Completly clean WM6.1 ROM? - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Hi guys, I've been trying to find a ROM that's just basically an English WM6.1 ROM - no extras, just the bare necessities. Is there one available? All I can seem to find are tweaked ROMs with a bunch of extra features I don't need, and mods I don't want...
-edit- Screw that, I was just looking in the wrong place. Guess I should've just looked in the ROM directory

this is the best I found around here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417657
100% clean, ultrafast; perfectly working

Thanks for the tip!
Right now I'm using Cloudyfa's [wm6.1]S4V.19209.01 Clean Edition (UC), and it kicks ass. Much more stable than Transformer1.1 WM6.0.
If S4V starts going to hell on me I'll give Prophet Future a try - but so far I'm very happy with S4V...

i will take the liberty to recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386050 as the version you are using has some minor bugs. I fumbled around quite a lot with Cloudyfa's roms since they are the best in my eyes. but i as well don't like all this crapware on my machine. i love choosing for myself. that's why i finally made my own mod and would call it probably the closest to "original" if there was an official wm6.1 release for the prophet.

...AND its my great pleasure to acknowledge chriskay's claim with fullest contentment.....that, Chriskay's revived is the best of 6.1 CLEAN ROMs around which have no bugs so far (I have been using it for loOOOng time). I switch to other ROMs for fun because there are realy good ones out there.
BUT considering CLEAN and STABLE - there is few choices,
1. Inteks v3 and v5 series (fastest of all ROMs, have bugs, need many customization before using)
2. Chriskays Merge revived (No bugs, stable, fast)
3. l3vsy is ROM (mentioned above in #2) have bugs: bluetooth activesync failed for me - I like to stay on my sofa and do things using my PDA through activesync via BT, so no go for me! Except for that, it's good one, very fast (er > chriskay)
So, I really have no clouds in my mind declaring chriskay's ROM as the favourite one for me.
Hope you find your dream ROM soon!

Hi Chriskay,
What minor bugs are you thinking of? I haven't found any yet. I'm just glad to finally have a ROM that doesn't crash every few hours

as far as i remember, infrared did not work and the keypad backlight did not switch on again once it went off.
there is a fix for IR floating around the forum, but the kepad backlight cannot be fixed so easily. that's why Cloudyfa put out a new rom with this issue corrected.
apart from that, i cannot remember anything. as i said: only minor bugs (if you don't use IR).
Cheers.

Okies, I don't use IR - but what's this about the keypad backlight? Mine seems to be working fine...

Brand New Fuze User (former Hermes) - Any Tips on which ROM to flash?

I know, I know....
but i am not a flash junkie and don't want my first experience with the TP to be flashing 10 roms. I'm just looking to get a decent one (preferably not a black theme ) and run with it to get to know touchflo and the device. Thanks!
There's a good Wiki associated with this device. Get to know the chefs then start reading their threads. Took me about an evening to find what I was looking for.
Just my opinion but, NATF's all the way! And the FuzeBerry of course....
Hi there
Ive coome over from the hermes camp too (although its still running)
i would personally reccomend the lantis os roms but again, and you'll see this all over xda, you will only find the best rom for you after flashing a few
and theres only really a handful to try!
good luck and make sure you've hardspl'd and have your stock rom and radio versions written down or backed up just in case you have to do a warranty return! saves u the hassle of trying to hunt it down in the panic!

