Suggest some alternative (less memory and power) plugins/apps? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I'm going to do a hard reset and I've been considering trying to find lower memory alternatives to some of the plugins and applications I use. Less power use would be good too since right now I'm charging my phone several times a day.
Currently I run SPB Pocket Plus on the Today screen. I also use it's Close Button feature, Taskbar Battery Indicator, occasionally the Buttons, and the PIE and File Explorer add-ons are nice.
In the first tab of Pocket Plus I have SBSH Pocket Weather running with a custom theme and icons. I tried SPB Weather for awhile but it would not establish a data connection if one did not already exist so the automatic updates weren't working. The other tabs simply contain links to commonly used applications and Control Panel applets.
Under Pocket Plus I have Home Screen++ running with a custom theme just to display the full date, owner contact information (the Owner Info plugin takes too much space for me), message notifications (texts, email, missed calls, voicemail) and CPU usage, free memory, etc.
Under Home Screen++ I have SPB Diary to display my appointments and I like the little calendar that pops up when you click on the calendar tab. I also tried SBSH PocketBreeze (I think that was the name of their Diary clone) but it has display problems with Pocket Plus.
Other than Today plugins, I also have FTouchFlo running only for the ability to finger scroll in programs. I disabled all its other features. S2U2's iLock.exe runs in the background as well. I have a MortScript that kills S2U2.exe on bootup and when the phone is unlocked so the full-fledged app is only in memory when the phone is locked so it isn't taking too much memory but if anyone knows a screen locking program that takes less than 128k (this is not very much) while idle, I'll try it out.
Here's what my Today looks like:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
On bootup I have about 20-21 mb free on DCD 3.3.4 (which has 26-27mb free on boot by default).
I recently tried M2D and thought that was great except that it didn't have a decent calendar (only shows one item) so I can't use that. I tried SPB Mobile Shell with a M2D theme and it just wasn't the same at all. I don't like it. I also tried Throttle Launcher and found it to be much slower than Pocket Plus. I generally prefer functionality over looks so I don't need anything with fancy effects but M2D did look really nice and I do like a weather display with some nice graphics.
Thanks for the help all, apologies if this is the wrong place to post.
I still hate that roaming is enabled by default when I soft-reset the phone (you can see the icon).

I use PP 4.02 primarily, so this is my two cents:
Dump: Home Screen, Pocket Diary, Pocket Weather, today plugins in tabs, and touchflo
Substitute: Quickmenu (free) for battery/memory info (and many other lightweight features); TodayAgenda (free) for Pocket Diary; HTC Home and Customizer (free) for Pocket Weather and other stuff; and PP scrolling for Touchflo.
This should help battery and memory.
My today screenshot attached.
Hope it helps

Does the scrolling feature of Pocket Plus work in all apps? I got the impression it was only for the default File Manager, PIE, etc.
I'll take a look at what you've suggested. Thanks!

There's a pretty extensive list if you look in the Pocket Plus setup for that feature. Also, if you go to the SPB Club forums for pocket plus, there is a long thread about scrolling which covers how to go about enabling it through registry edits for many more apps. YMMV depending on what you need it for, but its a big savings in memory and performance, imo, vs touchflo.
P.S.- not this this is my dream setup by any means, but with the memory challenged Titan (even with the fantastic DCD 3.3.4 ROM), after many tries at other interfaces, I've come to accept the fact that I must forego things like Mobile Shell, Manilla, S2U2, etc, etc if I want the device memory to be sufficient for browsing, writing, push, gps, bluetooth, etc. without freeze ups or involuntary app closures. In a year or so when I upgrade, then I hope to do more cosmetically.

FTouchFlo appears to be only using 100KB of memory according to Task Manager... that doesn't seem like a whole lot but I'll look into PP.

