I was wondering if anyone knew of software for the touch pro which would tag GPS data to photos for geotagging. I thought that since there is a GPS chip inside with a 3MP camera, it would be great to have the two together!

There are some registry hack to enable GPS tagging (not sure if they work).
I use SHOZU (http://www.shozu.com/portal/index.do) for auto GPS tagging and upload to my picasa website (happens in the background right after the picture is taken)
gps photo was an option for me on the stock sprint touch pro. shozu works great too.

Try GPSToday (http://www.geoterrestrial.com). It has a background process that updates the EXIF data on new photos with the geo information.

It's in the EXIF data in the pic. Use an EXIF viewer to see the info.
edit: and whoops, didnt meant to reply to an almost year old thread.
I am thinking about trying Shozu out but I do not see a download for the TP. What versions work with the tp?

I've been doing some research into trying to get the camera to capture GPS data in the EXIF info. I can't get it to work yet. Here are some threads:
This one seems to have some good info, but not for the titan

This one isn't quite as far along...but it's titan specific.

In a nutshell, we need to turn on P9 in HTC Camera registry.
I've done all this....but it's still not working. Thought I'd bring in the BIG BRAINS!
Here is the registry I've tried...but I can't get P9 to show up in my camera.

there is a new camera build included in the new sprint rom. it only made it into the telus version of my rom. what rom are you running?
edit: i think ive seen a gps stamp option in the kaiser camera, and the titan camera does not have it.

Oh well...I did find a thread with the default titan camera.
RATS...my camera is hosed...
Tried to drop in the original EXE file but it didn't work...I think my registry was changed by the Kaiser camera install...
ANy ideas?
I'm screwed aren't I.....I'm gonna have to reinstall the ROM aren't I......
RATS!
dcd,
HOw close are you to a kitchen?
I don't think I can reload the ROM. Last time I lost my AKEY and had to call verizon and have them fix my phone on their end....I don't want to risk calling them again...
I have 2 Options:
1. find the defalut titan camera cab
2. wait for your kitchen
You're opinion?
There has been a program out there for a while now that takes pictures and adds GPS tags on them. I've not had a chance yet to try it out, but I figured it might be something to try out for now.

just hard reset and it should put your phone back to how it was when you first flashed the rom. hold the 2 soft keys and poke the little reset button. you will loose all your data so back everything up first.
I am sooooooooo embarassed...
OK...back to the original post topic.
HOW DO WE GET THE CAMERA TO CAPTURE GPS INFO IN EXIF??

If you made note of your A-Key you can use it again if you happen to blow it away, at least that is what VZW told me when I had to call to get a new one. This way you will not have to call them again.
Use these steps to put it back in if you need.
1. Tap Start icon , then Phone icon.
2. Press # # 7 7 8 [Talk]. Tap Edit.
3. For unlock code enter 000000
4. Tap View Info. Tap Edit
5. Enter 26-d digit A-Key YOUR-A-KEY-HERE Press OK
6. Press OK in upper right corner.
7. Tap Yes. Tap OK to reset device.

I just wanted to confirm that the Locr software does write the GPS info into the exif data of a JPG. The software seems to "wrap" itself around the default camera application.
Here's a picture taken with locr and uploaded to flickr through through ShoZu. If you view the additional info on the picture you'll see that the longitude and latitude pulled from the GPS. Frustratingly, Flickr doesn't seem to read that and automatically place the picture on the map.

yep it works

Just to confirm, though i do not need it myself, it is cool.
If you use shoZu (shozu.com) which I highly recommend - picture mail? who needs that!, and you enable gps tagging and auto-uploading of new images, it works a treat and tags them correctly in flickr (ie, they are mapped correctly there.)
Wish I had this rom three weeks ago

Agreed. The only trick is to remember to enable Flickr to read the GPS tags -- which in under preferences.

This should be stickied. I spent the weekend preparing to do my first flash on my XV6800 Verizon phone. Still not quite ready but will probably give it a go tonight. I really want the GPS working.
I couldn't remember how to get into service mode so I Googled and found this post. Thanks! A lot of other posts mention the 778 but not in this detail. Works perfectly. Now I will copy all my settings before I flash.
I'm open for suggestions on the best flash procedure. I'm looking at doing the Sprint, DCD flash method. I just want the updated radio, GPS and Windows.
Thanks again!
Ninrocket - The Akey will not show up.... Once you flash the radio, you WILl lose the Akey.... It's not a big deal tho.... Just call verizon, tell em you had to hard reset and now you phone is not authenticated..... They'll give you a new Akey....
im confused??? what does this software do now? take pictures an put longitude an latitude on it.
for what???
You can take geo photos with x7500.
Change the registry manually: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\
in the folder called P9 change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1.
Now if you launch the camera (Start -> Programs -> Camera) you will find a new camera mode (like photo/video/contacts/etc.) called "gps photo". You will find the photos in My Documents / My POI.

