How stable is the build for sgs2? Anyone tried it yet?
You can check its thread over the original development section.

Yes, thank you for your concise, yet completely worthless contribution to a question being asked. Once I've managed to trudge through the million or so posts, I will form an opinion if said thread was even remotely useful.
While your extreme enthusiasm and talent in pointing out things that are obvious are appreciated, I would actually like to request information pertaining the stability and whether you have tried it. Since you have not managed answer either question with any one post, I suppose you have failed three things; to answer the two questions I've asked in the OP and at life.
To anyone else reading this, I'm merely berating a neanderthal with near catatonic grasp of the linguistic requirement of reading; please answer the OP question as best you can.
Lolwow, that actually made me laugh, seriously, totally talented phrasing there.
On the matter of the OP:
I haven't tried myself yet (I hope that doesn't rule me out as a potential "may reply guy"), but from what I have gathered so far it's flagged "experimental".
UI stuff mostly works, some other things (like making a call) sometimes work and then don't again.
Definitaly not "daily use" capable, but a very good impression of the work that is already done and to see that work is heading into the right direction.
They say they'll be "stable" around Jan./Feb., so being a coder myself I'd rather think of March / April (NOT meant badly, I just know the countless unforseen reasons a project gets delayed!).
And if you are not as lazy as some of the members here you should aleast read the Op or the first and last 10 pages of the thread you worthless dumbass.. You're so lazy you won't read atleast the OP or last pages to see how it is? I was just telling you to look at the f**cking thread because an immature dumbass child owning a smartphone like you wouldn't have read atleast the thread pertaining to the fuc**ng topic dumbass..

Thanks for the honest answer. I was interested in CM9 mainly as a daily driver, since I only have one phone.
As for the Q1 timeline, I have heard from Cyanogen himself and from Samsung that their timeline is similar. I am, of course, near morbidly curious about hardware acceleration on the UI without a Samsung-based kernel.
Please excuse an old man while he brushes up on patience.

Here's my summary of the OP after I have read it:
1. Experimental.
2. Install using CWM, with addons.
3. No bug reports; dev not bothering anyway.
4. Logcat, or GTFO.
That should cover the basics.
Last ten pages summary:
1. Volume problem when headset connected.
2. Volume hack presented, although quite "dirty" as represented by the author.
3. Various other complaints/answers and going off-tangent.
I suppose there are other issues I might add, but the first two points seem to discuss this issue quite a lot. Also, the OP was updated to include said volume hack.
Of course, your answers were quite rage-induced, so I'd like to ask you to calm down and think about what you're saying. Even my twelve-year-old son does better than calling others "immature child" and using the f-word when he feels threatened. That is despite me allowing him unfettered access to Call of Duty multiplayer.
Yeah yeah was not in a good mood already and then i read your somewhat sarcastic reply.. Sorry for what i said and you should'nt answer people like that.. I did reply to you answer (1st one) in a proper way and not a sort of know it all read the op etc type.. Anyway, a new leak will be out this new year (from sammobile) and maybr devs can work on it to minimize the bugs so i'd suggest to wait for the next version..

this is not a good way to start
people may just never going to reply to you with this attitude.
anyway, to answer your questions:
1. i tried the second built, not the 3rd one (just downloaded)
2. it's almost usable, but still a lot of bugs here and there (volume when you connect the headphones, signal lost on some networks, default sms app crashing).
If you don't mind an "almost working but amazing" phone, then go ahead, else i would suggest you to wait another couple of builds at least.

Well, something I've learned here: Didn't you read this entire thread?
I've read the CyanogenMod 9 thread, have proven that I've read it, and I believe it is impossible for any sane person to have read the entire thread. I'm here seeking opinions, of which yours is entirely unwelcome especially considering you didn't provide any. Why don't you try to get on a horse before talking to me, so that I don't have to stoop so low?

