problems: usb, charging, bluetooth - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hi,
my Niki is not charging from USB, nor recognized by PC.
Orange led (charging) is on, WM battery meter says 'charging', but not charging.
Tried with 2 different batteries. Those charge perfectly on an external battery charger.
Blueetooth doesn't work properly. It can see other BT devices, fetch services, but only shows 'serial port' and 'handsfree' while on other WM devices, I can see Obex file transfer, PAN,...

extUSB damaged? if so what about Bluetooth?
A new ROM could fix something? What about Radio version?
thanks a lot!

Try with a new radio, the 1.58.21.23S works fine..

thanks Carlos, but how can I flash radio with a non working USB? (not even in bootloader mode)
could it be done directly from microSD card? I've read you can do this for flashing ROM...

Well, after trying several times/ways, I wasn't able to upgrade anything (SPL, Radio, ROM) from microSD.
But my phone WORKS!!!!
I opened it, and checked for a bad contact on extUSB port.
After inspecting with a lens, I noticed cracks on extusb contacts to the board.
I tried to repair them with a soldering iron, a thin tip, and lots of pacience.
After that, I tried the phone on a pc, and miracle! it was detected, ActiveSync connected, and most important, battery was really charging!!!!
So if you have the same extUSB problem, and out of warranty, check those contacts, otherwise tech service will ask you to replace de mainboard!

help upgrade failed & imate died¡¡¡

Hello,
I tried to upgrade my imate with bluetooth (instead of cable, because it is in my job)and now the only thing i see in the screen is "Serial v1.02" I have tried to do a full reset but nothing changes. What can i do??? Thanksss
 not buy serial cable!!!
there is an OFFICIAL UPGRADE ready and existing, but not yet PUBLIC,
it is one nice 40 MB RUU file which will uprgade your unit to english language:
Microsoft Pocket PC version 4.20.0 (Build 13252)
ROM version: 1.60.00WWE
ROM date: 12/03/03
Radio version: 1.06.01
Protocol version: 1337.16
ExtROM version: 1.60.06
Indirizzo http://xda-developers.com/incoming/rom160wwe/RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe
IT'S FANTASTIC AND EASY WHIT THE USB CRADDLE
What you may try to do, for a start, is to reinstall the ROM upgrade once again, USING THE USB CRADLE and nothing else. Better remove the SIM card before installing the upgrade. Also, make sure that the battery is fully charged. All through the upgrade process, do not touch the device.
Finally....
Next day When i was in my job put my imate in the cradle, ran the upgrade and it worked.....I am happpppppy ¡¡¡¡
Upgrade failed
I had the same problem as dherrero. However, I have no luck as him. My XDA II still dead can not be boot. Anyone can help? Thanks.
IT's DEAD
I have a MDA from T-Mobile for 3 weeks now. I find out about the rom update (RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe), tried it and got the message that the update failed.
On my MDA screen therse is only the message "USB v1.01".
Running the update again doesn't help.
Is there a solution or do I have to contact T-Mobile?
Hi all ,
One of my Friends had the same problem , he tried another computer and it works , then guess what was the problem ???? We found that it was ZONE ALARM !!!
So please check You'r computers guyes ,it might be another software makes the upgrade failed .
Thanks
Hi all!
We have to be aware, that the upgrade program says "NO PROGRAMS RUNNING ON THE PPC AND NO PROGRAMS RUNNING ON THE PC ITSELF"
It's a hard lesson i learned years ago while flashing a BIOS..... if possible, do it at an UPS equipped PC (or notebook btw) to reduce your chances of killing your device.
Windows XP has many more programs running than one would suspect. As a first measure, kill all the ones you can in the right side of your taskbar, shut down your Anti Virus and Firewall, and cross your fingers while upgrading.....
Should we also shut down Activesync? Or is it needed for the upgrade?
Thanx.
I am in the same boat this day. Please help !!! I tried to upgrade the imate threw the club imate ... i downloaded ok i believe ... i did not use the cradel just a mini sync usb cord ... i used this before many times to sync... but when i tried to run the official update it stopped and now it says only serial v1.02 when i put it in the cradel it says usb v1.o2 its dead... no light for batter scharge nothing???? no sync at all please help
ActiveSync is not involved in the upgrade process. The upgrade program runs out of this, with it's own connection and settings via USB.
I haven't used the mini cord, so I'm of no help about it.
Try the upgrade program again, looks like it failed to fully flash your ROM. (That's why you don't see the charging light, it's Software controlled)
Good Luck!
mm
Try to update your imate using a cradle connected to a pc(usb). It should work
i have the exact same problem as highlighted by the others here, USB and v1.02 screen. Question is, how do you continue to flash your rom after it fails and you put back your unit into the cradle and activesync does not sync it anymore
the upgrade doesnt use activesync so it doesnt matter. Just put the imate in the cradle(in other pc, if possible) and run the upgrade
qtek rom update problem

