Is there a good way to assign different alerts to text messages PER contact? Ringo is Glithy and costs $ and I don't want to use Photo Contacts PRO, its way too much for the little I need.

Hey everybody,
Does anybody know how I could set up a filter on my sms inbox so that messages go to different folders? For example I recieve SMS alerts when I get a new email and I would like these alerts to go into a separate folder. Is this even possible?
I imagine that quite a few people could make use of such a filter and it may even become commonplace with the volume of junk messages now bombarding our phones!!

I need to send regular texts to the same group of people every week (for 5-a-side footy) and want to set up what I would call a group. I can't seem to find anyway to set up a group in my contacts and just wondered if someone could point me in the right direction?

However first I want to see if I can create a group using the standard contacts app and then use the standard sms app to insert a group to send an sms to?

Is there way to see the SMS by person and not see all of them.
Like a 'group by' clause in SQL.
Basically see all the sms from ONE PERSON as I entry in the SMS and not all of hs messages as different entry.

I know the stock Messaging app has an option to remove text messages over xxx messages but it doesn't work. I have 700+ text messages with some of my contacts and I'd like something to automatically remove all the messages over 200, i.e. I'd like no more than 200 texts per contact.
Anyone know of a program that will do this?

go sms pro has a remove old messages feature. its pretty good actually. plus its free of charge!
I've been looking at alternative SMS apps because I wanted to get rid of the MMS showing as slideshows and it looks like the only one doing it properly (displaying the image and text inside the conversation view) is SMSdroid, which doesn't have many other functionalities. Is there another SMS app doing that? I tried GOsms, Handcent and ChompSMS but I could have missed their option to do so.
Another question I have is why so many SMS apps run a service constantly while some don't and still receive incoming SMS? I try to keep as few services running in the background as possible to save battery life.
