Best ROM? - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hello everyone, let talk about ROM´s.
who's the best ROM in your´s choice?
Speed, app, bugs, beautifull, etc.
Regards

Well, that depends of what use, nedd and like (this has been asked before, btw ).
I keep comming back to the CLEAN BLACK rom, and customize it for myself after.

The best rom, in my opinion, is the Lilly rom. All nice things to have are included and it is rockstable. Maybe a little slow here and there, but it works good.
I´am waiting for the Niki Lite Project V2.5 - This could be even better....

My only "problem" with the Lite Project is the 3D drivers or new HTC drivers not working with some of my daily-use software. Like Swirly, TCMCP, Fullscreen Quake 1 and Hexen 2, etc...
The rom is good, but the drivers arent ok for me to use yet.

I have the Lilly ROM, i like very much, it's beautifull, works when we change de manilla theme, good speed, also have some bugs, but i hope Lilly will fixed for us.
I like Mary too i´ve tested and it´s the also some bugs, but very cool.
How about Niki lite?
I read, if we installed any programs app, the device may stay a little slow, and if we have the app cooked into the ROM this don't happens!

Which is best ROM upgrade for Dopod 818 Pro?

Hi Everyone,
I am seeing lot of updates including iPhone version. I am wondering which one is the best compatible for my Dopod 818 pro.
I am looking to the lot of experts on this wonderful forum to provide me some expert opinion. I just don't want launch some ROM and have the dopod become a brick.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Brenda
All the ROM here have been tested, at least by his cooker.
So, just pick the ROM that suitable for your need, try to read the guidelines and start flashing.
I've been flashing my dopod 818pro almost 20 times, and still OK until now.
How is the iPhone 1.1 or 1.2 upgrades or which one did you like the most?
Hi Legedug,
Thanks for the fast response. Did you try the iPhone ROMs? Did it work? I ran in to some problem when I tried it (went to three color screen and stayed there). Of all the 20 odd upgrades which did you like the most for performance as well as functionalities? Please share info and thanks.
Brenda
go for dioxda 1d rom speedy king version its speed is awsome
and if you wanna feel that your running a 400mhz pocket pc overclock
and it never hangs and running smooth
i tried like a million times flashig my jamin lool and still works fine
just flash to see what suit ya
fast rom
or updated rom
or iphone look

Yup, I tried both, it used old method for flashing, it worked (means I can see and running the program/not stuck in boot looder), but for some reason I did not use for long time.
In my opinion the first stable ROM is Varanusvincent ROM (Black edition 2), I use this ROM for several weeks.
The next is dioxda 1d, and then I tried to cooked my self, and now I use my ROM base on Glass Prophet ROM CE OS 5.2.20270( Build 20270.1.3.2 NAM).
The third one is Varanusvincent ROM (Bubble 2), I catagorized this ROM as clean (without HTC Home).
So if you want to add some feture later, try clean one, but if you interested in ready to use, pick some ROM that the features included within.
But if you want to add some feature for your need, the best is trying to cook your self (Inteks has made the best cooking software that I used it a lot, called it, Neokit)
I've tried about 10 roms. The best for me is Dioxda2's 1d. It's the fastest, stable, and low batt consuming. Combine it with 2.19.21 radio rom. It'll be great
Perfect ...
you'll find it hard to believe but in my opinion,... the best ROM so far is,... Crystal V4 from hma4. It is rather "old" brew but no WM6.1 ROM has been better in my opinion.
Jarel
Is there one file that I can download that as opposed to many links???
Hi Legedug / drTaruna:
I am trying to install the Dioxda2's 1d for the dopod 818 pro. I am looking to download the ROM and associated apps... I am seeeing so many links... is there one nicely packaged big file that I can download that has all the utilities and the ROM. Please advice. Thanks in advance....
Brenda
A quick question:
What apps do you need?
Because there are lots apps on here such as icontact, s2u2, s2V, s2P, HTC home, mortscript, throttle, quickMenu.
Or if you like (prefer) complete ROm, use full ROM such as Cloudyfa or Varanusvincent ROM.
I think Dioxda's 1d is a full rom. Many useful programs included. I only have to add some readers for my eBooks collection.
Here are some. ...
... some more cabs.
There are some useful application. Ready to use, in Maxniper's thread. Just download and copy to storage card.
Have a nice hunt
Enjoy ... .
Options I like and want.....
Hi Legedug,
I am looking for nice Dial Keypad like in the Glass or IPhone and ability to change theme, Low battery Consumption, good signal reception, voice dial, ability to close programs from Home page, good Blue Tooth connection, Good key board for Instant messaging and finally easy navigation.
Not really interested in Radio or PDF reader or etc stuff that I would use a laptop for.
Are there separate cab files that I can load in to my SD Card and execute for each function? Thanks for all your help.
Have a great weekend.
Brenda
Thanks drTaruna....
Hi drTaruna,
Thanks for all the cab files. I have downloaded them and going to use some of them definitley. Really appreciate your help.
Have a great weekend.