Sure.
If you don't want my opinion, how about one of the (currently) 1,125 posts in the relevant thread, of people who didn't feel the need to create a new one?
What if the several hundred people in there each decided to post an awesome thread like your own? What if they too didn't like or want the opinions of the others in that thread, rather specific people who have tested it (wait, what, isn't that what you're likely to find in there?).
I have indeed read this thread, and I stand by my answer. You were given the most useful answer in the 2nd post, which was to look at the relevant thread. In case you're struggling to find it, lemme help you out

On a more serious note, I have suddenly realized that the current generation of internet users couldn't discern point blank sarcasm or is a masochist.
I would make a Nandroid backup and give it a go, I;m flitting between this and 2 other backups, and i found it to be quite stable, a few niggly bits here and there but overall it was usable.

MistahBungle,
I am not quite sure if is a cheap attempt to reinvent the forum rules or you pretended to be the "Wiseacre member of the month"
Sadly, your comment is undoubtedly useless with no related content to my topic.
I don't recall that in order to ask questions regard Lite'ning Rom, Andyx Rom or Criskelom Rom you need to refer it to their own forums (If existed), oh wait - That's why we have XDA forums.
In fact, it was a waste of time to comment on your awkward replay.
My point, obviously lost on you, was that you'd be far more likely to get some semblance of a response relating to your question if you posted this on Miui's forums. Or at the very least you might get a workaround or even an alternative to the native call recording function which obviously doesn't work (for fairly good reason, I'm sure). There's a reason why you've had nothing like this on here in almost two days.
Clear enough for you champ ? Good. Do have a nice day.

As a workaround I have loaded Skvalex Callrecorder and it woks very well on my Xiaomi M1.
I am confused as to why its ok to ask a question such as "What is the best launcher out there?" but when its asked "What is the best ROM out there?", the thread gets reported and locked. They are both based off user opinion. I will not "report" the thread on the launchers because that is Dumb to me. People ask a question for answers. Could somebody please give a logical explanation for this? It's a forum. People are interested in topics. As long as its in the question section, I don't understand the problem with asking a question.....
i hear you..and im sorry to say ..my opinion is it depends on peoples moods in the forum sometimes..sometimes its a superiority complex (SOMETIMES) if you ask me..
if someone asks a question that i might be able to point them in the right direction, i will respond..if not i just move on to the next. idk homey ...ive been hanging around xda since my captivate and its very useful..
if people flame your thread or close it, dont take it to heart, just rephrase the question lol...
i use apex launcher..ROCKS.. nova is also badass
and the ROM i use is ICS objection, i love my new phone thanks to this rom its clean smooth and no issues for me.. if you go down for this post im going down wicha brah!!!

Much appreciation. I am on the OnlyOne HYFR B4 ROM and currently no launcher just TouchWiz that comes with the ROM...I been here since my Droid Milestone from Alltel but never really got involved til my Droid X. Don't get me wrong, I love XDA and all the help that comes with it, just thought it was a little crazy that they instantly hated on my thread. I feel ALL people and ALL questions deserve a spot. I'm not really taking it to heart..just wish it would have been given a chance like the rest of some of these threads. Thanks though for the support on what I'm saying..
no problem homey!!!

Asking what the best ROM is, is not actually a bad question. However it gets asked way too much. A new member will pop the question when right underneath him is the same question already asked a few times. And of course as you mentioned, best is not the best for everyone.
But I would have to say the main reason is it isn't fair to rate and judge one XDA Dev's work over another Dev. They all have positives and yes some negatives. It's not like there are 100 ROMs listed. The first 2 pages of threads will tell all. The threads are rated and the number of responses are a good hint. And you will learn more by spending some time reading and searching yourself even if you only read the first and last few posts in a thread. You could ask that question and have 3 noobs recommend a ROM all because it looks cool and it may be the worst performing ROM ever.
The launchers are for the most part, finished work. And they are offsite Devs. Also there isn't a thread on XDA for every launcher like there are ROMs. And questions about launchers should only be asked in the apps and themes section.
Question answered, thread closed
The biggest problem with 'Best' ROM threads is that they usually descend into petty bickering, which is why they are reported and ultimately closed.
Hi all.
Arriving fashionably late to the SIII party. Got it day before yesterday and after a long (at least 3 minute) internal conflict about whether or not to void my warranty, I went for it.
Now I find that there are like a bazzilion ROMs already floating arround for the SIII.
So I am asking you, the public, to help me break it down into a list of those worth trying. I suffer from ORD and am jonesing for my next ROM fix
What say you, people?
Try them and find out what suits your needs. Same as everybody else does.