Program Name : 3D AltTab
System Requirements : QVGA\VGA WM5 and WM6
Memory Requirements : 5mg during animation
Other Requirements : Phone must be unlocked!
Compatibility issues : Wont work with 2003 OSes!
Author : Roozbeh GHolizadeh
If you liked this program please donate!
This way you help further development of this application.
Description :
This program brings you a 3D cube which will be used to switch/rotate between running programs.
This will be useful if you assign a hardware button to it.Currently program dont do that automatically!
Use Settings->Personal->Buttons to do that.(assign it to '3D AltTab Switcher').
You can also customize your animation effects from settings,and also animation speed.
If program doesnt show animation either you are low on memory or you have to manually assign a Graphic engine(like GAPI or DirectX) to program.(from settings)
For gaining Startup speed of program,use make resident and also start server.
this way animation starts a bit faster!
---------- What is the server in settings -----------------------
--------- This explanation below is not for newbie users -----
--------- If you think yourself as an advanced user read this ---------------
Program also includes a server program.Which normally you can run it from program's settings.
The main purpose of this sever is to make animation smoother.
This server also prevent some black and bad/garbage windows during animation which you will get sometimes if you are not running this server.
This server will remain resident in memory(only 7kb)and takes snapshot of programs whenever you close them.
So the only speed penalty is when you click X button(and only this way),and no memory footprint.
Program saves screenshots of programs as bitmap files(.bmp) into a location where you installed this program.(Memory or Storage Card).
So if you do a lot multitasking(and also keep them open) it will consume your disk space.
Each screenshot is normally around 200kb.So if you have more than 3mg of free space in your storage card or internal storage you are safe!(it can accommodate more than 10 screenshots which you never open that much programs!).
Note that program only keep screenshots of current running applications so whenever you close one,you actually free screenshot and space from your memory/storage card.
Program also dont take screenshots when you reach storage space below around 1mg.
Because this server uses lots of undocumented APIs it MIGHT hang or ruin or DESTROY your device.So beware!(although it is unlikely).
Server also doesnt start automatically with windows.You have to run it by Program settings or put it into startup folder(file name is 3daltserver.exe).(which i did myself).
Anyway from users experiences running server all the time in background is safe and no harms so far has been reported.
So all this warning after more tests in next version will be removed.
NEVER EVER UNINSTALL PROGRAM WHILE SERVER IS RUNNING.
Future versions will prevent this but for now dont even think about doing that!
Version history :
v0.4 :

Download Program from here
Enjoy.
Ill try it right away
Sounds cool! A Vista-like Flip 3d would be sweet too! Trying it now.
please report if it does work with your pocketpc model.
well.. it works wonderfully on my wizard.. it's a bit slow but considering it's a 195Mhz and i'm running other programs as well.. it's really really great. i'm all in for putting it as a built in task manager in my PPC.. and i'm getting my new polaris tomorrow and itll certainly be on it. thank you very much.
Seems to be working OK on a Sprint Mogul (HTC Titan). Mapped it to a hardware key, and it is switching like it should. I did get one device freeze immediately after mapping it to a hardware key and activating it. Some programs in particular (Internet Sharing and WMWiFiRouter so far)seem to always show a black screen when rotating. Mainly sounds like bugs you already know about. Can't wait to see where this goes.
Seems to be working OK on a htc niki
Look my video here .
Screenshots or a video would be good.....
Sounds like a nice app.
also.. how do you reside it in the memory? i put it on startup and all it did is switch a window when i loaded the PPC... didn't stay in memory.
you dont put it resident,thats what i should implement!
it is supposed to just run once!
oh.. my bad.. i'm a bit stupid during the evenings
anyways.. it's working great.. and i assume it'll be ultrafast if you resident it.
Video available : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=gVA71AQrESU
oo.. you know what would be cool? if you made it a round scroll instead of cubed... will seem much more fluent. (just an idea)
Good idea! I downloaded to my Elf, and it switches between dialpad and last call review, not between programs running
Great idea! I think as a task manager, anyway to make it load faster would be great!
screen shot:
Great idea. I have a big interest in this, especially if it's just a Vista style interface where I could keep pressing the button to cycle through the running apps. I'd also like to see the ability to NOT show certain apps, like ActiveSync.
Please keep up the good work!
thank you very much great tool
Great app, I don't open several apps at a time very often, but installed it to test and report.
Running on a Hermes with PDA Viet ROM. After installing it and mapping a hardware key, my device froze, but after rebooting it began working like a charm, lags a little at first, but it definitely looks promising.