Desperately need help with WM6 and active sync

Here's the deal: I need help!!!!!!
I have a HTC TYTN and upgraded it's ROM from WM5 to Custels Ultimate WM6 as he got a lot of good reviews for it. However, there's a bug in it - apparently a bug Mr. Custel was aware of. After upgrading to WM6 my Active sync does no longer work when using USB.
Here's my details:
HERM200
spl-2.10 Olipro
IPL-1.04
Windows Mobile 6 Professional
CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3)
ROM Version: CUSTEL Ultimate
ROM Date: 05/05/07
Radio version: 1.41.00.10
Protocol version: 32.74.7020.18H
I run Active sync 4.5 on my PC.
I have checked that the setting for Active sync is correct on my computer and that the 'Enable advanced network functionality' box is unchecked in the USB-to-Pc setting on my TYTN
I have tried to manually put my TYTN into Bootload to see if it can connect via USB then - and it cannot even if it says USB on my TYTN tricolor screen.
I've deactivated firewall, checked to see if settings for Outlook is correct etc... etc...
I've even tried to put a .nbh file on my SD card and put TYTN into Bootload mode - but it never got past the tricolor screen.....
In other word: I cannot connect my TYTN to my PC and I cannot flash another ROM onto my TYTN to make it work properly with Active sync.
What can I do? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards,
Njål
I will try
Well I had the same problem with active sync when I installed wm6 on my cingular 8525 (hermes). Once I figured out to remove the check in the USB to PC window, I removed activesync 4.5 and restarted my pc. Then I reinstalled activesync. I then restarted my pc. I then hooked the usb cable from the cradle that my phone sits in and then placed the phone in the cradle. Everything has worked fine since then. I know for sure that check in USB to PC has to be unchecked. It will not work unless. So try that and see what happens. That is what I had to do. It would not work until I unistalled and reinstalled activesync. Hope this helps.
A little more info:
Here's a little more info when it comes to my problem.
I've read the thread regarding Mr Custel's WM6 Final ROM and after I upgraded my phone, several others has complained about the same problem as I have.
Mr Custel has written that he's aware of the problem and that he will fix it - however, I now see a new ROM upgrade from Mr Custel called Custels Ultimate WM6 ROM. The problem is that I cannot install it since I cannot get an USB connection to work.
I've tried uninstalling Active sync - restart PC - reinstall active sync - restart PC and try to connect. Several times, actually. It doesn't work
Any ideas?
Regards, Njål

Can't upgrade any ROM's- Error 260 (detailed description)

Hello,
I am new to this site, and also to WM based phones. I have run several searches on the forums for this problem and spent at least 3 hours today trying to run through the results, but I haven't found an answer that fits my circumstances. If the answer is on the forums, please forgive me, but I probably missed it because most posts start with one topic and become something entirely different within 5-12 pages.
So I have a Cingular 8525 with these stats:
Rom Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.0.0
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H
Windows Mobile 5.0
I am working from a Windows XP Pro, SP2 box with ActiveSync 4.5 installed.
I downloaded 2 different update packages. The first was the latest shipped ROM, the second was the official Windows Mobile 6 upgrade. I have a USB cable attached to a USB 2.0 port. This is what happens when I try to upgrade with either program (I have done this both with the SIM card in and without it in):
Method 1:
I connect the 8525 to the USB cable and run ActiveSync. It connects and syncs, then I run the Upgrade program I downloaded. It starts up, then I lose the ActiveSync connection to the 8525. A second or so later, I get the rainbow color bands across the screen and it sits there. The program gets to the part about how you might brinck your phone, and I continue with the upgrade process. It gets to the part where it is supposed to check for the phone's current ROM, and it shows a blank instead of the ROM's version.
Method 2:
I start the upgrade program, then when it gets to the part about connecting your 8525, I connect it to the USB cable, then run ActiveSync. After it syncs, I continue with the process. This lets me avoid the problem with the rainbow screen and it identifies the current ROM on the phone. I continue the upgrade process, and it gets to the part where it is supposed to begin actually doing the upgrade. Then the program says that there is a USB connectivity problem, error 260. It gives me the option to reset the 8525 and see if it recovers correctly (which it always does), then try again, but I get the same effect.
I can't figure out what to do, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
An Update:
On the rainbow screen, it says:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.11
USB
Ok, this time I downloaded the latest update from HTC and ran it again. I got the same result as method 1, but even though it didn't show the existing ROM version, I let it run and it actually did update!
I now how WM 5 (still) and:
ROM Version: 2.15.502.3
ROM Date: 04/09/07
Radio Version: 1.40.30.00
Protocol version: 32.73.7020.16H
So far so good, but man that startup tone is LOUD! I am guessing that there was either a problem with the first upgrade I downloaded, or I just chickened out and didn't let the upgrade continue when I didn't see what I expected...
Hope this helps someone else!

