How do i know i got built in gps? its a jap model X01HT
In my settings i only see Eternal GPS with the cooked rom im using
Im trying to get this going with tomtom
The Hermes doesn't have built-in GPS.
You need to purchase a bluetooth receiver and have GPS software. I use tomtom. Works brilliantly BUT remember if you get a reciever, make sure it has as many channels as possible so it has quick & accurate signal reception.
Mine is a 54 channel receiver and I got no complaints, my 16 channel receiver however....... 10 minutes for a signal lock is somewhat excessive and forget it if its a cloudy day...
hermes 100 definitly not have internal connections/antenna for use the build in gps chip, but and the HERMES200?
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=514&c=vodafone_v1605___wireless_pda_1605_htc_hermes_200
??
There are no real internal differences between the 100, 200 and 300. So No, it won't have the internal GPS chip.

Hello, where can I get the best price (free is obviously the best) for TOMTOM2 bluetooth software for my XDA2
Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.
Thanks
Damian
The answer depends very much on where you are and what you're after. TomTom2 has been superceded by V3 in Europe.
Also there is no such beast as TomTom2 Bluetooth, it's just TomTom, if you're PocketPC has Bluetooth and you have a BT GPS then it'll work.
What GPS Receiver do you have?
I have a variety but the two I use daily are a Leadtek Bluetooth GPS and a Royaltek RBT-3000 Bluetooth GPS with Datalogger.
I was wondering if there are any GPS Antennas available to connect with the HTC4350. I found antennas for other versions of the HTC but haven't found for HTC4350. Are they going to produce some sort of GPS Antennas for the Herald?
The thing is , when I scan some areas , the software detects the wi-fi routers but the signal is very lowwwww and therefore I still cannot connect. Maybe I get some more luck with a GPS Antenna hehe. (if it's worth it)

Most GPS hardware are now bluetooth or USB. Most are universal so just config it on Setting>System>External GPS.
Having an WiFi antenna would only help you receive WiFi. Some Nav. Programs allow you to use wifi as a pin point; but not in real time movement.
Good Luck.
hi all, this is my first question hope i do it right. i have htc hd2 and im trying to use igo navigation but the igo software keep loosing gps connection. can anyone help?
Does your vehicle have window tints? that may block the GPS signal
I use IGO8 on my hd2 and its very stable, fast and on my last 200 mile journey lost signal only twice, but picked it back up in seconds, as azlan96 said, your car may be blocking the signal
Try using it when you walk around and see if it stay up and running then
I have recently upgraded my HTC HD2 to ROM 3.14.531.0 (04666) WWE (1.66... before) and Radio 2.15.50.14 (2.06... before) and my WiFi router signal strength became very poor.
Now the signal is poor even at 0.5 - 1 meter away. Before the upgrade the signal was good even at 10 meters away with 2 walls between the phone and a laptop.
Also tried to set "Best Wi-Fi Performance" on/off and nothing changes.
Also tried to use 3rd party WiFi Router software called WMWifiRouter - same problem.
Ok, then I have downloaded Android MDJ FroYo HD v. 4.1 for HTC HD2 and started HTC Hotspot app. The signal was perfect even at 10-15 meters away.
I think that there's some hidden settings which can help improve WiFi signal in WM because in Android the signal is strong by default.
Can anybody help me with WiFi router signal improvement in WM?
Thanks in advance!
i had the same problem, so i rolled back the radio to V2.12 all is well now.
check out the rome dev threads on how to do this.
Thanks for your advice!
I also thought the problem is in Radio BUT as I've told WiFi Router works perfectly on the same device when I run it on Android OS.
So it looks like the problem is in some WM settings or drivers but not in Radio version.
I'd prefer not to downgrade the Radio but to fix the issue in another way.
Maybe there are better solutions???
upgrade the radio version - same advice as above
Same problem with WiFi
Hello, I have exact same problem with Wifi Signal strength and I have the following software versions: OS: 5.2.29148, Manila 2.5.201914.0, ROM Artemis 44.0 WWE, Radio 2.15.50.14. So everything is latest, I have nothing to upgrade. Problem is with Artemis ROM I can't downgrade the Radio, it says in his thread that a lower version won't be compatible ( I am at 3m from Wifi Router with 1 line of signal, barely connects and when I put the phone down on the desk it loses the link completely, even with Beste Wifi Performance on. I am absolutely sure it's not the router because with my laptop I have full power and datarate. If I turn WiFiRouter (the embedded app) on and leave the phone in exact same position I can go at 2 brick walls away and still have 3/5 signal strenght on my laptop when connected to the phone and internet works ok. So it's not only in Android, I can bet it's some sh*t setting in WM. Please help.
the temporary solution I use is to change power mode in advanced WiFi settings to the left one - "maximum efficiency" or sth like this (sorry, have non-e\nglish ROM, so don't know the proper names)

Best Wifi Performance is called and yes I tried with that on also and same results
It may be that the aerial has disconnected. How is the FM Radio & Bluetooth reception?
i have noted that my brother's tmobile 3.14 rom hd2 has a slightly weak wi-fi antenna in winmo, even with wireless n mode activated (though only at a fairly long distance unlike yours)...but it pulls the signal and works well in android...my leo (india), 3.14 rom works without problems in wino and android at the same distance...... i guess its with the tmobile specific winmo rom/radio?
I personally own a 3g WCDMA version of zpad, which i believe it is the same as g tablet from hardware aspect. except with more memory and internal 3g card.
i opened up the zpad and found inside is a mini-pci of Ericsson F3307 WCDMA 3g card for the 3G connection. I knew the linux driver F3307 and F3507g (with built-in GPS) share the same driver source code file, It will be nice to have built-in GPS and therefore I decided to give it a try.
I bought a second hand F3507g and plug into the zpad to replace the original F3307. It looks really good at beginning, the cellphone antenna indicator show full signal strength, When I look into wireless & network setting -> Mobile network -> Access Point Name. I was able to see a full list of provider that available, which means it is working. The SMS works, I even received few message while i was play around with F3507g.
Unfortunately, for unknow reason, i wasn't able to get connect with 3G network, I am not a hardware expert, so not exactly sure why APN is available but just can't get connected.
and as for GPS, nothing show in the setting menu to indicate the availability of GPS.
nothing really got work actaully, but it seems if some know system better can get both 3G and GPS work relatively easy!
anyway, for these who want a 3G on their g tablet, Ericsson F3307 maybe a way to go! the 3g WCDMA firmwares are available here in China.

I belive we are missing the connector for the module which would rquire delicate soldering

The connector is not soldered on, but the soldering isn't that bad since the connector is a through-hole component and the pads are quite large.
That's true, it didn't seems too difficult to solder these. With little patient and some skill, it shall not too difficult to put Ericsson F3307 into the g tablet and get a 3G connection. The 3G firmware is also available in Chinese z-pad forum, and i believe that TNT lite also use 3G firmware.
What really bother me is why F3507g doesn't work in 3G while I was able to receive SMS and get a full list of APN. and I have no idea how to enable the GPS which make this modification all senseless to me.
