I've recently got the Touch Pro for Sprint and while I love the thing to death there seems to be an issue with the radio. Occasionally when I go to send a text/pic/vid message, it will change the signal to roaming or I will lose my signal all together only to have it come back after I get a message saying that it was unable to send the message. I haven't tried upgrading the radio as of yet, but this is really a bother and causes a bit of aggravation. Does anyone have this same issue, and if so have you been able to resolve it?

Hi guys/girls
Have a XDA which has a very strange problem, I have signal, can send and take texts (Vodafone and Orange networks tested) but can not take or make a call, sometimes the phone will ring and then after about 5 sec's it will cut off and I will have missed call, I have tried to take the call but it say unable to take the call (have not yet got it to call out), now the Orange sim I use has GPRS and I get the little G up for about 2 sec's then it's gone again, so anyone had this problem before and can point me in the right place to get this fixed.
Also I got the phone like this so I know no histroy.
Info on phone
Rom 3.17
Radio 4.21
I'm guessing this is a hardware problem so any link's or pic's of the radio side of the XDA might help me to see if something has come loose or might need resoldering.
Many thanks
I too have a simlar problem
The XDA I have came with the Special Edition Rom v1.2 on it
I put in a vodaphone sim I know works and it allowed me to dial out - only to cut off as soon as it seemed to make a connection. So I tried to diel to it to get a message about a system error.
I tried an O2 new pay as you go sim and had the problem of the G2 symbol appearing and disappearing on me.
Anyone out there got any clues ?
Owlfandbg, this sounds to me like a blocked phone, I have been sold 2 phones in the past that did the same and found out they had been subject to insurance claims and blocked from all networks.
any ideas how I find out if the phone is blocked
and is there anything I can dan do about it?
If your radio stack is before 4.21 you can use xda manipulator to "manipulate" the imei which will then give you network access. I must qualify this by stating that interfering with the imei in the UK renders you liable to 5 years in jail plus a huge fine if you get caught.
I am experiencing a large number of dropped calls. Like every other call gets dropped. I'm restoring back to OEM non-root and going to test it. Does anyone else have this issue?
I haven't personally experienced this issue, but I would recommend flashing a new radio first before restoring. It could save you some headache.
Where are you at? I'm in dallas tx a and have been having alot of issues.

I am having precisely the same issue. I have flashed to the latest MR2 radio AND updated to BAMF 2.1's excellent Gbread build, but if anything, it's worse. The symptoms are the same as others experiencing the issue - talking normally, when bam - the phone hangs up (my wife is an especially big fan of this).
I honestly don't think it's a rooted vs: non-rooted issue. It started happening before I rooted!
I see other people resolving the issue by dialing *228 and selecting option 2, but when I do that, the phone tells me it already updated the roaming profile at boot up via the SIM card.
Does anyone have any other suggestions before I un-root and get a new one from Verizon?
Unroot and test. Call vzw and see if there is any dropped calls or problems in the area..
Starr 228 doesn't work on 4G everytime you turn on your device it searches for towers

I've had this error come up many times when trying to send texts on my OG Evo, it always happened when I would try to send a text at the same time that I received one.
Did you just get the phone? I was having the same issue. It turns out the phone wasn't fully activated and when I tried to call a non-sprint number I was reconnected to someone from Sprint who went over my plan details and activated it fully.
I got it on release day. I'm not sure what "not fully activated" means. I've called several non-sprint numbers with no problems. Error only from SMS, and only sometimes. I've tried to replicate the situation but IDK

Just call Sprint and ask, might be faulty hardware.
Sometimes after I reset the my phone I get the notification "restricted access change".
At first i thought it might be sim card since it is a new phone. So I switched it with my wifes and she put mine in hers. Her phone worked perfectly but when I turned mine on, It worked for a bit (sometimes does this also) then eventually stops working.
* no Texts can be sent or received and no calls can be received. If I try to call someone it stays on dialing and I can't cancel the call. (stays as if I am calling and have to reset phone)
Sometimes It doesn't show error, Just stops all of the above anyway.
Any suggestions or comments? anything would help.
Did you ever get to solve this issue? I am getting it on my T-mobile S3.
Tmobile could not solve the issue. Now sending the device to Samsung support to see any hardware issues...

I am getting this error too on my T-Mobile S3. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:The reason I was getting this error was due to the guy I got my S3 from closed his t-mobile account without paying the ETF. Therefore my S3 now has been blocked on Tmobile network. The guy gave me a refund on the phone tho.
Hi Guys,
I am hoping that someone can help me here. I recently purchased the Xperia Z Ultra (huge!) and I have noticed that it has an intermittent network loss issues. I took my SIM card from the HTC One and put it in this one and entered the Fido APN settings. 3G and H+ works fine but the phone loses network every now and then. It is strange cause the bars are all still available on top but the error just says network lost. Usually notice it when sending text messages as they get queued. Sometimes, it just starts working on its own and sometimes I have to turn on/off the airplane mode.
The phone is an unlocked version purchased from the States. Please help me someone!
Thanks
Anyone has any ideas? This is really started to annoy me to the point where I wanna get rid of this phone. And I only got it yesterday. I've noticed that the issue is ONLY with the SMS service. When I try to send a text, randomly I get a message saying, 'message queued and will be send with service available'. I tried making/receiving calls during this time and it works fine. So it's definitely not that the service is lost. Such a strange issue.
Could it be that I have a LTE SIM that is causing the problems? It is a C6802 version of the Z Ultra and my understanding is that it doesn't have LTE. So just wondering if it could be that since I have a LTE SIM card in the phone it is causing these issues? I highly doubt that is the reason though.
Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

Same problem with no solution till now. I may have to return for to warranty.
Its a software issue. Mine does the same thing.
Try to download new APN settings from the menu.. Mine grabbed weird info (proxy) which I had to remove, but it fixed some of the connection issues.
Now its only occasionally.. Is yours automatically changing from HSPA to 3G when Idle? Mine does this, which I forget which update I noticed it with... I assume its a battery saving issue. I have the stamina feature on, if you do you may try turning it off. I'd guess that would be the main culprit if you have it on, or related to the APN. It may or may not have a timer that tries to auto update the first time you put in your asim . if so, being you had to manually put your APN info in it couldn't connect at first so it may be caught up or whatever.. Good luck, I doubt its a warranty issue, but if you swap and it fixes, please let me know!