Is UPGRADING TyTn to WM6 using Bluetooth connection possible??

Hello everyone!
Can someone please advice me with my problem. I stopped syncing using the sync cable for over 6 months now since it (the mini usb slot on my HTC tytn) stopped working.
My phone must've fallen the wrong way or something coz i've tried using different cables to sync with my laptop, and my laptop couldnt identify the "device" that was being attached. I originally was able to use the cable before my phone fell, so I was able to configure the bluetooth connection after things got messed up. ( I understand that initial syncing can only be done via cable?)
I was so excited to upgrade to WM6... THANK GOODNESS I decided to "VIEW README" before I install the RUU! It specifically said the upgrade should be done using the cable... please HELP!!
Is there a way to upgrade without the cable, and use the BT connection instead? If not, where can I have my phone mini USB slot fixed?
I wish I hadnt dropped my phone! I cant figure though how the USB slot could have been affected by any type of fall??
I can still charge the phone using the USB slot, so I guess its not TOTALLY damaged.
I'd really really appreciate anybopdy's help! Thank you in advance guys!!
There is no way to flash through BT, but it should be possible to have your device upgrade through the storage card.
Read the wiki for more information
It might not even be the USB port affected through the drop but the CPU itself. In that case you might not even be able to flash via SD!
CPU damage? and flashing from Storage card
I gues it could be possible that my phone CPU was damaged... but I guess the fact that I still get to sync via BT is a good sign it's still ok. But thank you so much for the idea. I actually ran across that thread about flashing from the storage card... but i think I missed the instruction on where to get the "WM6.nbh" file to rename it to " HERMIMG.nbh" .................... the only .nbh file I saw when I opened the "RUU_Hermes_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_1.47.00.10_108_Ship.exe" with Winrar was "SPL.nmh"
When unraring the file you will find another executable called RUU_Inside.exe
Unrar that one too and you will find the image file (nbh)
Thanx Junner and every1!
WOW! I'll try that... OK... I officially love this site! I guess I'll just have to wait for my computer to finish copying the files from my phone's Storage Device... It's been copying for over 2 hours now. BT transfer seems much slower... BTW, I hope it wont matter if my phone's IPL is 1.01 | SPL: 1.04 ..........
SSPL question
regarding the SSPL instruction: according to the readme file: " *** Usage ***
For flashing ROM copy sspl-XXXX.exe (XXXX stands for short device platform name
i.e. TRIN for HTC Trinity) to your device and run it. Standart bootloader prompt should appear on screen, ..."
--- is sspl-HERM compatible with my HTC tytn?
"....check SPL version number: if it ends with ".ds" then
everything is fine...."
------ If my SPL is just 1.04, without the .ds , what should i do then?
(Re)attach usb cable and run firmware update utility.
".....In case if something goes wrong during flashing you should flash your device with ROM accepted by standard bootloader (and have another try if you wish)."
------ what does that last statement mean?

FOR EXPERT: ActiveSync/SD flashing don't work: Hardware Issue??

I bought a HTC Touch Dual (Niki100-20keys) on internet. My home, notebook, office PCs don't recognize it.
This is the original sw configuration:
bootloader: SPL-1.16.000 (CPLD-4)
ROM: 1.31.831.11 (date:11/01/07)
RADIO: 1.58.16.27
OS: windows mobile 6 professional
THE BATTERY RECHARGES WHEN CONNECTED VIA USB.
After searching this forum and talking via PM with some moderators, I flashed WWE official ROM, trying to solve the USB issue. I used the SD-way and it worked fine. Now I have:
bootloader: SPL-1.22.000 (CPLD-4)
ROM: 2.16.831.3 (date:28/11/08)
RADIO: 1.65.29.22
OS: windows mobile 6.1 professional
But the ActiveSync don't work and the SD flashing don't work anymore.
THE BATTERY STILL RECHARGES WHEN CONNECTED VIA USB.
I tried every procedure described in this forum (searched for 3 weeks and tested), but I can't see the phone from PC (also MTTY doesn't recognize it on any COM/Usb port).
It seem to be a Hardware Issue (also according to HTC On-line Technical Service).
Anyone can help me? Is there a test I can do to verify if really USB data transfer channel is broken?? Shoul I try to change USB miniport on the board??
Thanks in Advance