Sorry, I am out of my office now
I only could point out the soft for what you need.
1. Dialpad; use dfx dialpad or iphone dialpad but for changing the theme you should manually create and replace it the file from /windows folder
2. Battery consumption; use batfix.cab
3. Signal reception; use networkwizard
4. Voice dial use cyberion or microsoft voice dial
5. Bluetooth connection depend on ROM but also there are some BT connection in cab file
6. Keyboard; PocketCM keyboard, also some cooker made his color keyboard.
7. Close program from homepage; use QuickMenu plus WKtask
8. For easy navigation; it depends on taste.
Hope this help you little
lite.cab is sktools, loaded from varanusvincent's threads. Useful to clean up ram and optimized reg beside for benchmarking.
Enjoy ...

maybe. In other colour will be better
I mean, the way you wrote
Red colour is not good for eyes.
Or yotta dialer is a good one too
Yota Dialer
Cloudyfa is involed in this Program too.
But it takes really much storage. But with that one. It's really perfect.
M2D is a good one.
And I would like to have it. If Cloudyfa make a new ROM for us.
My Request for ROM from Cloudyfa.
A rom with,
[*]M2D of course
[*]Yota Dialer (Also Yota Contact too) . This Application are AWESOME. Birthday Section for qvga need remaping.
[*]Some Important Program (winrar,advanced config,PIM Backup,Winstorage)
[*]Of course his WPA2 Support
Cloudyfa, we can save some storage by pack it in ExtRom.( you know it already anyway)
Thanks MASTER
oh my God
finally the golden days are back.
believe it or not, there's a smile on my face right now !
anyway
about the rom in my opinion i prefer :
a clean stable rom
with newest build . because i love to see my rom build number is the latest. it makes me happy inside even if the older rom is better or more stable , but i like to see the latest number on my device.
with all the features like a2dp , wpa2 , UC , ....
latest htc default softwares like network wizard , sim manager , ....
latest smart dial : the one with slide to answer or slide to hang up was so nice
nice harmonic one color graphic in all programs ( i prefer the original blue )
and the most important : no today big plugin like htc home or m2d or anything else.
it's better to be optional , for example in a cab for anyone who is interested.
because some guys like me don't use them. i use all the spb programs.
another thing : the rom does not need to be full of programs like winrar and acrobat and ....
instead of that you can introduce the best cab for them, like best compatible one note or best acrobat ...
but it is good to see some usefull programs like advanced config or hibernate or quick menu or wktask or homescreen++ or wm5torage and others...
because almost all of us use these tools. although you can make them optional too.
(give the best and latest and most compatible cab for them )
you can introduce the best working microsoft voice command
or best opera browser
anyway my whole point here is that you present the cleanest rom you can and then every one can make it the way he likes for himself
i can't remember anything else for now but sorry for the long speech.
despite all of the above things i said, i will surely use any type of rom you make.
once again thank you for the past things you made for us
thanks for now that you have come back
and thanks for the new roms that hopefully you'll give us soon in the future )
Great news.....
so.. I can be the copy-cat again...
Welcomeback
Welcomeback, Bro. ...
Any Rom u cook we will all appreciate.
Rgds from Riau Province, Indonesia.
welcome back !
I wanted to sell my prophet but now I'm reconsidering.
Welcome back Master

how is this rom compared to tom's 2.06 (tf3d 2.1) rom?
for me tom's 2.06 is the best from regular (not m2.5) roms, everything works good, very stable, pretty fast and no bugs at all.
the main difference is 2.06 vs 2.08, this can be felt in some way?
anyone tried them both & can compare?
10x.

