Hi All,
For some stupid reason I went and deleted all the SMS software off my Wallaby. I now need to use it.
Can anyone point me to a link to download some SMS software for my O2 XDA ?
Thanks
Sonny
Should be fix included in Pocket Outlock......
I think you have to explain, what you have deleted exactly....
Stefan
I live in Australia. I re-fllashed the firmware in the Wallaby to T-Mobile firmware. Big regret but that's another story.
I cannot re-flash the firmware back toanything else as I have Navman GPS software loaded. If I try to change the firmware, it changes something in the Wallaby which mean Navman thinks I have a new PDA. When this happens, the Navman company wants to charge me for a whole new software licence ! Damn pirates. So, I can chage the firmware.
I don't really use the PDA as a phone. A friend gave me the phone for a case of beer. I bought the Navman software - but it was worth it.
I wanted to start using the Wallaby as a phone too. The phone works great when I plug in my SIM card. Make and receive calls no problems. When I try to send a SMS, I select "SMS" in the phone menu but nothing happens. Just stays on the dial option.
I have tried all sorts of ways to send an SMS, but it never takes me into a screen to create the SMS and then send it, even though there are menu option to create the SMS.
I think I have deleted the SMS software or just didn't include it when cooking the ROM.
Any ideas how I can fix this problem ?
Thanks
Sonny
Hi
I am trying to re-install my MDA Vario II, cherry picking only the cabs that give me something useful. Everything works OK apart from MMS. Put simply, the MMS folder will not stick around after a soft reset.
If I let t-mobile install all its [email protected] after a hard reset, MMS works fine and stays put after a soft reset. If I cherry pick only what I want, it does not work.
My question is which cabs are required in order to support MMS (both the cabs that are installed from the windows folder and also those in the extended rom). I have actually run through and manually installed each cab in order as per what the preconfig and config files do... MMS still dissapears after a soft reset!!! It really is very very odd (and frustrating).
I would search for this as it sounds like an issue that someone else may have had. Unfortunately, the search function does not work correctly (told me 15 times that I entered the image verification text incorrectly, when it was actually entered correctly 15 times).
The lack of a quick search function that does not seek to wind up the user makes this site less useful than it used to be!

After installing and un-installing several dialpads, I lost the smartdial function on my Cingular 8525 even after I restored the original dial pad. is there a way to get it back without a hard reset?
Thanks in advance.
Problem solved by using ext rom:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_PC_Hermes_GenericLight_REG_060609.CAB

Did you re-enable it in the phone settings? It's there on mine by default.

I try to edit the settings but nothing for it pops up. Do you have the cab? My phone wont even predict the contact based on numbers dialed...
From the dialer screen, click Menu, Smart Dialing Options, and make sure the checkbox for enable smart dialing is checked.
Lost smart dialer on 8525 with new rom
I did a rom update to the new AT&T rom and was pretty sure that smartdialer was working initially, but now I've completely lost the function and can't figure out how to get it back. I recently had a similiar problem after uninstalling some SPB unitheme dialer skins and when I contacted SPB they had me correct the problem with the following advice...."You should change "enabled" value from "0" to "1" in [HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin] registry key on your device". But now when I check this registry string I find that it is set to "1" and still doesn't work. Any suggestions on how to get smartdialer up and running again without a hard reset?

After my device lost smartdialer I actually installed some dialers with the smartdialer function and I still don't get the function. Tried uninstalling the add on dialers and checking the registry as noted above and still no smartdialer.

I'm not sure what cab we need.
Here's another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294264&highlight=smart*
Are you serious?
You got it working?
Cool.
I'll give it a try and post back.
Nope, didn't seem to work for me.
I too have lost my smartdialer function after the rom update, but when I access the menu options from the dialer screen and pick "Smart Dialing Options" I don't get any options...just reverts back to the dialer screen.
Someone suggested this in another thread:
MP_SmartDialing_enable _0915_signed.cab
Still haven't found it to try it.
Smart Dialer coment:
Some are having issues with new ROM and no smart dialer. I had no problems, but I also know that installing ETen Big Button Dialer (available at 8525software.com) disables Smart Dialer. So I tested it. Install ETen and as supposed too, no smart dial. Then I unistall ETen and the smart dial is back working ok. Also in the phone screen the right soft key has an option for the Smart Dialer, make sure it is turned on.

I am having the same error when I try to select smart dial options it just reverts back to the dialer...
I will try to install some other dialers then try to uninstall them to see if that works...
there is no REG EDIT to enable it?

My phone has been great since updating to DCD's latest cocktail but today I started having a really weird problem.
I would manually dial a number in the dialer screen (# was not in my contacts) and it would instead dial a similar number of one of my contacts. Tried it 5 times and even tried soft-resetting and it kept doing it.
After the soft Re-set and clearing my call memory it started choosing a different number to call but still the same issue. The numbers is chose were very similar, all had the same area code and the 1st 2 numbers were the same but after that completely different.
Is there a way to go to the stock dialer? I'm on a Verizon 6800.
Thanks.