There are over a dozen ROM's out there by now. Trying each one is time consuming. I am pretty sure there are both good and not so good ones out there. Hence my question. I'll flash ROMs like crazy. Hell, with my old Desire I think I pretty much flashed them all at some point. But right now I just want to whittle down the selection and try out the most flashed and better ones.
Telling a guy to try out all cars and see which one suites his needs is fine if he already narrowed the field down to 4 or 5 potentials. But telling him to try them all from A to Z is just plain nonsensical.
And right now, I am trying to narrow down the field.

+1
And it'll avoid a endless discution about which rom is the best
Plus, you don't void the warranty, TriangleAway app is there to return your phone as "fresh" one as it reset the flash counter.
Try the exact same topic that was posted yesterday .
For exactly the same reasons to lazy to search and try wants it all on a plate .

Basically, how can we possibily guess what rom you'd like ? As you said, the guy told the other to try them'all exactly because he doesn't know which one will suits him.
I don't have tried so much roms since I decided to root my phones, CM9, MIUI, AOKP and Paranoid are the few I flashed, but I don't flashed them because someone told me so, but because I was curious.
So go ahead, read the description, if you find it interesting, flash the rom and see what happen. That's the best advice I can give you.
Fine. Got the message. Thanks for all the help. Really made me feel right at home.
And no, I am not being sarcastic, so don't take it the wrong way
MOD: please close or delete thread.
Closed, "best rom" or "What rom" threads are considered OT, read the OP's, understand what each one offers, and make your choice from there, everyone has different needs and wants.
Hi,
I currently have HellyBean installed, but my phone heats up even when I open e.g. Chrome, which greatly affects battery performance and performance in general.
I'm now looking for a new ROM and Kernel, but can't decide. It should be slim, 4.2.2 and should provide good general and battery performance.
I would be thankful if you could recommend me one (I was taking a look at SuperNexus, don't know if that's a good one.)
Aokp mr1 milestone 4.2.2 slim and stable.
This is indirectly like a "what's the ebst ROM" thread, which is against the rules to post such threads.
If you wnat to know the "best" then flash several 4.2.2 ROMs and find out.

Thank you very much, but I was asking which ROM each of the guys who respond can recommend and if SuperNexus is one you would recommend. I read the thread you linked and it doesn't apply here. I have tried many, many ROMs, but haven't found the one that suits best for me (fyi, there are too much ROMs to try out, I don't have that much time ).
If you came here to help, please do so, but if you came here to play police, please leave.
I recommend stock GB with speedmod kernel. Its the best combo and Ive tried rootbox and supernexus.
Ive found with each custom rom that there always seem to be a problem or two, also built in things I cant change.
But Im too pernickity.......

Pal, I just wanted recommendations for one or more ROMs which are best for me, not the best ROM. The trying-out-part still has to be done by me, ok? Please stop this, really, you make this forum look like a bureaucratic jungle.
That's the point, you wanna hear 2765 opinions so you can say "oh yeah...that could be the one i'm looking for" when you can easily read the ROM threads of every single ROM suggested here.
Either way, you need to try em all.

Look, I am thankful for your advice and I will try it out, and I sure know that you can only recommend me ROMs, but not tell me which exactly is the one I need, but that's not what I asked.
While I understand what you're asking the issue is that every user has different needs when it comes to their phone and what may work best for one person may not be the same for another. It's best to read some of the threads in the dev section and make an educated descision based on your particular needs.