I've tried both. I like Tom's ROM and used it for some time but the Facebook integration always caused Touchflo to restart for me, this doesn't happen on Dutty's.
Therefore I prefer Dutty's Had no crashes, very stable and a few other tweaks I like.
Downside is having to add a lot of CAB's to get the look that I want but this is down to a. my personal preference and b. my inability to make things myself!
Hi do anybody know how to change to 3 rows instead of 4 rows for dutty rom? Tried tom's cab but it doesn't work. Screw up the start menu display.

On the other hand, installing a new keyboard is about the easiest thing you can do. Ezinput, FingerKeyboard or others...
Well worth it if you're otherwise happy with the ROM. I've never ever had a custom ROM that's been exactly the way I like it. But I don't complain about it, I fix it.
i would like to switch off "vibrate when keys are pressed", but i can't find the setting?!
some one please explain difference between MSVC and non MSVC versions
i tried to search but found its something with linux or c++ i don't know any of them how this difference seen to user?
all previous roms are with or without MSVC?
MSVC is Microsoft Voice Command (or Control ?) which gives you the abilty to operate your phone by voice commands.

Anyway how about Page rotation on this Rom?It's just for me or there is nothing like that ever there?
I don't like the new Acrobat reader, you can't view pages completely as full screen,I'm sure Dutty will take care of these few things pretty soon.
Is this bug with weak signal indication? I can see no more than 2 bars.
I read about similar problem with udK's Leo ROM. And there was problem with icons file, as I can remember.
With udK's R6 and Shadowlines 6.5 Stable there was no signal strength problems (radio the same).
And thanks for great ROM. I think, that you must name it R1, not R0. It is solid and fast.

Just install the attached fix (official from HTC), it will improve the signal indication.
Extract and run the exe from SD card => soft reset => enjoy

OK, thanks. It works.
Hope, this fix will be included into new release.
I am on Tmobile and live in Lincolnshire, so have never enjoyued great signals. However, I genuinely think that this ROM is brilliant. I have yet to come across a bug.
If I'm being a picky arse, I would like the Wireless to be on demand, but this is being picky.
I think this ROM is very fast indeed and this mythical beast, 'dutty', has got a new fan...Excellent
I have been using udK's R6 before but now tried this one.
Good experience. The hotfix fixed the signalbar thing.
Don't like the File explorer ex version though.
The wifi seems to stay on all the time and does not automatically disconnect when not in use, even tough it is set up that way. Anyone got this too? Drains the battery pretty fast....
sms notification doesn't seem to work in stand by either...

What is the best Windows ROM for HTC TyTN?

Hai guys,
I've been playing around with JoshKoss' (great work on the ROM dude ) WM 6.5 ROM but it eats up too much RAM and is kinda slow for my taste. Plus the limitations of the new start menu put me off too much from it.
So I was wondering which is the best Windows ROM around for this device, preferably one that has WPA/WPA2 support (also if I would support videocall that would be really nice xD)
Thanks in advance,
K.
I want to know too!
i got a 8525 to give away and it had a "custom" rom on it but turns out that rom sucks bad and doesnt even have Calculator or office or ring tones or ability to even change the ring tone to a mp3 or solitare hehe which should i use? i really dont see anyone answering us but worth a shot right?

