Manila 2D incoperation - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

To all Manila 2D ROM creators,
Your work is incredible and well appreciated. I find all ROMs have their strength and weakness so it's up to the end-user(s) to decided which ROM best suit their needs. In my end, I find the challenge in creating ROM for the prophet is speed and stability. I proposed the incoopration of Homescreen ++ to all Manilla 2D to improve Prophet speed because loading it seperately is high unstable. Please consider.
+++revise later.

HI damikey
I think your suggest is very good.
Each ROM maker should cooperate in M2D.

PDAViet Vs. Fantastic Mobiz

Vote for the best Rom's,
P.S. i respect both developers but i still like one of them more the other it's time for us to share our opinions and help the Flash o'holics persons to choose while am sure no one will stop flashing both for trials
respAct for this thread, I like !
im currently using PDAMobiz b4 cuz of the touchFLO.
If PDAViet integrates this in its next rom, i would definitely change,
I was pdaviet .4s and now fantastic mobiz 2b user... i like much more the second, but the first was more user friendly...
now i'm waiting for 4.0.0.0.5 touch..
I only tried PDAViet roms, but I can only say they are great, almost even better that official roms.

It must be the next stage for PDAVIET ROM. Touch on Prophet, be waiting for that news
pdamobiz b4
yesh!!!! never seee touchhhhhhh
I am using viet 4.0.0.0.5, because its very fast through Mobiz.
Mobiz isnt stable and robust yet.. thouchflo is unusuable now..
I've tested both of the ROM and even if the touch one is really nice, it's very slow with a Prohpet G4 (195Mhz) for the moment so I will say.... PDAViet for me
see you, Bap
I would perhaps wait n test the pDAVIET 4.0.0.5 Touch n then write my views would be more just.........
I prefer PDAViet's ROM
I respect both but personnaly PDAViet's 4.0.0.5a ROM is the most stable and smoothest one I've ever tried. Thanks Cloudyfa from Vietnam for your great work.
i have used PDAVIET Roms for a long time and i think it is the best.
Fantastic Mobiz Roms are not fit for my phone and the speed is slow.
but thanks all their effort.
The bluetooth audio quality of PDAmobiz is fantastic (though sometime have activation problem), I am using b4.
thanks everyone on your thoughts, for me am running PDAViet 4.0.0.4SSE version it's too stable and has a long battery life time that lasts for 3 days.
more over i used the dynamic OMAP dynamic CPU scaler option that varies the CPU from 69 upto 247MHZ also reduces battery drain most of the unused times to less than 30 mA.
plus the sound is very clear when making calls, or using skype, the sync is very fast, file browsing is also very fast than all the rom's i've used before.
of course i would love to have the feel of the touch flo, but when using the fantastic mobiz touch version i found that it was useless @ least for me cause i open many other programs and after all the touch menu's are just short cuts for the speed dials and programs, using resco file explorer today plugin may do the same but still HTC interface is the Best.
but if it slows my PDA then i dont want it.
so thanks Fanstic Mobiz Team and PDAViet Team really deserve a night with britney spears
I use b4 rom and I like it cause look like touch
I know it to Slow but I think a litiebit for me
^^

S200 novice

Hi,
i've just buyed en M600/S200/Prophet on Ebay. It has an WM5 version on it.
I would like to pass it in WM6. I've read the Guides (hard spl + updaterom) but now i don't know which version is the best. I would like for my rom :
- speed
- reliable wifi : SIP
- reliable bluetooth (tomtom)
I'm not so fan for the 3D Touch thing if it slows it down.
So which one are you using ? Is there a poll somewhere ? Any advices ?
Is there anything else I should update
ROM : 2.10.1.30FRE
Date : 2/9/06
Radio : 02.70.20
Protocole : 413.1.03
Rom ext : 2.10.1.111
Version d'opératuer : 13.10.2.111
Thanks
I use Prophet Shadow Vista My Edition. I think it is very fast and I like the Style. TomTom starts in 20s.
If you want a clear rom, use Korand 3.1. This is the basis for a lot of roms.
Check it out...
HaRdy
I have tried many Roms by all the great chefs
It is personal taste, it you want a clean or full flavoured. I prefer full kind myself as the speed difference is not too apparent. Im using varanusvincents diamond 2, its fast, pretty stable and as far as i can tell, bug free. check it out.
Hard SPL and try a few, but be warned, trying and playing is addictive Ha Ha.
Have Fun...
The best advice I think would be to try a few ROMs out, and see which you like best.
VaranusVincent and Dioxda2 are always making new ROMs!
There are some ROM benchmarks here and in the thread referenced.
Thanks for yours answers.
I've installed the Diamond Clean version and it looks OK
Thanks to all developpers who invest themselves !
Another question : is there en optimum speed to overclock the Prophet ? I saw that you overclocked it to 286. The battery doesn't drain off to quickly ?