You should try them all, so you can see what the difference between a good and bad rom is. Each rom is built different for different so not all roms may suit your needs..... but i agree on Lantis OS being my favorite right now.
I personally tried Romeo, NATF and Proven and decided to stick with Proven.
I had problems with the screen shutting off during calls with Romeo.
I experienced TF3D lag with NATF.
Proven has been rock solid and I like the Diamond tweaks he's incorporated.
if you don't like TF3D go with Da_G.. I'm actually running a VGA version of HTC Home on mine.. love the speed.
Thread like these usually get closed pretty fast, I'm suprised that yours last a day
It's really all depend on what you like, they are all great. For the past few days, I've tried many of them. And to be honest, there is no BEST one. It's really depend on what you need and what you like.
Da_G is has the cleanest ROM NaTF's
Elite RC2 Is fully loaded with a new feeling
NATF Is stable, and GPS lock is pretty quick (update very often)
Proven, it's like Elite with less Applications and function (cleaner)
Romeo is very stable
.... Those are what i've tried
Check the Wikki in sticky post.
I think it is a good question that should come up from time to time.. sure everyone has their personal preferences but for a new person wanting a quick rundown on the most current ROMS to date.. just saving the guy some time downloading and flashing all those different ROMS. anyone here flashed all released ROMS to date?
I also went from the Hermes (8525) about a week and a half ago. Fuze was my christmas present .
I tried NATF's ROM for about a week and had many problems, which i seemed to ignore because of all its good feedback. I then tried Lantis OS and had no problems at all, I am still currently using it. No errors and speedy fast.
My suggestion is Lantis OS for the moment, but NATF is suppose to be releasing his v4.0 ROM sometime today or tomorrow so you should look out for that as well.
Good luck with your fuze and your flashing, and enjoy that beautiful VGA screen that i loved when i got it compared to the Hermes
I don't think that XDA-developers ever had any problems with folks discussing ROMs and their xp with the various flavors in a rational manner. We usually end up shutting down threads because the first reply is "Use search you id10t!" followed by general thread degeneration.
Anyhoo.. normally I'm one of the chefs, but with this device I've found that Da_G's direction mirrors the way I'd be going anyway. He's more interested in technical improvements to the GDI, GPS etc than in all the additional apps. I'm pretty confident that he's well on his way to creating a solid base ROM that's free for anyone to work from. Exactly what I would have done. Why re-invent the wheel?
This is what these kinds of threads are supposed to be like! As stated by a couple people previously, normally these get dismissed and/or flamed. When people ask these types of questions, usually they are not asking (at least the smart ones aren't) which ROM the SHOULD flash, but rather what is your experiances with the ones you have used.
I understand how confusing it may be trying to decide which one to use - they all look the same as far as applications that are cooked in. Only difference aesthetically are the different themes and that alone is not a deciding factor for me.
Just as everyone has stated - just try some out and see how they feel to you. ie button mapping, folder layout, apps installed, speed, etc. I personally like Aruppenthal's RRE ROM but that's just my 2 cents.
FYI: From what I've seen, EVERY ROM has its own bugs/quirks that may or may not annoy you.

I second the Lantis OS. I am using it as well. It is very fast and stable. I had problems with NATF's as well. But I will try NATF's v4.0 when it is released.

The one I'm using is a cab called htchome2.cab that I found in the diamond forum...works fine but the media player tab does not work.
And I have been using either Lantis or DaG Rom's....I use Blackberry Connect which adds lag to the fuze anyway but it seems to affect these Roms the least. I would be interested in hearing what Rom's Blackberry Connect users are fond of as it seems to make a big difference.
i too just got my Fuze from Kaiser. right now im using RomEOS and really like it. i might try the Da_G because i really dont care about TF3D.

[ROM] l6.5l New rom for you, whats your flavor?

Well, I think I have obtained enough information and know-how on how to build roms and my cab/package vault has grown over time. I think its time to start giving back to this community and offer up my services with providing yet another 6.5 rom for everyone.
The question is, what is everyone's favorite build? A lot of people will stick with the latest build and I'm sure I will have to as well to keep it fresh and new, but for my first rom I want to build it based on what everyone's favorite build has been so far, so please vote for your favorite build.
I look forward to to both helping and giving back to this community who has helped my very much.
Although it's a good idea, I don't know how many of us actually know the difference between those. It might very well just be me, but i have no clue what the difference is between those. If you could post some differences between builds, it would help. Functionality, stability, battery use, etc.

Well thats the thing, some may perform better than for others. It al has to do with personal preference... and then there are some builds that nobody just likes. I stuck with 21222 for a long time because I liked the speed and stability.
Great initiative!
IMHO;
Most folks will probably defer to you expertise in determining which ROM edition will be best for them.
Adjusting the poll for features like:
Battery Life
Ease of use in Cellular mode
Ease of use in PPC mode
Typical applications to include
Manila or Non-Manila - no not Vanila; as my wife calls it
Connectivity (bt, wifi, etc.)
Might reveal a better cross-section of what to provide.
Cheers,
Yea each release seems to be different. 21222 was awesome for me. Seemed to be the fastest although 21815 is what I am using now and seems ok (still laggy though).
21222 was really the sweet spot.
Hey adam! Good job! Enter the cooking world Just be ready for the tedious reading, learning, and flashing to come. I still don't fully understand it, but it takes time to iron out the kinks and it's tedious to flash over and over again, but it seems worth it when you get closer and closer to what you want. And a vault you say? Surely you'll have to upload that vault somewhere

Oh, Gawd NO!!! *I'm a Libra* .... and we can never decide....