Hey Atom, Great Stuff Really apreciate the work you are doing and am using your kitchen to cook my own personal ROMs at the mo (though had some fun integrating V1D into it :S)
Any chance you could also provide the OEM package to integrate into your kitchen? Im missing the Rhodium Rotate at the mo

Thanks!
Works great on xperia!
Thanks!!!!
I notice I Danny's latest ROM pics. Will try immediately.
Thanks for the share!
works fine on my xperia should work better as a standalone application.
things to consider doing in a future version
-increase the number columns in applications tab
-ability to change some of the settings without the need of a reboot, just a restart of manilla
-maybe a theme installer if its doable like M2DC
-speaking of m2dc, all the features of that great app
-ability to run from sdcard without installation (very useful for flashaholics)
im sure other users will think of more features to add

Will see what we can do if your suggestions. A theme installer seems to be something that we can do fairly quickly.
well if its the quick things you are after, there are already CABs that :
-change the clock to semi transparant flipping clock
-add a forth raw in programs
-make the envelope invisible to show more text from the email
-background for all tabs
-communication manager as a tab
-so many other stuff i missed
why not combine all features in one tf3d2 customiser. it should not be that hard since the cabs of all these functions already available
looking forword for the new version
This is all excellent stuff. Just one question, how about integrating into one mortscript app with choices. i use something similar for setting the device lock and also have a app like this for turning off the enhanced menus using mortscript. A complete app/mortscript would be cool I think.
Regards & good work both of you.
I've just tried to turn on the pade "Programms". Page "Programms" apeares, but icons are frezzed. Also I can't slide down the page.
Internet browser
Hello.
I would like to ask,if is possible to change default Opera to different soft in Internet tab? I don't like Opera I did it on TF3D with SSMaPa soft,but it doesn't work with TF3D2.
Thanks in advance
any updates in the coming few days?
thanks for the great app. i like the old start menu
I installed this and tried to do manilla in landscape but after the auto soft reset it doesn't rotate at all. I'm using the stock rom I got with my D2 any idea?
EDIT: Never mind it's working now! Soft resetting again and works fine
It works just perfect on my Diamond2. Thanks and I hope you're going to do a standalone app because it would be better! Thanks.
Problem with Program tab
I've just installed on stock Diamond2. Rotation works perfect Unfortunately Programs tab freezes soft keys to "All programs" and "Remove" Any solution?
Does not work on Windows Mobile 6.5
Hi, what is the meaning of the "enhanced notifications" included in this tweak?
Thx
Cannot switch to classic Start Menu on Diamond 2. Any suggestions? :-/
Thank you very much for that neat little tweak. After some days of unsuccessful searching in the i-net i have finally found the solution for disabling the large menus in the apps. It was very annoying, that the large menus where sometimes not readable after playing awhile with my Diamond2. Sometimes only a restart of TF3D was necessary, but in most of cases i had to soft reset my device.

Thanks.....good work
Thanks A_C , keep the Legend growing (S2.. family)...
Hi A_C,
Thx for the awesome work again~
A little question here :
I found there's a "Dialer ID" option in the newest "settings description.xls", but can't find it in the real setting program...
alarm not showing
great work A_C, i love this lock screen!
however, i'm not too sure why my alarm info does not show on the lock screen?? even though i have Information>Next Alarm Info=On.
has it got anything to do with the fact that i use spb time to set my alarms?
Please help...
thanks
downloading now =) great job as always =)
just a though, why dont upload mediafire?or even here? sometimes the website seems down o.o
very, very nice to see the integration of reminder of lost call, sms, etc. Now I can uninstall the software that I was using for this function!
.EXE
always great work was wondering if you could allow for more .exe to be added to exception list in next update or a patch.
thank you.
Thank A_C!! Update lang.Vietnamese.ini for S2U2 v2.40!!
Just freakin' great, works perfect here on dutty's HG2.1
Thanks a lot!!!
Hi there, I don't know if I'm the only one to encounter this problem.
My phone is Samsung Omnia 2 and I am using the combination of S2U2 v2.40 and S2P v0.83.
When I plug in the headphone (regular 3.5mm plug), my S2P didn't start automatically.
Under "S2P" section of S2U2 setting, I tried every different combination of ON and OFF but I still couldn't get S2P working. I uninstalled both applications and reinstalled it, still not starting S2P when I plug the headphone.
Anyone can share some help?
By the way, when I unplug the headphone when S2P is running, it didn't quit too...
I love S2P's "plug-in to start" and "plug-out to stop" function. I can even pay money for some program like this!! Please help me make my life easy again!!
Slide 2 answer
Any chance of reversing the direction of the sliding for answer/ignore? Right now it is the opposite of how the WM dialers work (tachi, rhodium, etc). Is there a chance of switching this to match WM behavior, or at least making this configurable in the settings app?
I'd probably prefer to use the WM call answering mechanism, but the problem is that if a call comes in while S2U2 is locked, as soon as I answer the lockscreen comes back on and i need to unlock before I can do anything else during the call (even simple as hitting the End Call hardware button). This does NOT occur when using the S2U2 slide 2 answer; phone stays at the call status screen, and I can do whatever I want. Any ideas?
I have succesfuly installed s2u2 but I have 2 problem, first either I have enable the option inside the configuration menu, after unlocking the screen with s2u2, the windows predefined lockscreen comes out, I would like to only have s2u2, then I have battery icon when recharging the phone but I don't have battery image that indicate battery status when the phone is NOT pluged in with charged ( I have installed the battery pack using the istructions..)
eidt : I haven't seen that this is versione v2.4 i was using 2.3 ...I'll try out
Appointment
Hi AC
Thanks for your great work.
Is it possible in the next version to have options to choose the soft for the appointments ?
Thanks again

