Photo of internal numeric keypad metal contact size - S740, S743 General

Hi All,
I would like to share with everyone, on the motherboard of the numeric keypad, please look at the photos below.
Look at how HTC design this phone, the call/answer & end buttons are really the equal sizes with the left/right softkey, home & back keys.... But why does HTC wanna make the outside call/end buttons so small ? What is HTC doing ?
This is such a shame on HTC, which equally large size buttons on the mothboard but small buttons on the keypad, this is such a real dissappointment
If any of you wants to complain to HTC, kindly send to the following email
Mr Dalton Chuang, Senior Manager for S740, Email : [email protected]
Mr Jack Tong, Vice President of HTC, Email : [email protected]
Mr Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, Email : [email protected]
Hope all these information helps everyone, to also ensure this matter will face the same issue as the Qualcomm MSM7200 video driver not installed in HTC devices

I dont quite understand what you are trying to say or prove here. if you dont like the design, buy a different phone...

What's your point? HTC did not advertise that S740 is NOT going to have small SEND and END keys. It is apparent from the first look. Whatmore, most users (including me) like this design.

Now that you have taken your phone apart and made it clear you don't like the phone, is there any chance you want to part with your front casing (for free) so that I can replace my somewhat impact damaged screen cover

The phone is all ready very long compared to other Smartphones, if they included "normal" size call and end keys it would be even longer

Full Screen Dialpad

Does anyone know where I can get a full screen dialpad for the 8525? It seems like a big waste of space not to be able to use to full screen for the keypad. I have fat fingers and it would make my life a whole lot easier to dial without having to use the stylus.
Thanks
Patrick
are you talking about something like pocketcm keyboard?
Try leaving your phone at the top of the stairs and then when it rings run up them to answer it, then you wont have such fat fingers, but i bet you live in a house with no stairs lol.
the touch dialpad has pretty big buttons
something like this?

try browse the forum in touchpal or better yet open www.cootek.com

Are you looking for Dialpads or for Keypads? Dialpad are for dialing telephone numbers. Keypads are keyboards for typing messages and such.
Dialpads-Use the search enging (upper right of this page) and type in dialpads. If not on the first page of hits definately on the 2nd or 3rd you should get a lot. There are dialpads from the HTC Touch and Marshall (you can even search his name) has produced quite a few that even include smartdialing.
Keyboards-I recommend searching touchpal or go to PocketCM.com. Tene has developed a lot of large screened ones and there are skins for even larger looks.

PHOTON Text Selection for all devices

Hi guys
PS It causes EzInput to go to numeric keypad mode when writing SMS in tmail. Dont know how to fix ((
I would like to share my recent finding.
As you can see from screenshots below i have working HTC Photon (HD Mini) Text Selection on my device. It is a CutCopyPaste functionality from HTC. The most incredible thing is that my device is not a htc device. I have HP Ipaq 614c (QVGA). So i think, if it works for me, should work for all devices.

The only one thing which i dont understand. Why grafics is so bad? I found from web screenshot how it should looks like and it has much better grafics. So i ask a question for more advanced people, which HTC dll library related for grafics?
Cab is attached. Free to try and comment.
And i am not sure about all dependencies. For example, HTCScroll, HTCFramework and HTCShared already included in my device. And i have Manila2D v2.0
I always use ctrl-c/x/v on soft keypad to copy/cut/paste. Will give this a try.
is it possible the use the photon text selection o other place such as Word or note?
No, as i understand only in SMS and Email
Guys, i figured out something more. See screenshot. But this time without selectors.
The selectors are pretty neat, but I definitely like the cleaner look of the text more than the fuzzy icons. Any chance of uploading that second version? Thanks.

Road SMS? send messages while walking safely

We’ve a soft spot for augmented reality (AR) apps and a dislike of walking into lampposts, so Samsung’s new Road SMS app for the LG Optimus GT540 satisfies both our hunger for gimmicks and personal safety. Available exclusively through the Samsung Apps download store on the LG Optimus GT540 – and, we’re guessing, on the Vibrant, Captivate and any other LG Optimus GT540 variant the company pushes out – the Road SMS app basically overlays a QWERTY keyboard on top of a live view from the phone’s camera.
That means you can strut along the street, texting away to your hearts content, while simultaneously keeping an eye out for open manhole covers, angry dogs or stray celebrities. Unfortunately the app itself is pretty basic: all you have is a keyboard, a shortcut to choose the message recipient and a character counter (which seems to want to limit messages to 80 rather than the more usual 160 characters); there’s no way to browse incoming messages or indeed take a photo for an MMS.
Still, as a free gimmick it’s pretty neat, and we imagine someone will soon rip it from the Samsung ROM and offer it on other custom installs for rival handsets. Full demo in the video below.

[Q] Screen Broken - Advice

Good Day All,
I am in a bit of a predicament. On Saturday, I had my phone in hand and heard a *crack* (I can only suppose my subconscious telekinetic powers were left on), looked down and noticed that there was a somewhat small crack about 1.5 inches up from the back capacitive button all the way across to the home cap button. Basically making any key presses in that lower region of my screen and cap buttons unusable.
I just watched the YouTube tear down video and I'm curious as to if I purchase the Touch Digitizer Screen Assembly(See pics below) will this cover everything that I need for the replacement?

I found a US supplier on eBay with it for $170.99 with a decent ship time (4 business days).
--I have noticed that Most of the non-ebay suppliers are out of stock on the digitizer all together.
Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated.
can't u just take it to a fixer it's the safest way if ur nervous

Click to collapse
Because the local "fixers" are gonna want to charge a markup on the actual screen/assembly while still adding on for repairing the damage. Versus actually buying the part myself and giving it to them to fix(Which is also a probably option).
Have you contacted LG. I heard they do the repairs too. It's obviously much safer and I think cheaper.

size of Z Ultra vs Z3 Tablet Compact

I'd been contemplating the X-Z3TC-LTE as an upgrade from the X-Z-U, but it's so much bigger it just isn't pocketable in the same way; here's the XZU on top of the Z3TC:

p.s. apologies for the poor picture quality, a friend took the picture and we had to be quite stealthy as the shop probably wouldn't have approved of us taking pictures.
naaah...u got baby pockets or something? I would buy it! I want a bigger phone!
Agree.. With superuser. Nothing is too big. Waiting to get myself one of those bad boy..
That... Too big? Nah... If you really need to, put it in a wheelbarrow or something, there's no such thing as too big!
Yeah, that's a proper tablet. It probably works fine as a tablet, but i doubt it'll work nicely as a phone. The Ultra is special since it's both a phone and a mini-tablet, but it leans more towards a phone (in size, that is), while this is a full blown tablet that you can call with if you want too, while the Ultra is mainly a big phone.
I was thinking that one of these tablets coupled with a smart watch and a collar style Bluetooth headset (LG Tone or Sony SBH80) might actually work quite well. No need to check the tablet for messages all the time, and no need to get it out to make or take phone calls.