Are you talking about smartdialing? If so this is normal
What it is doing is that when you dial a number whether it is in your contacts or not, it is trying to recognize numbers that you have dialed. If it matches it will display the name of the contact and options to give information.
But if you keep dialing and the numbers don't match with any contact then nothing will appear. It will just let you dial the number that you are trying to dial with out having to look through a familiar contact.
it was doing the smart thing narrowing it down as I entered more numbers but after the 6th number nothing matched so it showed just the number in the dialing section of the screen. Hit the send button and it would then choose a contact to dial instead.

Hmm that is odd... If you dont really use Smart dial, try disabling it in the options menu of the dial screen. This might help. Are you running a custom ROM or Stock?
DCD's newest custom ROM with the custom dial. I was hoping there was a way to load the stock dialer instead to see if that helped.
Wow... funny, I had the same thing happen a few times exactly as described. I dialed the complete 10 digit number and instead it dialed one of my contacts with the same area code and partial prefix. I figured it was just me.
I'll try disabling Smart Dialing and see if that fixes it.
Also I looked at the numbers I called and I was trying to dial XXX-761-2056 but it dialed XXX-709-8039 so not even close. The other time it tried dialing XXX-701-5325.

So you guys cooked your own ROMS and when you cooked it you put the Vogue Dialer , Vouge Skin, and Smartdial?
Or the Stock Titan Dialer ?
Because I installed the Vouge options with smartdial and mine works perfectly.
I will provide you with the Mogul / 6800 Big Button CAB which will replace your dialer and the Touch Skin CAB to skin the dialer.... This might work "you can always uninstall it"
I didn't do any cooking, I just took DCD's basic ROM and loaded that but it came with a different dialer than stock for the XV6800.
I'll give those dialers a shot, that a lot.
Turns out that this is the same dialer as the one built into DCD's ROM but what is interesting is no numbers showed on the keypad. It also showed up as HTC HTC Home for the install in remove programs
Well crap. Turns out the HTC HTC Home listing in remove did remove the HTC home plug in but not the dialer and now I've got not #'s on the keys. I can't find the uninstall line for this dialer, any ideas? Oh wait think I found it. The Bullfrog Big Button Dialer right?
I installed the Wizard reTouched dialer (installing it will fix your no number issue). I haven't tried just dialing a random number though... lemme give it a shot.
Ok, I just tested it and it worked fine, let me find the dialer. It looks EXACTLY the same as the "stock" one in DCD's rom, but I found it's a little different.
Ok, here it is, it's attached in the first post of this thread. There are some skins for it too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315685
I noticed that when I tried to skin the stock dialer it didn't skin right. I'd have no numbers, or some of the buttons wouldn't map right. I installed the dialer in the thread above and I was able to skin it fine, and it makes calls without issue.
P.S. The test number I dialed has the same area code and exchange as a few contacts.
Oh, and the Wizard dialer will show up in your remove programs list.
You guys need to install the Big Button dialer along with the Touch CAB
The Big Button Dialer just installs the Dialer and the Touch CAB skins the Dialer with the key pad.
I have tried the Wizard Retouched one, but I removed it because it looks wack to me because you can't modify it like the big button can.
So for those with not having a dial pad
Install the Mogul Big Button Dialer
Then
The Touch CAB
Or they can pick whichever one they prefer.
You know, choices and all...

True, but after all it was an opinion not a fact.
Fact is that with the big button dialer and the Touch skin cab it is easy to make your own skins by replacing the ones that the Touch skin cab created.
This is meant for true modifiers. Because you wont have to be installing cab after cab after cab or even worrying about getting a gsm dialer that removes certain features on your phone.
Since I really don't care for the custom dialers I deselected the dialer skin and the smartdailing in DCD's kitchen. Now I have an original WM6 Dialer with WM6 smartdialing and I really like it.

UPDATE
I am assuming you guys use CDMA since it is a TITAN Forum. Be advised that using the Wizard Touch Dialer will not only give you memory leaks, BUT
also disable the ability to use 911 and other features such as the advanced configuration mode on your phone.
Check out post 170 on the same link that redirects you to the Wizard dialer

Workaround
I have found that when you are dialing a number that is similar, or if it happens more than once, push up on the directional pad after dialing the number which deselects the smart dialing number in the window. then press the green button as usual. This seemed to help and hasn't done it for me in several days.
Serf, Since I'm a newb at custom ROMS I didn't do the kitchen thing. Maybe I need to give that a shot so I can get the stock dialer back.
I flashed my rom back to the HTC (Sprint) stock rom from Herm's energy rom so I can bring my phone to Sprint. The dialer looks fine except when I receive calls it still has the tachi dialer (?) so I have to slide the bar to receive or ignore the calls. Anyone know how to fix this one. Thanks in advance.
Did you try hard reseting after you flased back to the stock ROM?

Yep. And what's weird is that my dial pad looks fine. It's when I receive a call and when it asks if I would like to save an unknown caller to the contacts (I noticed this after my original post) that it's the new dialer.
man maybe you should switch with me.. i want that dialer so badly. i had the update too but hated what it did to my notifications. but enjoyed dialer because i could for a change ignore and answer the phone. does anyone know where i can find. (i might just have to stick with gettinng a custom rom)
I ended up swaping out the phone. I'm pretty I picked up the new dialer from the Sprint ROM on the HTC website. It puts all of the Sprint stuff on your phone but what do you do?