MiniCM9 Hints, Tips, Tricks, Mods, Fixes

--------------- The following Hints, Tips, Tricks, Mods and Fixes... refer to MiniCM9-3.0.4 ICS 4.0.4/CM9 port for the Χ10 mini
Here is the Official Thread
If any of this information is incorrect - enable troll mode > reply
Contacts
Stop right there! Before you even think about flashing to Minicm9 (or any other rom)
You should Know that the “Back Up and Restore” app on your x10 is USELESS!
Use another app or service to back up your contacts ect...
You wont be able to install “back up and restore” after your flash and even if your a smart **** and manage to install it... Trying to open the .sbf file will result in “error file unreadable” there are no other programs or apps that can help you open that sbf file (trust me I looked)
To retrieve my contacts. I used pc companion to “repair” my device. Restored my contacts on the phone with back up and restore then went to............... Contacts> Export to SdCard
This gave me a .vcf file that I uploaded to google mail.
When booting MiniCM9 I checked the box to sync contacts .
Hardware Keyboard
For me the hardware keyboard didn’t have full functionality right out the box.
It would have saved me allot of time if I knew that the settings are cooked into the rom.
They can be found in... Settings > Advanced > Keyboard Layout > and for me it was qwerty-en
Wallpaper
I noticed that the default wallpaper was oversized for the home screen
Heres a tool I made to help you find the optimum size for your wallpapers
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Having the optimum size wallpaper may improve performance by 0.0001% and its nice to have everything in proportion. (Each spacer represents 20 pixels)
I use an alternative home screen called go LauncherPro its highly customisable and works well with Minicm9 (and doesn’t have the google search at the top) it can be found in the market.
Internet (data connection/mobile internet)
I had issues connecting to the internet ( O2-UK ) to solve this I text ACTIVE to 2020.
and they sent the settings to my phone via text
Other providers may have a similar service try google magic
Icons
When I first flashed minicm the icons at the top were distorted and tiny
BUT! I later re-flashed and the icons weren’t distorted im not sure what’s what with this?
Im assuming the icons were fixed when I registered for “push updates” found in
settings > system
But im not sure....
also the dialer was out of proportion and was cutting off the top half of the numbers I entered however this also seems to have fixed itself.
Boot Animation
Big thumbs up to whoever created that! Its a work of art! But it has a massive impact on the speed of starting the phone up and in cases were you have a low battery and need to make that emergency call its not going to help at all. I disabled it
Settings > Performance > Disable boot animation
Music Player
I took one look at the Apollo app and decided I didn’t like it
The one I use is called mort player its in the market for free and iv never had a problem with it. I dont know if theres a better one out there coz once I found mort player I stopped looking.
Im a big fan of an internet radio station called progressive at www.di.fm
They have a free app in the market search for di.fm
Camera
Im still working on this one... The pre installed camera is.... well its naff
I like the on-screen button... but it shaves off allot of the screen and there’s a big ugly menu bar thing
I spent 4 hours in the kitchen trying to get the original camera app to work with no joy -.-
If you know how to do it or have an alternative app that works well (inc hardware button) please let me know and ill place it here for everyone.
I also don’t like cameras to make a sound when I take a photos I normally fix this by making a blank sound file and replacing the cameras sound files (whilst keeping the file names intact)
Removeables
bojler has a nice list of apps that can be removed to free up space
(GUIDE) MiniCM9 - Free up system memory, delete unwanted system apps.
Big thanks to the developers of this rom! My old nakerd x10 mini pro is now an up to date BEAST
If you have any other hints/tips/tricks/mods/fixes please share them ill add them to the head post
reserved
Thanks for the info.
Did you get the info where the sound files are located to deactivate / overwrite the nasyt nasty foto & focus sound?
In Android > 4.4 it's optional but on this little Xperia x10 mini it's hittung my nerves and i would like to change that
cheerz!

