated thru non-official channels by modifying other kitchens/roms.
Hoping someone who has done it can post what roms they used and what changes were needed.
Thanks,
BTC
If you can get a ROM dump, someone like DCD could probably provide you with a carrier cab. Otherwise, you need to write down a lot of your PST settings and restore them manually, including shared keys for data.
If you can manage to get a carrier cab, then you can do the same procedure as most people. If you want, look at the guide in my signature, the only thing different would be you need to get a carrier cab or the settings for your phone company.
Is there a tool that will let me make
A dump of my ROM? I would like the ability to go back in case I screw something up.
My main goal is to get the internal GPS working, and having 6.1 would be a plus, but not as big a goal.
Thanks,
BTC
Bump...
I am in the same boat at BTC.
My employer was with ATT and I had an 8525, waiting up upgrade to 8925/Tilt next month. They switched carriers to USC, and it was 6800 or a Q. I chose the 6800.
Thanks to XDA, long ago I unlocked my 8525, ran several custom ROMs on it, and had it doing everything but my laundry. Very cool.
But now again I have a stock phone. I was excited to have GPS onboard, but I am frustrated by this old ROM.
I am more than willing to do a ROM dump if you can point me to instructions on how to do it, and PM me or something with who to send it to.
THANKS!
I already have a USCC rom dump but I have been lazy. I will try and find time today.
USCC ROM dump: ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/ImCoKeMaN/USCCRomDump.zip
USCC carrier cab: http://www.dcd-roms.com/files/carriers/
Hate to clutter up the board, but just wanted to gush "THANK YOU" for doing this and so darn quickly! If this were Plurk, I would send Karma your way!
THANK YOU!!
I... I, I think I lo... lov... I think I love you! Thank you DCD, and thanms to all the rest for the helpful info! I spent 3/4 of my shift (protecting and serving), not "protecting and serving"; I've been looking for US Cellular (wretched... ewewwww!) specific ROMs and tutorials. So many of them in here, but was unsure as to which was appropriate. I'm going to attempt scrawnyb's tutorial with DCD's latest ROM... I hope I don't screw this up!
And how would I use these files?
DCD, is this a fully flashable format? (having to download it via my phone at the moment, so will take over an hour to finish...), however, with the proper bootloader and radio, could this be flashed over one of your roms and be fully functional?
Thanks,
BTC
did your spl unlock code work for you? mine isn't working for me how did you get you msl?
I used the registry tweak that creates a log file containing the SPL code, once I had that I was able to use QPST to read the phone programming, and reload it back once the phone was updated to a new BL, radio and rom. This kept all of my data settings, and all I had to do was run the carrier cab file.
BTC
I overwrote my DMU key with the DCD rom.. will this put me back online?
Still available?
After some rebuilding and starting over, I no longer have DCD's rom. Following the URL in this thread the page has reverted to GoDaddy. Is the USCC rom for the 6800 still out there anywhere?
TIA!

If you are referring to his rom dump, it would only be useful to pull apps and settings out of the original rom. It's not flashable, mostly because of how old their radio/rom was. It is very likely that you would brick the phone if you were somehow able to flash this back.
I may still have a copy on my dead computer (You aren't the only one DCD!, lol), need a new HDD then I can see whats still in my archives of stuff.

ROM Dump Help

I've recently flashed to DCD's 3.23 ROM, and all went well; only problem is that I need to return my unit due to hardware issues! My carrier is US cellular, and I have downloaded the original US Cellular ROM Dump provided by DCD but I do not know hoe to flash this back onto the Titan... can anyone help? I have to return the unit upon receipt of the new one! Anyway, I plan on flashing the new unit, and It would greatly help if I new how to use the ROM Dump as a backup. Any direction that anyone can provide? Thank You all!!!
If your carrier's ROM dump has everything included (ROM, Radio, SPL, etc) like the Verizon one did, then you basically need to follow two steps:
(1) Relock using Titan Relocker
(2) Flash on the Stock ROM
you can find more info about this if you search for relocking
You need to Run the titanrelocker and then flash the radio and rom. Problem is there is a chance your usb wont work after the relock so you might have to flash the original radio via sd card then the original rom the same way.
Thank You for your replies; especially scrawnyb... I used your tutorial for my original flash; worked great. Lost all access to EPST though! Anyhow, I probably didn't specify well enough, the dumped ROM I'm speaking of is the one provided by DCD; I have no clue as to how to even begin to flash these files. I believe that all (radio etc.) is included, but, again, I'm not sure as to how to do it. I hope I'm not asking too much; if so, I apologize! here is a link to the files i'm speaking of; maybe that can help you help me. As for lllboredlll's reply, I don't know much of UC either! What do you think is my best shot? Thanks guys!

Flashing ROM to 6.5 on local CDMA carrier?

I currently have an HTC Touch Pro. It is through a local CDMA cellular provider. I would like to update the ROM on my phone to WM6.5 but, really would not like a brick. Since all the articles and forums I find with instructions always refer to to the major cellular providers like Alltel, etc. Can this be done with my phone and is there a way to create a backup of the current ROM on the phone if I mess up or need to flash the phone back to "factory" setting?
Thanks in Advance!
So long as you aren't downloading a ROM for a specific carrier, any Generic CDMA ROM will work fine. You should be able to find the stock ROM for your carrier here or any of the other sites related to Flashing the touch pro.
Worse case scenario, take the .nbh file in the RUU update of the stock ROM and rename it to RAPHIMG.nbh and place it in the root of a SD-micro card and do a soft-reset. This will flash the stock ROM back to the phone.
But to answer the original question, once you flash-- the ROM image that was on your phone is gone. Hope this helps.