Pointui 2.0

UPDATE: many themes for pointui 2.0 released:
check out http://community.pointui.com/topic/theme-vizta-v10-1
very pretty...can we have a rom with this burned in ankit...its MUCH faster than touchflo!
Hi...
new version of PointUI released today...
Looks VERY exciting and pretty...am going to try it tonight on my gene 3400i with sumit's manillavanilla ROM after disabling touchflo on it...
My earlier experience with pointui ver 1.51a was QUITE good apart from some stability issues...
This one must be better...and faster than other UIs.
Shall post details once i have it on my system!

Hey thanks for the info buddy. Tried it. First 15 minutes impression:
- Display like a today plugin is good as it allows one to use the tradional start menu too.
- Animations are cool but a bit sluggish on gene.
- Memory usage is almost double the TouchFlo's :O it hogs 8091 KB of memory, touchflo's manilla 2D shows around 4500 KB.
- Not as responsive as Previous Version or as TouchFLO.
-Slideshow didn't worked at first go, had to configure it twice to get it to work.
-No start menu icon created. Will check if it works as a today plugin or something.
So overall impressive piece of work, but requires a bit of tweaking from the developer's side.
Checked it after removing M2D from Sumit's MVUltimate ROM, honestly didn't impress me much. If anyday i will switch to eye candy with this device, I will definitely part with M2D at least as things stand now . I believe it has miles to go before it can come into compettition.
surely it isnt a fraction as pretty as m2d...maybe we'll have to wai for the ver 3.0
it might be much faster however if burned into the romi feel!
what say ankit?

Cooked it into a ROM derived from MVUltimate by Sumit (krazy), Not much impressed though. Got it to work. speed is ofcourse improved, if you want, I will post a link from where you can download and check in your Gene (BTW I am not an experienced cooker, so don't blame me if your Gene is bricked, Hey it worked for me ).
hi...
great work...
i tried it on ankits rom...and well speed is PRETTY good...but eye candy is anadequate...and honestly, the speed and stability of ankits 6.5 vs rom has me hooked and im not changing my rom till ankit releases a newer version!
...but great work mate!

Favorite 6.5 build?

Da_G
As Anryl said, 220xx is based on RTM (21234), as such is old, and it's SEMC branch (Sony Ericsson) - incorporating their requested changes (that slider on cHome being one of them)
I think you are mistaking "RAM Cleanup" for "Not running test code used to add new features" - indeed if this is your priority you really should be using the RTM build 21234 instead of test builds

So I start school again in a few days and I would like to build a solid ROM. I have been running at least every other kitchen from Da_G and I can't remember the best ones. I remember one rom booted with 28% memory (typical now is 34+%). If I remember right 21234 WAS a great rom, any suggestions?
I plan on using this guide to "trim the fat." I like a light ROM, no msvc or tf3d, super light.

23016 seems quite famous, but I am using 21928, but to be serious, as a daily user I hardly care about builds but about those cardinal issues which are still unsolved like battery, stability etc. Although some of chefs did well but the age which Josh, Medkid or Abu, brought to Kaiser is still missing. Dont know if this paragraph going to help you but its more like an observation of an heavy Touch Pro user.
Good Luck...
thanks
Thanks for your input. This morning I put together a clean Rom from 21932 and it runs and boots at 26% mem! Nice but the little magnifier is annoying.
I stuck with 21222 w/21510 SYS & XIP fo rits stability.
Yea I like 21222... but the later 23xxx builds are quite nice too. The 23xxx builds have a lot of new functionality like movable start menu icons and now are beginning to look VERY different with the X/Ok buttons on the bottom taskbar.
My current build is 23016 which runs pretty well. I am going to start toying around with 23025 because of all its new features. I think for stability though 21222 and 23016 are my favorites. Both are some of the fastest builds I've tested, 21222 being the best but lacking some features.

Manilla 2.5 for Atom Life?

The fantastic HD2 came out with Manilla 2.5 (HTC sense). Anyway for porting this over to the atom life?
I hope this is possible, even though I understand that the HD2 has a far far better processor that can handle the load compared the atom. There seem to plenty of 6.5 ROMS - any manilla 2.5 or even 2.0 ROMS?
Well, the Atom lacks good 3D support. So in the end it's not possible to have Manila 2.0/2.5 on our Atom. Next point is that the Atom has only 64MB of RAM - this is definitly too low to run manila smoothly. And it looks so that no one is even interested in porting Manila 2.5 to QVGA.
