First post and I'm pretty new to flashing, so am a bit nervous about it. I've done extensive reading on this forum and have got to confess to some confusion - so please be patient with me!
First of all, I'd like to understand what USPL, SSPL and HARDSPL are? I think I read an explanation somewhere, but can't find it anymore.
I have managed to get HARDSPL 1.16 onto my phone and now that WM6.1 is out, I'd like to flash that version with the new HTC SSPL. Can someone please explain the steps I need to follow and how do I remove HARDSPL?

i just got the wiz and LOVE it! i stumbled on this site SEARCHING for a sim-unlock ... provided by ANTC (thanks) i got it! now i wanna tweak a little or a lot! but ... again i'm a noob with about no experience at this and need some insight (more like a held hand) on how to 1. find a good mod and 2. a detailed explanation on how to use it! i REALLY want to flash rom but need help and i'm tired of going through post after post! (i've been at this for DAYS!!!!) help guys...PLEASE!

There's no substitute for reading the posts. In particular, you need to read the first three stickie posts on how to CID unlock the phone: You have to either soft SPL or hard SPL. Your choice. Verify by checking the SPL IPL numbers.

Hey guys. I just bought a Hermes, switching from a Wizard. I just wanted to make sure i've got the facts straight. So to upgrade the ROM on my Hermes (which is currently a stock At&t WM5 8525 ROM) i need to first CID/Sim-Unlock the phone, flash a hardspl to it, and then i can flash any wm6 rom i want that is posted in the WM6 forum for the Hermes? Thanks, and sorry again for the post. One of the guides said if i was unsure about anything, i should ask.

Dear All,
I have read so many treats for upgrading (New Method).
I am not expert in this.
I have upgraded my Neo form WM5.0 to WM6.0 ,now on Transformation 1.1.
As after reading so many treats seem so many user are seem to be confusing to use new upgrade metho.
As others are doing in a click need to admit on their understanding.
Can any one answer on some of my question ?
I am sure this will help in removing my as well as others doughts.
1, For Hard SPL.
After Hard SPL is my current operating (Transformation 1.1 WM6) will remains the same or only which colour screen will apear on it and I have to update withs some WM Rome.
2, If Hard SPL donsent affect the existing rom.
Then after doing Hard SPL i just need to restart my Neo --> connect to PC
Through Active Syn. and need to exectue ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe from the folder with the ROM.Thats it new WM will be update on my Neo.
3, If I had Hard SPL once,
I read that once you have Hard SPL then no need to do it again,
does it mean once i have done Hard SPL then for any WM i just need to run WM rom that it no need for any Hard SPL.
I am dam sure all Great Gurus of this form is dong or else playing with all this upgradation process for WM 6/6.1.
All of us who are confuse on this new upgradation process will be really thankfull if some one just post some documents with sceeen shots for complete process form beging till the end to WM 6/6.1.
I know all those information are avilable on this form, also tried to read as much as i can but got confuse.
Seeking the answers form Gurus.

Your questions are a bit difficult to understand, but hee.. not everybody is educated in the English language...
I think I did get your point, so I'm trying to answer your questions:
1) HardSPL doesn't affect your OS, it only replaces the standard SPL. This makes it possible to flash any ROM with the RUU instead of only the Vendors release. Keep in mind that this universal ROM has to be in a nk.nbf format.
2) I did answer that question in point 1: Yes after a succesfull installation of HardSPL (you can check the systeminfo at startup) the only thing you have to do when you want to upgrade is to put the nk.nbf of your desired ROM together with the RUU-package and run the RUU when your device is connected through ActiveSync.
3) HardSPL stays resident, that means that you only have to execute that step once. Keep in mind though that most official ROM's install a complete firmware-package: OS, Splash, GSM and SPL. If you install such a ROM the included SPL will overwrite HardSPL. No big deal, but you have to install it again when you want to flash a homecooked ROM again.

I know this has been answered probably but I got confused as most of the posts talk about 7500 or 7510 and SPL 1.2 or something higher.
I have a HTC x7501 with SPL v1.10.0000 and the IPL is v1.00. My radio version is 1.47.51.00 and ROM version is 2.19.453.4. The OS installed is Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
My question is can I upgrade to AP4 rom? Do I have to unlock my device first? It does accept different SIMs now. Is there a step by step instruction to do the AP4 rom upgrade specific to my model?

Also the link for the Olipro video does not work. Is there another link for this? Am I correct to assume that the unlocking/upgrading is similar for both x7500 and x7501? As the tutorial is for x7500.
I will appreciate any help in this regard.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Good advce from Rory there and also I have given this advice lots of times before and to you no different. please go HERE and read and learn, if you TAKE YOUR TIME AND READ you will learn. Please Please Please do not try to run before you can walk, or your Athena will be Bricked. I have been flashing ROM's for years now and still make the occasional mistake through rushing in to fast. AP 4.0 is a very good ROM but there are better ROM's now in my opinion. When you are READY try one of Michy's ROMs on spl 1.2.