Question Anyways to improve app management / frequent app closures?

The phone runs well, but it can barely keep chrome and a settings page open in the background. There should be around 1.4gb free in the background.
Flashing other roms should help, however trying to unlock the bootloader has proven challenging.
I've found disabling the Google app, and removing permissions from the default Camera and OnePlus Launcher to help significantly.
Here's my stock RAM usage without anything disabled:
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
My screenshot didn't include this, but Camera and OnePlus Launcher are just below, too, despite me using a third party camera (OpenCamera) and launcher (Nova Launcher).
I disabled Google, disabled Assistant, and force killed and removed all permissions from Camera and OnePlus Launcher, and now I can keep 3 or even 4 apps in memory! Like, I can switch back and forth between GMail, Firefox, and Settings without any of them ever leaving memory.
I suspect my removing permissions on the other two apps didn't do a ton, so I think it was disabling Google that did the trick. Not having Google Assistant running 100% of the time must have opened up a lot of RAM....
Here's a fuller screenshot of my memory usage for the "past day" which includes a lot of time before I did this, and some time after:
Here's a screenshot for the past 3 hours, which is entirely after I did this:
I can't remember my exact total memory usage before, but I think it sat around 3.5GB. The change to behavior was immediate after disabling Google, but memory usage was still up to 3.2 / 3.7GB after a few hours. The next day, it's down to 2.5GB / 3.7GB.
I think disabiling Google and clearing those permissions somehow reduced System memory usage as well?
I suspect, like you said, we'll be able to get an even more effecient system with custom ROMs, and that might make it feasible to re-enable Google Assistant. But for now, this is a huge improvement and I'll be leaving it off.
This was not a very scientific post, but it made such a difference, I had to post it. Could someone else who's experiencing this try it, take full screenshots of the developer options -> app memory usage before and after and confirm if it's entirely Google which makes the difference?
I'm currently seeing if I can disable the oneplus launcher, but it definitely seems to be breaking recents. Changing to nova launcher may possible reduce active ram utilization, although I'm not certain yet. Disabling the google assistant absolutely improved ram usage, so i'm keeping that off. I wish we could bind the gesture that brough up google assistant to just a general google search, but whatever at this point.
BTW, the best way to check active ram usage is under developer settings under running services.
Update to previous post: I disabled quite literally everything I could, replaced stock camera with gcam, I'm still using the oneplus launcher for recents and I'm sitting between 1.4 and 1.6 gb free. This is including not including the 200mb the settings app is utilizing while open. As such, in reality, it should be idling closer to 1.6-1.8 gb. I currently have android os utilizing 1.4 gb, which is the area I'd love to get down as that is the biggest chunk of ram usage. Either way, there seems to be progress and I'll see how it runs over the coming days.
To be clear, I removed permissions from OnePlus Launcher, but I couldn't seem to find a way to actually disable it... So it's still running in the background on my phone, in addition to Nova Launcher. But I'm glad that helped, and than disabling Google helped for you too!

You can disable it via an adb command, however it removes the recents capability so you have to leave it running. Switching launchers nets you a total ram usage of 67mb for one plus laucher + whatever the other launcher is using, however it already uses 127 mb when the oneplus launcher is the main launcher basically making it a wash.
The phone is much improved, but even now the app management is definitely too severe imo