Another tip.
If you use the last version of tomtom 7.915.9196, you can navigate to a geo tagged photo.
Just create a folder in the root of your sd-card "GEO-PHOTOS", and place in there your geo tagged photos...
An then go to "navigate to" / "picture"
Thanks! it works!
Never explore this features before, new to me.
that works!! thanks for the tip..

Did not work for me.
The camera part work but I could not get TomTom to do the geo- photos.
I work on this for a few hours. I have TomTom 7.910.9185 no luck!!
I would like to get this to work any help would be appreciate.
I have the worng version of tomtom . You need TomTom 7.915.9196 for this to work, time for upgrade.
Yes you are right is version 7.915.9196.
My mistake.
I have already correct in above post .
Thanks!
I've just got around to trying this, but I get an "Unable to initialise GPS" error.
Check if the GPS it in use by other application...
If the GPS is in use , the camera can't access the device...
Thanks for the sound advice, but there were no other applications using the GPS.
Of those I have, 3 use the shared port and the other is rarely used.
Try to use other gps software before...
After aqquiring the GPS signal , try again with camera...
Been there, done that... :-(

hi this error is (like the hole feature of gps camera setting), discussed a while ago already. as far as i know it depends on the rom you are using if the function works or not. for example the german stock rom just works fine for me, but with michy prima there is no way to make this damm thing work. i read a lot about it when i discover that it dosent work anymore after flashing a new rom, trying all the tips & tricks floating around the net. but i never found a solution for this, so i finaly give up on it.
maybe you are more lucky than me, and let us know about, greets mad
I'm using the stock ROM as stated in my sig. I think I'll disable it. No point if it isn't going to work.
I am using Micha 6.1 manila edition, and it works nice..

Hello,
Can anybody help me? I would like to ,when I take (only) GPS photo, picture goes directly to tomtom - that means my device/sd card/GEO PHOTOS
NOT TO my device/sd card/My documents/My poi.
Is it posible to be set?
My device is HTC Touch Pro.
thank you.
I too am interested in possibly changing the location where it stores the photo either from tomtom or the camera to point to one location they both could use
I know with music you can look at the mp3 file with a program to see exactly when it was created and also check to see if the they changed m3u data. Is there something out there for pictures?
Basically someone sent me a picture, but right now I'm questioning if they actually took just then of the object, or was there a time lapse and they're claiming it as recent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Never mind. Google is my friend. This can be closed. I don't know if I can do it myself with this app. I don't see the option.
An exif viewer would probably be your best bet for an app.

Sounds like it may be a fat chick. She's sending you a pic when she was skinny.
No. I ask your mom to stop sending me pics a long time ago. But do send her my regards when you see her.
Exif app seems to work from the market. I was able to confirm that indeed the capture did take place during the event. The only problem is the program on the market is a little crued. Best option I've found thus far is to just use the program on windows. It's time consuming, but works.
Ok, found two apps that will show the exif details on your image. Both work great, but one is more vibrant with their color scheme.

Hi,
I'm looking for an app that can take the screenshot from the phone camera and stamp on it the gps coordinates and compass bearing with time and date like the picture that I've attached. Anybody can help me?
Thank you
Sergio
not sure where you got the pic but try asking the person if you know them. as far as stamping time and date search play store most screenshot apps will have that as an option, gps co-ordinates etc, unless the gps app has that as a built in feature i dont think its possible, i cant see wear a small screenshot app would get that info from
on taking a second look at the pic im ALMOST certain that gps app had the screenshot ability built in
Hoi,
did you try MAVERICK ?
Doei
Franz
yes, I had it months ago but I remember that didn't take pictures with imprinted on it gps coordinates and compass bearing
For some reason I remember seeing a feature where you could be with a group of friends and all taking pictures and they all shared to the each others gallery. I don't think it was s beam it was something where they were basically in a shared gallery. Can anyone help??
Open the camera and change shooting mode to 'Share Shot'. You need all your friends to have SGS3s for this to work.

Hopefully one of the devs can get photo share working on the s2. It's a great feature to just be locked to only the s3.
