Can anyone point me to the correct registry entries to change the default "Hide Keypad" on the phone to "Contacts".
TIA!

hello all,
im a frequent to this site, although i dont own a xda.. but i like what you guys accomplished till now ...
now.. my question is: in jeff's kitchen, there is an option "Lock all keys except power button while off " which works for pp2k2 devices.
anyone can tell me how this tweak works? is it a special programm or what?
thanks in advance, banshee
No, it is not a special programm, but you can also set it manualy in your settings of the xda. I think it will only set a Option in the registry...
Regards
Stefan
It's a registry setting. "Funny" thing is that WM2003 stores the setting in the same place in the registry, but somehow resets this registry value to its default when it cold-boots, which is why I made the setting "PPC2002 only".
hmm thats a pitty... i would have liked to enable the same setting on my ipaq...
could you show me where this is located?
im not in the position to create my own roms at the moment - but id still like to try it
As the "Lock Buttons" facility is under MORE on PHONE>OPTIONS in PPC2002 (along with auto-answer) and MORE does not exist under WM2003 (at least not with a 4.00.11/4.21 combination) is it possible to manually add a setting in the registry to activate auto-answer? If so, what? What is the entry for PPC2002? Could we try that?
I've never edited a registry before so I'm a bit timid to move forward without assurance here. Quick question:
When implementing the hack mentioned here:
SMS Notification Hack
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357306
Do I create a new key and type the strings in it or should I be able to find an existing key?
I can't find an existing key in HKLM|Software|Microsoft|Inbox|Settings....which, btw, doesn't make sense to me because how else would the OS get the instructions to put that annoying message on the screen in the first place?----it's acting as though there's currently a key somewhere that says "HKLM|Software|Microsoft|Inbox|Settings|SMSNoSentMs g = 0"
Thanks
I may have dragged on a bit in my post. All I need here is a two word answer:
new key or old key
Thanks
If you have followed that path of keys in the registry editor of your choice:
HKLM -> Software -> Microsoft -> Inbox -> Settings
and there is no value named SMSNoSentMsg then you must create it as a new value of the type string.
I can understand why it does not make sense to you that the value would not exist but many programs will use a default behavior if there is not a registry entry to define the behavior.
I think you are also confusing the term key and value. They are not interchangeable terms when talking about the registry and if you are not confusing them then you are looking for the wrong thing. If you think of them in terms of Windows Explorer or MyComputer then a key is similar to a folder and a value is similar to a file that exists in that folder. In regedit you will penetrate through keys to get to values.
I hope that helps more than it confuses.
Ks.
ive always had to create both the settings key and the SMSNoSentMsg entry
I have search all over the fourm and cant find an anwser. Can you disable the text message sent thing after you send a text message, it is really annoying me.
Thanks
Go to the "Sounds and Notifications" section in the Settings section (from the start menu).
If he has verizon, that won't work...
You have to manually edit the registry...get a registry editor like resco registry and navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox
Create a new key called Settings. Inside HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings create a new DWORD value and label it SMSNoSentMsg, and set its value to 1. Exit out of the reg editor, soft reset, and it should be all set.
I do have Verizon. Thanks for all the help you are a savior.
When I try and send a text message using the numeric keypad (rather than the QWERTY keyboard) the input defaults to XT9.
I cannot for the life of me work out where the setting is to change the default to non XT9 input.
I note their is a cab file on here to remove XT9 all together but there must be a setting somewhere.
Any clues?
Only a setting in the registry....
You need the cab ...sorry..
Changed the registry to start up with the default keyboard maybe?
REG:HKCU\keyboard layout\preload\1::text:00000409
REG:HKCU\keyboard layout\preload::text:00000409
This disables the Windows applications that start up via keyboard shortcuts.
You don't need a cab to change this. See here.
Please help!!!
Hi i just flashed new official rom: RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
released on 11 oct 2010 by htc. There is no longer screen setting in the options menu?
I have located in the registry under GUI where to place the entries 1 folder called Font smothing and one called clear type but what entries do i need to make to enable them both?
100. Enable Align Screen Calibration in Settings
Certain US roms or custom roms do not have the screen calibration option showing in All Settings, System, Screen. This allows you to tap on crosshairs to calibrate the screen. To enable it just use the registry tweak below:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Pen and change from 1 to 0.

Yes But even then font smothing is not visible, that was only availiable through the quick preferences-screen not in all settings screen in previous roms
just dont want to have flash back to an old rom then back just for these settings after spending most of a day re-installing programs back on and changing settings to find these two missing.
where exactly was the font smoothing setting? i don't think i've ever seen anything labeled like that. just cleartype which says "smoothes the edges of screen fonts"
reg for cleartype is....
create the registry branch
hklm/system/GDI/CLEARTYPE
it doesn't need any keys or values, the branch existing is enough to turn on cleartype
hklm/system/GDI/CLEARTYPE already exists yet is not activated so how do you enable it? what entries need to be made in this folder?
font smoothing setting is also under hklm/system/GDI/ the same again this entry exists what entries need to be made in this folder?
in cleartype settings is only offonrotation
some apps require cleartype turning on within them. resco explorer for instance. scan your registry for "cleartype" there are a few hits.
Update half way there
Managed to get cleartype working in all progs and enabled thanks to another forum,
Just now need help to get font smothing working
how you did it?
How you managed to enable clear type in new rom. Pls help i cannot.

nothing else goes in that folder, the folder itself is all that is required to tell winmo to use cleartype. (At least thats how its supposed to work, thats how it works on non 3.14 roms)