For now use Joshkoss' LITE 6.5 ROM, works fine for what I want for now, and it's not as slow as the FULL rom: LINKY
hope it works for you bro
I like DarkVisions 5.0 Final. It's based on Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional but different than moust ROMs on XDA.
The best ROM for TyTn plenty of free RAM and an amazing speed.
Also there is another 7 ROMs versions but i like the best Final.
You can flash all and take one you like the best. Use Search write DarkVisions.
My advice: Upgrade Shamanix Grass 2.2 Lite rom.He have 31 MB free ram after boot.Very fast, start menu in Windows 6.1 is much better than 6.5.Also Win 6.1 is much more responsive and much faster. You can find test here with 52 roms.If you like stable and fast rom use Grass 2.2.He dont have `cool stuffs`,stupid addons and dont have stuff like Manilla...If you really like cool today screen install some SPB on 6.1... Windows 6.5 dont have nothing new.Only stupid start menu.or Marketplace ? pffff....
And yes Grass 2.2 have 3G Video Dialer.I tested, work very good...Ofcourse have and wpa... Test it !!! If you find faster rom,pls share with us : )
Personally 6.1 with all the 6.5 finger friendly menus etc. implemented for the best of both worlds, Ive seen most of it on alot of roms but never together, and some stuff like contact list/message list finger scrolling I have not seen so not sure it can be done, You can always run other apps for the purpose on top in stead tho. Manila on 6.1 was good, ok on 6.5 too but short on ram yeah. Start playing with ROMs and identify what you don't care, or can't live without, I'm just getting a clear picture out of all that is available myself. That's the nice thing about wm you can run anything , in stead of the millions that can only run one interface. lots of 6.1/6.5 hybrid choices, I liked Josh's or TAIs and many others out there, for 6.5 QuePC and MrDSL both did a great job especially since I like manila which i guess is a ram hog ;p
I would say Shamanix Grass 2.2 Lite rom is the fastest and the most clean rom out there + no extra addons. After you have updated search for crc cab files or schaps cab files to install addons you want - eg htc home screen or whatever. /Keca
I personally use TAI's lite; it's got the latest built of Windows (28236) and it's really light so that you can load any device-memory only applications such as SPB Mobile Shell that you can think of.
Video calls are not possible, if you got it from an American carrier, i.e. AT&T, because they remove the front video camera.
Can anybody suggest a light clean stable 6.5 rom with only tweeks/fixes but without fancy stuff?
Tried shamanix and CRC's roms (6-6.1), they are great, not bloated and fast. I'm only using hermes for reading/music/calls, I don't want to get OOM after opening a pdf along with core player.
So far I tried TAI's light (latest) but it had some 'link not found' errors, low on RAM and task manager app (forgot the name) which I can't uninstall is buggy and ram hungry. So the rom is not-so-light

[Q]need help. searching a wm6.5 rom.

Hello every body and thanks for concerning! I have long been looking forward to XDA-developers. I am a new guy here seeking for help.
I really appreciate your helping me to find a rom:
1. WM6.5 for my hd2.
(latest version will be good. but I need it runs stabile, no bug.)
2. original system, with out htc sense or something else.
(I really hate the htc sense , I like the classic theme just like win98.)
3. support chinese, no mater traditional or simplified.
4. compatible with android. (i want to try android. )
It is hard for me to read here , because english is not my first language.I am using a dictionary now, so please forgive me asking fot help as soon as registration without learning from other threads.
Thanks a lot.
Artemis had a good stable and fast ROM which is fully updated with the newest WM6.5.x and Manila version.
It does use Manila/Sence and I trully dont get it why you want the have WM6.5.x without Sence. WM6 by it self is ugly as hell and because the use of Manila/Sence makes the phone look really nice and work well

Thanks for reply.
Sometimes flowery interface maybe seems beautiful and pleasing to both the eye and the mind, but I do care efficiency and practicality more.
For example, HTC Message maybe more beautiful than MS Message, but MSM is faster than HTCM. MSN weather is much more nicety than Manila weather.
Manila use a lot of battery and cpu resource only for good looking. So I hate sense. And so do "Chome".
My friend said I am a original-crazer. My table pc interface is classic just like Win98. So please give me a link if you have a ROM with out Manila/Chome.
Thanks a lot.