This thead is a good idea
Wow I was just thinking about starting the same thead topic!
We all need to give some sort of feedback in regards to what we like and what\why we are currently running. My person best was 21728 as it seem to be the smoothest if not the fasted build. Not many people tried it as DaG skipped it even though he gave us the sys. I am currently checking out a sys and xip ripped from a emu bin file to see if I see any difference as it just so happens to be 21234. Switching back and forth to see if the new VM enhanced NK.exe from DaG make a difference compared to the original 6.1 compatible NK.exe.
Keep that feedback coming in as the more opinions that are expressed the easier the decisions will be for others.
I agree with dcelluser. I am up to 21728, I dont any change as far as battery life is concern, but its better in terms of stability & smoothness. Battery is more than builds quality thus I need to know if someone finds any other build with any radio giving maximum battery, rest is always the same from 21222.
21728? Hmm, I dont even remember seeing that build. I wonder who else likes that build? Too bad I cant edit my own poll...
As far as everything else is concerned, why dont you guys also write in and say why you voted for xxxxx build and why. Was it the stability, speed, batter, ect... and what you thought about it. It may give a little more insight for other people as well.
In the meantime, im toying around with themes, taskbars and manila so when I figure out which first build to use, Ill have everything else lined up already.
I found 21222 to be the most stable build so far and had no issues with battery.
I'm flashing back to my 21222/21502 as we speak because the 218xx builds have been buggy for me.

its just that noone has cooked new official ROM hotfixes with old builds so I am using new builds otherwise I hardly see any change in its performance. They are all same almost.

Yeah, Im going to have to stick with new releases once I move on to my second release... but for my first initial release, I wanted to build a rom that most people like as an incentive for trying my new rom.
Once that happens though, I might start throwing out two releases... another oldie but goodie rom and a new leaked build.

Just be careful doingthis. It can be hard to sync two release. Even just trying to change between a Fuze build and a TP build bugged me so much that I created a Mortscript to change KB layout!
how about just putting in your blood sweat and tears to create what you think is a kick ass rom. Thats all anyone could really ask for. And not that Im asking, but I know you will. Just put that disclaimer all the other guys put in their title post, that this rom is built to your likings. If you get some whiny kid complaining because it doesnt have the extra 50 levels of Teeter, just forget about them. Just do your best with all that knowledge you have accumulated, and you'll for sure put out something great. You have been around long enough to know whats good and what doesnt work. Now Im excited to see you put it in to play. Use the build that worked best for you!

Awesome battery life!
Awesome speed!
Great stability and ...

FASTEST most STABLE ROM? - What is it?

Hello everyone,
before I bought my TouchDual, I had a usual HTC Touch. Well, at first the device was horrible slow. Then later on some one released a light ROM which works great till this day (my brother owns the Touch now).
Well, I got the TouchDual, but can't find a slim, fast, stable ROM. Its horrible.
I don't need a overloaded Divice. Just a slim one with all updated drivers and fixed bugs.
Is there anything out there which even comes close? My current ROM is driving me crazy! I prefer an older build it just has to be fast and stable.
PS: Couldn't someone stick a Thread like that? I'm sure plenty people are searching for such an ROM. (Yes I used the search-function)

The reason why there isn't such a sticky is if you ask 10 people this question, you'll get 8 different replies. There aren't many ROMs for the Nike anyway, so why not try all of it? I did..
It also depends on if you want WM6.1 or WM6.5.
There's not many 6.5 ROMs but NemanjaLO was doing the only Lite ones - as to whether they're completely stable seeing as WM6.5 is still undergoing development well, that's for you to judge.
But, as Lukesky says, it's all down to personal opinion and preference so do a few searches and try some out - you get usually get a good feel for the ROM by people's comments in the thread.
try this one... I've been using the manilla edition of it, and was stable and for a manilla rom packed full with all kind of apps it was fast. I think it will satisfy your needs.
If not, wait untill tWolf sees this thread. He must have flashed every single "basic", "clean" or "lite" version of the roms on this board to his niki and will surely be able to tell you which one was the best
Well I don't need 6.5. I just want an ROM on which I can run Tom Tom smothly, browse for Files and don't get interrupted writing SMS. My current ROM has some very annoying settings.
Such when you use T9 and want to add a custom word, it doesn't automatically switch to ABC-Mode... which is absolutely stupid.
The "Clean Black" Rom doesn't seem too clean with all that stuff on it. Especially the skin...
Where are you Mr. tWolf & NemanjaLO?
PS.: Even though it's right that every ROM has to kinda fit personal need, it is impossible (for people who need their phone everyday) to just try a whole bunch. It's just like buying a car. I need advice for a compact, small, efficient one.
Thanks so far.
If you don't even want the skin, then it's best you cook for yourself, else the lightest nike rom I know has to be this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435153&highlight=lite
Can you even use that one with an Nike?