[Q] Successfully Flashed Locked 2.3.5 to US GSM

So...I've been a longtime lurker around here since the cupcake days and am doing my first post.
After having Motorola throw me under the bus with the last soak test and Sprint looking the other way pretending nothing happened, I decided to flash the KDDI radio to my locked Photon on the 2.3.5 OTA soak. By following the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815200 , I was able to get the GSM radio unlocked with no issues. Everything works, including the CDMA radios, but for some reason I can only connect to Verizon in CDMA mode. I have a working T-Mobile sim for testing purposes, but my main account is still with Sprint until I can ditch them. I have already flashed the 12124 PRL back on the phone, but it still won't connect to Sprint. So here is the question: Is there any way to force the phone back on Sprint without loosing the unlocked GSM radio. I can easily flip between Verizon/ATT/T-Mobile from the mobile networks menu so this should be possible.
I know I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, but it would be nice to not feel completely screwed over with this phone. Great hardware, half-assed software and no support.
P.S. A huge thank you to peetr and everyone else who has refused to let this phone die.

Sorry not answering your question I just have another one.
are you talking about these instructions:
On a locked Photon 4G, been locked for quite a while (SOB's!!):
Flashed the full sbf: 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.5-4.5.1A_SUN_USC_19.0-19-release-keys-signed-USC-US.sbf
Flashed the unbrick: 2.3.5_45.4.13ota_unbrick.sbf
Rooted with Photon Torpedo
Installed the MOTODX2 bootstrap
Installed Peetr's rom: HybridGBv20locked.zip (Was bootlooping, had to do a factory reset after this part)
Took two reboots before it showed up as the Japanese radio, and if it matters, in between the first and second reboot, I tried to install the KDDI zip from bootstrap twice, both failed. After that reboot, baseband ver went from unknown to N_02.29.04P.

My carrier is switching from CDMA(Sprint) to GSM(T-mo) it would be great to switch the phone to GSM I just thought it could not be done
with a locked bootloader.
Yes, those are the same instructions I followed. Just two things to remember: If you ever get stuck in a bootloop, do a factory reset from the stock recovery (not bootstrap). Also, flash the KDDI zip from bootstrap a few times before and after flashing peetr's ROM. Once your baseband (visible in phone settings) changes from unknown to N_02.29.04P you are good to go.
I still haven't gotten Sprint to work again, but I'm not really missing it. The edge speeds on T-Mobile are faster than the "premium data" that I pay $80 for. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Does 2.3.5 have ##programming menu by chance? Also, when it tries to connect to Verizon, is it roaming at all?
Sent from my sunfire using xda premium
I have not been able to enter any of the ## programming codes. When I do switch to CDMA the roaming triangle will appear and I can dial out. However, after a few rings, a recording comes on that says "Welcome to Verizon, please wait while we transfer you to an operator..."
I also called Sprint to reactivate the phone, but they can't even see it on the network. They referred me to a "repair center" and they were more interested in selling me a new phone than fixing the old one. I was able to get service back by flashing the stock 2.3.5 blur ROM, but I loose Sprint whenever I go back to peetr's ROM. If I can't get Sprint service back on peetr's locked ROM I'll just have to suck up the etf and head for a better network. There's no way in hell that I'm spending the next 9 months on blur.

As far as I know, flashing the US Cellular SBF is what exposes some loophole that allows you to apply the KDDI radio. That stock rom that you linked is only good for taking your phone back to (almost) complete stock 2.3.5. However, I have found that after reverting to stock 2.3.5 the phone radio will not react the same way to flashing peetr's hybrid rom and you will not have access to the Sprint network.
So let this be a warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNLOCK GSM unless you have no intentions of using Sprint with with anything but the stock 2.3.5 blurred rom.
I don't consider myself a developer in any way (I'm a hardware person), but it seems like the only way to completely reset the phone back to stock would be an official 2.3.5 Photon SBF. Unfortunately, Motorola hasn't released that file as far as I can tell. I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, but I feel like a rat on a sinking ship.
Update: The ship just sank. My computer no longer sees the phone in RSD mode. Time to get a Straight Talk sim and wait for the Nexus 4.

If you're locked and give this a shot, you can go back to stock Sprint, I've had to do it at one point, after I soft bricked with the de-blur script, peetr_ posted instructions on how to do it.
1. RSD the USC sbf
2. Root with Photon Torpedo
3. Install bootstrap apk
4. Bootstrap flash the Stock Photon 4.5.1A-1_SUN-254_13.zip
5. RSD the 2.3.5_45.4.13ota_unbrick.sbf
This put my photon back to the way it came out of the box....or so close I couldn't tell the difference, and it worked fine on Sprint, think I had to re-activate it if I remember right.

I got that to work once, but I could only use Sprint on the stock rom. I lost the whole radio as soon as I flashed peetr's rom again. So I've come to the conclusion that you can use Sprint again, but only if you intend to stay on the stock blured rom. Without an official 2.3.5 SBF, there is no way to undo all of the radio/firmware changes that occur when the USC sbf is flashed.

Hmm, that may explain why I couldn't roam GSM/UTMS at all, I never tried it before I did the restore, but I couldn't roam out of the US at all with a local sim card. I can pop a sim in no problem now and it works fine. After the restore I was using the Slim Photon locked rom.

Another question, I noticed in the original GSM thread there is a download of apns-conf.zip did you have to flash this as well as the radio?
Just curious, it seems to me the ROM should already have the apn's.
No. The T-Mobile APN was already there along with Simple mobile.