I voted for energy, but it was such a close tie with NATF's it just wasn't funny. I run the most recent of either. NATF's has a little better behavior when traveling from 3g to edge to gprs, but they are both GREAT roms. Energy tends to lock gps quicker (most times).
Best ROM - For my needs and tastes
I am with the (vast) majority. Genesis is the best ROM for me by far. I have tried them all and continue to try them over the weeknds and holidays etc. I openly admit, however, that I am a Da_G fan as well as Monx and (for my former Tilt, 8125, Hermes, and Wizard) Duttys. Even though I generally have opted for simple, uncluttered ROMs; NRG has produced an eye appealing version that is stable and does not seem to slow down the processor. Hence my choice of Genesis as the best ROM for me at this juncture. Will I continue to try other ROMs and use them for a day or two? Heck yes! Will I reload NRG on Sunday night for the week's work and enjoyment? Absofrigginglutely. Will I get a Fortress/Tilt II (TP2) at the first opportunity? Maybe even the day before that.
And yes, I have contributed to NRG, (and Da_G and Monx). They deserve it and too often we beat them into the sand with sometimes innocuous whining after they have spent all night for days putting together a BETA for us to test. A BETA, a ROM that is suppoed to have "issues". In fact a BETA that has no issues is called Gold or RTM (and even then...) Then, unsurprisingly, these chefs leave us, with them feeling somehow betrayed and deeply hurt. No, they are not children, they are human some of whom have sweet young things (either gender) asking for a bit of their "time".
Flame away dudes and dudettes, we can always fiddle while ROM burns. (That is a good pun if I say so myself.) LOL - at myself.

Fastest HTC Touch Pro Rom

I'm pretty new to the HTC Touch pro. Bought a second hand from eBay about 2 weeks ago, had a really old stock firmware but it wasn't too bad. I thought flashing to a new rom would make it much much faster, but it hasn't really.
If im scrolling left and right it seems pretty fine, but say I stop on 'programs' or 'weather' there will be a 1 second delay. I was hoping this could be fixed? I might be clutching at straws, but I really thought this phone would be faster then this.
I am currently using EnergyROMs latest build. Have not applied any registry tweaks as of yet.
Cheers
p.s are there any roms that have weather integrated on the home screen? I assume that will probably lag the phone further tho. Hmm.
Note: I prefer the HTC UI, I think this is called Manilla? I'm not much of a fan of the Windows 6.5 UI, but it's not bad. Thanks all
Try my CR192 Touch HD ROMs. Which ever you like but yet I haven't released builds with new interface ( Called WinMo 6.5.1 ). However, I do have latest build ROM based on WinMo 6.5.0. May be official build come on leo or the newer devices. ( 21869 ).
Best Regards
Thanks mate, was kind of expecting getting flammed for my topic. But your post was both helpful and informative. Will try out your rom tonight. Cheers!
Thanks for the newest build. I am looking to find a fast all encompasing ROM. This looks like a great on for me to try.

Thanks mate. I am on one every 2 or 3 days until I find something that is either frustrating or not working at all. I have been unsuccessful in getting Taels to load properly and I'm downloading another at the moment.
Cheers,
Kevin
I used to have HTC Kaiser (Tilt) and was very -very happy with it (Garmin ROM). But one day touch screen started acting up. I then upgraded to Raphael. I tried many ROMs. One every two three days. Then came Cracing's ROM. I have stayed on his 6.1.0.0.3. The ROM is fast and stable. This is THE BEST ROM.
Keep one thing in mind. You will have to look around for ROMs and try. The thing which is good for me may not be good for you. I wanted a bloat free clean ROM and thanks to CRACING, he cooked one for all of us.
Another thing which I find different between Kaiser and Raphael is the graphics speed. The Raphael has inherent slower graphics than Kaiser. I am not sure why. It may due to the fact that Raphael has 4 time bigger screen resolution (640x480) than Kaiser (320x240) and both do not have dedicated graphic processor. The menus (quick menu) and other graphic updates (TomTom) appear slower in Raphael than Kaiser. The point I am trying to make is that if you have different phone earlier then the fastest ROM of Raphael may still not feel fast enough because of its large screen resolution. The time difference may be less than a second, but it is definitely there.
In short all ROMs are good and fast. There are some limitation in Raphael hardware. For me best match has been CRACINGs rom. So do try those.
Thanks ViperAMD!
I am looking for a great wm6.5 on the Raphael. I like having the bells and whistles because I am still new at flashing and I don't have all of the CABs for apps that I like (which usually come in the ROMs). I have a decent supply of CABs already but I might need to take the next step and learn how to cook my own ROMs.
Cheers,
Kevin
